Letter from the Publisher March started out on a high note with the Northlake Body Mind Spirit Expo attended by a flood of new people and new energy into the spiritual arena. A week later the Milwaukee BMSE duplicated that flood of new energy, but with a clearly Wisconsin tone. It was nice to see old friends, like Jacqueline, who not only stopped by to say hello, but offered to help. Both shows were well attended at record levels and what seemed like a very high percentage of new faces. The response to Conscious Community Magazine was very positive and included some constructive comments that will be discussed with our writers and staff at our next visioning session. I am always happy to hear the input from our readers and the suggestions they have to offer.

Our theme this year is connecting with Mother Earth. There will be presentations on not only the importance of connecting with Mother Earth but techniques on how best and easiest to do so. Spirit guides have consistently stressed the importance of Connecting, also known as grounding, and how critical it is to our spiritual development.

Our April 25th retreat will be an intimate gathering of seekers ready for the next step in their spiritual evolution. The theme is mysticism, including the best techniques for accessing your higher self and meeting your personal spirit guides or strengthening that experience if you have already met them. Guests will be invited to stay over for a free day to explore the 50-acre camp on Sunday, with readers available for individual sessions. There has been an influx of new seekers into our spiritual marketplace in the last three years, along with a growing field of books on a plethora of topics presumably of interest to the growing number of “newbies.” People start out by buying a few crystals, incense and books, but then seem to disappear back into the fabric of the mainstream, perhaps to absorb their newfound interests and stabilize within themselves before advancing once again back into a visible presence in our spiritual world. There is much discussion among the long-term members of the spiritual market about where did they all go to. There have been some closings of spiritual centers in the Midwest in recent times for lack of adequate attendance at events. That is surprising given the influx of new people starting in 2012 and continuing to the present. When you find a place of spiritual business that you like and feel comfortable in, support them with your dollars so that they can stay in business and be there so that others can discover them as well. Have Some Tai Ch’i with Your Chai Tea? Why Tai Ch’i & Qigong? The Qigong study-tour to Baoding, China in 1993 was a lifealtering experience for me. Our group of eleven consisted of mostly acupressure teachers from all over the US. We had the privilege of studying with Master Wang Jue Ming, a man who had been imprisoned for seventeen years during the Cultural Revolution for his Qigong healing abilities. Our first experience was with a man who had suffered a stroke and was paralyzed on one side of his body. Dr. Wang worked on him by projecting Qi (energy) with his hands at a distance from the man’s body. A few minutes later, Dr. Wong stopped and asked the man to move. He had gained some movement in the first session. Each day Dr. Wong projected Qi to him; by the end of the week, he was walking on his own. We also saw patients’ tumors shrink and, as a group, found that many of our own imbalances improved. Dr. Wong encouraged us to practice what we had learned on a daily basis. He said to meditate at least twenty minutes a day. Qi, pronounced ‘chee,’ means energy. Gong means skill or mastery. Tai Ch’i is a branch of Qigong and is meditation in motion. We learn to use Qi instead of our muscles. Research shows that Qigong can be used to help arthritis, heart disease, Parkinson’s, anxiety, depression and cancer. I have wondered why Qigong and Tai Chi are not practiced more in in the United States. Maybe it sounds too foreign, but no more than Chai Tea! It does take some dedication, ideally, a daily practice to derive the benefits. Would you like to experience Qigong and Tai Ch’i? Come out to the 17th Annual World Tai Chi and Qigong Day on Saturday, April 25. We will be hosting at the Theosophical Society in America, 1926 North Main Street, Wheaton, IL 60187. This is a FREE event. I hope you can join us. I am off to have some Chai Tea with my Tai Ch’i! Renee Somer Ryan, co-director of the Lightheart Center in Winfield, IL, has practiced the healing arts for 30 years and has studied Qigong and Tai Ch’i in the United States, China, and Korea. Death and Resurrection: The True Metaphysical Story of Easter by Walter Perschke Perhaps the greatest mystery of Christianity and the entire world is the story of the crucifixion and resurrection of the man called Jesus. Did it really happen? Did it happen the way the story is told today in the Christian gospels? And just as importantly, why did it happen? How could the man Jesus, who could raise the dead and walk on water, be crucified and die in a most excruciatingly painful way without intervening with his own divine power? For the answers to these and many other questions that humanity has been asking for thousands of years, I asked the spirit guides that are here to help us all in our inward journey to our true spiritual nature. These are the answers they gave me, which I have every reason to believe are true. The simple explanation of their ability to respond to such questions is that they do not live in any time-space continuum and thus are not limited by time and space. In their world, the guides can visit the events we are questioning and give us the answers we seek. And they cannot lie. This communication is called channeling, and a longer version of the process will require more time, and space. The death of Jesus by crucifixion is a true story. But how it happened has been “revised” in the centuries since. The consequences of those revisions have had a profound effect on the teaching of Christianity. Much emphasis has been placed on the pain and suffering of Jesus in this process. Yet the metaphysical message of these events is that there is no suffering, and there is no death. Peter, “the rock upon which I will build my church,” Peter the first apostle, said in his gospel when he saw Jesus upon the cross, “but he was silent as having no pain.” Yes, there is a gospel of Peter, it’s just not in the New Testament. Peter also reports that Jesus was on the cross for six hours. Peter states that it was midday when Jesus was placed upon the cross. Jewish custom said that “the sun is not to set on one put to death.” In other words, someone executed must be buried before dark on the day of their demise. The midday reference by Peter, six hours on the cross before death and burial before dark by custom fits the scenario. According to Roman records, the average time on the cross before death was three days. A person being crucified died of suffocation when they could no longer support their own weight and their diaphragm could not function. It was considered merciful to break the legs of the person on the cross because they would die quicker, but Jesus legs were not broken, yet he died in six hours. Did Jesus have a choice? Of course he did, and he chose to leave this earth in a very visible and public way. Ask 8 Conscious Community - April 2015

yourself; of what value would the resurrection be if Jesus died of old age? If there is anything I have learned in studying and teaching metaphysics for over twenty years, it is to focus on the increasingly larger picture and not to dwell on the details as much. Focus on what the guides call the energy of the events. Judgment leads us down the path of minutia and away from the “energy” where we are most productively focused. Jesus chose crucifixion because he was taking on the Karma (humanity calls it sins) of the world. He was assisting in moving the evolutionary movement we call humanity forward to a new level of consciousness. Humanity is currently experiencing much of that movement to a higher level of consciousness. The “energy” of the world today is moving to a higher vibration level, and that movement was precipitated by Jesus, 2000 years ago. To quote the guides, “He was turning on the karmic faucet of 2012. Jesus was changing the dimensions of existence and reality as we know it. It is a process that he was completely familiar with.” Jesus was altering the energy to make it possible to go deeper within ourselves, starting a process that continues today. He was bringing love, not the law. Jesus was bringing a new way of being and it was going to take time to ground and infuse that energy. We are changing out inner reality and the outer will follow. We tried it the other way and it didn’t work. Let us return, for a moment, to some of the details of the events. Did Jesus have to drag or carry his cross to Calvary? Yes, but he had some help and did not have to do it alone. Was he scourged and made to wear a crown of thorns? Probably not, but those ideas do fit with the pain and suffering belief system many of us were raised with. And what about Judas? Judas’ relationship with Jesus was close and quite complex and is a story unto itself. But as it relates to our story here, Joseph Campbell’s description of the Judas “betrayal” is succinct and accurate. Joseph Campbell said that Jesus’ words to Judas “sound more like a command than anything else.” Judas got a bad rap. Metaphysically, Judas represents guilt, which remains with humanity today. Judas took on the persona of the saboteur, just as humanity sometimes sabotages itself today. There was a betrayal, but Jesus allowed it to happen. The cross itself is highly symbolic and an ancient spiritual symbol that pre-dates Christianity. There are cave drawings in Europe that exist from prehistoric times that include the cross. Metaphysically the stipe, or vertical bar, connects heaven and earth and indicates there is no separation between them. The patibulum, or horizontal bar, connects time and space. The significance of the cross to the crucifixion is eliminating the

barrier of time and space and connecting heaven and earth with no separation. The message of Jesus is expressed and reinforced by the cross. When the crucifixion was complete, Jesus’ body was claimed by Joseph, a friend of Pilate, as had been pre-arranged. Dusk was upon the scene and Jesus’ body was taken to his tomb for burial without all of the usual ritual preparations of Jewish custom because of night falling. His body was washed and tied in a linen cloth and placed in the sepulcher, called the Garden of Joseph. Three days in the tomb symbolizes the trinity of Mother God, Father God, and infinity. The tomb itself represents humanity’s disconnect with its own divinity. We have minimal access to our own divinity in the dark universe we have created. Humanity is in this dark, tomb-like place of disconnect with self. We can come out of our own self-imposed tomb by recognizing our own divinity and simply coming out of our tomb. It is a selfimposed tomb we are all existing in and we can walk out of our tomb just like Jesus did. That is the symbolism and message of the tomb. Did the resurrection really happen? Yes, it did. Was the resurrection of the body or in spirit? The resurrection was of the spirit, not of the body. Did Jesus appear to those who saw him after his crucifixion as a living breathing man in the flesh? Yes he did, hence some of the confusion about the resurrection of the body. Jesus was divinity personified and he could appear in any form he wished to, and he chose to appear human. But the resurrection of the body would contradict his teachings, which included reincarnation. We release the body upon physical death, to claim a new form when we are reincarnated and reborn into a new body. Nothing is the story I have presented here diminishes from Jesus or the power of his message. Jesus’ true message remains as powerful today as when he walked the earth. CONSCIOUS EVOLUTION Questions and Answers for “Conscious Evolution.”

by Barbara Marx Hubbard

Founder, The Foundation for Conscious Evolution 1. What is conscious evolution? Answer: Conscious evolution means evolution by choice not chance. For billions of years nature has been evolving through five mass extinctions, but no species was aware of it. Now, we are aware that we are facing the sixth mass extinction, and that humanity has some role to play in this crisis. We are affecting our own evolution by everything we do; the food we eat, the cars we drive; the number of babies we have; the energy we use, etc. We have entered the first age of conscious evolution. This book is a vital manual and guidance for our entire generation facing species-wide evolution or devolution together for the very first time. It offers us a new way through together.

2. What is the social potential movement? Answer: The human potential movement was founded on Abraham H. Maslow’s genius to study well rather than sick people. He called them self-actualizing. He found every such person had one thing in common, Chosen work they found intrinsically self-rewarding and of service. He mapped the characteristics of self-actualizing people and launched the positive human potential movement. In Conscious Evolution we begin to map peaks of social creativity, innovations and projects that are now working toward a positive future. We begin to see the outlines of the self-actualizing society. Conscious Evolution is a first step in launching the social potential movment.

3.What is the “New Story” that Conscious Evolution is based on? Answer: It is the newly discovered universal evolutionary story based on the recent discovery of cosmogenesis, the scientifically based awareness that the universe has been, is now and will ever be evolving. It is also obvious, when looking at the whole 13.8 billion years of the New Story, that nature is like an evolutionary spiral. It takes jumps toward higher consciousness, freedom and order through forming new whole systems, such as from single cell, to multicellular creatures, to large animals to humans and now to humanity developing a new nervous system, a global brain, a “noosphere” or thinking layer of Earth through Internet, 7 billion cell phones, FACEBOOK, Twitter, Google, Linked-in etc. We are just about being connected to one another as one living system -- the next whole system jump.

10 Conscious Community - April 2015

4. What do you mean by co-creator with the process of evolution? Answer: I mean that the same process of creation creates us all. Our atoms, genes, brain, organs together are a resume of the whole story of creation. Within each of us is an Impulse of Creativity, a yearning to realize our potential, to be more, to love more, to do more. A co-creator is a person who fills this impulse within as an expression of his or her own life purpose. It is one who says yes to this impulse and begins to seek fulfillment through expressing their own unique creative. Co-Creators are the next step after Paul Ray’s definition of “cultural creators.” Co-Creators are deeply attuned spiritually as well as vocationally to their vocations, their soul’s purpose. They are learning to cooperate with one another co-creatively as co-equals, outside of the current top down pyramidal system. They are innovators of a new culture and a new society now arising in the midst of the dysfunctional world.

5. What do you mean, “problems are evolutionary drivers?” Answer: Stress causes evolution. Problems force us to seek new solutions –to discover emerging potentials within the system – like new clear energy, like new health practices, etc. We find that the solution to problems is not more of the same. Every time nature hits a crisis that cannot be resolved by doing more of the same, it begins to innovate and transform. This is what is happening to us now. As crises mount, innovations are increasing in every field. What is needed now is to connect what is working, to develop greater synergy among innovations. On a personal level, each crisis we face, especially depression can be seen as a driver to find out what more wants to be expressed, what more potential is emerging within you.

6. You talk about A Spirit-Motivated Plan of Action? What is that? Answer: Given the immediacy of our environmental and social crises, especially global warming, it is obvious that we need a coordinated plan, as great or greater than the technological plan for the lunar landing. John F. Kennedy proposed that we place a man on the moon and bring him back alive “in this decade.” I propose that we take the next step. We declare that within this decade: from 2015 to 2025 we, humanity, launch the Global Moon Shot: a ten years process to scan for, map, connect and communicate what is working in the world toward

a sustainable, evolvable, spiritually fulfilling world for all. The book “Conscious Evolution” is a call for social co-creators and pioneers to join together to undertake this great social necessity.

force, a universal intelligence infusing the universe. For scientists and evolutionaries Consciousness is causal, not an epiphenomenon of matter.

7. What kind of new educational system does Conscious Evolution call for? Answer: It calls for the opposite of the current model of education, especially at the masters and PhD level. Instead of specializing into ever more narrow fields, evolutionary education requires us to take a holist, evolutionary, overview perspective. We must see the entire process of creation from the Big Bang to the present and beyond as one continuous process of innovation and transformtion with specific laws of chaos and transformation that can be applied to enter our own process of evolution consciously. It activates a new community of evolutionary leaders, innovators and co-creators in every field and function and invites all students to learn from these innovators as the next stage of evolution, mentoring and guiding the young. It is drawing together a new “memetic code” for the future. As genes build bodies, memes build cultures. Currently our leadership at the head of existing systems, such as politics, organized religion, economics, the arts do not have memes to guide us toward a positive future equal to our potential. This lack of images and ideas and visions to move toward must be filled by evolutionary education both self-education and by curriculum. In my own work outside of the book I have developed a map of evolutionary holistic education starting with the Big Bang, carrying us thorugh our turn on the spiral to the next stage of our evolution as a cosmic species. Every students is assisted in finding their own deeper vocation of their “unique self’ as Marc Gafni would say, and how to find where it is most needed here it fits best in the emerging world. Conscious Evolutionary education is a life-long process of gaining ever greater guidance from within oneself, and from the process of evolution as to how each person on Earth can realize their full creative potential for self and society.

8. You speak of evolution as guided by “Spirit-in-Action with a tendency toward higher consciousness, freedom and order.” Doesn’t scientific evolutionary theory tell us that evolution is pointless, evolving by accident with no direction, guided by physical laws, random mutation and selection based on error in the copying of the genetic code, going down to an inevitable heat death as the Law of Increasing Entropy or disorder drives the universe to inevitable extinction?

9. What can an individual do about all this? How do I participate personally in Conscious Evolution? Answer: Excellent question. The best way to participate in evolution is to discover your deepest life purpose, the impulse of creativity within you and say YES to that. It is to follow your inner “compass of joy,” learning that when you feel joyful, on purpose, alive and creative you are participating in both self and social evolution, provided that your actions are also of service to at least one person as discovered by Maslow’s study of selfactualizing people. Another key is to form small groups of two or more who resonant with these ideas and learn how to cultivate a field of “resonance,” heart coherence, resounding to each other you highest traits and aspirations. There are many good manuals, such as The Co-Creators Handbook, and all my internet classes on The Shift Network, and also Terry Patten and the internet teaching on Beyond Wisdom Craig Hamilton and Claire Zammit, the whole Evolutionary Leaders group, and many others. All About Town… Awakening to the Goodness in Grief Holistic Center of Chicago Des Plaines, IL March 7th, 2015 by Theresa Puskar “When you are in the eye of grief’s tumultuous storm, you must surrender and allow yourself to fully experience it. Then and only then will you be able to move through it to find the quiet peace of resolution.” On Saturday, March 7th I led a workshop on Awakening to the Goodness in Grief at the Holistic Center of Chicago (also known as A.R.E.). Whether you have experienced the death of someone close to you or not, at some point in your life you will inevitably experience grief. In fact, you may currently be suffering from loss and don’t even realize it. You may find yourself suffering from the loss of: • Loved ones through death, or illness; • An intimate partner through separation and divorce; • Your family unit through divorce, or an empty nest; • Your career or job, meaningful contribution to the world; • Self identity through prejudice & social dictates; • A meaningful relationship with yourself through criticism, self-abuse, or lack of “me” time. Grief comes in many shapes and sizes, and sometimes in unexpected places. Whether expected or not, any deep loss is difficult. Much to my surprise, I uncovered my own sense of grief while preparing for this workshop. “Grief can be the garden of compassion. If you keep your heart open through everything, your pain can become your greatest ally in your life’s search for love and wisdom.” – Rumi Let me back up a minute and provide you with an overview of how this experience was yet another gift from my divine. As I so often share, I believe there are no accidents. Life has a fascinating way of delivering just what we need, when we need it. When Ron Hounsell suggested that I submit a proposal on this workshop topic, I was intrigued. While I thought that I had not yet experienced much grief in my life, I felt that I had enough knowledge on the topic to create an effective experience for attendees. However, as I was preparing for this daylong workshop, the universe dealt me a blow that knocked me right 12 Conscious Community - April 2015

out of my sunny disposition and into the eye of the storm. About a month prior to the workshop, I met with a doctor who informed me that my heart was really struggling. As soon as he stated, “I am concerned about your heart. You are lonely, and are experiencing a great deal of heartache,” I felt my eyes fill with tears. I had no idea I was until he actually told me so. I recalled the first stage of grief - denial. I spent almost three hours on his table as he did acupuncture and other healing modalities on me. When I finally said goodbye to him, he told me that he was praying for me. Well friends, when a doctor tells you he is praying for you, you know there’s something up. Thus began my own journey to explore what in fact my heart was struggling with. While I don’t have a partner, after four years of divorce, my ex-husband is one of my best friends. Believe it or not, we have rebuilt our family unit in a new way – one that is healthier, kinder, and more supportive. So I don’t feel much grief or loneliness around the divorce. I continued my search and finally, when I really stilled myself, I realized that the loneliness I felt was a lack of intimacy with myself. The palpable and deep sadness within me evolves around my lack of self-love, self-compassion, and self-forgiveness. I do not truly honor nor value myself. I note that while I can give lip service to my accomplishments, I find it really difficult to simply accept the divinity within me, when having to embrace my humanness in all its shortcomings. I know that I am my greatest critic. For a long time, I’ve known that my soul’s calling was to learn to unconditionally accept myself. For over 30 years I’ve been working on this, and frankly, I still have a long way to go. “There is a sacredness in tears. They are not the mark of weakness, but of power. They speak more eloquently than ten thousand tongues. They are the messengers of overwhelming grief, of deep contrition, and of unspeakable love.” – Washington Irving Thus, weeks before the workshop, as I was preparing for it, I realized that I really needed to be a participant. The worst thing I

could do would be to lead the workshop without fully engaging in the experience. So, as I opened the workshop, I requested three things of the participants and myself: authenticity, vulnerability, and compassion. I felt my voice cracking as my heart opened at the start of the workshop. I was vulnerable from the get-go. We all were. Each of us in our own various stages of grief shared our vulnerability, and it was beautiful. Miracles happen when we open our hearts and minds – when we feel safe enough to express who we are, and what we are feeling. This day was a miracle. One participant, who very recently lost his spouse, realized that he could resurrect a career he had left six years prior. Only when dialoguing with his grief did he discover that he could live his passion even deeper by teaching it to inner-city children.

of the things that struck me most in my audio interview with him was a comment he made about death. He asserted that the one and only absolute in our lives is the moment of our death. He claimed that everything else was changeable, but that moment is pre-determined. I don’t know how you feel about this premise, but frankly, when he shared it with me, I felt a sense of relief. It was as if a weight had been lifted from the massive fear baggage that I carry. I realized that if that moment is pre-determined, then I don’t need to worry about an “accident” happening that might kill my loved ones or me. If, in fact it is destined, then I can get on with my life - wasting no more precious time worrying about the potential of myself or anyone dear to me leaving before our time.

The day was complete in so many ways. We all laughed and cried together, sharing stories of loss, tears of compassion, and glimpses of hope. While I structured the workshop with some anecdotes and theories, a great deal of our time was spent doing and sharing experiential exercises. I think that most significantly, attendees uncovered ways in which they could move forward in their lives - out of the darkness and into the awaiting light.

So often I catch myself saying, “If my parents die…” or “If I die...” Whether pre-determined or not, the reality is not “if,” but “when.” It is all a mystery, yet this I know: while I’m on this earth, I want my life to be as glorious, delicious, and rich as it possibly can be. I hope and pray for the same for each of you. For when all is said and done, I doubt we will measure our time on earth in years, but more in the experiences we celebrated while here.

“Realizing that we’ve surrendered our self-esteem to others and choosing to be accountable for our own self-worth would mean absorbing the terrifying fact that we’re always vulnerable to pain and loss.” – Martha Beck During one of the experiential exercises, I had the group dialogue with their grief, asking what the inherent message was that the grief wanted to express to them. Realizing that my grief needed to be heard as well, I took some colored crayons and began to draw. First thing on the page was a broken heart – one half saddened, and the other half crying out, “I’m not done yet. I’m tired of being afraid of everything.” I then drew a hummingbird, and her message was “I want to sing, to fly. I am you. I am in you, and it’s time you claimed me. You are the miracle. Receive. Receive. Receive.” These messages were perfect, and while they may not make sense to you, they were crystal clear to me. Each one of us has messages that our grief yearns to express. At the workshop some shared theirs, while others chose to keep them private. Some were already aware of the wisdom their grief spoke, while others found themselves surprised at what bubbled to the surface. Each expression was a gift - whether voiced through art, writing, or simply through thoughts. Each had its own inherent wisdom that was rooted in our deepest sense of sorrow and sadness. Giving them expression nourished them into budding seedlings of possibility.

I will be facilitating another Awakening to the Goodness in Grief workshop this summer. Details will be forthcoming. I look forward to continuing my healing journey one tear, one hug, and one belly laugh at a time. My intention is to open my heart to the endless possibilities that await me as I continue to practice authenticity, vulnerability, and heartfelt compassion towards myself and others. I hope and pray you will join me in doing so. Theresa Puskar, our All About Town contributor, is a writer, trainer, speaker, and inspirational audiobook producer. ASTROLOGY BASICS 101 Elements and Modes

by Kaye Berjot In Western Astrology, the signs are divided into four elements and three modes. The four basic elements are Fire, Air, Earth, and Water, and the three modes are Cardinal, Fixed, and Mutable. The Fire signs are Aries, Leo, and Sagittarius. Like fire these signs have different states. For example, when you start a fire it begins as a small illumination, and can then move into a blazing state until it eventually smolders. The signs act in a similar manner; Aries is the beginning, Leo is the blaze, and Sagittarius is the smoldering. Gemini, Libra, and Aquarius are the Air signs. Air is a requirement because it allows us to breathe. Without it, we, along with our ideas would suffocate. Air can present itself as a gentle wind that doesn’t stop until it comes upon a barrier, a gentle breeze that allows us to catch our breath, or as typhoon-like winds that quickly change the state of the surrounding elements. Gemini is like a gentle wind, it’s always in movement and searching for the next thing to playfully toss around. Libra is the wind that is given to you when you can’t breathe on your own, and Aquarius is the wind that can sometimes take your breath away. Earth signs are Taurus, Virgo, and Capricorn. These signs are quite durable because they provide an environment suitable for growth. Freshly laid soil is only untouched once, once it’s touched its nutrients are exposed, and when things begin to grow within that soil it is deemed to be suitable, and therefore requires no further change. Taurus represents the pure state of the soil, Virgo represents the new state of the soil, and Capricorn represents the permanent state of the soil. The remaining three signs are Water signs, and they are Cancer, Scorpio, and Pisces. Water can appear in many ways, via a light rainfall that provides nutrients to a small garden, a torrential downpour that clears away debris, and even from previously frozen water that melts and finds its way to the creeks and crevices that have become empty. I think of Cancer as being the light rainfall, Scorpio as the downpour, and Pisces as the water that appears after the ice has thawed. Modes are also known as the qualities of the signs within a chart. I view modes as being the stance or position that is taken. A Cardinal mode can be viewed as taking the position of leader, Fixed mode can be seen as the center of attention, and the Mutable mode can be seen as the mode that changes and transforms itself to fit the need of the moment. 14 Conscious Community - April 2015

Aries, Cancer, Libra, and Capricorn are grouped as Cardinal signs and I view them as being the pillars in a chart. Their goal is to make progress and to move forward, and the way in which they do this is by being the leader. Cardinal signs will push doors open, even when the next sign doesn’t want that door to be pushed open. Fixed mode signs like to keep things in place. They like to be the center of attention, and you have to have a very good reason for asking them to deviate from their position. They can be likened to bodyguards in that manner because they are there to make you question whether or not you want to abandon a path or to continue along on that path. Fixed signs are Leo, Aquarius, Scorpio, and Taurus. The group of signs that carries forth the vision set out by the Cardinal signs is Mutable and those signs are Sagittarius, Gemini, Pisces, and Virgo. Once an idea has made it past the bodyguards it’s able to be communicated and shared with others. Mutable signs take all of the learnings from the Fixed signs, and pass them along to the next Cardinal sign, in a way they expand upon the original idea. In all of our charts we have all of the elements and all of the modes, and some charts will have a greater emphasis on a particular element or mode while others will not. To me, greater emphasis implies that you may have a chart with a lot of planets in Air signs, and those Air signs might be a Cardinal sign. For example, if you have five planets in Libra, that could indicate that you are a leader that breathes life into the house Libra occupies within your chart. In another example you may see a chart that has five planets in Aquarius, a fellow Air sign but with Fixed mode. A grouping of this type would indicate an individual that brings communication of what needs to change, or of what’s blocking the path to change. We all have unique charts, and although the principles are the same for elements and modes, how they are being utilized changes from one individual to the next. Therefore, it’s important to be aware of this when reading your chart and comparing it to others. As with anything we do in life, moderation is key, and as we know it is not always easy to discern when moderation is required. Here are a few tips to keep in mind during your astrological studies; hopefully they will help you to identify when to push the gas pedal and when to pump the brakes.

1. Fire is great as long as it warms you, yet not so great if it catches your house on fire. 2. Air is beneficial when it carries pollen to your plants yet less beneficial when it blows all the petals off of your flowers. 3. Earth is a suitable planting ground so make sure to plant your most important ideas in places where they can survive. 4. Water is a life force that changes state, and it’s wonderful when the water is clear and clean, and is detrimental when it’s polluted. 5. Be Cardinal when you need to lead, be Fixed when you need to question, and be Mutable when you need to be flexible. Most importantly, be kind to yourself! As always, thank you for being a part of the Conscious Community Magazine family, and we value and appreciate your support! Until next time!

From the Heart Humbled and Exalted by Alan Cohen Would you mop the floor of someone who defeated you? Probably not. Yet there might be gold in such an experience. Akoni Pule was elected to the Hawaii State House of Representatives in 1947. He served for two years, and then he was defeated for reelection. Then Mr. Pule did something hardly anyone would do. He took a job as a janitor in the Congress building so he could continue to be in the energy of politics and learn more about how the legislature worked. It must have been very humbling for Mr. Pule to mop the floor behind the man who defeated him. Two years later Pule ran for election again, was elected, and went on to serve continuously from 1952 until 1965—one of the longest runs in the history of Hawaii! During that time he championed highway construction, a thriving seaport, and moved the state forward such that he became a beloved congressman. After a 10 year effort to build a road that allowed local residents to get to jobs at a new hotel, the highway was named after him. The Bible tells us, “…he who humbles himself shall be exalted.” When you feel disappointed or hurt, it’s tempting to get on a soapbox of ego. Yet if we can trust that somehow the tide of events is moving in our favor, we are often led to higher ground. When I was looking for a business manager, I narrowed the field of candidates to two, one a fellow who was new to the industry and another who had more experience. When I hired the more experienced applicant, the other fellow was disappointed, yet he told me that if I had any projects for him, he would be happy to work on them. I gave him one project. After a few months I found the new manager’s motivation lacking, and he did such a poor job that the business was faltering. It was clear that I needed to let him go. The other fellow had done a great job on his one project, so I hired him to take over the business. He did an excellent job, and we worked together for seven years, during which the business prospered. In the Talmud we are told, “He who seeks to gain reputation shall lose it. He who does not seek reputation shall gain it.” The alternative to seeking reputation is to seek to help people. Albert Schweitzer said, “The only ones among you who will be really happy are those who will have sought and found how to serve.” When things appear to be going wrong, they may be part of a bigger picture that is going right. The ego judges by individual incidents. The spirit is more interested in themes and energy. A friend of mine used to sell cars. One day a big deal fell through and he got depressed. “Don’t worry about it,” the boss told him. “It’s all in the averages.” The record books never show the score at halftime. 16 Conscious Community - April 2015

The fascinating documentary, Kings of Pastry showcases an exclusive contest in France held once every four years. Talented chefs came to compete for a coveted title as Master Pastry Chef, bestowed only upon a few. One chef, Philippe, prepared for months to create a complex pastry sculpture, a towering jawdropping work of art. Just to look at it was inspiring! As Philippe delicately placed his piece de résistance on the judges’ table, a piece at the bottom broke off, and the entire sculpture crumbled to the floor, into 1000 pieces. What a gut-wrenching loss for this chef who had put his heart and soul into the project! In the wake of such a catastrophe, there was no way he would win the title. The man broke into tears, along with the previously stone-faced judges. It was a disastrous moment. Yet instead of dropping out, Chef Philippe went back to the kitchen and fashioned a very modest replacement, nothing like the original. He submitted it not for the quality of the piece, but for the sake of dignity. At the end of the contest five of the 16 applicants were awarded the coveted title. To my amazement, Chef Philippe was among them. I believe he won because the judges evaluated him not on the basis of the one piece that fell apart, but because they had observed him in the process of creating it, and they saw it before it hit the floor. They judged him on his overall talent rather than one presentation. We all have experiences that are humbling, as well as those that are exalting. If we seek praise, we shall crash. If we seek talent, integrity, and service, we shall soar. Even if you do not have a highway named after you, or you do not get the coveted title, your soul will be satisfied, and you will be at peace with yourself. Life asks no more of you than this. THE MAGICAL WORLD OF NUMBERS April... Spring into Action Through Planning by Elizabeth Summers Focus, discipline, stability, security energy…sounds like a boot camp but these are the energies of April. All the scattered thoughts and behaviors of March are now settling down into practical applications. April, the fourth month of the calendar year, brings organization and planning more into focus. Whether gardening, deciding which walls to paint, where all the tools and gadgets in the newly cleaned out garage need to go, the Number Four is a great support system to lead us forward. During April, one might feel like “putting life in order” and all the surroundings of one’s life experience, too. Thinking things through step by step, carefully budgeting monies and laying a foundation for a social life to come in Summer just might take up a lot of “thinking time”. The Number Four equates to the sign of Taurus in Astrology. Taurus energies love the “good life”…good foods, luxury, beautiful homes, rocks, wood…an earthy and stable environment. Digging in the dirt, gardening, cooking, experimenting with wines, liquors, herbs…you name it, brings Taurus and Number Four comfort and fun! In ancient Tarot Number interpretations, the Number Four is the Emperor card exhibiting control and will power in making decisions. Using reason and not emotions, this Emperor vibration creates concrete organizations and structure. Armed with these thought processes, the Emperor knows what to do and when to do it. Accounting, building, military, architect are but a few occupations that offer productivity to Number Four, Taurus and the Emperor. The term “salt of the earth” is frequently a phrase used to identify this no nonsense vibration. The geometric associated with the Number Four is a square. Those born on birth day Numbers adding to a Four chose this day because it offers the framework, socially, materially and financially that this personality energy is striving to carry out. This “four-square” person is a good efficient worker who enjoys doing things with head and hands. The energy of self -discipline binds him to a need for a conventional routine. This subconscious fear of “no one can do things better than I can do them” can lead to physical issues of stress and heart burn! Taking vacations frequently is unheard of because there is a distinct tendency to be a workaholic. Change is not the favorite situation for Number Four’s to be involved in…flexibility and un-scheduled adventuresomness is not a strong point! The Number Four personality has a peculiar tendency to view everything from an opposite angle to everyone else. For instance, in an argument, a Number Four may deliberately take the other side. Even with the best of intentions, this seemingly quarrelsomeness nature brings about the opposition. Thus, the secret enemies list of the Number Four grows ever longer. Neither governments nor communities are safe from the rebellious attitude of the Number Four as they will make valiant

attempts to reverse the order of things through instituting new rules and regulations for all to live by. Favorite themes attracting this “rebel with a cause” are social questions and reforms of all kinds, yielding very positive, unconventional views and opinions. Feelings run deep when discussions of patriotism, loyalty to friends and family duties are discussed. Although as a rule, the Number Four makes few real friends, to those they do have they are most devoted and loyal. The Number Four will always play the part of the “under dog” in any argument or cause so think carefully when you are picking sides. In addition, tact and diplomacy are not necessarily a strong point for the Number Four simply because they bend over backwards to be truthful. A child born on any day adding to Number Four, including Four, could best be described as the “different” one in the group. Frequent trips to the principal’s office occur as the Number Four thoroughly enjoys doing things just the opposite of the other kids. Grown- ups look at this as anti-social behavior and rebellion. Nevertheless, the Number Four personality of the child is slow, deliberate, cautious and methodical. They are usually high-strung and have difficulty expressing feelings verbally. Their easilybruised emotions cause moods that will be hard to shake, which play themselves out as contrary and expressing unconventional behaviors. When dealing with relationships, Number Fours express love and emotional feelings from the physical and intellectual sides. These relationships are likely to have their ups and downs. A Number Four frequently chooses relationships that come from out of his or her own ethnic, social or religious background. The Number Four is apt to repress his feelings because of his tendency to over discipline himself. Others may not give their love to him because they feel it is unwanted. With an attitude that is more or less indifferent as to the accumulation of wealth, Number Four is seldom as successful in worldly or material matters as other vibrations. Although an extrovert and very goal-oriented, Number Four values money only as an essential ingredient for achieving security, which is of utmost importance to them. April and the early signs of Spring is when Mother Earth begins to step up and show her potential for the upcoming months. The winds blow house-cleaning the trees, animals begin to scamper, babies animals find themselves in a whole new environment with mom and some dads and we find ourselves stepping out more into the fresh air, soaking in the new rays of sunshine, and beginning to feel that “all is right with the world!” Spiritually guiding clients since 1988, Elizabeth Summers provides practical information by combining Numerology, Astrology and Tarot interpretations in her personal readings Website: www.themagicalworldofnumbers.com

It is accessible through meditation, but you have never explored inside.” Say what? When I heard that at age17, I sensed my life would change. I was deeply inspired to practice yoga and meditation, and to tune into my inner world. I knew I was meant to continue on this path. I was ready for heaven on earth! Yet, the path of yoga has not been easy for me. I have had an especially hard time with meditation. I learned the techniques of yoga over several years with many teachers and then began to teach classes and workshops. Merely learning techniques is the easy part. Some say we are called to teach in order that we may learn more comprehensively. But, practicing proficiently and routinely is entirely different. For years I had a daily routine that was satisfying yet it left me unable to reach the subtler stages of concentration that leads to a deeper experience of true meditation. My meditation practice wasn’t always successful in large part because I disregarded daily basic training. I didn’t sufficiently take the time to employ the necessary preparations for a sustained amount of still sitting. I spent years skipping very important steps. I was just not self disciplined enough. I didn’t implement enough hatha yoga asanas, develop sufficiently calm, deep breathing or apply deep relaxations in my routine. These preparatory steps together form an important basis for meditation. To begin, hatha yoga asanas are a perfect set of body stretches designed originally to focus on the spine and the central nervous 20 Conscious Community - April 2015

of a

Yogini

system. A healthy, flexible spine is necessary for the strength to sit comfortably upright during a sustained meditation. This is generally coupled with diaphragmatic breathing and body/ mind techniques to release auxiliary tension. After this organized preparation, the mind begins to calm down considerably. As thoughts settle, the mind can be harnessed, focused, and the process of meditation flows gently. Without doing these steps, my mind usually couldn’t focus. I was lost inside my head, not meditating at all! Thoughts floated from here to there, from past to future. Or I was preoccupied with my responsibilities. My mind jumped around, filled with an assortment of impressions, all in the way of the intention of the higher Self. Another thing I failed to do for years was to get myself up early in the morning, which boiled down to not going to bed early enough the night before. And I couldn’t do that either if I ate too late or if I ate too much. When the body and mind are disturbed by fatigue, pain, hunger, indigestion, etc., it hinders progress and robs us of composure. Routine is necessary to organize the many preoccupations that make up our modern world. Foresight is required in order to realize our intentions and reach our goals. We are more easily overcome by the demands of the world than we realize, getting sick before we suspect and bewildered, perhaps without even knowing, by the outer world to such an extent that responsibilities and multitasking cover and hide us from our true Selves.

“The world is too much with us; late and soon, Getting and spending, we lay waste our powers: Little we see in Nature that is ours; We have given our hearts away, a sordid boon!” The World Is Too Much With Us, William Wordsworth

Vedanta teaches us to remove those things in the world, or in the mind, which are obstacles by saying neti neti, which translates as “not this, not this.” This process of elimination provides steps that further our progress where we simply see some things as nonessential or unnecessary. We can ask the question: “Do I need this to continue my spiritual progress?” and “Is this what I am

searching for?” and answer them honestly. If the answer is “not this” then gently discard it. You don’t need it, so you needn’t hold on to it. This allows us to softly continue to progress without passing judgment. The goal of yoga is to move ever inward, releasing auxiliary attachments. Yoga is a science that teaches us to quiet body, the energy field and the mind, in that order, so we may then forget them and absorb back into the realm of Cosmic Consciousness. Not everyone can easily sit still or learn to quiet the mind for very long. I wasn’t when I was a teenager! I had the desire to reach the goal, but not the conviction. I did not harness the power of sankalpa shakti, the will and determination to train my body/mind and deepen meditation. Most things worth learning require patience, perseverance, and determination. For spiritual transformation that lasts beyond this body/ mind and this lifetime, we need right knowledge coupled with self-discipline. Willing to break old patterns, we students of self-growth accept the hard work as essential, laboring regularly and lovingly. Cynthia Gran loves to cook and garden. The Shared Heart

N ew D i m e n s i o n s o f R e l a t i o n s h i p by Joyce and Barry Vissell

Betrayal and the Gift of Forgiveness Have you ever been lied to, or betrayed by someone you loved and trusted? Have you ever been harmed physically, or had a medical procedure that left you worse off than before? Has anyone ever harmed one of your children? Has anyone not believed you when you were telling the truth? Has anyone you loved walked away from the relationship and refused to try to work out the differences? Everyone has been hurt by someone else. How do we get rid of the hurt and move on with our lives? How can we forgive? Thirty years ago we were close friends with a couple perhaps 10 years younger than we were. They also loved our two young daughters, and were the first ones to babysit when we went away for our first weekend workshop. As our first book, The Shared Heart, became popular, the woman, whom I will call Linda, started working for us as an assistant. Then Linda’s husband suddenly left her and decided he wanted to live a monastic life at an ashram. Linda could not afford the rent on her apartment, and because we were going away for the summer, we offered to let her housesit. We returned six weeks later to discover that Linda had robbed us of everything valuable. Because we were going camping and river rafting, I had left my valuable engagement ring in a very safe and hidden place. It was gone, along with the only thing that I had from my grandmother, a beautiful (and valuable) diamond pin. Both were irreplaceable. Barry’s expensive camera was missing, as well as countless other things. Linda had searched through every box and drawer in our home, even dumping out our Christmas decorations, and breaking most of the antique ones from my great-grandparents. Then Barry called the bank, and discovered that Linda had stolen thousands of dollars from our checking account. She was gone with no way to discover her new location. Her former husband had no idea where she had gone. How does one deal with something like that? We loved Linda and trusted her implicitly. It was the betrayal, more than the stolen items that hurt the most. Of all of the things that were stolen, it was my engagement ring that hurt the most. Barry had worked for a whole summer as a waiter to earn the money to buy that ring. He gave it to me in a most romantic way when we were both 21 years old. I dearly loved it! Nothing could replace the deep sentiment I felt for the ring given to me by Barry in the innocence of our youth. 22 Conscious Community - April 2015

Over the years, whenever I would tell the story about why I do not have an engagement ring, I would get tense, and sometimes my body would start to shake. Often I could not sleep at night after telling the story. I just could not get it out of my head and heart that someone we trusted so much could betray us and then disappear. I hate to admit this, but I used to fantasize about being able to tell Linda all of the ways that her actions had hurt me. After a while I just stopped thinking about it, and sometimes several years would go by until someone would draw my attention back to the fact that I did not have an engagement ring. Fifteen years after the robbery I answered the phone and it was Linda. She was crying, and told me how terrible she still felt about what she had done. She told me about her many sleepless nights, and how badly she felt about herself. She was crying so deeply that my heart opened to her. I felt a strong presence of love come through my voice as I told her that Barry and I still loved her very much, and that she must have been very desperate to do such a thing to us. I told her that we forgave her. Since she was living in New England, and we were traveling there to do a workshop the next week, we arranged a time to meet. I told her it would be so good to get together and share our feelings, and that she could begin to pay us back for the many thousands of dollars that were stolen. She agreed to meet with us, and begin paying us back. I ended the call with a lot of love and forgiveness. She never met us, never started paying us back, and never contacted us again. For years I felt as if I had been too loving with her and criticized myself. Just last year I was reading the prayer of St. Francis in which he says, “Grant that I may seek rather to comfort than to be comforted. It is by forgiving that one is forgiven.” In reading those words I felt that Linda had given me the gift of being able to fully forgive someone in this life for a deliberate transgression. Everything I had said to her on the phone 15 years ago was right. The power of love asks that we forgive completely. I needed to let go of the story behind why I do not have an engagement ring. I will always miss my ring, for I dearly loved it. I do not have to cling to the story behind why it is gone. I can let go of the story and be free. I am grateful that I was given the opportunity to truly forgive someone. Last month I was sitting in a nail salon having my toenails done. There were five women my age having their fingernails done.

Each of these women was wearing at least two or three very expensive diamond rings on each hand. The person doing my nails noticed me looking at their rings and gently said, “I like your wedding band.” I looked down at my simple gold wedding band, which we purchased for $40, 46 years ago. I have worn it every single day. The lack of the diamond ring that went with it no longer bothers me, for I have a much greater diamond to wear in my heart…the gift of forgiveness for another. Making The Shift

by Blair McKissock, MSEd, RYT

Over the past few years it has become very clear that people in the horse world are moving into distinct groups, those that do it the “old way,” and those that do it the “new way.” Those who grew up in the horse world in the not too distant past were taught to dominate or be dominated, not in an abusive way, but in a way that demanded that you show the horse YOU are the leader. Some of us were taught to “pop the shank,” or yank on the lead rope to get the horse’s attention, and back them up until they “get the point”, or were taught other even stronger methods of training that include blatant cruelty. There have been many horse professionals who have given us alternatives to harsh training; men such as Buck Brannaman, Pat Parelli, Monty Roberts, Clinton Anderson, and many others who gained popularity over the years demonstrating gentler techniques. Old habits can be hard to break, and change takes time, and it takes more than looking at videos or watching demos. It takes some really deep soul-searching and questioning to decide where on the fence you sit for different ethical issues. It takes discussion and painful challenges in firmly held beliefs to evolve. With a rise in popularity of equine assisted activities, it seems that this shift in thinking is gaining momentum, to the benefit of the horse. To move forward in the horse industry we need to shift the way that we think, and take time to ask the hard questions that make us rework how we interact, starting with the perspective we take toward the horse. In the pursuit of contemplation of ethics, it always begins with questions: Is the horse livestock, here to be a beast of burden and serve our purposes? Is the horse a pet to be loved and cared for? Is the horse a “tool” used to make a better life for people? Does a horse have human emotions like grief, guilt, pleasure, and joy? Do they experience stress? Am I transferring my own ambitions and goals, and is the horse merely the vehicle? Do they possess a quality or energetic “power” that gives them perceptions that humans don’t have or can’t understand? The one thing that horse people have is an opinion, but who’s right? Is there a right answer? There is also the concept of choice to consider. Horses have the power to cause us injury, fatally in some cases. In the wild, they fight off large predators much more fierce than humans. So why do horses depend upon humans for survival and accept our conditioning in return? Does the horse make a choice to submit, or are they simply broken down? It is difficult to suspend habitual thinking and conditioning, and really separate what is in a horse’s nature versus what owners expect from them. Is there some sort of choice in the relationship on the part of the horse that needs to be considered? 24 Conscious Community - April 2015

The next aspect to consider is training. Does a trainer have to have a relationship with their horse? Is it really training if there is to be a real relationship? Can there be an equal relationship between a horse and a human when our social systems are diametrically opposed; i.e. horses have a hierarchical pecking order, and humans believe in equal partnerships? Is there a difference between horses that are trained for show and those that are a backyard “funimal?” Within the field of equine assisted activities and other exploding professions, there are people hanging a shingle and offering services without experience or knowledge about horses, but who have a heart for helping others, and a willingness to learn. Whose responsibility, is it, if anyone’s, to make sure people are properly trained? Organizations including PATH Intl, CBEIP, Equine Assisted Growth and Learning Association (EAGALA), Equine Guided Education, Equine Experiential Education Association (E3A), and others train people to do the work of human/horse interaction. There is also a responsibility on the person coming into the industry that they have to choose where to get their training and do their research. However, they may also choose not to get training. In a well-circulated 2010 article by Chris Irwin called E.A.P.ed Off! questions were raised about what kind of stress the work of therapeutic riding and equine facilitated mental health has on the horse. This article created a great buzz about putting horses in a situation where they are asked to interact with people who are unbalanced or incongruent, and how this affects the horse. If we subscribe to the notion that a horse has the ability to read and react to people energetically, then are we causing more stress than good by asking them to interact with people like that? Are we asking too much from them when they have to have a leader in front, an unsteady rider on their back, a person on each side, and then ask them to listen to a leader, rider, and instructor at the same time? Our expectation is that they are calm, quiet, and non-reactive. There are horses that do these jobs well and seem to enjoy it, yet there are others that exhibit behaviors of burnout after only a short period. What are we doing that causes the burnout and how do we manage it? Do we specially train horses for the work, or desensitize them to be able to deal with riders and clients? Are we doing enough for the horse’s mental health?

How we move forward as an industry is an ever-evolving question, and one that will not get answered any time soon, and we may never come to an agreement on them. The point is that we are having the conversation, and that the questions are being asked. Discussions are happening between professionals, and mindsets are shifting slowly. For those who are questioning and searching for understanding, are we in danger of going too far and romanticizing the relationship between horses and humans? Is there too much inflicting strong opinions and trying to force people to change? There is shifting occurring in more than just the horse world. The state of our society is forcing people to look at long-held beliefs about economics, education, politics, the environment, and global connectedness. There is nothing comfortable about it. It’s a mucky, sticky place to be in, and there are no right answers. The Arcturian Group posted a message that has stuck with me, and helps put issues like this in perspective: “Your work is not to drag the world kicking and screaming into a new awareness. Your job is to simply do your work sacredly, secretly, and silently which will emanate Light wherever you are and those with “eyes to see and ears to hear”, will respond.”

Keep asking the tough questions and having the difficult discussions, without getting caught up in trying to make someone see your point of view where the learning can get lost. As hard as it can be, that’s where the good stuff happens. Blair McKissock, MSEd, RYT, is a speaker and author on equine-assisted and experiential learning. FREE Tuesday Night Program Tuesday Nights in April 7:00 - 8:30 pm What is Geopathic Stress and How Does It Affect Us? - April 7th Why are we most productive in some environments and in some places we can barely function? There are many energies that surround us and affect us both in positive and negative ways. The Earth, the location, and the structure we live and work in all affect who we are and how we function. In addition to these nature energies, we also interact with the energies of the people that make up our daily lives. Furthermore, whether we are aware of them or not, we are also in constant contact with beings of other dimensions like ghosts, spirits and many more. In this lecture, we’ll talk about how these three groups affect our health, moods, and even our future.

Recognizing, repatterning, and releasing these quiet but profound influences can bring emotional, physical, and mental freedom. Memory Resolution is a new body-mind technique which allows expedient access to past memories and helps to achieve complete resolution of the painful emotions associated with these events without having to “re-live” such experiences and without affecting historical memory .If you have been searching for a way to effectively release some past trauma, but have not had any success, come and learn about this exciting technique. Each chakra serves a particular function to make us healthy by governing the chi or energy flow in certain regions in our body, and they need to be totally in balance for us to feel good. Cultivating and enhancing these chakras is vital to sustain our health systematically and prevent us from being ill. Knowledge of the chakra system and its importance, as well as developed practices to enhance and energize them, is true ancient wisdom. Individual sessions usually last 15 minutes. Sound Matters: by Steven Halpern

Consciousness, Conferences and Concerts Every year, I look forward to attending and being one of the presenters at the Conscious Life Expo at the Los Angeles Airport Hilton. This year, the 13th annual was one of the best ever, and I’d like to share a few highlights with you later in this article.

Lynne McTaggart. That takes it out of the “woo-woo” zone and into the realms of science and consciousness, the field that I was introduced to in 1973 through my landmark research into the healing powers of music.

I had barely unpacked before I had to fly off to the first annual Sacred Sounds Conference near Miami. I’ll share some highlights from this as well, as I prepare for a continuation of my busiest first quarter of concerts and conferences in a decade.

I’ll be joined in Novato by flute master Schawkie Roth who is featured on a number of my recordings, from EASTERN PEACE to DEEP THETA 2.0.

Bay Area Concerts Let me begin with a reminder that I’ll be performing two rare San Francisco Bay Area concerts, on March 14th in Palo Alto, sponsored by East West bookstore, and March 27th at Unity of Marin in Novato. Due to the nature of the healing music I share in person, a grand piano is my main instrument. Many of the venues that invite me don’t have one, and without it, I can’t play with the subtleties of the spaces between the notes, nor evoke the overtones that I do on the superb Yamaha C-7 (seven foot, four inch) grand that I record on at Banquet Studios. (It’s like entering the Indy 500 with a Ford Taurus.) However, at these upcoming concerts, the “spirit of place” and the high vibes of the attendees when I’ve performed there the past two years compensate on other levels. At the Ananda Temple in Palo Alto on the wall behind the stage are several large portraits of Yogananda and other spiritual masters. I can feel their presence uplifting mine, even with my back to them, and the audience sees them as they look at the stage. I’m joined in Palo Alto by David DiLullo, master percussionist and drum circle leader. Our duets and his solos add a wonderful dimension to the proceedings. At Unity in Marin, I remember feeling a strong standing wave of energy the first time I walked into the building for the first sound check. I know from prior experiences that this feeling is a sure sign that a lot of positive energy is generated there, and it still reverberates in the subtle dimensions. Leading edge scientists such as Dr. William Tiller have actually invented devices that can measure and document the existence of these subtle energies, as reported in the book The Field by 40 Conscious Community - April 2015

Conscious Life Expo There is so much to say, so I’ll only say a little. I recommend that you check out their entire program online at ConsciousLifeExpo.com. Just reading their program guide and descriptions of the lectures, workshops, and panel discussions can be a revelation. I always look forward to meeting and hanging out with long-time friends and colleagues, as well as hearing new presenters like Dr. Joe Dispenza (I met him in the elevator) and Dr. Eva Selhub, a leading new authority on stress, as discussed in her book The Love Response. The opening keynotes were a celebratory tribute to Dr. Masaru Emoto and his groundbreaking work on the power of intention and water. Gregg Braden presented a powerful summary of his latest work, in a superb audiovisual presentation connecting our own molecules to those of distant galaxies. I’ve seen Gregg many times, and this was the best ever. It was recorded, and the DVDs are available through the expo. I attended many of the all-star panels, covering hot topics from Ancient Aliens to Climate Change and Geoengineering. Many of these subjects are now going mainstream on TV, featured on channels like H2, History Channel, Discovery, and AHC (American Heroes Channel), but the panel discussions go deeper, and add the latest information. Truly mind-blowing. Panels included George Noory (Coast to Coast AM), David Wilcock, Jim Marrs, Dannion Brinkley, and Dr. Sean David Morton. Many now have their own radio or TV programs. All links are available through the expo. Walking through the exhibit halls, I resonated immediately with a booth that featured a large backdrop of angelic imagery that I recognized from my years of studying the English mystic

William Blake. It turns out that this was the booth of Stewart Pearce, an internationally known voice coach. As we started speaking, we realized an instant rapport, and began sharing some of our private spiritual journeys. I think many of you will find his work fascinating. He has books published by the legendary Findhornpress.com, and CDs, which are available from his site TheAlchemyofVoice.com.

Sacred Sounds Conference A much smaller conference focused on a variety of approaches to sound healing. Key presenters included veterans such as Dr. John Beaulieu, best known for his pioneering work with tuning forks and BioSonic Repatterningtm, myself, and master musician Jorge Alfano. He’s a sound healer originally from Argentina, who is part of an ancient Brotherhood. It was fascinating to add his multicultural perspective, as well as to join him on duets as part of the concert on Saturday night. He is also featured on DEEP THETA 2.0. Also from Argentina, Albert Rabinstein shared his work with Tibetan style singing bowls, which he learned to manufacture—the only South American to do so. What made this concert truly unique though was not only the multicultural aspect, but the multi-generational representation. The new generations of sound healers include the exquisite chanting of Paloma Devi, the inner journeying experience guided by Marina Jesica Fontana, and Drumming for Wellness with Jeff Deen.

CyberWeave: Spirituality and the Internet by Mary Montgomery

Kindness is My Religion “Kindness is my religion.”

That was the Aha! Moment I had this morning when I tuned into the Oprah Super Soul Sunday (oprah.com) interview with Pico Iyer, author of The Art of Stillness. During the interview, Oprah stated that her two main practices were stillness through meditation, and kindness. “Kindness is My Religion,” she said. Iyer, who has traveled with and been inspired by the Dalai Lama, interjected, “That’s what the Dalai Lama says, Kindness is my Religion.” Wow! Right between the eyes! Personally, I’ve been struggling about what it means to be loving in one particular close personal relationship. Then there is that infinitely more expansive and inclusive question of how can we love the Other? It was this more expansive and inclusive question that became an issue of discussion recently during our monthly Inward Journey meeting (inwardjourney.com). The March discussion followed a channeling of the teachings of Salem by Diandra. It centered around the question of how can we Love or see the Divine Light in others? Some thought that you need to find that Love or Divine Light within yourself first, before you can extend it to anyone else. Others thought that it isn’t an either/or thing, that we need to recognize that we are in the physical, and that sometimes we’re connected and centered in Divine Light/Love, and sometimes we’re not. When you’re connected, send that Divine Light/Love, yet recognize that we can’t expect to be constantly connected down here on the physical plane. The Dalai Lama “Kindness is my religion” quote provides an important corrective to the Inward Journey discussion. The quote is: “My religion is very simple. My religion is kindness.” This was the last line in the Dalai Lama’s “Dear friends around the world” message written after the terrible events on 9/11 (wildnesswithin.com/dalai.html). A key word here is simple. When we are on the spiritual journey, the road can often become well-meant obstacles: the right or best technique; the need to get into the right or best frame of mind; the right guru or teacher; the right workshop, etc. There is something we all can use, right from our hearts, no matter what technique, religion, modality or lack thereof that we follow. And it’s so simple, so common sense! It’s almost like in 42 Conscious Community - April 2015

his own polite way the Dalai Lama was saying KISS!—and we all know what that means: Keep it Simple Stupid. Of course, once I had this Aha! Moment, I had to do an Internet/ Social Media exploration and share those findings with you, my readers. Here are the highlights of that exploration: The Random Acts of Kindness Foundation (randomactsofkindness.org) is dedicated to inspiring a culture of kindness in schools, homes, and communities. It is an internationally recognized non-profit organization founded upon the powerful belief in kindness, and dedicated to providing resources and tools that encourage acts of kindness. The site is chock full of inspiration and incentives for being kind. You are invited to sign up for their newsletter (Teachers: There are lesson plans!). You can follow them on Facebook (633,300 likes), Twitter (@RAKFoundation, 15.8K followers), YouTube, and Pinterest. You can read and share stories of kindness, and take advantage of an extensive list of kindness resources (Kindness Links, Kindness Research, and Kindness Ideas). You are urged to get involved and help change the world by becoming a RAKtivist—and that’s such an exciting concept that I’ll give it its own section. RAKtivists: This stands for Random Acts of Kindness activists, and is a subset of The Random Acts of Kindness Foundation. RAKtivists believe that kindness can change the world, and strive to exemplify this in their day-to-day lives. The RAKtivist™ program recognizes these individuals and creates a community for kindness to flourish. RAKtivists participate in fun and easy monthly “Kindness Raids” in their own communities as well as the online community. They are invited to download the PDF of “Tag! You’re It” cards that can be passed out whenever you commit a random act of kindness, in order to encourage other folks to pass it on. Perks include access to the private Facebook RAKtivist group and being able to submit guest blog posts on the website. Anyone who is committed to kindness can apply, and there are responsibilities that come with membership. As a member you are a representation of the Foundation, and you are asked to commit to the kindness cause and help inspire others by walking the walk and not just talking the talk. Check out the RAKtivist section at randomactsofkindness.org to see what that commitment entails.

Other website links: Oh my, it really warms my heart that my exploration revealed a host of other kindness-related sites. I wish I could summarize them all here, I’ve just got to mention some of the fabulous Kindness sites out there. So here is a quick list of websites for my readers to explore on their own: randomacts.org; payitforwardfoundation.org; choosetobenice.com; 21daykindnesschallenge.org; kindnessthemovie.com; Greater Good: The Science of a Meaningful Life (greatergood.berkeley.edu); onemillionactsofkindness.com; The Ripple Kindness Project (ripplekindness.org); greatkindnesschallenge.org; The Kindness Project (thekindproject.org); and The Kindness Curriculum (investigatinghealthyminds.org). Remember, most of these sites also have links to their social media sites.

poem by Mother Teresa. Hmmm… You know, Mother Teresa’s “Do It Anyway” poem was inspired by the 1968 poem, “The Paradoxical Commandments” written by Dr. Kent M. Keith. What a great idea for my next column. So, visit my CyberWeave column next month as I explore the impact of Dr. Keith’s insight and inspiration. Mary Montgomery’s company, Montgomery Media Enterprises, specializes in public relations, writing projects and social media development, especially in the non-profit sector. Ms. Montgomery has a Master’s Degree in religious studies from Chicago Theological Seminary (CTS). Contact her via email at monty764@sbcglobal.net. Please use CYBERWEAVE in the subject line.

Kindness apps: I did a search of my Apple iTunes apps store and found some really great apps designed to help us up our daily kindness quotient. I’m not sure about Blackberry, but I bet a lot of these apps have android equivalents. Here are just a few that caught my eye: Acts of Kindness: This app helps you choose a good deed to perform and share it with your friends. You can also donate to worthwhile charities directly through their websites. A Year of Kindness Acts: This app offers 365 days of daily kindness suggestions. Here is one example: “Be a Generous Driver. While you are driving today, be as generous and courteous to others as you can. Wave people through, smile at other drivers and generally surprise people with your impeccable driving manners.” KindKudos: This is a messaging app for sharing and spreading kindness and gratitude. So, this app is about not only doing your own acts of kindness, but about showing your gratitude when you receive an act of kindness. NICE! As I was writing this column, I paused to take a phone call from a friend. Our conversation branched into the topic of kindness, and I suddenly remembered the “Do It Anyway” poem often attributed to Mother Teresa, and reportedly written on the wall of her home for children in Calcutta, India (prayerfoundation.org/ mother_teresa_do_it_anyway.htm). What a fitting way to end this month’s CyberWeave column! Sometimes being kind is not only hard but may be unappreciated. Let’s remember Mother Teresa’s advice:

If you are kind, people may accuse you of selfish, ulterior motives. Be kind anyway. My Advice: Join me as I strive along with you to make Kindness an integral part of our personal religion. Explore the websites, follow the sites that inspire you to kindness, and check out the kindness apps. Let’s all remember to Do It Anyway, not only with kindness, but with the other virtues extolled in that

COSMIC DAILY WEATHER April 2015

April 2015 Overview Another total eclipse, as well as several planetary changes of sign and direction, keep us on our toes this month. The first week is especially active. The Full Moon on the 4th plugs directly into the Uranus-Pluto square. We pass yet another milestone in the global renaissance, bringing another surge of surprises, new technologies, public uprisings and other dramatic developments to our planetary system. What initiatives are you called upon to implement? Jupiter gives a big boost of creative confidence, especially when it turns to forward motion on the 8th. Venus and Mars in earthy Taurus urge us to “get it done” and, when Venus goes into Gemini on the 11th, to spread the news about our progress. Mercury thinks pragmatically when it moves into Taurus on the 14th, as we get our hands around some worthwhile projects—or in the dirt. Gardening anyone? Some will impose their will on events, not all in a pretty or honorable way. Be careful about overdoing, overindulging or pushing your agenda in an obnoxious way. When we are stressed, we don’t always behave well. Take that into account when working with others. We need to keep up with each other during times of such rapid developments. Attention is on relationships, as we seek to clarify our own sense of direction, whether to go solo or seek partnership in life and business. Some switch-ups are inevitable.

FULL MOON Total Lunar Eclipse—April 4 NEW MOON —April 18 Wednesday, April 1

April Fool’s Day dawns with lingering dreams that make reality fuzzy and render us more gullible to be fooled. As the day goes on, however, pragmatism reasserts itself. We attend to the work in front of us. One by one, things get done and crossed off the list. This can be a very productive day, week, even month. Plow the fields of your life and enjoy the eventual return of a good harvest. The end result has got to be worth it to you or you won’t be so keen to work hard to get there.

Thursday, April 2

changing track at this point. Work can be rewarding for its own sake (“job well done!”), and even more so if there is a sense of service and meaning. Feel the satisfaction of contributing your special skills to collaborative projects, or use your finesse in solitary work. Morning discussions clarify goals and maintain enthusiasm. The dots are starting to connect up, which can further spur activity. A creative surge in the afternoon can spill over in laughter and some play time. A refreshing break makes the work move more smoothly when (if?) you get back to it.

Friday, April 3

The Moon enters Libra overnight, at 2:07am, bringing particular attention to relationship, dialogue and exchange of ideas. Expect heightened emotional energy heading toward tomorrow’s Full Moon eclipse. There may be an undercurrent of tension or impatience. General agreement on goals is maintained until late afternoon, when some glitch creates misunderstanding or arguments. Take a deep breath and the time to state clearly where you stand.

Saturday, April 4 FULL MOON TOTAL ECLIPSE, 7:05am CDT, 14 ARIES-LIBRA 24

A whopper of a total eclipse opens the day at 7:05am. If you are in the right place at the right time, you’ll see the Sun rise as the eclipsed Moon sets. Since this phenomenon engages the UranusPluto Square, the old story is rapidly ending. Systems continue to break down, which is really just what we need in order to make the fresh start that is called for. A total eclipse ripples through the system for up to a year. Don’t drop the ball on this one. Take courage and keep on with your own quest for better days ahead. We need to take care of ourselves and each other, attending to practical matters that sustain us in the long run. Wishful thinking does not get us anywhere, only bogs us down in dried up ruts. The Moon goes Void of Course at 10:58am, leaving us poised on an exciting edge. Keep your ear tuned to fresh thought streams that excite you. From Enigma’s song “Total Eclipse of the Moon”: “Many reasons to believe in life, Just listen what it’s telling you. Come and have a look inside, Total eclipse of the moon.”

Sunday, April 5

Easter Sunday. We are ever so aware of issues of death and rebirth, as the Sun squares Pluto. What does resurrection mean to you in such times are we are all experiencing? With the Moon Void of Course most of the day, it is as if we are scanning the horizon for the something coming around the mountain that will motivate us to get moving. At 2:04pm the Moon moves into Scorpio, igniting our passion and deepening the question above. This sign of intensity desires a direct line to the divine, with no intervention to inhibit our empowerment from the Source. We may not all be aware of these surging undercurrents, or even want to be, but they erupt one way or another. Destructive temper tantrums may be one way. Nose out edgy people and step back— no need to further aggravate them. Keep watch on your own mood and find a healthy way to channel your feelings.

Monday, April 6

Strong lunar Scorpionic undercurrents flow strong and smooth, carrying us through the day. Trust your feelings and you will feel the smooth, powerful, revitalizing waterfall sensation. Guidance is available, especially in the morning, along with a surprise as the Sun aligns with electrical Uranus. It wouldn’t be surprising to see solar flares or some electrical surge. Random, wild and rogue are on tap, as in “wild woman don’t get the blues.” Scorpio can go to extreme highs and lows, especially when agitated by the restless impatience of Aries. You gotta do what you gotta do. If you are being true to yourself, the day ends with a deeply satisfying sense of renewal. Have you changed your game plan?

Tuesday, April 7

We continue to be submerged in Scorpio’s deep waters, until the Moon goes Void of Course at 3:42pm, leaving us with some emotional dissatisfaction that needs to be processed for the rest of the day. We may not even know why. By early evening, big news may reveal the reason. Stay steady and trust your feelings as to what is really going on for you. This is a powerful time, with fear and misinformation rampant. Don’t go down that hole.

Wednesday, April 8

A fiery Sagittarian Moon begins at 12:08am. You may sleep through it with visionary dreams preparing you for a very dynamic day. Writers and night owls may be inspired and burn the midnight oil. More interesting news has the buzz going on the morning shows. Even if you don’t normally check the news this early, you might want to today. Something’s coming down and we need to read the signals and figure out what it means. Even as we sort various versions of the story, it’s not easy to tell what’s true or not. Confusion reigns until things become more clear, which is not today. Jupiter in Leo turns forward at 11:58am, bringing forth wisdom from the heart. Consult yours.

Thursday, April 9

Night brings council. Morning brings more news—pretty good news, if you like change. Since change is the only real choice, let’s go for it. Things can’t continue on the way they have been, that is quite clear. The eclipse last week emphasized this point in no uncertain terms, and things are moving rapidly along to fulfill the agenda. By 12:42pm, the Moon is Void of Course. Let’s make

some popcorn and watch the movie of life unfold. Applaud the good bits. Step in and play your part when it’s time. You’ll know.

Friday, April 10

The Moon gets serious bright and early, entering Capricorn at 7:47am, gearing up to meet up with Pluto’s extreme makeover agenda. Meanwhile, mental spark plugs are firing up, fueled by new neural pathways turning on in the brain. What inspirational bulbs are lighting up over your head? What brilliant ideas are exciting you? Let your genius take over. Sketch it out. See how it could work. Then share it with the world.

Saturday, April 11

Venus moves into airy Gemini at 10:29am, like a buzzing bee heading into a field of flowers to collect pollen for honey making. Are you curious, open-minded, ready to play and be delighted? That’s good, because things intensify this afternoon, as the Moon meets up with Pluto and squares Uranus. We need to be ready to meet what comes and for plans to change. Does that mean the news is globe-shaking and delightful? It surely could be! Keep your ears out for the good news that is surely happening all around. In any case, let’s deal with the situation at hand and make it work for the best. When we look at circumstances from various points of view, considering alternative options, we may see some enticing possibilities we didn’t see before.

Sunday, April 12

A Void of Course Moon at 3:15am may leave us with unsettling news or unsettled thoughts. In any case, it’s not easy to sleep. It’s a good thing it’s Sunday. Most of us can take a leisurely morning to relax or play. We need some space to get our thoughts in order, still juggling options that came up in the last couple of days. A Moon shift into social Aquarius at 12:44pm invites us out for the afternoon. There are places to go and people to see. We need input, to deter boredom and light up the day. A change of scene is just the thing, and some perspectives that friends and neighbors can offer.

Monday, April 13

Some motivating challenges are likely to start the day. Don’t let them get you out of sorts. Take care of business and move on. This can be a productive day that may require a creative approach. Bring your heart to the daily grind, and it won’t be such a drag. Insert some humor and keep a smile on your face. Forward motion on the social change agenda should be on the evening news, although we might need to wait until the hosted night shows later on. Do something special for dinner, a little spice or something nice, just for something new and different.

Tuesday, April 14

A very smooth day. Communications networks are humming, as key information is shared and spread like soft butter on bread. This is a great day for meetings, collaboration, teamwork, seminars and webinars. The energy changes in the afternoon. After a short break with a VoC Moon from 2:45pm to 3:12pm, the Moon flows into Pisces. We run out of steam a bit, and seek to relax in a mellow mood, which can last until late, when there is some emotional tension as reality intervenes. Take any

responsibility that rests on your shoulders. Especially if you have had a drink or toke too many, you may say something you shouldn’t have and have to deal with the consequences. Mercury slows down into hands-on Taurus at 5:52pm, which suggests that getting your point across by demonstrating your good intentions and getting things done is the best way.

Eye, we see a new world emerge, slightly out of our direct vision, with our third eye. We may be faced with a moral dilemma which challenges our integrity. How will you and I respond? And how will we respond as a collective consciousness? We cannot compromise. Rebirth is an all-or-nothing proposition.

Wednesday, April 15

Deep mystical waves enter our solar system during the early hours, stimulating our night dreams or meditation practices. Dreams may linger, becoming daydreams and turning this morning into a field of dreams. The edge between reality and non-reality is very hazy, allowing messages to penetrate the veils between the worlds, resulting in some particularly meaningful insights and creative urges. Our mundane reality is infused with cosmic seeds, like glitter or confetti. Romance is in the air, as well as art, movies and fashion. As the day goes on, motivation increases to bring the best dreams further into expression. A Void of Course Moon starts at 6:06pm, extending what could be a powerful bout of creative therapy as we continue the process to rebuild of our reality.

Depending on how last evening ended, your may feel emotionally wrung out and too overwhelmed to start the day on time. The energies are revving up with heightened sensitivity. It can be too much for some of us, especially if we haven’t been taking care of ourselves or have been avoiding issues. Get yourself together and do what needs to be done. The Moon is Void of Course as of 4:37pm, showing some progress. Stay with the program and you will see the light at the end of the tunnel.

Thursday, April 16

Keep on keeping on, as they say. There is no clear agenda until later in the day, when the Moon jumps into impulsive Aries at 4:00pm. Action then picks up rapidly. In the meantime, take stock of your situation, acknowledging what work yet needs to be done to get where you want to go. Reaffirm your vision of how things can be and imagine how it will feel. When we imprint our cherished dreams into the spacetime matrix, there is a shimmering response at some subtle yet effective level. Close the day with your sights set on goals for tomorrow. Pluto turns retrograde at 10:51pm, making a slow turn, as on a potter’s wheel, to shape the form. A successful clay vessel needs even pressure from within and without. Pluto has pushed the intensity as far as necessary for now. The god of death and rebirth will now consolidate his position, and continue to dismantle any unsustainable systemic rot.

Friday, April 17

It’s one of those intense days, when the darkening Moon activates the Uranus-Pluto square, with intimation of an end game. This is a particularly potent moment with Pluto turning and basically at a standstill. It’s like holding your hand over a candle flame. Are you feeling the heat? and the excitement? Seek the revitalizing seed of creativity in the heart of the surrounding chaos. Move from there, and watch the fractal geometries unfold in their natural beauty. Sleep may be at a premium tonight, with Uranus, the Awakener, setting off fireworks.

Saturday, April 18 NEW MOON, 1:57pm CDT, 28 Aries 25

Subtle vibrations are in play. Do you believe in magic? This Aries New Moon opens new horizons and the door to a Void of Course Moon spacetime, in which intention produces that magic—as long as we believe. We stand on a thrilling threshold. What path will you take? When the Moon enters solid Taurus at 4:31pm, we begin the journey. Those dreams we reaffirmed a few nights ago begin to take form, slowly but surely. A new experience of reality emerges. Venus is in the Eye of the Bull, the powerful red supergiant star, Aldebaran, the Watcher of the East. This stars sees deep into the Universe, beyond the surface into the underlying reality, beyond life and death. Through that Bull’s 46 Conscious Community - April 2015

TAURUS, THE BULL Monday, April 20

The Sun enters Taurus at 4:42am, an earthy sign that likes to get its hand around life. Practical and results oriented, Taurus demonstrates that what we sow is what we will reap. The Taurus Moon continues in Void through the day, sustaining a deep transformational surge that arises from the inside out. Imagine that yesterday a volcano erupted and continues to pour forth a fiery river of lava. In the long run this mineral-rich lava will give rise to new life. We’ll have a lot to talk about when the Moon enters chatty Gemini at 6:28pm, as we call, email, text, twitter, Facebook, Instagram, etc., etc., to find out what is going on with everybody. The standard news programs aren’t likely give us much down home skinny, but the late night shows may be worth watching.

Tuesday, April 21

It’s a busy day, with lots of balls to juggle. With all good intentions to stay focused and on the ball, you’re bound to drop some, as attention is easily distracted. Romance is one good reason, with the rosy color of love in the air. Whatever their reasons or excuses, flaky people are everywhere, it seems. (Not you, no!) It is most important to listen, be kind, and repeat your words to make sure you said what you meant to say and that the other person understood you. Don’t send emails until you have read them and edited as necessary. Don’t make assumptions. If you follow all those rules today, you’ll still wish it were Friday when it’s over. Pretend that it is and have fun tonight!

Wednesday, April 22

Earth Day! Celebrate by hugging a tree, visiting a park, joining a march for environmental wellbeing. The Moon is Void beginning in the wee hours, at 12:38am, and remains so all day, with a sense that anything can happen and we can make it do so. Something profound is happening. Let’s “make a joyful noise,” with creative

artistry and do something meaningful. Stand your ground. The Moon enters careful Cancer at 11:25pm, for cozy sleep.

Thursday, April 23

to gear up for the workweek and even take care of a few pieces that got missed during the day. A list to start with tomorrow is a good way to get organized, as we set some goals for the week.

Feeling into the mood of the day is the key thing. The flow is strong and we want to be going with it, even while we are reflecting on our personal situations and inner worlds. We feel a need to be thoughtful, thinking back over everything that has been going on in the last few days or longer. A lot of pieces to the puzzle have been shifting. Our heads have been awhirl with so much information coming in. Maintaining a low-key approach gives us time to put it all together and center ourselves for the next wave.

Friday, April 24

Pluto intensity begins the day, as the Moon looks across the heavens at this remote, dark, sometimes fearsome planet, lurking on the outskirts of the solar system. Some people are clearly out of sorts, haunted by unnamed fears that push their reactive buttons. If you are one of them, please don’t take it out on your loved ones. Talk it out with someone who cares. The potential for renewal is the gift of this god of death and rebirth, who clears the decks for revitalization. For some, just the thought of change brings up resistance. Pluto cuts right through that, bringing up whatever is getting in the way of your growth. Face the necessity to let go of something, and discover new impetus in your life. This is one of those especially interesting days that generates a lot of news to talk about, personally and globally. The Void of Course Moon starting at 12:04pm leaves us with plenty of conversational material to unpack for the rest of the day and night. Let your family know you care. Focus on what you and yours need for emotional wellbeing.

Tuesday, April 28

Wake up prepared for a productively satisfying day. Things get done more smoothly than we might expect. We can sustain the effort into the afternoon, when we are likely to run out of steam or get distracted, or just plain need a break. Don’t try to push at this point, or you will probably miss things and even mess things up. If you really need to get things done, work through lunch hour and take a late one. Some people just won’t want to go back to work later on. Sometimes kicking back with feet on desk can be inspiring. May it be so for you.

Wednesday, April 29

We’re back on track today, organized and efficient. Like yesterday, ride that wave as long as you can until you need a break. Take an energizing walk or lunch out for a change of scene, refreshing your mental capacity for another surge of productive output in the afternoon. When the day is done, you’ll be glad see how many items are crossed off your list of to-dos.

Saturday, April 25

A fiery Leo Moon starting at 8:13am suggests a play day, if not a big sports day. Adventure beckons, the quest of the hero. High motivation spurs us on, pulling even confirmed couch potatoes out the door to seek what makes their hearts sing. If what it takes is the lure of a good dinner at a favorite restaurant and a night out on the town, then go for it.

Sunday, April 26

The weekend fun continues with a creative flair. Artists are in their zone. If your hobby is clothes shopping, this is the perfect day to try new styles and perk up your look. Change things up. Dare to be different. Variety is the spice of life. By late night, many of us hunker down, though some may find a second wind. Others may feel the spark of love.

ARE YOU:

Monday, April 27

A Void of Course Moon starts at 9:12am, lasting all day, with some crossing of wires, misunderstandings and even stubborn attitudes. If you don’t love what you’re doing, you’re not going to be a happy camper about going back to work today. The grumpiness is bound to show. If you planned in advance, you may have put in to take today off. Brilliant! When it enters Virgo at 8:07pm, we’re more ready
