Vaccine videos answer questions Valencian Community health officials have launched a series of videos via social media channels to answer frequently asked questions about the Covid-19 vaccine. As most of the general population are due to be vaccinated next month and beyond, many queries surround vaccination in minors, pregnant women, chronically ill patients and those with immune disorders.

The Conselleria de Sanidad Universal y Salud has produced a series of short videos with the aim of trying to solve the most frequent doubts among members of the public about vaccination against Covid-19. With the help of an expert, questions such as how long immunity lasts or whether vaccination protects against new variants of the virus are addressed.

Each video addresses different questions such as how vaccination affects immunosuppressed people, pregnant women, chronically ill patients, minors or people who have already overcome the disease. The videos, in Spanish, are available on YouTube and on the @GVAsanitat twitter account. In addition to briefly Salvador Peiró, Foundation for the of Health and Biomedical explaining the characteristics Promotion Research of the Valencian Community of each of the vaccines authorized for use in Spain - Pfizer, before," says the video. €22m investment in Torrevieja schools Education officials set to invest €22.1 million in the improvement of schools in Torrevieja. Mayor of Torrevieja, Eduardo Dolón, Councilor for Education, Ricardo Recuero, and the general director of Educational Infrastructure, Víctor Garcia, met on Friday to address the much needed improvement and modernization of certain schools in the town. The mayor announced a substantial investment in 2021, and thanked the director of infrastructure for his work on the project so far with several meetings already held to identify the priority projects in terms of education. A number of improvement works will be put out to tender, representing an investment of €13.3 million. The works will be divided between CEIP Amanecer (€6.8 million), works that will go out to tender between March and April of this year; and the demolition and reconstruction of Inmaculada CEIP on the same plot, works worth €6.5 million, which will put to tender in June. The inclusion of Torrevieja into the 'Edificant' Plan was also agreed at Friday’s meeting, with an initial investment by the Department of Education of €8.8 million in four projects that the town hall itself will manage: the reform and expansion of Las Lagunas, Torrevigía and Libertas secondary schools, as well as the Virgen del Carmen primary school.

The videos also assure that there is no incompatibility between the Covid vaccine and any drug for blood pressure, diabetes or any other chronic disease. However, the videos also point out that it is advisable if a patient knows that (s)he is allergic to any of the components of the vaccine - which very few are – to say so at the health centre so that special precautions can be taken. In terms of the duration of immunity, everything indicates that it will be greater than one year, although it has not been ruled out that it may necessary to revaccinate later, for now though, it is too early to know. Vaccinated people will also have to continue taking precautions, not so much for themselves, but to avoid infecting others. So far, only 1.84% of those offered the vaccine in the Valencian Community have refused. Security forces next in line The Ministry of Health will this week begin to vaccinate members of the security forces and emergency services. These groups account for around 24,000

In addition, schools will be adapted to sustainability, energy efficiency and the educational standards of the 21st century. The projects will also contribute to the improvement of the local economy by generating more than six hundred jobs in the construction sector. The big news is the construction of the new Amanecer primary school, the project for which will be finalised in the summer so that construction work can commence in September. The new school will be built on a municipal plot of 8,871 m2 located on Avenida Los Nenúfares. The school will boast 6 ‘infantil’ classrooms and 12 primary rooms as well as a gymnasium and

doses out of the 79,400 that are expected to be administered in the coming days. As well as security forces, vaccination will continue for at risk members of the public as well as professionals most exposed to the virus. Thus, some of the doses will be administered in nursing homes where it was not possible to vaccinate before due to active outbreaks. People with disabilities and those over 80 are also receiving doses. Ximo Puig expressed his gratitude "once again" to the health workers "who are piloting and executing this vaccination process with exemplary work." The vaccination of security forces and emergency personnel, together with those over 80 and other vulnerable groups, is one of the key strategic points of action prior to the mass immunization programme of the general population, which is scheduled to start next month. Authorities expect to vaccinate approximately half of the population of the Valencian Community in three months, at an approximate rate of 400,000 weekly doses.

cafeteria. The school will also have air conditioning and ventilation through air treatment units (AHU) specifically designed to guarantee fresh air is pumped into classrooms. The gym will have air conditioning in the changing rooms, while the Physical Education room will have permanent natural ventilation. The generation of hot water for hand washing will be through a system of solar panels, thus improving the sustainability of the building. Outside, different play areas will be constructed for Infant and Primary children as well as interior courtyards and gardens, a sports court, vegetable garden and shelters.

Primark’s Spanish stores keep company afloat

One of the few international fashion chains which does not have an online shopping facility, Primark has been at the mercy of the ebb and flow of customers in its physical premises – and with varying restrictions and lockdowns across Europe since March 2020, sales have taken a battering. The chain, originally from Ireland but now owned by Associated British Foods (AB Foods), recorded a fall of 40.5 percent in its sales from 2019, taking a hit valued at around €1.28 billion. Although it tends to be associated with the UK high street, over half of Primark stores open for trade worldwide at the moment are located in Spain – 42 out of the 77 stores – since, in other countries, including in Britain, lockdowns mean any business premises not considered 'essential' is unable to operate. At the height of the

'third wave' of Covid cases in Spain, only 10 of Primark's 50 stores nationwide were shut. Even in the run-up to Christmas, much of the UK was on what was then the maximum restriction level, Tier 3; by Boxing Day, the whole of London and the south-east of the country was on Tier 4 and, by around New Year, back in full 'stay-at-home' mode. In Spain, however, non-essential shops were only closed from midMarch to May, after which retailers were practically all open again subject to limitations on numbers of customers on the premises. As a result, Primark's sales fell by 15 percent overall in Spain in the last year, but in other countries with stricter measures, the drop has been drastic – on occasion, and in some parts of the world, by 100 percent. In a normal year, Primark Spain would account for around 20 percent of the brand's sales – in

2019, turnover for Spanish stores came to €1.5bn out of the total of €8.5bn. Spain has the secondhighest number of Primark branches by country in the world, beaten only by the UK. Over the last year, though, from September 2020 to February 2021 inclusive, Primark's turnover was around €2.56bn, of which more than 50 percent came from shops in Spain. Only a handful of Primark stores in Spain are waiting to reopen – fewer, in fact, than anywhere else on earth – and the company is expecting to be back in full business on Spanish soil earlier than in any other country. Britain continues to be Primark's biggest market, meaning that although Spain has 'saved' the brand thus far, the company is pinning its hopes on Prime Minister Boris Johnson's announcement that the nation will start to 'reopen' from 8th March.

Drug lab dismantled in Almoradí National Police Officers have dismantled an Almoradí-based criminal organisation allegedly dedicated to the production and distribution of large quantities of drugs. In the operation, a clandestine cocaine processing laboratory, which was in full swing with a production capacity of 600 kilograms per month, was dismantled. A total of 30 people have been arrested. The investigations began in January 2020, when officers learned of the significant movement of chemical substances to the area, whose final destination would be the secret laboratory. The investigation allowed the criminal organisation to be located and identified. The leader is a local resident in Alicante who has a history of drug trafficking and illegal possession of weapons. After using the chemicals to create the narcotic in the laboratories, another person was then responsible for its distribution to the members in charge of carrying out the sale on a small and medium scale. The first phase of the distribution chain was investigated using surveillance and a monitoring device placed on a vehicle used by the two main members of the gang in charge of distribution. Using this device, it was possible to detect several places of interest, as well as monitoring appointment with a third unknown individual. The various security measures the gang members were taking made the officers suspect that they could be carrying out “passes” of narcotic

substances and so these movements were controlled. When seized, inside the vehicle the police found €18,120and 4.2 grams of cocaine, as well as a secret compartment where the drug was hidden until it was needed for a deal. These two individuals were arrested and warrants requested tow search two houses, where a total of approximately 400 grams of cocaine, €486,620 in cash and two high-end vehicles were seized. Three more people were also arrested. At the same time, it was found that the organisation was stocking up with large quantities of chemical products (precursors), as well as the materials necessary for the laboratory, which was located in Almoradí. The farm location allowed different buildings to be illegally used, whilst giving the false appearance of a mechanical workshop, a horse arena, and a dog and bird farm. In the centre of the farm, an illegal house had been strategically built to be used as a secret laboratory. At all times this was guarded by several gang members, who carried out constant rounds of surveillance, as well as controlling vehicles and people passing through the vicinity. In one of the walls of the farm, used to hang saddles and other horse riding equipment, was a secret remote controlled door. This gave access to a room that gave the false appearance of a dressing room, where the gang leader had once again installed necessary protection measures in order to be able to access the laboratory. In one of the panels of the changing room, and through another secret security door, a

latch was released that allowed gang members to open a door and access the clandestine laboratory, which was in full production process at the time of the police raid. There were around 17 kilograms of cocaine in different stages of processing. More than 3,000 litres of chemical precursors and solid substances were also found for the extraction and alteration of the cocaine base paste and subsequent transformation into cocaine hydrochloride.

At the time of the raid, carried out by the Special Operations Group, four individuals were detained, including two

"cooks" who were making the cocaine. Within the framework of this operation, a total of 15 home searches were carried out in different locations in the Valencian Community and Murcia, which have resulted in the dismantling of the laboratory, the seizure of 52 kilograms of

cocaine hydrochloride, 20 high-end vehicles, three jet skis, a refrigerated truck, two hand guns and three shotguns, as well as other items. Some 650,000 euros in cash were also seized. The investigation revealed that this organisation distributed large amounts of cocaine, hashish and marijuana, among other drugs, having a business network to launder the huge amounts of money they obtained from this sale.

900 cattle left at sea to be put down Almost 900 cows that have been on a ship for two months are set to be killed. The 895 cattle left from Cartagena port in December on the Karim Allah destined for export to Turkey. Turkish port authorities would not allow the animals to be unloaded, reportedly due to concerns over the animals’ health. After the ship has been travelling around the Mediterranean Sea for two months, the 895 animals will now have to be sacrificed after vets have deemed them no longer fit for export or travel. After a second failed attempt to unload the cattle in Libya, the boat returned to Cartagena, where Spanish authorities ordered it to dock on Thursday. The vessel, and the cattle, were subject to an official government inspection when the ship redocked in Cartagena last week. Spain’s minister of agriculture confirmed that animals were to be put down after state veterinarians judged them to be both unfit either for transport to another country of for their return to Spain. The ministry also confirmed that the cattle originally left Spain with all the relevant health authorizations in place. A number of animal rights groups have spoken out against the slaughter of the livestock. “This is yet another wake-up call to urgently end live export,” the Eurogroup for Animals said.

Electricity bills drop in February Electricity bills have plummeted in Spain – just in time for a forecasted drop in temperatures across the country this week. Consumer organisation OCU says households have paid around 21.3 percent less for their energy in February than they did in January – a typical home with an annual consumption of 3.5 kilowatts per hour (kWh) would have seen their monthly costs drop from an average of €69.88 to €55.13. And it's not a blip, or a temporary respite, it seems; according to the OCU, the price reduction is because the actual cost of fuel has 'returned to normal' after a spike at the beginning of the year when the

mercury dropped to some of the lowest levels on record across the Spanish Peninsula. February's energy prices have fluctuated considerably, rising on weekdays and dropping dramatically at weekends, but averaging at around €29 per megawatt per hour (mWh) – about 50 percent less than those of January, and somewhat lower than in February 2020. The reduction, however, only applies to homes on the socalled 'regulated tariff', or 'voluntary small consumers' price' (PVPC), which approximately four in 10 households are signed up to. These are customers whose supply comes direct from

electricity board Iberdrola, whilst the rest are signed up to what is known as the 'free market', with the amount of their bills depending upon the type of contract they have with their provider, which may be Iberdrola or one of the other utility companies in operation. The OCU has denounced 'alarmist messages' throughout January about how electricity had soared in price and was set to remain as such for the foreseeable future, and which some providers on the market had been taking advantage of to convince consumers to contract a fixed rate – which, in some cases, was even higher than January's prices.

Albatera police denounce youngsters for street gathering Friday night saw Local Police in Albatera break up a ‘botellon’ in which 13 youngsters were found gathered on the street, drinking alcohol and not complying with the Covid safety measures. The Local Police of the municipality in collaboration with the Civil Guard unit from Dolores, proceeded to identify and

Organisational problems in Spain delay Covid19 vaccines Organisational problems are hampering Spain’s Covid-19 vaccination drive. While the country at one point was administering nearly all of the vaccines that were delivered, this is no longer the case. As more doses have arrived and the Oxford-AstraZeneca vaccine has been integrated into the program, the difference between the number of jabs received and those administered has grown. Healthcare representatives say this is largely due to organizational problems. While the first phase of the vaccination drive targeted staff and residents in care homes, as well as frontline health workers, who are easy to locate and bring together, the next stage has been extended to essential workers under the age of 55 and people 80 years and over, which is presenting logistical challenges. Although the regions – which are responsible for handling the response to the pandemic and the Covid vaccination drive – have launched this next phase at different speeds, the overall trend is clear. On 2nd February, Spain had administered 94 percent of all Covid doses it had received. This figure fell to 90 percent on 9th February and to 87 percent on 23rd February. Last week, it dropped again to 75 percent. The figures from last week are the most recent as Spain has not yet had time to administer the last shipment of Covid vaccines: 886,880 new doses, the largest delivery to date. It won’t be known until today (Tuesday 2nd March) whether Spain’s vaccination drive is slowing down or picking up after starting the inoculation of the next priority groups. The difference between the number of

doses delivered and those administered is greatest with the AstraZeneca vaccine, which was approved after the jabs from Pfizer and Moderna. The Spanish Health Ministry decided to only use the AstraZeneca vaccine on people between the ages of 18 and 55, due to the lack of clinical evidence of its effectiveness in older demographics. This meant it needed to push forward a new priority group: essential workers, such as teachers, law-enforcement officers and fire-fighters, under the age of 55. On 23rd February (the last day with comparable data), Spain had administered 95.5 percent of the doses from Pfizer, 70.8 percent from Moderna and just 33.7 percent from AstraZeneca. According to María José García, the spokesperson of the nursing union Satse, with “the easiest part” of the vaccination drive now over, more challenges are starting to appear. With adults who need daily assistance but are not in care homes, and essential workers, it is more complicated. In the first case, for logistical reasons: you have to go to their homes, and in the second, for the sheer volume,” she explains. But the situation varies greatly across each of Spain’s 17 regions. Although there is a national strategy, some regional governments have decided to overlap different priority groups more than others, or change the order completely. In Valencia, only 12 percent of the AstraZeneca doses have been administered. The region is vaccinating healthcare professionals who are not considered frontline workers, such as physiotherapists and occupational therapists, but has not yet begun

inoculating teachers, who make up the largest group of essential workers under 55. A spokesperson from the regional health department said the drive was not behind schedule. “Regions are being cautious to guarantee the second dose for all those who have been inoculated and this dictates the speed of the vaccination,” they said. In Spain, 2.4 percent of the population has received the two doses of the Covid vaccine, one of the highest rates in the world. But studies have suggested it may be better to provide more of the population with the first dose as soon as possible.

In countries such as Germany, many people have refused the AstraZeneca vaccine on the basis that it has been found to be less effective in clinical trials. But that does not appear to be a problem in Spain. The state secretary of health said recently that only 2 percent of people offered the Covid vaccine have refused it, and this figure includes individuals who could not take it for medical reasons. In the next few weeks, more doses are set to arrive in Spain, and this will reveal whether the current organisational problems are continuing. Pablo Alda, from the Spanish Society of Family and Community Medicine, says that while healthcare centres are able to administer

the current doses delivered, this will not be the case when the number doubles, which will need to happen in the second and third quarter of the year if the government is to reach the goal of vaccinating 70 percent of the population by the end of summer. For this to be achieved, more than 2.1 million vaccines will need to be administered every week in the next six months. This number, however, is likely to be lower given that the vaccine by Janssen – which only requires one dose – is set to be approved by the European Union between 8th and 12th March. It is not yet known, though, how many doses of this vaccine will be delivered to Spain.

Selling your property in Spain? Most people feel as if all Real Estate Agents are alike. It won’t matter which one you choose because they’ll all say and do the same things. They all show houses! But that’s like saying all hairdressers are alike! The Real Estate professional you choose to represent your home sale and negotiate the purchase of another will absolutely make or break your deal. So how do you choose which agent is your best option? The success of a home sale transaction comes down to sales skill and business acumen. Is the agent you choose, one who will be passive or proactive? Is this individual a true Real Estate professional, or just someone selling houses on the side? The answer will make the difference between failure and success. Don’t make the mistake of choosing someone based on personality, price or

likability. Choose a Real Estate professional who is authentically focused on success. Anyone can throw figures in the air and dazzle you with what you want to hear. When in reality, they know they’ll be hitting you with a cheeky offer down the line. Recognizing trends, seeing pluses or minuses in the property versus the competition, and seeing how to alter the home’s condition or price point will either pinch or profit the seller’s bottom line. Any agent can stick a sign on your property and take pictures. But so much more than mundane activities go into a successful and profitable sale, especially during a pandemic. A proactive agent understands product positioning and will accentuate every positive about the home that will squeeze every Euro of value out of the sale. A proactive agent will be empathetic to your needs but strong enough to stay the course to get the mission accomplished. The best professionals succeed by telling you the truth about what needs to be done to move the sale along successfully instead of only telling you what you want to hear. A strong success record equals a strong agent.

Covid death rates soar in February The epidemiological curve in Spain is still falling, but this third wave is leaving behind significant damage: February is now the month with the highest number of Covid-19 deaths since the first wave of the pandemic last spring. And that is with three more coronavirus reports still to come from the central Health Ministry before the month is out. According to the latest figures, released on Wednesday evening, there have been 9,387 Covid-19 deaths in Spain in February so far, with 389 added to the overall death toll in the last report. The good news is that the 14-day cumulative number of coronavirus cases per 100,000 inhabitants came in at 218, having fallen below the “extreme risk” level of 250 earlier in the week. All of Spain’s regions, apart from Madrid, the Basque Country and the North African exclave cities of Ceuta and Melilla, are now under that 250-case level according to the report. As has been seen in the previous waves of the health crisis, during this third spike it was infections that rose first, due to socialising over the Christmas period, then hospital admissions, followed by increased occupation of intensive care unit (ICU) beds, and finally a rise in the number of deaths. According to the ministry’s figures, 873 people have died after testing positive for Covid-19 in the last seven days, while the total death toll since the

outset of the pandemic now stands at close to 68,500. This does not include, however, the thousands of fatalities that went untested in the first wave. February has now outstripped November in terms of the death toll – that month, in the midst of the second wave, saw 9,191 victims. The worst month, however, continues to be April, during the first wave, when there were around 15,500 fatalities. At that time, it should be pointed out that the statistics and reporting were not as well-honed as they are now. Despite the bad data in terms of victims, the situation is improving throughout Spain. Despite the falling curve, Health Minister Carolina Darias has called for caution. “In the last four weeks, there has been a very fast fall in the incidence over the last four weeks,” she said at a press conference. “This rapid

fall has been uneven and there is also a reduction in the speed of descent. The average daily fall is 7 percent but this varies from region to region.” The Health Minister predicted that the fall in the curve will continue in Spain, but it will be uneven from region to region. She repeated her call for prudence when it comes to the deescalation of the current restrictions in place. “We know the consequences of previous de-escalations that were carried out in an abrupt manner,” she warned. The situation in the country’s hospitals continues to be serious across Spain, and a new spike in cases would be dangerous for the health system. According to the latest report, 30% of ICU beds are occupied by Covid patients (3,241), and in some regions, these high numbers are persisting over time.

Covid vaccinations for expats Procedures for registering for State healthcare and for the Covid-19 vaccine differ from region to region, although nationally, the vaccine and public medical attention are universally available to all residents. 'Illegal immigrants', or undocumented migrants, are also included, but the process to follow is likely to be different from that of people with either a photographic residence card or TIE, or a 'green certificate' in A4 or credit-card size. In the Comunidad Valenciana, comprising the provinces of Alicante, Valencia and Castellón expats will need to be on the padron and be registered for State Healthcare. Those who are not already on the Social Security system through their working or contributory benefits or via their State pension will need to make sure they are registered. Those who have never 'paid into the system' and are not yet able to claim their State retirement pension from their home countries are able to use the public health network if they are legally resident, although a high number opt for private medical insurance cover, especially in areas where they are likely to find private clinics with international

management who may speak their native language. The Comunidad Valenciana says people with private insurance are able to request being registered for a vaccine by contacting their local health centre and presenting their padrón, residence document, private health insurance card and Spanish telephone number. If you do not have a SIP card, but do have private medical insurance, you can register on the website:

https://coronavirusregistro.san.gv a.es/sipcovid19/registrosinsip?lan guage=es. Once you have completed and submitted the form online, you will receive a text with a SIP number, stating that you are now registered. Residents in any region who are not sure how to register with a local GP and get a SIP card allowing them to access public healthcare, or how to ensure they are included on the list for the vaccine, should contact their nearest surgery for advice.

Spain’s former King attempts to sort tax affair Spain’s emeritus King Juan Carlos I has made a second payment to the country’s Tax Agency in a bid to regularise his fiscal situation after he received undeclared income over a number of years. The former monarch, who abdicated from the throne in 2014 and has been mired by accusations of wrongdoing regarding his finances in recent years, has handed over more than €4 million to the tax authorities to cover up to €8 million he received in payments in kind, sources with knowledge of the situation have said. Amid the investigations into his financial affairs last year, Juan Carlos I – who is the father of the current king, Felipe VI – opted to leave Spain and has been living in the United Arab Emirates since the summer. In December 2020, he made a first payment to the Tax

Agency of €678,393 to pay off a debt that corresponded to the tax years of 2016 to 2018 – after he abdicated the throne, he lost the full immunity from prosecution that he had enjoyed up until that point. When he made this payment, he was admitting that he had committed fraud, but by regularising the outstanding amount before being informed of the opening of an official probe he avoided facing the courts for the offenses. This voluntary declaration of €8 million relates to flights from a private jet company that he used and that were paid for until 2018 by a foundation called Zagatka, owned by his distant cousin Álvaro de Orleans. The use of these flights is considered to be a payment in kind and is subject to income tax (known as IRPF) in Spain.

Four arrests in Torrevieja for ‘rip deal’ scam Guardia Civil in Torrevieja have arrested four people aged between 30 and 47 years old and all members of the same family, for defrauding €50,000 euros through a scam known as a 'rip deal'. During a series of searches as part of the operation, officers seized more than one and a half million euro in false €500 notes, €2,600 in genuine notes, a number of high-end watches and jewellery, two money counting machines, two printing machines, a large amount of mobile phones and mobile phone cards as well as handwritten notes with contact details of potential victims. Those arrested had pretended to be intermediaries of an international investment fund based in Curaçao. The gang purported to buy out a business in Altea but, at the time of payment, exchanged legal tender bills for counterfeit ones, according to a statement by Guardia Civil. Investigators said that this gang is a "very active" criminal group, the leader of the family known in various parts of Spain, such as Madrid, Catalonia and the Basque Country. The gang even collaborated with other crime families to carry out scams. The gang were particularly active in Alicante and Murcia, and at the time of arrest they appeared to have several scams planned using the same method, one of which was imminently targeting a Murcian businessman. The investigation began when a businessman from Altea told the Guardia Civil that he had been the victim of a €50,000 scam, money that was due to be

exchanged between him and the alleged buyers of a company he owned. After the first contact between the criminal gang and the business owner, a person posing as a manager of an investment fund (who in reality was the leader of the crime family), would hold several meetings in offices rented by the scammers to give the outward appearance of a genuine business. In addition, the gang members wore designer clothing and even high-end watches at meetings to reinforce the image of wealthy investors. After several meetings and before closing the main deal, the scammers revealed that ‘as a favour’ they would negotiate a further €50,000 in cash, to be handed over in €500 bills on the condition that these be exchanged by the victim for bills of a smaller denomination. In this instance, the victim started to count the money to check on the spot that it was the correct amount. However, faced with the overwhelming sum of money, the alleged buyers offered him the use of their counting machine to speed up the count, a request to which he agreed. It was here when the scammers cleverly exchanged real money for fake bills.

The truth behind ‘expat’ life In a new anthology of personal and powerful stories, ten women share the emotional and practical realities of life away from ‘home’. These brutally honest essays cover the real experiences of women dealing with challenges away from the support structure of their place of birth. #LivingTheDream aims to bust the myth of the perception of a ‘blessed’ life under sunny skies and show the sometimes tougher reality. Grief, loneliness, Brexit, motherhood, identity, single parenthood, rootlessness, drinking culture and integration are just some of the issues tackled in this collection of short stories.Editor Carrie Frais wanted to give a voice to women living in Spain, France, Hong Kong, Australia, Israel, Belgium, New Zealand and the UK and reveal some of the emotional upheavals and struggles that go hand-in-hand with moving away from their native ‘home’, but until now have remained largely untold. This project came from Carrie Frais’s increasing feelings of isolation during lockdown in Spain and her feelings of rootlessness and a lack of belonging, exacerbated by her own grief and the reality of Brexit. She felt the need to connect, reach out and encourage positive interactions and expose uncomfortable truths about the often

misrepresented‘expat’ existence. She explains, “The women who have contributed to this collection of stories all share the (often) rollercoaster experience of moving away from the country of their birth. We are sometimes viewed as courageous, uprooting ourselves from the security blanket of having one’s extended family nearby to face new adventures and experiences in far-flung corners of the world. Yet, our lives can be emotional, confusing and challenging. When we experience anxiety, stress, insomnia, loneliness, fear or even depression caused by, amongst other things, culture shock, rootlessness, social exclusion, grief or bureaucracy, we struggle with people’s perceptions versus our own reality” Carrie wants people to re-consider the way the term ‘expat’ is used, believing that it has “now run its course, as it retains connotations of privileged, financially mobile western white men and women working abroad, or retirees relaxing on sun-soaked beaches. Nowadays, people are choosing to emigrate for a myriad of different reasons and some of us feel that being labelled an expat can set us apart from our adopted cultures when, in fact, we are trying to do exactly the opposite”. Four stories from Spain Four of the authors recount stories about the challenges of living Spain, each

with their own unique perspective and focus. Business owner Deborah Gray tells the story of setting up a PR agency in a new country and offers advice on how to manage business affairs. Bremain in Spain Chair Sue Wilson, discusses her Brexit legacy and how the referendum turned an aversion to politics into an obsession and why she now campaigns for the rights of British citizens living across Europe. Journalist andCompany Director Carrie Frais discusses grief and shares the emotional and practical challenges when confronted with the illness and subsequent loss of her parents in the UK whilst living in Barcelona. Finally, entrepreneur Jane Mitchell takes a very honest look at the end of her marriage and how she rediscovered her identity ,realising that divorce does not have to be the end but in fact is the beginning of a new chapter of her life in Catalonia. The power of honest story telling Especially in the COVID-19 era, expat lives are being put under increased pressure, and many people are feeling isolated and disconnected. Carrie Frais hopes that the honest stories told in this book will encourage people to not feel alone and be more open about their struggles. She hopes it will inspire people to share their own stories with their friends and family to enable them to obtain the support they need. #LivingTheDream Expat Life Stripped Bare is now available on Amazon. Orihuela Costa Sports Centre Project to end the historical opens spinning studio floods in Orihuela Costa

Recent visit

The Mayor of Orihuela, Emilio Bascuñana and the Councillor for Sports, Víctor Bernabéu, visited the Orihuela Costa Municipal Sports Centre to see the works that are being carried out in different areas and that will be finished in the coming days. Councillor Bernabéu explained that “the project facilitates the expansion of the sports hall building for the fitting out of a new area for the practice of spinning that was being highly demanded, and a few weeks ago the floor was also changed in the three paddle tennis courts. We continue to fulfil our commitment to offer the best sports facilities to all residents and users in Orihuela Costa.” The total amount of these

works amounts to 55,133 euros, of which 41,763 euros have been allocated to the new area of the multipurpose room and 13,370 euros for the paddle tennis courts. The extension of this spinning sports area is located on the first flat roof with an area of 61 m2. The Mayor of Orihuela, Emilio Bascuñana highlighted “the importance of the execution of these works that represent an important improvement so that the residents of the coast and users of these facilities can make use of them as soon as possible. We have made a great effort to resume the activity of this centre and continue to work to offer the best possible service.” The Municipal Sports Centre of the Coast reopened its doors at

the end of last year after the award of management to the company Vectoris SL was resolved with a contract for the duration of two years, extendable for another. The company carries out sports programs, activities and schools, rescue and first aid in the municipal swimming pool, and auxiliary services for maintenance, cleaning and access control in sports facilities and spaces in Orihuela Costa. The Municipal Sports Centre has an area of 24,000 m² that includes three paddle tennis courts, two tennis courts, two sports courts, a 25-meter swimming pool, an artificial turf soccer field, a multipurpose hall and a running circuit of 550 meters in length.

The Department of Infrastructures of the Orihuela City Council, led by Councillor Ángel Noguera, together with water company Hidraqua, have finalised the project that will bring to an end the floods that have historically troubled Orihuela Costa whenever there is heavy rain. Councillor Noguera explained: “With this project we will provide a solution to the problems of historical floods in Orihuela Costa that occur with episodes of rain. The project is divided into four phases. The first phase, which will have a budget of € 1.5 million, is currently in the final stages of the tender process in order to start the work before the summer season.” The work consists of capturing the water on Avenida de Las Palmeras and Calle del Carmen through two scuppers that cover the entire width of the tarmac layer on the street with a length of 9 and 6 meters. There will also be the installation of large pipes. These will be laid a large channel formed by 741 meters of a concrete frame of 2x2 meters at the beginning of Avenida de las Palmeras that is extended to two frames of 2x2 meters when it joins Carrer del Carmen. The rain water will be captured and travel through the pipes to the dumping point on the beach of La Zenia.

Flood misery to end

The discharge works involve the execution of a 9.5x25 meter deposit under the promenade at the edge of the beach. This tank will be filled with water during the rains and when it reaches its maximum capacity, the water will overflow in a controlled way onto the sand of the beach until the rain storm ends. To reduce the deterioration of the beach, a stone breakwater will be placed, which will be covered with sand. Finally the sand will be deposited on the breakwater and the beach will regain its usual appearance. Ángel Noguera explained that "this action will be used for the redevelopment of the affected areas, especially on the

promenade, where it will be renovated from Avenida de la Playa to Calle Colón". Once this first phase is completed, three more phases are planned for the installation of collectors in Calle San Antonio and Doctor Marañón, the execution of a lagoon in a green area next to Calle del Rocío of 22,500 m2 and another in the valley between Alhambra and Unamuno streets of 1,000 m2. These areas will be designed as floodable green areas for the collection of rain flow. When not full of flood water, these areas will be green spaces with relaxation, leisure and recreation areas for the enjoyment of neighbours and visitors.

Truck stolen from builder’s yard for ATM heist

A 3.5-ton truck from a builders’ merchant in Elche was stolen from the yard on Wednesday night. Police believe it was later used in an ATM heist in San Fulgencio. The truck was parked up on Wednesday night, when it had been was loaded with bricks, cement and other building materials destined for a client delivery on Thursday morning. According to sources, the thieves were not afraid to make noise during the night curfew as they broke down the gate to make off with the vehicle. The manager of Materiales Cano discovered the robbery early on Thursday morning when he went to open up for the day. The materials on the back of the truck were worth around €800

but the truck itself is worth around €100,000 so it was assumed the thieves wanted the vehicle. Officers from Elche police station inspected the scene and the company itself asked locals to keep an eye out for the truck, sharing the registration number and description in the hope it would be spotted. By mid morning on Thursday, surprising news filtered through when a worker in El Hondo Natural Park found his way blocked by an abandoned vehicle. The man couldn’t pass along a small byroad in the park because a truck had been left in the middle of the road with the windows open and no driver or owner in the vicinity. The worker phoned the police who joined the dots

and realised this was their missing truck. Another piece of the puzzle materialised when reports emerged of a robbery at a commercial centre in San Fulgencio, just a few kilometres away, where an ATM machine had been uprooted. All indications from the incident pointed to the use of a heavy duty truck with a crane, just like the one stolen the previous night in Elche. The truck remained in situ throughout the afternoon in El Hondo, as Police and Guardia Civil attempted to collect more evidence. In recent months there have been half a dozen similar robberies, with ATMs torn away by trucks previously stolen in the province. The most recent was in Orihuela Costa last October.

Still Using Your UK Adviser? If you take financial advice from the UK but live in Spain, what do you need to think about after Brexit? 1. The end of passporting If you have a good relationship with your UK-based financial adviser, you may understandably wish to continue using them, despite now living in a different country. 2. The limits of UK advice If you still retain UK investments, a UK-based adviser may be able to continue supporting you there. But if you hold savings and investments with an EU-based institution, from 2021 they may not be able to accept instructions, such as top-ups, from a UK adviser.

3. The advantages of local knowledge As well as the legal and practical implications, you should also review whether an adviser based in a different country is best placed to help you take advantage of opportunities available to you here in Spain. For example: • Will they fully understand the intricacies of the tax regime and how it interacts with UK taxation? • Will they have in-depth knowledge of the local residence, domicile, tax, succession law and reporting rules? • Do they know about – and have access to – taxefficient solutions that offer significant benefits to EU residents?

4. The suitability of UK planning Remember: financial planning that is tailored for a UK resident is unlikely to remain suitable once you become resident elsewhere. At Seagate we pride ourselves on putting our clients first. If you are still using your UK adviser, but would like to know what we can offer, then give us a call. As a firm of advisers that all previously worked for Lloyds Bank in the UK we believe that a good relationship with our client is at the heart of our business. For a no cost or commitment meeting please call us today. For a free no-obligation chat with a UK qualified adviser, call 965 704 338 or email: contact@seagatewealth.es

GBP / EUR UPDATE GBP The biggest headline for the pound this week was Boris Johnson’s address to Parliament and to the public in a televised briefing revealing the roadmap out of lockdown for England. The fourstep plan aims to see the economy fully reopened by June 21st. This will involve various milestones along the way, including the return of outdoor hospitality on April 12th and indoor hospitality on May 17th.Although this development was in some way already priced in, it did enough to help the pound reach a new 34 month high against the dollar of 1.4084. Sterling never made it as far as the early 2018 high, but touching well above $1.42 on Wednesday, it got within a cent and a half of it. In a game of three halves the pound plodded higher on Monday and Tuesday, spiked upwards on Wednesday and gave it all back on Thursday. Overall, sterling lost an average of 0.2% and fell by exactly that much, a quarter of a cent, against the US dollar. The big moves on Wednesday and Thursday were technically-driven. Wednesday’s upward spike came as a result of short-covering purchasers in a thin early Far East market. Thursday’s plunge came after the pound broke short-term uptrend support against the US dollar. The only significant UK economic data were Tuesday’s employment figures. There was plenty not to like, with fewer people in work and a fiveyear high for unemployment. Even the 4.7% annual increase in total earnings was arguably a negative, signifying a further fall in the number of lower-paid jobs. However, just about every

component of the data was in line with or better than forecast. So investors ignored the numbers, focusing instead on the successful vaccination programme and the Chancellor’s imminent stimulus budget. In the build up to that, calls for VAT deferrals and further business rates relief are continuing to grow. EURO Although the slow pace of the EU’s vaccination programme in comparison to the UK is still cause for concern, Euroland spent most of its time behind a cloak of invisibility, remaining mostly off the radar for the second week in a row. Its low profile might not have been an active help, but it provided investors with no excuses to take against it. As a result, the common currency strengthened by an average of 0.4%, adding three fifths of a US cent and taking three quarters of a cent off sterling. Low-profile was also certainly the way to describe the week’s Euroland ecostats. Inflation was in line with the provisional reading at 0.9%. The European Commission’s business and consumer survey results showed “economic sentiment and employment expectations picking up”. However, at -14.8, consumer confidence was still around ten points below its level during the five years prior to the pandemic. The provisional purchasing managers’ indices gave mixed results. Manufacturing at 57.7 was a three-year high, while services at 44.7 was a three-month low. Germany’s manufacturing PMI came in at a three-year high of 60.6. Business and consumer confidence in Germany both showed improvement.

Spanish govt announces 11bn support for hostelry and tourism sectors Spanish Prime Minister Pedro Sánchez has announced an €11billion support package aimed at helping “companies, small and medium-sized enterprises and self-employed workers” in the tourism and hostelry sectors recover from the fallout of the coronavirus crisis. “We do not just want to save businesses, but to strengthen them as well,” Sánchez told Spain’s lower house of parliament, the Congress of Deputies. The Prime Minister said the package is aimed at improving the solvency of struggling companies “so that they can resume activity, make necessary investments and hire the staff required to fully begin the economic recovery.” Spain’s tourism and hostelry sectors have been the hardest hit by the pandemic, with restrictions on travel and social gatherings leading to historic losses in revenue. Sánchez said the goal was to help these sectors that “were competitive before the pandemic” but are now “in a difficult situation.” The announcement comes just a few weeks after an

internal report from the Economy Ministry indicated that direct aid was needed to save companies, in particular small businesses, which have struggled to remain afloat due to the restrictions aimed at curbing the spread of the coronavirus. This has been a key demand of business leaders, unions and others who were dissatisfied with a recent relief package that focused on tax breaks, state-guaranteed loans and other forms of indirect support. Indeed, last week, a group of industry associations from the hostelry and business sectors, including the Spanish Business Confederation (CEC), called on Spanish authorities to provide €12.5 billion in direct aid. Pablo Casado, the leader of the conservative Popular Party (PP), went further, demanding €50 billion in direct aid from the government at Wednesday’s congressional session. But despite these calls, it is not clear whether the new package will be in the form of direct aid or other economic support. The likelihood, however, is that the plan will be

more geared toward strengthening the solvency of firms than providing direct aid, with the latter approach being left to regional governments. Excessive corporate debt When the coronavirus pandemic hit Spain last year, the government responded with the ERTE job retention scheme that allowed companies suffering losses from the health crisis to temporarily send home workers or reduce their working hours, and offered soft loans guaranteed by Spain’s Official Credit Institute (ICO). These measures were designed on the basis that the impact of the crisis would be short term, but as the pandemic has dragged on, they are no longer enough to help struggling businesses. One year on, many companies that were once viable have since accumulated excessive debt – just as the Bank of Spain warned would happen. In these cases, even if a business does not go bankrupt, it may spend years trying to pay back this debt, making no investment and cutting jobs.

Women comply more with covid restrictions but suffer more psychologically A regional survey on the effects of the pandemic, led by renowned Alicante scientist Nuria Oliver, reveals that half of the young women surveyed have suffered anxiety and stress over the last year. The survey carried out by the ‘Data Science for Covid-19’ working group of the Generalitat Valenciana, headed by the Oliver, reveals that women are the ones who suffer the greatest psychological impact from the pandemic and are also those who most comply with the restrictions decreed by government. The survey process began almost a year ago and has already accumulated more than half a million responses. Those most impacted are younger women with more than half of women aged between 18 and 29 claiming to have suffered anxiety and stress (52%) during the pandemic. Up to 39% of women aged between 30 and 59 reported feelings of stress or anxiety whereas older women (aged 60 and over) appear to be the most "resistant" to the psychological consequences of Covid, since the survey found that in this age group, 22% admit to having suffered anxiety and

13% stress during the last year. Another side effect of pandemic is sadness, which in recent months has affected one in three young people, 28% of middleaged women and 22% of older women. Malena Fabregat, professor of Sociology at the University of Alicante explains, “All the data confirms that the differences between genders are more apparent when it comes to quality of life and health. It has a lot to do with the concept of care, which is usually left to the female population.” This burden, says Professor Fabregat, is added to during the pandemic, with the increase in home confinement. The coexistence of professional and care giving roles has added an extra overload on women because it is now even more difficult to separate personal from work space. Professor Fabregat pointed out that the gender difference very evident in compliance with restrictions: “Our psychological profile makes more adherent to the rules. Not surprisingly, there is a lot of research on it. These data also shows that we must continue working to eliminate the gender gap in Spain.”

The data from the working group shows that in the Valencian Community, women are those who most comply with the restrictions. Women are more likely to disinfect their hands (90% versus 85% of men), more likely to wear masks (93% vs 90%), more likely to avoid crowds (89% vs 86%), more likely to comply with physical distancing (78% vs 75%), more likely to limit social contact (84 vs 78%), more likely to avoid kisses and hugs (83% vs 81%) and more likely to ensure good ventilation of interior spaces (58% vs 47%). Across the entire survey, only in two aspects do men outperform women in terms of safety measures: being willing to be vaccinated (76% versus 73%) and installing the covid tracking APP (38-32%). Support for the vaccine continues to rise, in general, among the population of the Valencian Community, where eight out of ten people are already in favour of being immunized against covid-19. Among the few citizens who are still reluctant to accept the vaccine, the main reason remains a fear of side effects.

Brits rush to book Spanish hols Britons are rushing to book their summer getaways ahead of the return of international travel from 17th May. Some of Britain's biggest airlines and travel firms revealed a surge in holiday bookings to destinations including Spain, Greece and Turkey in the hours after Prime Minister Boris Johnson unveiled the roadmap out of lockdown last week. Britons were quick to act on the news, with easyJet revealing a 337 per cent surge in flight bookings and a 630 per cent jump in holiday bookings for destinations such as Alicante, Malaga, Palma, Faro and Crete the day after the announcement. Of the rising bookings, most are for August, followed by July and then September. Jet2 saw a 600 percent increase in summer holiday bookings after the announcement, with bookings surging for destinations across the board including mainland Spain and its islands, Portugal, Greece, Cyprus and Turkey. Tui reported its best day for bookings in over a month, with Britons particularly interested in holidays in Greece, Spain and Turkey for the summer and Thomas Cook said it saw a 100 per cent surge on website traffic after the announcement. Thomas Cook's Chief Executive Alan French, dubbed the PM's roadmap 'good news' with the travel company seeing booking 'flooding in' already for countries like Greece, Cyprus, Mexico and the Dominican Republic.

Mr French said: “The government's announcement today is good news for those of us desperate to get away on holiday. While we await more details, it's clear that the government's ambition is to open up international travel in the

coming months and hopefully in time for the summer holidays.” Shai Weiss, CEO Virgin Atlantic said: “Following the Prime Minister's update on the UK roadmap out of lockdown, we look forward to working with the Department for Transport and the Global Travel Taskforce on a framework to reopen the skies safely. Building on our flexible booking policies, we will provide customers with the confidence to book ahead and plan for the summer, whether reuniting with family or reconnecting with businesses and colleagues.” Steve Heapy, CEO of Jet2.com and Jet2holidays said: “We have seen

enormous pent-up demand from British holidaymakers for some time, with people wanting nothing more than to get away to the sunshine and enjoy their well-deserved holidays. The government's announcement is the

news they have been longing for, and the surge in bookings shows how ready our customers are to get away to the sunshine on a real package holiday. “We are very pleased that the government has shown a clear ambition to reopen international travel in the coming months, and we look forward to more detail in due course. Throughout the pandemic, we have done absolutely everything to look after our valued customers and we have always said that the sun will shine for them once again. We know what an incredibly difficult time it has been for everyone, and we very much look forward to taking

everyone from our rainy islands to their dream holiday choice this summer and beyond.” EasyJet's chief executive Johan Lundgren said: “We have consistently seen that there is pent up demand for travel and this surge in bookings shows that this signal from the Government that it plans to reopen travel has been what UK consumers have been waiting for.” The airline has put flights for spring 2022 on sale early offering over 110,000 flights to hundreds of destinations across Europe following surge in demand for flight and holiday bookings.

Jennifer Aniston's 'annoying Marriage make over for vocal tic' on Friends Gemma and Gorka Friends fans have been left in shock after a TikTok user exposed Jennifer Aniston's "vocal tic" on the show. Account cts.trphe took to his social media page to reply to another who asked: "What is a trope in media that once you saw it, you couldn't unsee it?" He then launched into a rant about how the 52 year old actress, who previously sparked speculation she's back with exhusband Brad Pitt, tends to clear her throat before starting a sentence, especially in circumstances where her character isn't sure what to say or is about to say something particularly funny. "Okay so technically this isn't a trope, but what I'm about to say is going to ruin your life especially if you are a big fan of the show Friends," he started. He continued: "If you are a big fan of that show, I'm begging you, scroll away because I'm going to ruin your life. Jennifer Aniston has this sort of vocal tic that she does at the beginning of every single sentence that she starts on every show that she's in. "It's very specific and it's very hard to unsee, once you notice it." A montage of different scenes from Friends then played out, with Jennifer clearing her throat in different situations before launching into a speech or a witty

remark. When it ended, the TikTok user panned the camera onto himself and mimicked the action as he said "ahem" before giving the camera a shocked face expression. While some were clearly taken aback by the revelation, die-hard fans couldn't help but try to defend Jennifer's "vocal tic" as one person wrote: "she did smoke alot on set and back then thats prob why". [sic] Another thought it was simply part of her character's person as they said: "i thought it was just like acting? to indicate that the character is like uncomfy she only seems to do it in situations that are a little awkward". [sic]

While a third claimed the actress, who recently looked youthful after a blonde hair transformation, stuttered when she was younger and used the throat clearing trick as a method to keep it under control. They said: "Its bcz she used to stutter really bad and her speech teachers taught her this Technique that actually works very well". [sic] While there is no information about Jennifer having a stutter, according to Healthline, a smoker's cough can become chronic if the person in question smokes every day. It can cause "wheezing and crackling noises associated with phlegm in your throat."

It sounds like Gemma Atkinson and Gorka Marquez are going to look even more fabulous before they tie the knot! Gemma took to her Instagram Stories recently, where she confirmed that she is going to be getting braces – and that her fiancé will as well. Speaking directly to the camera while wearing a plaid sleeveless shirt, with her hair in a loose topknot, the former Emmerdale actress updated her fans in on the couple's plans. "Hiya, just keeping you posted on my teeth, you've asked about my teeth loads of you because I said I was getting braces on Monday," Gemma said. The star went on: "I am still getting them, there was a delay on my order, thanks Brexit."

Her beau could be heard in the background, and Gemma then added: "And Gorka, Gorka's getting one as well… So, yeah, there's a delay but we've decided to go for the Invisalign ones and hopefully they'll be fitted next week or the week after." There's no news about the couple's wedding day yet, but they announced their engagement on Valentine's Day, with an Instagram post that showed the blonde beauty kissing her new fiancé on the cheek as she showed off her stunning diamond ring. Gemma captioned the sweet picture: "Valentine’s forever... Of course I said yes [heart emoji]." The couple's celebrity friends

were clearly thrilled for them, and rushed to share their congratulations. Former Coronation Street actress and Strictly contestant Catherine Tyldesley commented: "Oh my heart!!! So thrilled for you guys! Two of the nicest people in the land." Gorka's co-star Oti Mabuse was also among the first to wish the pair well, commenting: "Yesssssssssss CONGRATULATIONS… MY HEART! So happy for you." The loved-up pair met on the set of the BBC dance show back in 2017, although they didn't dance together until 2019's Christmas special. They welcomed their daughter Mia in July of that year.

I'm excited for families and children everywhere to join us on our adventures as we discover, cook, and eat delicious food from all over the world."

Linda Robson Pauline Quirke quit Birds of a Feather after an "extraordinary row outside a toilet" with co-stars Linda Robson and Lesley Joseph. The 61 year old is no longer speaking to Lesley, 75, and Loose Women panellist Linda, 62, and wasn't included in the Christmas special of the long-running sitcom. After it was reported earlier this week that Pauline had left the show after 31 years, more has now been revealed about the cast's fallings out. A source close the Linda claims that the atmosphere between the veteran actresses has become "increasingly hostile" as the years have gone on since the show launched in 1989. The insider said: "The nadir came during one astonishing row at Teddington Studios, culminating in Pauline and Lesley squaring off, noses centimetres apart, outside the women's loos. "They were basically pulled apart by stunned crew members. Things went rapidly downhill from there. "It's a sad ending to what was one of the most endearing and popular friendships in television. "Linda doesn’t believe they'll ever speak again," the source continued to tell The Sun. The trio's friendship reportedly

hit breaking point in 2019 when Pauline refused to return to film a 30th anniversary special episode of the show, which moved to ITV in 2014. An insider had previously told Mail on Sunday about the fallout: "Both Linda and Lesley were saddened that Pauline didn't want to return to make a 30th anniversary episode. "Linda and Pauline used to be very close, less so Pauline and Lesley. "I think Pauline resented the attention that Lesley got and it was very tense and difficult to navigate at times.

"Pauline wasn't approached about the Christmas special. The atmosphere on the set had previously become difficult, there were real and tense issues." The first episode of the hit show saw sisters Tracey and Sharon, played by Linda and Pauline respectively, come together after their husbands are sent to prison for armed robbery. Sharon moved from her Edmonton council flat into Tracey's upmarket home in Chigwell, Essex, with the pair befriending Tracey's next door neighbour Dorien, played by Lesley.

Spanish company leads Certain occupations linked with heavy drinking vegan advertising Spanish plant meat pioneer, Heura, continues to advertise in an interesting and educational way, rather than just trying to convince the public of how tasty their products are, as is often the case with traditional advertising. Heura is disseminating information about the benefits to the environment if consumers replace traditional meat with plant-based meat. The ads, which can be seen across Spain and on social media, include messages showing facts, figures and facts about the benefits of switching to a plantbased diet. Last year, the company put up a huge billboard in the centre of Madrid with the message: “A meat burger pollutes more than your car.” Although, unsurprisingly, the controversy forced the company to withdraw the advert in December, Heura seems unafraid of the livestock lobby. According to Greenpeace data, 71 percent of agricultural land in the European Union is used to

feed livestock. This industry contributes up to 18 percent of global greenhouse gases, according to data from Oxford University. According to the World Resources Institute, the transport sector globally contributes 14 percent of greenhouse gases. Although some experts claim that it is difficult to compare emissions from the transport sector with those from the livestock sector – given the number of variables in the life cycle of both sectors – the claim that a beef burger pollutes more than a car is absolutely reasonable. However, while the EU has expressed its commitment to the goals of the Paris Agreement to

reduce emissions harmful to life on the planet, Greenpeace has also shown that 18-20 percent of the economic bloc’s annual budget goes to support the continent’s livestock industry, a clear example of political interests in the sector. “I see Heura not as a plantbased meat company, but as a vehicle for social change,” Marc Coloma, CEO and co-founder of Heura, said in December. “We are going to change the way we think about food. In the past, the most important factor in food manufacturing was productivity, but now, instead of a consumerist approach, we will put consumer values at the centre,” he added.

Working in certain occupations may be associated with a higher likelihood of heavy drinking in people aged 40 to 69 years old, researchers say. Skilled trade occupations, such as construction and manufacturing jobs, are most likely to be associated with heavy drinking – while jobs such as teaching and clergy are associated with a lower likelihood, a new study suggests. Publicans and managers of licensed premises are almost three times more likely to be heavy drinkers, while cleaners and plasterers were twice as likely. Clergy, physicists, geologists and meteorologists; and medical practitioners were least likely to be heavy drinkers. The researchers from the University of Liverpool

compared the chances of being a heavy drinker with various different occupations. Andrew Thompson, the author from the University of Liverpool, said: “Our research provides insight for policy makers and employers regarding which sectors may have the highest rates of heavy alcohol consumption.” The authors analysed data on 100,817 adults with participants reporting their weekly or monthly alcohol intake and occupation, and 17,907 were categorised as heavy drinkers. Women were classed as a heavy drinker if they consumed more than 35 units – the equivalent of around three and a half bottles of wine or more than 17 pints of low strength beer. Men were classed as heavy

drinkers if they consumed more than 50 units – the equivalent of five bottles of wine or 25 pints of low strength beer. Associations between occupation and heavy drinking differed in men and women, the study published in BMC Public Health found. For men, the jobs that were most likely to be associated with heavy drinking were skilled trade occupations, while jobs classified as managers and senior officials were most likely to be associated with heavy drinking for women. The occupations associated with the lowest rates of heavy drinking for men were clergy, medical practitioners and town planners, compared with school secretaries, biological scientists, biochemists and physiotherapists for women.

Make it salmon on fish Friday Integrating more seafood into your diet is definitely worth the effort every now and then: The Heart Association recommends eating fish at least twice a week for a reason. Salmon, in particular, is a good dish if you're trying to be conscious of your heart health. Below, you'll find 11 health benefits of salmon, according to registered dieticians. It's rich in omega 3 fatty acids Salmon is a wonderful source of omega 3 fatty acids. According to the Office of Dietary Supplements (ODS), a division of the National Institutes of Health, research has proven that omega 3s offer a variety of health benefits, including relieving symptoms of dry eye disease, helping manage symptoms of rheumatoid arthritis, and improving cognitive function. Salmon is a great source of protein Hundred grams of salmon provides nearly 20 grams of protein. (FYI: Females 14 and older need 46 grams of protein a day.) Protein is essential in helping your body thrive, and not getting enough can lead to muscle loss. It can help your body regulate your sleep Salmon also includes an amino acid called tryptophan. Tryptophan is an essential amino acid. This means you have to get it from your diet as your body won't produce it. Tryptophan helps the body make melatonin and serotonin -meaning it plays a part in

some pretty important bodily functions, such as mood regulation and the sleep-wake cycle. It has vitamin A, which supports eye health If you're low on vitamin A, you should definitely consider adding salmon to your routine. Salmon is rich in vitamin A, which is an immune-boosting nutrient. Vitamin A is important not only for immune function but also reproduction and vision. The vitamin D in salmon supports your immune system Salmon is a good source of vitamin D. Vitamin D can be obtained via sunlight and foods, which points out that it helps your body absorb calcium. Vitamin D is also an immune-boosting nutrient. It has vitamin B12, which keeps you from getting tired Another nutrient salmon contains is vitamin B12. Getting enough B12 is important because a deficiency can cause weakness, tiredness, constipation, and loss of appetite. Salmon is a good source of B3 (niacin) Vitamin B3 (also known as niacin) can be found in salmon as well and its job is to transform the food you eat into the energy your body needs. Also worth noting: Vitamin B3 plays a role in keeping your cells functioning.

It can help regulate your thyroid hormones Selenium is yet another immuneboosting nutrient found in salmon. Foods with selenium provide a number of health benefits, as the nutrient plays a role in thyroid hormone metabolism, reproduction, DNA synthesis and more. Salmon has zinc, which you should eat every day You should be consuming zinc, found in salmon, daily. This essential mineral is required to maintain a steady state because the body has no specialized

zinc storage system and supports immune function. Salmon is rich in glutamine Glutamine, too, is found in salmon. This amino acid (a building block of protein) assists in energy production.

It contains an antioxidant Lastly, an antioxidant called astaxanthin can also be found in wild-caught salmon. Antioxidants also support cell functioning, and they can protect your body against disease.

The iron in salmon helps keep your tissues alive Smith adds that salmon is a good source of iron, which is crucial for many bodily processes. Iron helps with the transfer of oxygen from your lungs to other tissues, and it also supports muscle metabolism.

Eating salmon is good for the environment Salmon is a great choice for the environmentally conscious eater, since eating salmon can do more than boost your own health. Alaska Salmon is both wild and sustainable, good for the environment and good for us.

Why won't he tell them My partner of 3 years won’t tell his daughters of my existence. He has been divorced from their mother for 4 years, and the girls are 27 and 24. At first I was understanding about him not telling them he was in a serious relationship, because he explained that they wouldn’t have taken it well. I have never been to his home as the girls live with him, and so he comes to me and often stays overnight. I ask him what he is telling his daughters when he stays overnight, and he says he is staying with one of his guy friends. His wife is no longer in his life now the girls are older, and the break-up was due to her, so I can’t understand why his daughters can’t be told. I haven’t stayed quiet about this, and pretty much constantly badger him about revealing his relationship but lately it’s started to affect how we are together, and he’s not coming round so often. However, he still says he loves me and that the matter is out of his hands because he won’t upset the girls. You sound as though you are at the end of your tether over this. In your shoes I would give him an ultimatum; either he admits to your relationship, or you would have to seriously consider whether you have a future together. It’s the only way to know if he intends a proper future with you. His daughters are indeed old enough to realise that their father has a life of his own, and that he will at some point want to find another partner. No reasonable person would deny their father happiness. Tell him he can’t live his life so as not to upset others. Is he in charge of his own life and happiness, or not? WRITE TO SARA IN CONFIDENCE. €2m fraud uncovered in pharmacy National Police have uncovered Social Security fraud of more than €2,000,000 at a pharmacy in Huelva. During a search, officers found 73,074 false medicine coupons that were used by the pharmacist to fill in the proof of prescription sheets. Five people - a pharmacist, three pharmacy employees and the head of a printing company - are accused of falsification of documents and defrauding the health service. The investigation began in December 2018, after the Ministry of Health detected a series of irregularities in prescriptions billed by a pharmacy in Huelva. Investigators detected that prescriptions invoiced by the pharmacy used false medicine coupons. In May 2019, officers carried out a court ordered audit of the pharmacy’s inventory and found 73,074 false barcodes, used by the pharmacist to fill in the proof of prescription sheets that were later cashed in with Social Security. The pharmacy is believed to have drawn down on unclaimed medicines

prescribed in users’ electronic prescription files. They were able to simulate the dispensing of the medicines using falsified coupons, thereby claiming the cost of the drugs without having to issue them to the client. Investigators found that the scam was well organized and even went as far as describing the fraud as an “integrated activity in the usual operation of the pharmacy, with the knowledge and collaboration of all the employees who had

been developing it for the last eight years”. The pharmacy even had in its possession a large number of SIP that staff managed with total autonomy. To ensure the scheme worked, the pharmacy engaged the services of a printing company for the preparation of the false coupons (the part of the medicine packaging that a pharmacist will usually cut off and stick to the prescription in order to later prove the drugs have been dispensed).

Apple car going ahead Tech giant Apple is pressing ahead with its self-driving car project, Project Titan, and has given itself a target of 2024 to produce a passenger vehicle. The company is also promising next level battery technology. Project Titan has stuttered along since 2014 when Apple began to

design its own vehicle from scratch. A few years ago, Apple even scaled back its driverless car project in order to focus on software instead. Doug Field, an Apple veteran who had worked for a time at Tesla, returned to oversee the Titan project in 2018 and went on to lay off 190 people from the team in 2019. Apple’s goal is to build a personal vehicle for the mass market contrasts with plans of its rivals such as Waymo, which has built robo-taxis to carry passengers for a driverless ride-hailing service. Central to Apple’s new strategy is a battery design that could “radically” reduce the cost of batteries and increase the vehicle’s range. Making a new vehicle from scratch represents a significant supply chain challenge for Apple. Despite the fact that the company makes hundreds of millions of electronic products every year, Apple has never made a car. Those in the industry know that it took Elon Musk’s Tesla 17 years before it finally turned a sustained profit making cars. It is not yet clear who will assemble the Apple car, but sources claim that they expect the company to link up with a manufacturing partner to build the vehicles. There is also speculation that Apple will reduce the scope of its efforts to an autonomous driving system instead, and rather than building the whole car, will sell a system that could be integrated with a car made by a traditional automaker.

Volkswagen launches Driverless bus begins Golf GTI Clubsport 45 operating in Malaga Volkswagen has launched the new Golf GTI Clubsport 45. It’s a special edition version of the brand’s hottest front-wheel-drive hatchback, which features a host of cosmetic revisions and a few interior design tweaks to commemorate the GTI’s 45th anniversary. The Volkswagen Golf GTI Clubsport 45 is available to order from Germany now, with prices starting from €47,790. The German brand has also said that production numbers of the Golf GTI Clubsport 45 won’t be limited, although we expect VW will pull the car from the market next year, once the GTI’s 45th anniversary has passed. Cosmetic tweaks over the standard GTI Clubsport include new 19-inch alloy wheels, Matrix LED headlights, a larger tailgate spoiler and a contrasting black roof. Volkswagen has also fitted a louder Akrapovic sports exhaust system and a unique decal for the hatchback’s flanks, with special edition ‘45’ badges. Inside, the upgrades continue with a fresh set of sports seats, embroidered with the GTI logo. There’s a new sports steering wheel, too, which carries the same special edition 45 badging as the car’s exterior stickers.

Like the standard Golf GTI Clubsport, this special edition hot hatch is powered by a 2.0-litre turbocharged four-cylinder petrol engine, which produces 296bhp and 400Nm of torque. That’s 54bhp and 30Nm more than the standard Mk8 Golf GTI. The engine is only available with a seven-speed dual-clutch automatic gearbox, which sends drive to the front wheels via an electronically-controlled limitedslip differential for improved traction. Like the standard Clubsport, the 45 can sprint from 0-62mph in 5.6 seconds.

However, Volkswagen has added a new ‘Race’ package to the Clubsport 45 which, along with the new exhaust, removes the standard car’s top speed limiter. This means the 45 can comfortably push past 155mph. The first-generation Golf GTI was launched way back in 1976 and is widely regarded as the car that helped carve out the hot hatchback genre. Since then, Volkswagen has shifted more than 2.3 million examples, which the brand says makes it the world’s most successful compact sports car.

A new driverless, electrically propelled bus has begun operating a passenger service in Málaga, in the first such project in Europe. The bus, which began operating on Saturday, is equipped with a series of high tech sensors and cameras and runs a route between the port of Málaga to the city centre on an 8km loop, six times per day. “The bus knows at all times where it is and what is around it,” explained Rafael Durban Carmona, who runs transport company Avanza, which leads the public-private syndicate behind the project. The bus can also “interact with traffic lights” that are also equipped with sensors that can alert the bus

when they turn red, Carmona told the press. The bus uses artificial intelligence to improve its “decisions” based on data recorded along the route. The 12metre (39ft) vehicle, which looks like a normal bus, can carry 60 passengers and was developed by the Spanish company Irizar. Other driverless projects already exist in Europe, but none of them involve a standard-size urban bus that runs on a normal public street alongside other vehicles. Despite the advanced technology, there is a driver at the wheel to take control if necessary since Spanish law does not currently allow vehicles to operate without drivers. “We put it in automatic mode

and it runs completely autonomously,” says Cristobal Maldonado, the driver. The project received funding from the Spanish government and was coordinated with several universities. Earlier this year, a self-driving bus trial was launched in Singapore with passengers booking through an app and the bus taking them around Singapore’s Science Park, a hitech business hub, during offpeak hours. China has also tested driverless taxis in several cities. Lack of regulation and concerns over safety on the part of the general public are two factors often cited by experts that stand in the way of a wider rollout of driverless vehicles.

Scooters: Serious Injuries at 25km / h

A collision with an electric scooter, even at only 25 kilometres per hour, against a pedestrian or a vehicle can cause serious injuries. This is the main conclusion of the report, 'Crash-tests of electric scooters, associated risks and recommendations for safe use', carried out by Fundación MAPFRE in collaboration with CESVIMAP and which includes the results of two crash tests, based on previous simulations by computer. "The objective is to raise awareness of the possible risks of VMP (Personal Mobility Vehicles) abuse and to provide our support to manufacturers to improve the design of these vehicles and make them safer," explained José María Cancer, director of CESVIMAP. Crash tests In the first test, a mannequin on a

scooter hits a car laterally, at a speed of 25 kilometres per hour. The analysis of the collision establishes that the most affected area is the head of the scooter rider, but the cervical area is also exposed to a high risk, which can suffer whiplash in the moment after the collision, after hitting the head against the ground. "The parts of the head not protected by the helmet, such as the face, are the ones that suffer the most damage in this accident", highlights Jorge Ortega, coordinator of the report.

falls on when it hits the asphalt. For the driver, the risk of injury is reduced by 'landing' on the body of the hit pedestrian.

In the second test, the scooter dummy runs over a pedestrian child who suffers the most serious personal injuries: serious injuries to the knee, thorax, and head, which usually impact first, violently against the steering column of the scooter, and then against the ground. It also affects the shoulders, where the weight of the driver and the scooter itself

More accidents The report also highlights the growing use of personal mobility vehicles in recent years and collects unofficial accident data obtained by the media: in 2020 there were more than 100 traffic accidents with victims with scooters (24 more than in 2019), with 109 people slightly and seriously injured (26 more

"The data extracted from these tests has provided very valuable information on direct and indirect damages" , they affirm from Fundación MAPFRE, which has carried out these crash tests with an innovative towing device for VMPs, bicycles and motorcycles (with or without dummies).

than in 2019) and 6 deaths (1 more than the previous year). Most of the victims were between 16 and 35 years old.

that require admission to Intensive Medicine Units," explained Fundación MAPFRE.

Almost all claims occur in towns or cities (98%) and specifically, in vehicle lanes (66%). And they happen, mainly, as a result of collisions (60%), accidents (20%) and falls (19%). Cars (66%), pedestrians (11%), vans (8%), trucks and buses (7%) and bicycles (6%) are involved in these accidents, which are suffered mainly by people between 16 and 35 years old.

On a scooter, safely The MAPFRE Foundation recommends taking these measures into account to circulate safely on scooters and other personal mobility vehicles (VMP): - Always use a helmet and reflective vest or high visibility clothing. - Circulate on bike lanes and zones 30. - Respect traffic signs at all times. - Do not invade the sidewalks and get off the scooter when crossing a pedestrian crossing. - Do not use your foot as a brake to avoid injuries and do not use devices to listen to music. - Maintain the correct pressure of the tires and carry out proper maintenance of the scooter.

The factors that most influence a fatal accident are driving without a helmet (40%), recklessness committed by other vehicles (20%), and driving on interurban roads (20%). "Currently, a third of those affected by this type of accident suffer head injuries

Local Mobility and Safety Plans Published The DGT has launched a viewer on its website, dgt.es,which compiles practically all the plans and strategies that address road safety aspects at the national, regional, provincial, or local level. All the provincial traffic headquarters in Spain have collaborated in this work and an attempt will be made to keep it updated with new strategies and plans that appear or that have not been known in this first version. In the viewer, more than 80 safe mobility plans and strategies of autonomous communities, provincial councils, and town councils of all areas of Spain are compiled, which the DGT makes available to the public, redirecting the user to the area on the website where said document is located. In addition, now that the draft Law on Climate Change proposes that municipalities with more than 50,000 inhabitants should introduce urban planning to reduce emissions due to mobility, this initiative seeks to facilitate those responsible for implementing plans for safe mobility of a tool that allows you to learn about other experiences in areas larger or similar to yours; at the same time that it provides citizens with existing mobility plans in their environment (city council, province or autonomous community). With this work, the DGT facilitates and coordinates plans and policies related to road safety and safe mobility and, at the same time, places as a reference and methodological guide to develop road

safety plans. How to access Accessing the information is as simple as clicking on the link on the dgt.es website and then selecting on the map the region for which we want to consult the plan and the type of area (regional, provincial, or local). Once this is done, the existing documents and the document format are displayed, after which all you have to do is click on the link to the original website where you can download it to consult or save it. Municipalities, fundamental As the philosophy of the Safe System points out, improving road safety implies actions and changes at many levels. At the global level, international standards and regulations are critical to motivating changes at the national level. At the national level, the responsibility is to establish priorities, develop strategies, develop regulations ... the implementation of measures occurs at different levels. The experience of the last decade of work on safe mobility strategies has shown the importance of involving the territorial authorities closest to the citizen in this field, especially municipalities, to improve road safety. Indeed, road safety improvements, to be effective, must be tailored to the context and environment and circumstances. And along these lines, in addition, the DGT plans to update the catalogue of Urban Measures this year, a reference document in this area.

Arrests made after Elche CF, police raid Nou Camp zero points again Elche CF visited the Camp Nou known in English as the Nou Camp on Wednesday evening, a place where they have never won. In fact, we need to go all the way back to April 1978 for the last time the team scored at the imposing stadium of Barca. Elche put in a more than decent performance for the first 45 minutes against the mighty Catalan team whose squad included Messi, Jordi Alba and Griezmann to name a few!! Escriba's men did themselves, their manager and their fans proud by shutting down the attacks, with Badia showing off his skills time and time again. The Franjiverdes were not without their opportunities, in fact Boye could have put them ahead within the first minutes of the game had his shot not gone high! However, the second half was a completely different story. Elche CF didn't so much fall asleep as Barca woke up. Messi hammered home 2 goals in the 48th and the 68th minute. This was followed by a 3rd goal from

Jordi Alba on the 73rd. All in all, it wasn't an unexpected loss of 3 points for the Franijverdes whom managed a respectable 7 shots compared to the 14 of Barca. The match ended with Messi swapping shirts with the awesome Badia, who had once again been the saviour of his team. Then, on Sunday evening Elche CF took on Granada at the Los Cármenes Stadium, where we lacked a bit of luck. As Elche manager Escriba said, they should have drawn, had it not been for a small error in the 80th minuet which allowed Antonio Puertas to score the winner! The Franjiverdes unfortunately concede two goals to the one which birthday boy Lucas Boye scored in the 41st minute. Even the legend Nino, who was

substituted on in the 81st minuet for Fidel could not make a difference. Although with this appearance, he became the 7th footballer in the history of Spanish club football to have played 800 games. The 3 points would have seen Elche CF catapulted to 16th place and out of the relegation zone, but that was not to be. 19th placed Elche CF will play 4th placed Sevilla at home on Saturday the 6th March, kicking off at 16:15. As soon as spectators are allowed back into the stadiums, EuroTourGuide will once again be offering Coach Tours with Match Tickets to support Elche CF. Speaking last year, star striker Messi confessed to finding the situation 'strange' while Pique slammed the club's actions, saying in October: “It's a disgrace the club actually spent money to criticise us.” The alleged criticisms included attacks on Messi's reluctance to sign a new contract at the Camp Nou while Pique was targeted following his project to revamp the Davis Cup. Bartomeu denied the accusations last February but eight club members launched an official police complaint, prompting an investigation that has been ongoing for several months. Claims have also been made that Barcelona paid significantly above, around 600 per cent, the market rate for the services provided by 13 Ventures. It is alleged that the approximate £170,000 fee I3 Ventures charged for each of six contracts were just below the threshold at which the club's commission are required to sign off spending.

TALES FROM THE TOP FLIGHT ■ CHRIS DARWEN chris@costablancapeople.com

Many people, myself very much included, suggested that the Moysiah might end up being crucified at the Etihad against Manchester City. In fact, they coulda shoulda won with their xG (ask your Dad) being better than Pep’s lot managed. But, you don’t win games with a better xG - you need to put the ball in the back of the net and that’s exactly what John Stones and Ruben Dias did for City. Their goals mean that they’ve now scored more between them than they have conceded as a pair in City’s defence this season. If that doesn’t smack of 20 wins in a row, I don’t know what does. Guardiola admitted City were lucky to win but it’s easy to be gracious knowing that every week takes you a day nearer getting the Premier League title back in your hands. There was a bit of VARring around early doors at Stamford Bridge after Callum Hudson-Odoi appeared to play a bit of basketball with Mason Greenwood in close attendance. VAR felt Stuart Attwell should probably take a look but, if there’s one referee on the circuit with balls big enough to back his original decision even with video evidence suggesting something to the contrary, it’s Stuart Attwell. United fans hit social media blaming Jurgen Klopp for the penalty not being given in one of the more random apportions of blame this season - mind you, Klopp loves an excuse himself so he might have had some weird respect for the randomness of the flak coming his way. United players, however, believe they know why the penalty wasn’t given - according to Luke Shaw, Attwell told United skipper he

couldn’t give it as it would be too ‘controversial’. Because of course, not giving it removed any scrap of controversy whatsoever.

and evenings feel a lot nicer. It’s the time of year when the wheels start to fall of Brendan Rodgers’ Champions League Qualification Bus.

Who’d have thought that all Gareth Bale needed was Jamie Redknapp and Roy Keane to have a proper falling out on TV? If that was the fuel needed for the Bale rocket, we are all systems go - I mean, scoring twice against Burnley (before being subbed after 70 minutes) and adding it to that goal against West Brom means he is back, right?

Willian briefly came out of ‘mourning’ long enough for Martin Keown to award him man-of-the-match to close out a top week for the Arsenal and a not-so-top week for Leicester City. Getting knocked out of Europe and losing a critical Premier League match was one thing - losing Harvey Barnes to an ankle injury was very much the cherry on top of a turning point in the season cake.

Just how much are Spurs fans wishing their side could have played with this much intensity in any of those 20 matches in which they threw away leads earlier in the season? Tottenham were very, very good here and it wasn’t a case of Burnley being rubbish. Still, that’s four in four for Bale now and Tottenham followers can start to dream that he might do it in some bigger matches some time soon. Liverpool are back, baby - if it wasn’t for Aaron Ramsdale (the first that phrase has been used in a positive manner), the champions would have stuck seven past Sheffield United. The win prevented five top-flight losses in a row and marked King Klopp’s 20th anniversary in coaching in a nicer way than possibly expected. It’s that time of year, folks. No, not the month before the clocks change

According to Jonjo Shelvey, he of Newcastle United’s relegation battle, Leeds United are not a club he’d want to play for due to all that ‘pointless running around’ they do. I have no intel to suggest that Marcelo Bielsa has ever considered Shelvey a transfer target he’s too busy wondering how Leeds turned to Tottenham to make a January signing and ended up with that football pitch. Aston Villa took three points after Ollie Watkins showed Patrick Bamford the correct way to slip over when shooting and how to turn that into the perfect assist. Fulham will be kicking themselves after seeing teams above them fail to win, restricting Palace to zero shots on target and then failing to find a winner. With Newcastle and Brighton seemingly determined to add some late drama to the Premier League

relegation non-battle, Fulham could have closed the gap further. Still, a point does technically close the gap further I suppose. Just not as much as three. Beneath them are West Bromwich Albion. If you’d been forced to script their game with Brighton, you’d have probably settled on WBA scoring from a set-piece, Graham Potter’s side walking off having lost 1-0 wondering how on earth they’d failed to win (again). Well, Graham - missing two penalties doesn’t help, but then neither does Lee Mason giving you the nod to take it quickly, panicking once he saw their keeper wasn’t ready and then blowing the whistle again before the ball crossed the line. As if that wasn’t enough, Mason then changed his mind and allowed it before the headmaster in his office overruled him in public. You can imagine Mason isn’t feeling too good about things this morning, and I’m not going to join the probably online pile-on. However, I think getting accidentally cleaned out by a player in the opening minutes was a clue it was going to be a tough day at the office. Does Martin Dubravka’s super save in injury time mean Steve Bruce got it right by dropping Karl Darlow? Newcastle nearly lost another game of football as Wolves took a point from St James’ Park.
