> The distinguished historian Agustí Furiats, together with his incompetent but brave assistance Bertrán Vía, bring us their rendition of the greatest story of all time “The Messiah” – told in the humorist style of Monty Python with the sole objective of bringing side splitting laughter to the audience. What if William Shakespeare would have been born a woman called Eileen? How many women’s voices have been lost over the years, what would have been of our literature, our theatre? This is the premise of the play “Eileen Shakespeare”.

> Japanese contemporary jazz pianist, Hiromi, is known for her energetic live performances, mind blowing speed and precision. Her music expands horizons and is a blend of jazz, progressive rock and classical (06.11). The recording career of American singer pianist Diana Schurr (07.11), aka “Deedles” spans 3 decades and includes 2 Grammy awards and countless headline performances at some of the world´s most prestigious music venues. She has performed with such greats as B.B. King, Dizzy Gillespie, Ray Charles and Quincy Jones and is known and loved for her eclectic style.

> The Culture Department of Bunyola is extremely proud to present the 25th edition of this long standing festival which has become a musical framework in Mallorca. Marking its first quarter century, this year will be in special character with seven concerts scheduled over the coming two months, including 1 in support of talented young musicians from the island and another special Christmas concert from the Bunyola choir. Many of the musicians are individuals from Mallorca who have wanted to be part of this very special anniversary celebration.

> Da.Te Danza (Granada) presenta una versión puesta al día del cuento tradicional “La Bella Durmiente”, que pretende mostrar mediante el baile y la música la transformación de la niñez a la adolescencia (7). Dubbed the “African Sting”, his 2009 release “Ten Shades of Blues” is Bona at his best, with a blend of his African roots, jazz passion and moving lyrical thoughts on life. The Jazz trumpeter Terence Blanchard (12.11) has been a leading artist in Jazz since he arrived on the scene in 1980. He has recorded more than 29 albums, won multiple Grammy awards, received accolades as a bandleader and his trumpet can be heard on more than 50 film scores – bearing his unmistakable compositional style. > Uno de los talentos más buscados de Nueva York, el bajista de Jazz Richard Bona (11.11) ha sido reclamado por el público desde su primera aparición, con tan sólo 5 años. > Detrimental Threat became a hardcore group in 1998, and since then has been discharging its full fury at venues and festivals both nationally and internationally. La Bohème is considered one of his greatest works – as well as one of the most romantic operas ever composed. The story focuses on the love between the seamstress Mimì and poet Rodolfo. Although in love from the beginning, the flirtatious behaviour of Mimì drives Rodolfo away. Rodolfo feels guilty of the fact that she is seriously ill and their life together has most likely worsened her health, reuniting them for a brief moment at the end before she dies. > Las creaciones de Puccini La Bohème, Tosca, Madame Butterfly y Turandot están entre las óperas más frecuentemente realizadas a nivel internacional. La Bohème es considerada una de sus mayores éxitos - así como una de las óperas más románticas que se han compuesto. La historia se centra en el amor de la costurera Mimì y el poeta Rodolfo. Aunque al principio todo es enamoramiento, el comportamiento atrevido de Mimì consigue que Rodolfo se aleje de ella. > Two great singers, songwriters and original storytellers, Aidan Bartley, born in Belfast and London’s David John Hull, now both residing in Berlin, have crossed paths many times in recent years and now have joined forces for this concert tour. Elegant, emotive, perfectly structured songs following the path of the greats like Leonard Cohen and Nick Cave. They can be melancholy, romantic and evocative, with a dash of British humour – always convincing.

> A charity event where proceeds go toward family emergency services, charities and the Red Cross of Mallorca. The program alternates between instrumental interpretations of symphonies by Mozart and Hayden and vocals where Soprano Barbara Hendricks performs arias from Mozart and other authors. Hendricks performances have embraced a wide range of musical genres including opera, jazz and contemporary standards. Aside from her music she is deeply committed to humanitarian work, with a particular concern for refugees and those in war or poverty zones.

34 The art of your skin > In Calle Fábrica a new tattoo studio has just opened its doors. When entering, you realize that everything offered at Sin City is different. Jon Silva, international tattoo artist, who has collaborated with Psycothic Tattoo, among others, has a very different tattoo concept than what we are used to seeing. For a long time it seemed that the tattoo was stuck in mere drawings or standard catalogue images. We all know the old school sailors, ships and pin-ups with the thick black lines and dark one dimensional colours – this is exactly what you will not find at Sin City. As with painting, where we have found different styles that have developed over time, the world of tattooing has also evolved. In recent years we have seen an emergence of new talent with tremendous creativity – abstract, pop art and textures – and this new trend is growing. The tattoo has become a form of personal expression, like the way we dress. Taking advantage of new technology, the advancement of the machines, the new inks and his talent, Jon Silva has created a unique style with realism as a fundamental basis. In Sin City, realism is the priority. Portraits, snapshots, photographs, a Dalí, or your favourite comic – there are no limits to Jon’s imagination and he always accepts a new challenge. 35 El arte en tu piel > En la Calle Fábrica acaba de abrir un nuevo estudio de tatuajes. Nada más entrar nos damos cuenta de que todo lo que ofrece Sin City es diferente. Jon Silva, tatuador internacional que ha colaborado con Psycothic Tattoo, entre otros, tiene un concepto del tatuaje muy diferente de lo que estamos acostumbrados a ver. Durante mucho tiempo parecía que el tatuaje estaba estancado en meros dibujos y catálogos estándar, todos conocemos el old school, marineros, barcos y pin-ups, de gruesos trazos negros y brillantes colores unidimensionales, pero esto es justamente lo que no vas a encontrar en Sin City. Al igual que en la pintura donde encontramos diferentes estilos que han ido desarrollándose a lo largo del la historia, el mundo del tatuaje ha evolucionado; en los últimos años hemos visto surgir nuevos talentos y mucha, mucha creatividad: abstractos, pop art, texturas… y esta nueva tendencia va a más. El tatuaje se ha convertido en una forma de expresión personal, al igual que nuestra forma de vestir. Aprovechando las nuevas técnicas, el perfeccionamiento de las máquinas, las nuevas tintas y su talento, Jon Silva ha creado un estilo propio con el realismo como base fundamental. Gerardo Cañellas > Gerardo Cañellas was born on April 30th, 1958 in Palma de Mallorca. From an early age he was interested in what are now his two great passions: jazz and photography, which he has combined with his professional life in the business world. A tireless traveller, he knows many of the festivals and small clubs around the world which have shaped the history of jazz. Always accompanied by his camera, he has been able to capture the atmosphere and excitement of a day, recording the memories into images. His project, Jazz Voyeur, which emerged with the publication of his photography book, has grown to include two clubs, one in Buenos Aires and one in Palma de Mallorca, as well as the International Jazz Voyeur Festival in Palma, currently celebrating its 6th edition. Gerardo Cañellas > Gerardo Cañellas Engel nació el 30 de Abril de 1958 en Palma de Mallorca. Desde muy joven mostró interés por lo que hoy son sus dos grandes pasiones: el jazz y la fotografía, las cuales combina con su vida profesional en el mundo de la empresa. Viajero incansable, conoce gran parte de los festivales y de los pequeños clubes que alrededor del mundo han ido conformando la historia del jazz. Siempre acompañado de su cámara ha sabido captar el ambiente y la emoción del momento plasmando en imágenes su recuerdo personal. Su proyecto Jazz Voyeur, que surgió con la edición de su libro de fotografías, no deja de crecer y entre sus estandartes cabe señalar dos clubes, uno en Buenos Aires y otro en Palma de Mallorca y un Festival Internacional en Palma de Mallorca que este año celebra su sexta edición.
