PUBLISHER’S LETTER

THE POWER OF THE HEART “The heart is the perfection of the whole organism. Therefore the principles of the power of perception and the soul’s ability to nourish itself must lie in the heart.” — Aristotle

T

his month’s issue is about the power of the heart, the heart chakra and gratitude. Thank you to the thousands of new and returning readers that have joined Conscious Community Magazine this month. Our community is expanding, and it’s great to see that so many people want to feel, want to be connected, and want to be in a community of like-minded people. Did you know that the electromagnetic field generated by the heart is about 60 times greater in amplitude than that of the brain, and can be detected by an electrocardiogram (ECG) anywhere on the surface of the body?! The heart’s magnetic field is about 100 times greater than that of the brain, and can be detected up to three feet away from the body, according to the book Science of the Heart by Rollin McCraty.

KATARZYNA (KASIA) SZUMAL PUBLISHER

Many spiritual traditions emphasize the importance of the heart as a gateway to higher states of being. In the Christian tradition, Jesus offered his followers the truly heart-based commandment, “Love thy neighbor as thyself,” which embraces the qualities of loving-kindness, compassion, and joy for ourselves as well as others. In the Buddhist tradition, the gateway for entry into the heart’s energy is the discipline of mindfulness. Mindfulness is developed through a meditation practice in which practitioners are attentive to their bodily states, emotions, sensations and thoughts. Our heart chakra (located in the middle of the chest) is a getaway into the spiritual realm, as well as the deeper spiritual levels of all of the chakras. When the heart chakra flows well, we feel connected with ourselves. It gives us another perspective on ourselves and the world through which we can begin the process of healing the wounds and traumas of our past, and discover a deeper, truer, more spiritual part of ourselves. Our world is going through a big transition right now. More than ever before, we can ask ourselves, “What kind of lives do we want to live?” I see a world with more heart-centered communities in which the diversity of individuals, cultures, traditions, and religions are respected and honored. I’m grateful and thankful for all of your support and being an integral part of this community. Happy Thanksgiving! The Best,

Kasia Szumal

[COMMUNITY Q&A]

ASK ALECIA by Alecia Rice

Q: I have friends that I constantly disagree with lately. They just want to argue, which makes me want to argue in return. I don’t want to lose these friendships, but under the circumstances, I’m not sure how to proceed. How can I nurture a better way? — Feeling Argumentative A: Dear Feeling Argumentative,

Higher consciousness beckons us towards empathy, to put ourselves in someone else’s shoes so that we may try to understand where they might be coming from. I believe that the current chaos is leading us to evolve the way we communicate with one another, by developing our empathy muscle, which bridges the ego/mind duality with the heart. Sometimes these disagreements trigger us because our ego needs to be right, so that we automatically assume the other viewpoint is wrong. So, why would we want to bridge with something that is wrong? “Pick a team” is the battle cry. As most of us have seen, it doesn’t matter what issue we research, there are always two sides to the story. We can easily find some viewpoint that reinforces our sense of being “right.” Our typical habit is to label things right or wrong, but we can often be right and wrong at the same time. Sitting in this understanding helps us mend our hearts, judgments and projections. As conscious beings, we’re called to pull ourselves up above the muck

of duality into a higher perspective of discernment. This isn’t easy, as it requires us to hover above the magnetic “us vs them” trenches to forge alternative paths through discourse, all the while serving as role models paving the way towards unity. Phew! Big job! We’re called “Lightworkers” for a reason. It is with conscious intention that we point ourselves towards higher resonance. Although, generally, the higher road isn’t the easiest path to take. Many are driven by fears of what our future will be if the nightmare scenarios that the media, politicians, and other bad actors have painted for us about how the intentions of “the other side” will play out. If we’re to co-create a more enlightened world moving forward, we must manage our energy around these fears and become the way-showers of another way. Not doing so leads us further into the riptide of tumultuous emotional waters that we’re already treading. If we detach ourselves from the emotion of fear while still acting on what we care about, there’s no reason to fight with anyone. Once we set this intention, it’s easier to detach from our opinion and hear someone out without being triggered to argue with them. When we allow them respectful space to have their opinion, this is where we manifest the third path where the magic happens. Few positive paths come from us berating others, making them wrong. Our ascension goal is to calmly listen

with presence without the monkey-mind chattering away, trying to defend itself in response to what they’re saying. Instead of trying to convince someone to change their mind, empathy requires us to ask questions to try to better understand, which in turn neutralizes judgment. This opens the doors of respect so that we can find some common ground from which we can begin to dialogue with one another. Change starts here. Rarely do we bear witness to others modeling compassionate disagreement; something that the collective would deeply benefit from. “Compassionate disagreement” means that we stand in a respectful space honoring the fact that two seemingly opposing things can be true at the same time. In this space, we manage our energy by being patient, active listeners who, instead of being threatened by an opposing opinion, allow the other a safe, uncharged environment in which to share their viewpoint. Doing so honors each person’s perspective by attempting to understand why another might have such a different belief. Even if both people walk away standing with their original belief system, the goodwill that’s nurtured reinforces positive things in the relationship, instead of breaking down into angry words that probably shouldn’t be spoken, often accompanied by judgmental projections of negativity. I lovingly challenge each of you to show up to practice sowing goodwill back into the world. From where I sit, the world could use a lot more respect and appreciation of the fact that all paths lead to the same place. Some are merely longer and fraught with more difficulty. A GRATEFUL GENEROUS HEART by Ellen Grace O’Brian

A grateful heart is a magnet that draws to us what is harmonious and good. This idea is reflected in a playful metaphysical adage: not, “We see things as they are,” but, “We see things as we are.” In other words, our state of mind and consciousness color our perception and determine how we see and experience things. Taken a step further, this dynamic explains how we also then draw to us what corresponds with our consciousness. When our hearts are grateful, when we approach others and life itself with gratitude for all that is given, we generally reap more of the same. The opposite is true as well. When we’re down and depressed and can’t see much good anywhere—that experience will tend to compound itself. Life in the manifest realm is mixed—light and dark, hot and cold, day and night, up and down, fast and slow, and so on it goes. But beyond all duality and changing phenomena is the unchanging Absolute Reality that we can know as good, as whole and completely supportive of its divine purpose. Isn’t it 8

| CONSCIOUS COMMUNITY MAGAZINE NOVEMBER 2020

better for us to call forth the good in every situation? To call it forth in every moment? We can do this through training our mind to extract what is good, what is praiseworthy or useful, and gratitude is one way to do that. Simply look deeply into any relationship, or any situation, and ask what there is to be grateful for. There is always something. When we find it, and call it forth, our heart opens and we become more receptive to the presence of divine grace at hand. Which comes first, gratitude or grace? They seem to arise together. Gratitude is our natural response to the gift of grace, and gratitude itself opens us to the awareness of ever-present divine support. When we work hard toward something and accomplish it, or desire something and attain it, we generally feel good, and along with that we feel some relief—a kind of “job well done!” exhale. A very different feeling arises when we become aware of the powerful presence of divine grace that has allowed us to experience more than we ever could have

without divine support. On those occasions, we feel something else. We feel awe. We are amazed, inspired, and yes, grateful. The distinction between relief and awe is a good indicator. It gives us a glimpse into how expansive our life is, how awesome it is or can be.

GRATITUDE PRACTICE Gratitude stretches us to be bigger, to expand our consciousness, to open our hearts and our minds more fully. When we begin the practice of cultivating gratitude, we often notice that it’s generally easier to feel grateful for what we like, for what we want or find pleasant. It’s more difficult to experience gratitude when what comes our way is unwanted. I once worked with a woman who had an amazing gratitude practice. It was so pervasive that it was contagious. I found myself feeling grateful for her because her grateful attitude made our encounters so pleasant. Her responses frequently surprised me and helped me to expand my perspective. This was her practice: Whatever I offered her, she responded with a genuine “Thank you!” Her response was always the same. If I offered her my praise and gratitude for something she did well, she would thank me. If I let her know that she had made a mistake or that something was not done well or right, her response was still “Thank you!” This was the key that made this practice so effective. She was truly grateful, her words accompanied by a genuine smile. She never gave one of those “Thank you” nods accompanied by a smirk. How did she do that? I never asked her, but my guess is that she was a natural at cultivating spiritual awakening through selfless service. She did what she did as an offering, as her way of worship. She was grateful when it went well, and she was grateful when it did not because that gave her an opportunity to learn. Being able to say “Thank you” to what comes, both pleasant and unpleasant, is unconditional gratitude. “Thank you” can be said aloud when appropriate, or silently as a prayer, but let’s say it! We can practice offering gratitude for something or someone that has pleased us, and for something or someone that has not. The first is easy. The second, not so easy. It becomes easier as we hold that whatever comes into our life and experience always brings an opportunity for us. What will we do with that opportunity? When we meet it with gratitude, our potential to prosper and grow in love is multiplied. PAST LIFE REGRESSION Heals Us From Our Past by G. C. De Pietro Born prematurely and later diagnosed with a life-threatening childhood disease, I spent much of my early youth in hospitals. I painted The Red Doors in my 30s, a good 35 years later. I didn’t think much about the painting after I had done it, but for some reason, I felt that it was a scene that I had to put on canvas. When I was studying for my Master’s Degree in Art Therapy, I had an assignment to tell a story that had never been told before in pictures. So, I went back to the Child Life Center at Columbia Presbyterian Hospital and did a photo essay of that place I had been so long ago. I took pictures of things that felt familiar. I didn’t remember the doctor’s 10

| CONSCIOUS COMMUNITY MAGAZINE NOVEMBER 2020

names or their faces, but I remembered the sounds of the carts moving along the corridor, the voices of people walking down the halls, and the bright lights. I also remembered the smell of the alcohol they used to rub me down when I had a high fever. It was like walking in a dream. I developed the photos and was completely blown away when I saw the corridor photo. I had to compare it to The Red Doors. It was unmistakable. I had pulled up the image from my subconscious without even knowing it. In art therapy, everything has meaning—especially color. What interested me most was the color I had chosen to paint the doors. Red may

represent excitement, love and many other emotions. But this particular color represented danger. As a child, I knew that I was in danger. I was, after all, in a life and death situation that unfolded over about five years. My whole life was in the hospital. I would say that about 90% of the time that I was there, I was in danger. Notice that the double doors at the end of the corridor in the painting are similar to the ones in the photo with the light coming in. It feels like a tunnel, the kind of tunnel you hear people who have had near-death experiences speak about, in which they see the light. I don’t mean to be overly dramatic, but

I know that experiences embedded in my subconscious are deeply rooted and have had a huge impact on my psyche. These images and feelings made an indelible imprint, not only on my memory but on my soul as well. Every event that happens to you is recorded in the physical body and the subtle body, which is your soul. The soul is made up of layers and surrounds the entire body. The first and closest layer to the physical being is called the etheric field. This field expands about six inches from the body and goes all around it. The etheric field is associated with your root chakra. Everything you experience is imprinted on this layer; it may also be referred to as the “qi,” “prana” or “the life force.” This energy never dies and is always available to you. The next layer is called the emotional body, which is associated with your sacral chakra. This layer carries all unresolved feeling states from past and present lives, such as fear, anger, injustice, depression, shame, humiliation, worthlessness, and so on. This field extends two to three feet from your body and all around it. This can be seen as your aura. The next layer is called the mental body and is associated with the solar plexus. This layer carries all obsessive repetitive thoughts, such as, “I’ll never be good enough.” “I always have to do everything on my own.” “No one is ever there to help me.” These are the self-defeating thought loops that we all carry from lifetime to lifetime. This field extends far outward and can fill an entire room. The next layer is called the astral body, which is associated with the heart chakra. This field connects us to others and carries karmic ties that bind us together. This can also be called the “collective unconscious.” Buddhists believe that when we have an unresolved negative experience with someone, it creates a thread that connects you to that person. I believe that this is also the part of your soul that can astral project, as I did when I was a child flying around the hospital while my body laid in bed.

The next layer is the etheric template, which represents the entire blueprint of the soul that exists on the physical plane and is associated with the throat chakra. This layer can extend far outward—even to other dimensions– and enhances your communication between the planes. The next layer is called the celestial body and is associated with the third eye or the pineal gland. This connects you to the divine and the angelic realm. This body sends and receives messages from the spiritual realm, telepathically communicates and experiences unconditional love. The next layer, the causal body, is the highest level of bliss where yogis experience calmness, peace and joy. It is referred to as the true self and is associated with the crown chakra. It connects you to all that is, the “I AM.” To know the soul is to know who you really are. You can drop the body, but all your information is recorded in the layers of the soul. That is why when you reincarnate all the information is transferred to your new body. Even physical characteristics can carry over, such as body type and facial features.

figures of light, but by making the darkness conscious.” You don’t have to be afraid to look at your past. Look at it for what it is and transmute it by accepting who you genuinely are. Accept your past thoughts, words and deeds, then let them go. By loving all aspects of yourself, you can truly be healed. By healing your past, you are free to create a new bright future. G. C. Our physical bodies are only a temporary respite for our souls. The soul is a warehouse of information. We only need to tap into its resource to know and receive the information we seek. Everything we have ever experienced in any other lifetime is recorded in the Akashic records of our soul. Luckily for us, our higher self will only deliver to us the information we need, keeping us safe from overload. We can do this safely as our bodies tell us what we need to focus on. Through illnesses, accidents, repeated patterns and soul-searching, we can find the answers to the questions we have. Nothing happens by chance; everything happens for a reason. We don’t have to live in the past, we only have to change fear to love. As Carl Jung wrote, “One does not become enlightened by imagining WWW.CONSCIOUSCOMMUNITYMAGAZINE.COM

[FROM THE HEART]

HOW TO GET OUT OF A COMA by Alan Cohen

I was honored to meet Morten Lauridsen, a genius musician considered by many to be the world’s greatest living composer of choral music. He is widely respected for his stirring opus, “Lux Aeterna”(“Eternal Light”). Morten told me that one of
his dear friends, a conductor who often conducts Lauridsen’s compositions, fell into a coma. After several weeks, doctors could not predict whether or not he would awaken.

dream
of limitation. We have become sleepwalkers, trudging through our days wondering who we are, and why we are here. In the poignant film Joe Versus the Volcano, Meg Ryan’s character
sums up our predicament: “…almost the whole world is asleep. Everybody you know. Everybody you see. Everybody you talk to…only a few people are awake, and they live in a state of constant total amazement.”

Morten went to visit his friend, who was lying inert in a hospital bed. After a minute Morten began to gently sing the chorus of “Lux Aeterna.”Then, to onlookers’ astonishment, the patient raised his hand as if he were conducting a chorus. This was the first time the man displayed any activity since he had fallen comatose. Eventually he was resuscitated. (For a moving journey into Lauridsen’s music, watch the documentary Shining Night, available at innerharmony.com.)

How, then, do you awaken from the coma of a dreary, burdensome, or oppressive life? The antidote is passion. Passion is the avenue through which life guides you to fulfill your unique purpose. When Morten Lauridsen’s friend heard music that stirred his soul, he found a reason to awaken and live. We all have a reason to awaken and live, yet we must act on it to reap its benefits.

This healing incident is as metaphoric as it is literal. We have all fallen comatose. In the Book of Genesis we are told that “…a deep sleep to fall upon Adam,” but nowhere in the Bible does it say that he woke up. We are all Adam, still immersed in the 12

In the classic movie Ferris Bueller’s Day Off, Ferris phones his friend Cameron to ask him to play hooky. Cameron tells Ferris, “I’m dying.” Ferris replies, “You’re not dying, you just can’t think of anything good to do.” If you feel sick or tired, ask yourself, “What might I do during the day that would

make me want to wake up in the morning to do?” Your honest answer to that question will open the door to your next important step in life. When you follow your bliss, you deliver gifts that stir others to find their passion and fulfill their purpose. Frederick Buechner declared, “To find our calling is to find the intersection between our own deep gladness and the world’s deep hunger.” Acting on joy is not selfish at all; it is your gift to humanity. In a world where many people are suffering, those who choose happiness are the lifeline by which others find their own way home. I saw a documentary about a high school student named Steve who was getting poor grades and getting into trouble. His parents and teachers tried to correct him, but nothing they did worked. Then Steve discovered a bird sanctuary where injured birds of prey were given refuge, resuscitated, and released back into the wild. Steve was fascinated by this place, and visited daily after school. He became a volunteer, and eventually got a part-time job. Meanwhile he stopped getting into trouble. The final scene of the documentary showed Steve giving a lecture at the sanctuary to students on a class trip—the very class he had been flunking. When Steve found something that stimulated him, his life lined up. To be true to your passion, you must release activities that run counter to your joy. You cannot simultaneously be comatose and passionate. Every thought you think, word you speak, and action you do either enforces your coma or releases you from it. To get and stay awake you must tell the truth about what brings you life: It, and what saps your life: Not It.

An army general noticed that one of his soldiers was acting weird. The private would walk around the post, pick up papers, and after reading each one said, “That’s not it!” The general
sent the soldier to the psychiatrist, who concluded that he was deranged, and wrote him a discharge order. When the private read that paper he shouted, “That’s it!” Everything in the world either reinforces the insanity that keeps it in force, or opens the door to escape from it. Meanwhile there are bigger, wider, richer worlds that also reinforce themselves if we step into them. HOPE IN THE MIDST OF CHAOS by Lori Daniel Falk As this issue goes to press we are in the throes of one of the most heavily disputed political elections of all time. To say that these are tumultuous times would be an understatement! At every point in history, even during deeply tumultuous times, there are always those who THRIVE. I believe you can be one of those people. I believe we collectively, as the United States of America, can be those people. Since I don’t want you to just take my word for it, I did what I do best ... I asked the angels what we should do. My question to them was simple, “What can you tell us to give us HOPE?” Their answer was even simpler, especially for those of you who have been studying the Law of Attraction for any length of time; “Get clear about what you want, decide what you will and won’t accept in your life and the life of this country, and have absolute faith in a positive outcome.” The angels reminded me that we have the power to resolve this situation. As co-creative spiritual beings, having a human experience, we need only remember who we really are, and put our power into action. We must get a crystal clear picture of what we’d like our world, and our lives, to look like. Then we must believe with all our heart and soul that we can have what it is we are wanting. In fact, we have to believe it so much that we can actually feel the excitement of how we will feel when we actually do have it. And then we must do things that put us in this same energetic state of being, thereby enabling us through the Law of Attraction to actually draw those things to us; to this country; and to our world. Well if it’s that easy, then pray tell (pun intended), why does it all seem so difficult? Once again the angels tell us, the answer is simple; “We are not seeing things clearly. We are buying into the illusion of what is going on all around us.” Rather than listening to the critics, naysayers and skeptics (i.e. the news media), and believing that the sky is falling, perhaps we should remember what is truth. The truth of the matter is that things aren’t really falling apart; rather they are changing, growing, and evolving into something so much grander and greater than anything we have ever known. Let’s look at an example of how this is playing out in our lives. And just for the sake of everyone’s sanity, I’m going to keep it off the subject of politics. Let’s look at the number of 14

marriages that have ended in divorce in the past few decades. As we all know divorce rates have skyrocketed. And, as sad as that is, the reality is that this is just part of an evolutionary process. The old way of interacting in relationships was egodriven, instead of love-based. If everything continued to flow effortlessly in the old way of interacting with others, where would the impetus be to find a new and better way of being? The natural evolution of things often involves the old systems falling apart, to create room, and a reason, for something new. Keeping with this theme of a new way of being in relationship with another, the angels then remind us of the unique and blessed balance that occurs in each of us, when we blend the divine feminine, and the divine masculine energies
within ourselves. Both of these aspects are necessary for life; both enrich our experience here; both are GOD. Our present society has been under masculine rule for centuries; but the pendulum is once again swinging in the other direction. We are entering a time on the planet where the Divine Feminine energy is re-emerging. As individual aspects of this microcosm called Earth, we too are sensing a softening within ourselves; a heart opening if you will; an expansion of LOVE. “Take charge of this situation,” the angels say. What they are trying to tell us is that we have it within our control to create a brave new world. We have it within our control to create a whole new reality; a reality based on love, not fear; equality, not discrimination. A reality in which the betterment of the whole outweighs the betterment of the one; a reality in which we openly communicate our feelings and needs, without fear of retribution; a reality in which those feelings are warmly received, accepted, and valued; a reality in which each of us matters, each of us is respected, each of us is valued for the unique, individual being that we are; and collectively we will co-create HOPE, where once there was only fear. FULL MOON - OCTOBER 31, 2020 The Month of Rare Events by Donna Stellhorn November begins with the energy of the Blue Moon that occurred on Oct. 31. Blue Moons occur every two and a half years when there’s a second Full Moon in one month (or 13 Full Moons during the calendar year). The term “Blue Moon” has come to mean a rare event. The next Blue Moon will be on Aug. 31, 2023.

decide to say “yes” to a big opportunity at work. Or you might choose to launch your own business. You could hire people or engage a company to do services for you. This energy can pull you outside your comfort zone, and with the sheer force of will, it can propel you up the mountain to success.

Now you are in magical, rarefied energy, which is specifically useful if you want to focus on a goal. Between Oct. 31 and when the Last Quarter Moon begins on Nov. 8 is a very good time to do visualizations or affirmations and work on your vision board. This is a time for sending messages to the Universe. Later, after the New Moon on November 14, you can take your plans and implement them in the world. This is when you send the emails, call the people, and make the connections.

On Nov. 13, Mars goes direct. Mars is the planet of action traveling now in the sign of action, Aries. Give it a few days to get up to speed, and this planet will allow you to take direct action on your goals. At this point, everything speeds up, and there are more opportunities available to you.

November is chock-full of astrological events. On Nov. 3, Mercury stops, turns and moves forward. Traditionally, on a stationary Mercury, it means all information stops. It will take Mercury a few days to get up to speed when information flows again. So, you may have lots of questions you want answers to on Nov. 3 but recognize that with a stationary Mercury, it’s likely there will be no answers—at least not yet. On Nov. 12, Jupiter conjuncts Pluto for the third time. This is such a rare event it won’t happen again until Feb. 2033. This aspect is marked by a desire for power. It is where you can take your brilliant gifts for organization and leadership and apply great force to achieve your goals. To use this energy, you may 16

On Nov. 14, there will be a New Moon in Scorpio. This starts a two-week period of growth. The Scorpio moon is also wonderful for intimate relationships. And then on Nov. 30, there’s a lunar eclipse at 8° of Gemini, which we will talk about in more detail next month.

Aries For Aries natives, there is a big focus on career. If you’re looking for a job, you can secure an excellent opportunity. Look at taking a leadership role—even if it’s temporary—as you can prove yourself in the process. At the beginning of the month, communication could be blocked specifically with your significant other. Tread lightly. Relationships of all kinds get significantly better as the month goes on. Romance can happen. Time to restart an exercise program; weight training would be ideal.

Taurus There’s a very powerful energy around education for Taurus natives. You may be working on 2021 school year applications, financial aid packages, etc. You can take bold action when dealing with legal matters. There could be misunderstandings at work at the beginning of the month, but these will clear later. You show lots of energy for getting things done. Look for ways to stop procrastinating. There’s a lot of benefits to cleaning up your office, home office, or decluttering in general. You can sell the extra stuff.

Gemini This month, you have access to resources from others. There are financial opportunities, but you can also tap into other people’s expertise and assistance. Communication in a love relationship could go awry. Take the time to be clear, so there are no misunderstandings. There is a connection with a friend you haven’t seen in a while. This can be a happy reunion. This month, look for some fun things to do, especially if they are activities you’ve never tried before or are a bit out of your comfort zone.

Cancer A person of some influence and authority has taken notice of you. They may be taking you under their wing to guide you in a business matter. Reach out to loved ones who live some distance away. Set up a Zoom call and help older relatives get online. A problem at work disappears. And while you are very busy, there’s more harmony with coworkers now. Consider decorating your home for the holidays, especially if you haven’t done so in several years. It’s good to try new recipes now— especially baking.

Leo Work is exceedingly busy right now, and you may have new procedures or personnel to contend with. Your desk is piled high with paperwork and your email inbox is overflowing. This will improve before the month ends. It’s good to do more spiritual activities this month. This can include meditation, prayer or even a little magic. You are easily seen this month, and your positive influence is spreading. This is a good time to put your thoughts out on social media or to start your YouTube channel.

Virgo There’s very strong energy in the area of love and romance for Virgo natives. Things could get intimate very quickly. When it comes to your money, it may be time to redo the budget. Do some planning now to find where you can save money and generally cut expenses. This is a time to look at investments and see if money needs to be moved. Simplify your life at home by getting rid of excess. Reduce the number of duplicates you have and keep the best. What remains will make a nice donation.

Libra Changes are going on in the home. You may be moving furniture, redecorating, or Libra native, you may be settling in from a recent move. You have the opportunity to teach a class or lead a meeting. All eyes are on you when you speak. There is more harmony in your current love relationship. You’re getting along better than ever. Treat yourself to some pampering.

You might be getting yourself a new outfit, a haircut or a new skincare routine. It’s a good idea to start journaling again.

Scorpio Scorpio natives may be launching into a contract for employment or a large purchase. Wait a few days until after Mercury goes direct on Nov. 3 before signing. Give yourself some extra time for sleeping and leisure this month. It’s good to go back to some wholesome, healthy exercise and eating habits. A secret admirer can turn into a love relationship. Start with some private conversations and see where it leads. A financial opportunity comes towards the end of the month. There will be paperwork.

Sagittarius It’s good to get your finances in order. File paperwork and shred what you don’t need. You may be getting a new source of income, and it’s good to set aside a little for the future by setting up automatic deposits. There’s some miscommunication with a friend. You’re having trouble reaching each other, but it’s worth the effort. There’s a lot of romantic energy, and if you’re looking for love, consider starting a conversation. A new video game may have captured your attention and is taking up your free time.

Capricorn You have more confidence now, and others are impressed with what you’ve accomplished in the last few months. Your charisma is strong, and you could expand your circle of friends and connections. There could be talk of a promotion at work. Capricorn natives who own a business could expand this month. A family member may need your help with an upcoming move or some changes they’re making to their home. Changes in your routine that help you eliminate procrastination are very beneficial.

Aquarius Your intuition is very strong this month, and you may be receiving messages and animal signs. A school project can go well, but make sure your work is saved to the cloud. You might be interested in getting a new vehicle this month. Aquarius natives are wise to wait until after Mercury goes direct on Nov. 3 before signing the deal. You may be taking a short trip to the next town or the next state. If you’re looking for love, you could be knocked off your feet this month. It is love at first sight.

Pisces This month, you may be overwhelmed by the love and loyalty of your friends. The moment you need them, they’re by your side. Double-check online orders or you may end up with double what you thought you were getting. A potential new source of income starts this month beginning as a trickle but could really flow next year. There’s intimate fun with your sweetheart. Make sure to make time for love. If you have been thinking about moving, now it’s time to take it seriously and do a checklist. EAT TO SUPPORT THYROID HEALTH by Barbara Boules

18

Keeping your thyroid running smoothly is essential to good health. This small butterfly-shaped gland that sits at the base of your neck is one of your body’s hardest working parts. All day long, it produces hormones that play a role in virtually every human function, particularly metabolism, digestion, body temperature and heart rate.

include weight gain, difficulty losing weight, constipation, feeling cold, fatigue, dry skin and hair, difficulty concentrating and joint pain. Most people respond very well to a low dose of levothyroxine. If you’re taking this medication, be sure to leave one to two hours prior to eating, as food interferes with its absorption.

This is why when thyroid dysfunction develops we can experience a host of uncomfortable symptoms. Hypothyroidism (underactive thyroid) occurs in about 12-17 percent of the population - mostly women, beginning in middle age. Hypothyroidism is often secondary to Hashimoto’s Disease, an autoimmune disorder in which the body attacks the thyroid gland, rendering it unable to function properly. Symptoms

Hyperthyroidism (overactive thyroid) is frequently a result of Grave’s Disease, an autoimmune disorder that leads to the production of too much thyroid hormone. If your thyroid is overly stimulated you may experience weight loss, diarrhea, feeling too warm, rapid heartbeat, fatigue, brain fog and muscle weakness. Goiter (an enlarged thyroid gland) can be a complication of both under and overactive thyroid. Medical interventions

| CONSCIOUS COMMUNITY MAGAZINE NOVEMBER 2020

for hyperthyroidism include medications, surgery or radioactive iodine, which can lead to hypothyroidism. The cause of thyroid dysfunction is not entirely understood, but autoimmune disease, genetics, stress and diet can all have an effect. The good news is that both types of thyroid disorder respond well to a healthy diet and lifestyle. So, let’s look at how we can best support this little workhorse.

SUPPORTIVE FOODS Iodine Thyroid hormones are made up of iodine, a mineral largely found in the ocean. A deficiency throws it off balance. When deficiency was prevalent in the 1920s, salt manufacturers began adding it to their products. Most of the

salt we consume today is not iodized, switching to a brand that is may be wise if you have thyroid dysfunction. However, we don’t want to exceed 2400 mg of sodium (one teaspoon salt) daily. And It’s also just as problematic to get too much iodine, which can happen if we overdo the salt. Let’s consider other sources. Lugol’s iodine liquid and seaweed are two great food sources of iodine. The daily recommendation is 150 mcg (the amount in two sheets of nori, or half of a teaspoon of dulse flakes.) Three ounces of shrimp contains about 25 percent of daily needs, and one cup of Greek yogurt, 50 percent. Eden brand adds a bit of kelp to their beans – not enough to taste, but enough to provide between 33 and 75 percent of daily needs in one half of a cup, depending on the variety of bean. Selenium The highest concentration of selenium in the body is located in the thyroid. Studies have shown a lower incidence of goiter and thyroid damage in participants who consumed an adequate amount of this nutrient. Ideally, we’re getting 55 mcg a day. Our richest sources of selenium include tuna, halibut, eggs, lean chicken and beef. But, nothing outshines the Brazil nut. Believe it or not, you can get all the selenium you need for a day from just one! Zinc Zinc plays a key role in helping the thyroid do its work. Too little can contribute to hypothyroidism, and hypothyroidism can lead to a zinc deficiency because thyroid hormones help you absorb the mineral. Men need 11 mg, and women 8 mg per day. Foods rich in zinc include legumes, nuts, seeds, lean chicken and beef. Three ounces of crab contains 50 percent of daily needs, and lobster provides 25 percent. Other good sources are yogurt and lean meats. Vitamin D Some studies show a link between Hashimoto’s and a vitamin D deficiency. Plus, hyperthyroidism can contribute to bone loss – another reason to be sure you’re getting enough bonebuilding vitamin D. Recommendations state that we need 600 IU daily. But, recent research recommends 1,000

IU, which is difficult to get from foods. Ask your doctor if you decide to supplement. Swordfish and salmon are excellent sources, as are fortified dairy products and orange juice. Ample sunlight activates our skin to produce vitamin D, but many of us don’t live in locations that are sunny year round. With concerns about skin cancer, we are better off looking to food. Fiber Hypothyroidism can elevate cholesterol, so fiber is your friend. A diet rich in vegetables, fruits, whole grains, nuts, beans and legumes will provide both insoluble fiber (the type that sweeps your colon) and soluble fiber (the type that lowers cholesterol.)

ANTI-INFLAMMATORY FOODS Omega-3 fatty acids found in chia seeds, flaxseeds, almonds, and walnuts, and monounsaturated fats in olive and avocado oils are two great ways to reduce systemic inflammation. Additionally, work on fitting in goodies like berries; sweet potatoes and dark chocolate as well as flavor bombs including garlic, ginger and turmeric.

be getting way too much sodium, sugar, unhealthy saturated and trans fats, artificial ingredients and preservatives.

THE BOTTOM LINE Symptoms of an over-functioning or under-functioning thyroid are often the result of issues including lack of sleep and poorly managed stress. If you feel that you have these wellness concerns under control, and you’re still suffering, a visit to your doctor for a simple blood test might be in order. Don’t selfdiagnose. Do your due diligence and explore your options. In the meantime, get your beauty rest, daily movement and - as always - vitamins, minerals, fiber, phytonutrients and hydration powered by a rainbow, plant-based diet. Her approach is personalized to each client – one size never fits all. She is passionate about the concepts of mindful and intuitive eating, with a focus on antiinflammatory and pro-gut health foods. You can reach her at 312-607-6689.

NOT SUPPORTIVE FOODS Soy Some research shows that the isoflavones in soy can lower thyroid hormone synthesis. However, this is usually not a problem if iodine is adequate. Choose fermented soy products like tofu or miso. Avoid soy protein isolate, the highly refined form of soy found in processed foods, including the Impossible Burger. Wheat While gluten is not the cause of thyroid disorder, some people have shown benefit from a gluten-free diet. Just try to eat foods that are naturally free of gluten like those listed above. Unless you have celiac disease, be mindful that gluten-free crackers, cookies, bread and cupcakes are not any more healthful than those made with wheat, barley or rye. Oats should be labeled certified gluten-free because cross-contamination could be an issue.

PROCESSED AND FAST FOODS Don’t go for fortified foods to increase your iodine intake. Along with it, you’ll WWW.CONSCIOUSCOMMUNITYMAGAZINE.COM

CELEBRATING WORLD VEGAN MONTH by Betsy Bruns In the United States, November 2020 is a dynamic month with much of our attention on health, politics, and of course, Thanksgiving. It’s also World Vegan Month. Each November plant-based eaters from across the globe celebrate a cruelty-free lifestyle. My life transformed when I went vegan. I am grateful to have embraced self-empowered wellness where I take responsibility for my health, my life and my choices. Being vegan means excluding all forms of cruelty to animals for food, products or any other purpose. There are many different ways to embrace the vegan lifestyle, but the underlying “rule” is to eat a plant-based diet and avoid eating anything that had a mother. Vegans also step further than avoiding meat; they avoid fish, dairy, eggs, and honey, as well as products like leather or fur. I struggled for the first year I gave up 20

eating meat. Not because I missed it or craved it. Quite the opposite. I found the “faux meats” very satisfying, and I was eating lots of eggs and dairy. But I felt foggy, stressed, gained weight and had a constant stream of urinary tract infections. Yet, I had a personal peace that I had not known before and had no intention of going back. I forged ahead in my research and experimentation, and that’s when I started to put the puzzle pieces together. It became clear that my vegetarian diet, which included lots of dairy, eggs and processed, oil-laden plant-based meats, was causing my discomfort. Once I eliminated all animal food products and relied primarily on oil-free, whole-food vegan meals, my sense of wellbeing and health soared. Healthful vegan eating not only made my body feel great, it made my soul feel at

peace. I developed a greater sense of gratitude and connection to human and non-human animals. I even changed my career. In celebration of World Vegan Month, I am sharing early favorite recipes that I’ve tweaked over the years so that they were not only kind to the animals and the environment, they were kinder to my health.

OIL-FREE VEGAN MOUSSAKA Serves 6 To me, moussaka is a Greek version of lasagna. Vegetables replace the noodles and the sauce is fragrant with hints of cinnamon, spice and everything nice. Replacing oil in this recipe with aquafaba strips nearly 1,000 calories and over 100 grams of fat. (Aquafaba is bean juice. The easiest and best source is from a can of chickpeas.) I’ve prepared this dish for

holiday meals and gatherings over the years and always receive rave reviews. It’s a little bit of work but worth the effort. For the vegetable layer: 1 medium to large eggplant 2 medium to large zucchini 2 large russet baking potatoes ¼ cup aquafaba For the sauce: ¼ cup aquafaba 2 medium onions, diced 3 cloves garlic, minced (or 3 teaspoons minced from jar) ⅓ cup vegetable broth 1 28-ounce can crushed tomatoes 2 teaspoons oregano ½ teaspoon ground cinnamon Salt, to taste Pine Nut Topping: 1 lb. soft tofu ½ cup pine nuts Juice of 1 lemon 1 teaspoon arrowroot powder 1 clove garlic, minced (or 1 teaspoon minced from jar) ⅛ teaspoon nutmeg 1 teaspoon salt, or to taste pepper to taste ½ cup breadcrumbs (optional) Extra pine nuts for garnish (optional) Preheat oven to 400°F. Line three baking sheets or shallow pans with parchment paper or baking mats. Wash and trim stem from the eggplant and the zucchini. Scrub and peel the potatoes. Slice the eggplant, zucchini and potatoes lengthwise into approximately one-quarter-inch-thick slices. Rub the eggplant slices with a little salt and set aside in a colander in the sink or in a big bowl for about 15 minutes to soften, briefly rinsing with cold water and squeezing out any excess liquid. Pat dry with paper towels if needed. Brush or coat both sides of the sliced vegetables with aquafaba and sprinkle with salt, unless the eggplant is already salted. Spread the vegetables out with minimal overlapping. Roast the zucchini and eggplant for 15 minutes or until tender. Roast the potatoes for about 22

minutes, until edges are lightly browned. Remove from the oven and let cool.

your favorite (vegan) gravy or mustard sauce and mashed potatoes.

While the vegetables are cooking prepare the tomato sauce. Add aquafaba and minced garlic to a large saucepan. Bring to medium heat and let garlic sizzle for about 30 seconds, then add the onions and cook until soft and translucent, about three to four minutes. Add the broth, crushed tomatoes, oregano and ground cinnamon. Partially cover and simmer over medium-low heat for six to seven minutes, stirring occasionally. The sauce should reduce slightly. Turn off the heat and adjust salt.

2 cups cooked chickpeas ¼ cup aquafaba, plus more for brushing cutlets 1 cup vital wheat gluten 1 cup plain breadcrumbs ½ cup vegetable broth or water ¼ cup liquid aminos or tamari 1½ tablespoons minced garlic or garlic cloves (pressed or grated) 1 teaspoon lemon zest (grated lemon peel) 1 teaspoon dried thyme 1 teaspoon smoked paprika ½ teaspoon sage

To make the pine nut topping: In a food processor, blend the pine nuts and lemon juice, scraping the sides of the bowl with a rubber spatula until a paste forms. Add tofu, garlic, arrowroot, nutmeg, salt and pepper. Blend until smooth. Preheat oven again to 400°F. Spread one-quarter cup of sauce in the pan, then add a layer of the following: eggplant, potatoes, sauce, and half of the breadcrumbs. Spread all of the zucchini on top. Top with a final layer of eggplant, potatoes, sauce and breadcrumbs. Use a rubber spatula to evenly spread the pine nut topping over the entire top, smoothing out any uneven spots. Scatter a few pine nuts on top, if desired. Bake for 35 to 40 minutes, until the top is lightly browned and a few cracks have formed in the topping. Allow to cool 10 minutes before slicing and serving.

TURKEYLESS CUTLETS Serves 4 to 6 My husband LOVES these cutlets. Have you ever tried chicken fried steak? That’s what we are going for here. Serve with

Mash the chickpeas and aquafaba together until no whole chickpeas remain. For best results, use a food processer. Add remaining ingredients and knead for three minutes until strings of gluten have formed. Preheat a large nonstick skillet over medium heat. Divide dough into eight equal pieces. Flatten each piece and stretch to roughly three inches by five inches. Place cutlets into nonstick pan. Brush with aquafaba and cook on each side for six to seven minutes. They are ready when lightly browned and firm to the touch. Alternatively, preheat oven to 375°F. Place the cutlets on a baking sheet or shallow pan lined with parchment paper or a silicone mat. Brush with aquafaba and bake 20 minutes, then flip and bake for 10 more minutes or until light brown and firm to the touch. COSMIC DAILY WEATHER November 2020 by Bernadette Evans

Overview It’s a busy month with the election and Thanksgiving. This month, you may feel the need to act, but you’re unsure what that action is exactly. You just feel the time is now. Jupiter conjuncts Pluto for the third and final time on Nov. 12. They first got together in the spring and then again in early summer. Life has changed dramatically since spring began. Individuals, companies, banks and schools have all revamped how they operate. Jupiter expands what it touches. Pluto transforms. Let’s not forget that Saturn has also been hanging out with them for a long time. Old ways are dying off. New ways are being realized, and this hasn’t happened without a lot of hard work and perseverance. Mars turns direct this month on Nov. 13. For approximately the last eight weeks while Mars was retrograde, it may have felt like it was hard to get any traction. It has been a good time to re-examine how you work, maybe revising your action plan. It might still feel a little bit like having the foot on the gas and the brake at the same time for a while. Give it time; things will happen. You’ll be moving forward soon. On Nov. 30, there is a Full Moon Lunar Eclipse in Gemini. Eclipses come in groups of two or three. This is the first of two. The second one will be a New Moon Solar Eclipse on Dec. 14 in Sagittarius. This Full Moon could bring up questions around how you express yourself and learn. Is it time for a certain way of thinking to change? You’re trying to find a balance between communication and spirituality. Your belief systems may be evolving, and you’re not sure how this will change your life. Full Moons always illuminate an area of your life. Pay attention to what your sixth sense is telling you, and if there’s something that needs to change or go, do it. Moon VoC is Moon Void of Course. The times below are listed in Central Daylight Time (CDT).

| CONSCIOUS COMMUNITY MAGAZINE NOVEMBER 2020

Sunday, November 1 The Moon is in Taurus. When Mercury squares Saturn, you may be in a negative frame of mind. It’s hard to see situations or plans in a positive light when you feel like this. You could feel like you need to take some time away from everything and everyone, and that’s okay. It will help recharge your batteries. You have a few ideas about what you want to do, but you’re not quite sure which choice to make. Mercury is still retrograde, so keep a journal of your ideas and let them germinate for a while. Moon VoC at 8:29 p.m.

Monday, November 2 You may feel like socializing when the Moon trines Venus. Have fun hanging out with a few friends and discussing topics. Remember to keep things friendly and light. Don’t get into anything too heavy, arguing over the current state of the world. Decorating and creating a warm and cozy sanctuary could be a priority right now. Moon enters the sign of Gemini at 4 a.m.

Tuesday, November 3 When the Moon squares Neptune, you may be dreaming and wishing for a certain outcome. Be careful what you wish for, as it may not turn out exactly as you’d thought. The lens you’re looking through could be distorted. If you use Neptune and Moon wisely, this could be a day of fun and play.

Play and don’t take anything too seriously. Mercury goes Direct at 11:50 a.m.

Wednesday, November 4 The Moon is Void of Course in Gemini for a good part of the day. Whether for business or your personal life, this would be a good time to gather up all the facts you need. You don’t want to make any hasty decisions without all the information. Be careful of getting into arguments with others while defending your position. Let them have their point of view as well. Moon VoC at 7:49 a.m. until 3:45 p.m. when it enters the sign of Cancer.

Thursday, November 5 You feel like you have everything you want when the Moon squares Venus. You’ve worked hard to get where you are, and now, you want to enjoy the fruits of your labor. You’re generous and loving, and you are happy to share what you have with others.

Friday, November 6 Feelings could be amplified when the Moon opposes Jupiter, Pluto and Saturn. You may want to act in an area of life or finish up a project, but you’re feeling held back. Things have not fallen into place yet. The tides are shifting; give it time. Moon VoC at 7:27 p.m.

Saturday, November 7 When the Sun inconjuncts Mars, it may feel like you are constantly adjusting or compromising. When you try and do one thing, it seems like you have to adjust something else. Instead of trying to force something, take a step back. Spend some time resting and recharging your batteries and your soul. A little downtime may be just what you need. Go for a walk in nature, meditate, journal or do whatever calls to you. Moon enters the sign of Leo at 1:18 a.m.

Sunday, November 8 You could feel ambitious and have big plans for the day. When the Moon squares the Sun, a wrench may have been thrown into your day. That wrench might be another person or a situation you need to pay attention to. You may have been busy and not paying enough attention to someone or something, and now, things have escalated. Instead of being irritated, give this individual or situation the attention they crave. There’s also the potential for feeling down or annoyed. Don’t say anything you’ll regret, and try not to take anything personally.

Monday, November 9 When Venus opposes Mars, communications could get heated. There could be some physical attraction and flirting happening today. If you’re not involved with anyone in a sexual relationship, you could

channel this energy into a creative project that you’re passionate about. Another good way to release any energy that you may feel building up is to do some sort of exercise. You’ll feel so much better when working with the energies, rather than suppressing or resisting them. Moon VoC at 5:05 a.m. until 7:30 a.m. when it enters the sign of Virgo.

Tuesday, November 10 Intuition and sensitivity are highlighted when the Sun trines Neptune. You feel things intensely and could be searching for something, trying to understand the bigger picture. If you can, take some time to meditate or just sit and be. If you’re an artist or feel called to draw, write or pick up a guitar, go for it. It doesn’t have to be a masterpiece or your life’s work, enjoy the creative process. Mercury enters the sign of Scorpio at 3:55 p.m.

Wednesday, November 11 When Venus inconjuncts Neptune, you may be inclined to give the people in your life the benefit of the doubt. Things might not be quite as rosy as you’d like, but you continue to give the other person a pass. Perceptions of others and their motives— or your perception of yourself and where you’re going—may be skewed. Insights about relationships, what you value and how you spend your money may be off-kilter today, so be wise in your relationships and with your finances. Moon VoC at 4:58 a.m. until 10:09 a.m. when it enters the sign of Libra.

Thursday, November 12 Today is the third and final conjunction of Jupiter and Pluto. What dreams/desires/ambitions did you have this year? There could have been a desire to get ahead and succeed in your career. Maybe there was a desire to have a real connection with others. Whatever area of your life you were looking to enhance, it may have been slow going. The old way, the traditional way of doing things, was thrown out the window. The mold was broken. You still have your dreams and goals, but you need to find a new way of manifesting them.

Friday, November 13 There’s depth to your conversations when the Moon conjuncts Mercury. You could feel alive and engaged when discussing topics close to your heart. Remember to leave space for other people to chime in with their thoughts. You may have insight into how you can make your dreams a reality. It could involve being in a partnership with someone else. Watch for synchronicities and opportunities to create something new. It may be time to structure your business plan. You’re a powerful creator with your feet in both worlds. Moon VoC at 5:32 a.m. until 10:19 a.m. when it enters the sign of Scorpio. Mars goes Direct at 6:36 p.m.

Saturday, November 14 The New Moon is in Scorpio at 23 degrees. What seeds are you planting this New Moon? Is there something you’re passionate about and want to pursue? Follow your intuition, and it will give you guidance as to the direction you want to move in. The New Moon is sextile Jupiter and Pluto. There’s the possibility of an opportunity heading your way. Tap into your creativity to figure out your next move. Your intuition is powerful; don’t let your head get in the way or talk you out of it. The New Moon in Scorpio is at 11:07 p.m.

Sunday, November 15 With the Scorpio New Moon energy and Venus squaring Pluto and Jupiter, the energies are strong. It could play out as an intense love affair that changes you and your life. There’s also the potential for it to play out in arguments. You or someone else could be trying to control or manipulate each other or the situation. This will only lead to widening the gap between you. Have a discussion where you really listen to each other and move forward from there, whatever the outcome. Moon VoC at 5:13 a.m. until 9:47 a.m. when it enters the sign of Sagittarius.

Monday, November 16 When the Moon is in Sagittarius, your focus could be on higher education. Online learning is opening up doors to a lot of teachers and programs, with webinars and Zoom meetings now being mainstream. This energy highlights the future. Taking classes is a sign you plan on soaking up as much knowledge as you can. Who knows, one day you may be the one educating others. You could be emotional and irritable with the Moon-Mars square. Don’t get too discouraged, this is a blip in your day. If you’re grouchy and prone to blurting out something that may hurt someone else, go for a walk or breathe.

Tuesday, November 17 The Mercury-Uranus opposition highlights being unusual and wanting some freedom. It could bring some interesting and hidden ideas to the surface. They could be so innovative that they move you forward professionally or personally. You could feel like escaping the ordinary and exploring new ideologies/philosophies with a different set of people. Moon VoC at 1:55 a.m. until 10:35 a.m. when it enters the sign of Capricorn.

Wednesday, November 18 You could feel compelled to take an action that helps you go forward when the Moon squares Mars. A plan along with determination will help you succeed. Be positive; ask for help if you need it, and remember to thank those that give you a hand. WWW.CONSCIOUSCOMMUNITYMAGAZINE.COM

Thursday, November 19 When Venus squares Saturn, you could feel alone or restricted in your relationships. The restrictions could be of your own making. Shyness or feeling depressed can bring your energy levels down. You just don’t feel motivated to connect. You can look after yourself by either spending time alone, if that’s what you need, or reaching out to a friend or partner. Being open and vulnerable, sharing your feelings and hearing what someone else has to say can build stronger relationships. Moon VoC at 10:30 a.m. until 2:25 p.m. when it enters the sign of Aquarius.

Friday, November 20 A conversation could get out of hand when the Moon squares Mercury. Discussions may be intense. Remember to express yourself in a kind and loving manner and to let others express themselves too. You may have the capacity to dig deep to find the answers you’ve been searching for when the Moon squares Mercury. Imagination and power are radiating from you. Moon VoC at 6:49 p.m.

Saturday, November 21 It’s your time to shine, dear Sagittarius. Happy Birthday! When the Moon is void for most of the day in Aquarius, you may feel like connecting with like-minded friends. Spending time with people you care about and who understand you is important. It reminds you that you belong, that you have a tribe to connect with and who love you. Venus enters the

sign of Scorpio at 7:22 a.m. Sun enters the sign of Sagittarius at 2:40 p.m. Moon is void most of the day and enters the sign of Pisces at 10:06 p.m.

Sunday, November 22 There could be some difficulties getting your point across or getting some work finished when Mercury inconjuncts Mars. It’s not possible to always control the outcome as much as you’d like to think you can. Instead of getting frustrated, take a moment, pause, rest, reflect and have patience. Look at the situation or person through a new lens, you could gain a different perspective. You’ll either find a new and different way to approach this situation or you’ll let it go.

Monday, November 23 Your intuition is finely tuned as the Moon conjuncts Neptune and they both trine Mercury. Being sensitive to the energy around you can help you navigate the day. Tap into your artistic side and create something that makes you happy. Whether it’s a painting or a chocolate cake, it doesn’t matter. There’s also an emphasis on communicating with others. Your empathy and caring nature both come in handy when speaking with others, enabling them to open up to you.

Tuesday, November 24 You could have energy to burn and exude confidence and strength today. When the Moon is in Aries and the Sun is in Sagittarius, the emphasis is on boldness, action and creation. In what area of your life do you need to act? Focus on the desired outcome either at work, for a side project or in a relationship, and watch it come to fruition. Moon VoC at 4:44 a.m. until 9:05 a.m. when it enters the sign of Aries.

Wednesday, November 25 The Moon-Mars conjunction underscores the importance of putting your plan in action. Your initiative and passion for following and defending your beliefs are admirable. You confidently build a firm foundation for your dreams, ensuring future success. There’s also the potential for irritation or anger to get the best of you, or you may see it reflected in someone else. Be strong in your beliefs. But, if it’s a silly disagreement, let it go or get some fresh air.

Thursday, November 26 Happy Thanksgiving Day! Moods may fluctuate from feeling satisfied to discontented. Having a concrete strategy can be valuable when making plans for the day. When the Moon squares Pluto, Jupiter and Saturn, you could be tempted to strike out in a few different directions. Don’t get side-tracked, see what transpires when you follow one course and focus

on what you want. Moon VoC at 5:46 p.m. until 9:43 p.m. when it enters the sign of Taurus.

Friday, November 27 There could be an unexpected turn of events when Venus opposes Uranus. A new person may suddenly appear in your life. You feel the need to shake up the status quo by engaging in a stimulating, thrilling experience, something that gets the blood pumping. It could appear in the form of a new love interest and not necessarily the physical kind. It may be a goal or an ideal that beckons you. You’re looking for something that inspires and excites you—something that can give you hope.

Saturday, November 28 What are your plans for the future? Mercury sextile Jupiter asks you to consider what you desire and to see the whole picture. You might want to think about making a one-year and a five-year plan. You’re also interested in how you can contribute to the betterment of the planet. You could be flooded with ideas; record them for future reference. Neptune goes direct at 6:36 p.m.

Sunday, November 29 You could notice restlessness or impatience in yourself or in a relationship when the Sun inconjuncts Uranus. You’re irritated without understanding why and could feel antsy not knowing what to do with yourself. It’s possible you may start a disagreement with a partner or a friend. It’s like an itch that needs to be scratched; the more you try to ignore it, the more noticeable and irritating it is. Instead of reacting in an unexplainable manner, go for a walk. Alone time could be beneficial in seeing something differently. Moon VoC at 6:48 a.m. until 10:16 a.m. when it enters the sign of Gemini.

Monday, November 30 Today, there’s a Full Moon Lunar Eclipse at eight degrees Gemini at 3:30 a.m. This is a super-charged Full Moon. What have you been searching for? It could feel like you’re always on the lookout for danger—or the next shoe to drop—and who could blame you right now. Do some research to learn more about a topic or how to keep yourself and your loved ones safe. Use your knowledge to move ahead, with inner strength and hope for the future. You may not be thrilled with all that life has been throwing at you, but don’t focus on that. Focus on how you’d like life to be. There are good times ahead; remember that, dear reader. Moon VoC at 10:22 p.m.
