With all the craziness going on this past year there is still no better time to be in the cattle business. And that business is built on bulls that are sound, functional, athletic and easy to handle. We as consignors of the Hwy 16 West Multi Breed Sale are proud to bring you top-notch bulls that will produce no-nonsense, quality offspring for the purebred and commercial breeder alike. We have red, black, traditional and high performance or heifer bulls on offer. These boys are fed to grow, not show, and will be semen tested 30 days prior to sale day. This year we will be offering an exciting online sale hosted by DLMS FARMGATE on March 19 to March 20th. 2021 Sale Format

Due to the ongoing pandemic, we will be holding our 2021 sale online via DLMS Farm Gate Timed Auction. Bidding will take place from MARCH 19-20, 2021, online at www.dlms.ca

We would be happy for you to come view the bulls in person prior to the sale. Please call the individual consignors to schedule a farm visit.

HOW TO PARTICIPATE IN THE DLMS FARM GATE TIMED AUCTION 1. Visit dlms.ca and follow the link to the DLMS FARMGATE TIMED AUCTION SITE www.farmgatetimedauctions.ca, click the LOGIN/REGISTRATION button. First time users will select the REGISTER button from this page. Fill out the registration form to signup for a free user account and it allows you to select a username and password for use on all Farm Gate Timed auctions. This program will send you text and email messages whenever there is activity on your favorite lots or someone challenges your proxy bid and this is why you will be asked for both your current email and cell phone number. If you are a past participant in the Farm Gate Timed auctions simply enter your user name and password to continue. This takes you to a list of both current and upcoming Farm Gate Auctions. 2. You can choose your favourite lots in this sale at this time and the program will allow you to open either all sale lots or just your favorite lots on your screen. Any time there is active bidding on a lot you have identified on your favorite list you will get a text and/or an email noting this activity.

3. The program allows you to place a proxy bid on any sale lot. This in fact protects your interest in any lot of interest for you to a specified dollar value you set, when you may not be able to give 100% attention to the sale. If the lot has a $2000 bid on it and you place a proxy bid of $3500 into the system, the computer will bid $2100 for you but if some one else bids $2200, the computer will again bid for you, this time at $2300. The system will look after your interest to a maximum of $3500. If another bidder is on at $3600, your proxy will no longer be effective and you will no longer have the winning bid on this lot without once again logging in and bidding again or moving your attention to a second lot of interest. 4. At closing time of the sale the entire sale will extend bidding if a bid is placed on any lot in the sale. Any bid received after close time will extend the sale by the time listed on each sale. In Most cases the time gets shorter the longer in to extended bidding the sale is. When no bidding occurs for the extended time the computer will declare the sale finished.

5. Following the sale the Owner or Sale Manager will invoice all buyers in the sale, please contact the seller with questions or to arrange delivery, pick up or shipping of your purchases.

FAQ

WHAT IS RACEHORSE STYLE SALE CLOSE? Racehorse style sale close is when the entire sale stays open in extended bidding. This type of sale allows you as the bidder to change to a different lot within the same sale if the bidding has gone in to extended bidding. HOW WILL EXTENDED BIDDING WORK? When we get to the close out end time the clock for close extends with any bid placed with less than 5 min on the clock. This type of extended bidding turns the end time to more of a soft time. Extended bidding allows bidders to compete in lots like a real auction and give all bidders the same time to make a decision. Always follow the clock to see how much time remains in the sale you are interested in.

SALE TERMS & CONDITIONS TERMS The terms of the sale are cash or cheque payable to HWY 16 WEST MULTI BREED BULL SALE at the time of invoice unless other satisfactory arrangements have been made. The right of property shall not pass and animals will not be released until settlement is made. INSURANCE Ownership risks transfers to the purchaser at the time of the close of the online sale. Insurance is recommended for all purchases.

DELIVERY & CARE Consignors will assist in making delivery arrangements. Expenses incurred are the responsibility of the purchaser. Bulls can be kept at the consignors farm until May 1st at no charge. After May 1st, a charge of $3/day will apply.

GUARANTEE All cattle are sound and semen tested by qualified veterinarians. Bulls sell with a breeders guarantee of satisfaction; in the event of any dispute the regular terms and conditions of the respective breed association will apply.

CERTIFICATE OF REGISTRY All bulls are registered with their respective breed association, registration papers will be duly transferred to the buyer for each animal after settlement has been made.

Working with these low maintenance, solid footed, and maternal cows is a real blessing. The bulls they produce are quiet, great to handle, and easy fleshing. Our pen of two year olds this year is no exception. These extra age bulls will give you that much more bull-power to get the job done and they are raised to grow out naturally with lots of mommas milk, good pasture and a full mineral program. The bulls are weaned in early December and put on hay/silage and are given a Grain-Free Bull Ration from Country Junction Feeds. They are fed in large pens to keep them moving, then turned out in the spring to spend the summer developing on grass. We invite you to stop by and look at our herd; visitors are always welcome! This stylish dark headed, dark footed bull is out of one of our best cows with a super disposition and perfect udder. 7G has length of spine and carries enough frame to fill out nicely. With just a 79 lb birthweight, he weaned off at 615 lbs in the fall. With the build that he has, 7G could go either way for a heifer or cow bull.

This bull’s dam is a real broody cow with lots of flesh and a solid foot. He’s a stout, well put together package with lots of guts and a smooth top. His sire was a low birthweight bull with explosive growth. 10G’s weight comes from his dam’s side as she is a high performance cow. We love the chunk he has to him and how well he moves out.

This compact heifer bull with a 77lb birthweight weaned off at 650 lbs Nov 13th. His dam has been a no miss cow for us, to provide those low-birthweight, fast gaining bulls. 5G has the looks and data to be a solid breeder for either heifers or cows.

This smooth made bull was born in June so don’t let his weaning weight fool you. He is a super chill calf that’s put together really well with an excellent foot and a nice topline. With a 76 lb birthweight he will be a great heifer bull but could be used on cows as well. His mom was our favorite pick in the 2016 KBJ dispersal and she’s been a solid addition to our herd.

What an absolute privilege it is to work with all of the different breeders to put together a bull sale that has something for everyone. With all the changes that have come during these trying times purchasing a herdsire for your program has also changed. No more can we meet at the sale barn and socialize and rub the shoulders of the customers in need of herdsires for their program, we are now required to make appointments and follow protocols. So many changes in every aspect of our lives and yet there are things that have not changed at all. These would include the pride we have in the offerings that we make, the quality of the bulls produced, the

way in which the bulls are bred for calving ease, high milk performance and great growth potential. With over forty years of experience with the Limousin Breed we fully believe that the genetics on offer here are second to none. We continue to halter break all of our bulls which make them a pleasure to work with. We have chosen four yearling bulls from our pens this year for sound herdsire prospects for use in your program to aid with the cow performance and add to the calf crop resulting in a better bottom line at the end of the day for your program. You often hear people say farmers are thick skinned. We couldn’t agree more! With five years of adverse farming weather and toping it off with COVID you have to have thick skin to be able to keep your chin up to continue doing what you love doing. So that is what we did. We moved forward and are pleased with this set of bulls we have on offer this year. The Sire to these bulls is Conform 57C. His docility has been passed down to all his offspring along with correct confirmation. Even though his birth weight was 100lbs don’t let that fool you as he has lots of calving ease to pass along too. We would also like to give homage to the cows in our program, of which this package of bulls evolved from. These 8 to 13 years old cows’ traits include longevity, correct udders and their big long bodied frames. If you are interested in our bulls, we encourage you to come visit us as we would be happy to show you the whole package – Bulls, Sire, Dams and the rest of the herd. I would like to thank my prior customers and hope that your prior purchases have met your expectations. Because of my veterinary background, my top priority over the years has been calving ease. You will notice that all the calving ease epds are well above average. That said, I still try to emphasize performance, milk production, confirmation and temperament, as most of you do. These bulls are from A.I. sires with proven blood lines and were grown out without the use of creep feed. Because of the online format of this year’s sale, I encourage you to come to the farm and see the bulls live- I would be very happy to meet with you and answer any questions. It has been quite the journey from our 1 st sale to now, through droughts, floods, high and low calf prices. As I write this it has been a week of what I would say EXTREME COLD with no real break forecasted. How do we do this? Why do we do this? We all have our own answers, be it farming for a living or as a hobby. We would like to take this opportunity to thank all the buyers who have bid on bulls and bought bulls, hoping they have met your expectations. Also the advertisers who have placed ad’s in our catalogue, without all of you this sale would not have succeeded as long as it has. Thank You! This year our bulls are developing into herd sire prospects, they have traits that we like to see when we buy bulls, they have width, length, performance and temperament, making them easy to handle. We feed the bulls enough to be in good condition not an over fat condition, hoping your investment will last for as long as you need it to. 13H is put together nicely, he looks like he maybe a fairly easy calving, has a long narrow poll and his head is not overly wide. He is fairly wide, deep and has good length. He is also nice to handle.

29H was a standout since day one, he weaned out the heaviest of all the calves bulls and steers. He is from a cow that we purchased from Cajun Angus at the Northern Select Sale, we have kept all her daughters. She was an easy keeper and a no problem cow and very friendly. Her son will not fall from the tree. This is the last one from this cow, we unfortunately lost her this winter.

Well, what can we say about this guy other than WOW! His birth weight was 88lbs and his weaning weight was 670lbs. He is made thick and deep and carries himself well. His mom has nice udder and feet. She also is an easy fleshing cow. He is easy to handle.
