Editor’ s Note

What’s up Key Club?! How has your summer been so far monsters? Mine has been:

2 cups of sleeping

1 cup of playing video

games

2 tsp. of editing

8 tbsp. of hanging out with my friends

1 tsp. of swimming

And lastly, add a dash of binge watching Netflix!

Although my summer hasn’t been all too eventful so far, I hope yours has been fun, or at least relaxing. I’m excited to be attending TROPICO-TC, which is our annual Key Club officer training conference. I hope to see you guys at future Key Club events, not just our general meetings! I hope you enjoy my baking themed newsletter, and until next time, keep roaring in service my orange monsters!

With sugar, spice, and everything nice,

HEY KEY CLUBBERS!

My name is Alyssa and I’m the current president of Cosumnes Oaks Key Club. I wanted to talk about why I joined Key Club! It started in sophomore year as a curious student looking for clubs to be active in. When my friend (our current secretary, Carlie!) asked me and my other friend to join a service meeting with her, we went along! That day, not only was I able to create cards for hospital patients, I was also introduced to an amazing club and its community. As the weeks went on, I started to become more active, participating in service events across Elk Grove. Before my junior year started, I was able to be the Media Task Coordinator for our division! I went to all the major events (DCMs, RTC, FRN (x2)) and I was lucky enough to be able to attend DCON this year. Overall, I joinedKeyClubforitslarge+diversecommunity, andIam gratefulthatIwasgrantedtheopportunity tobeCO’spresidentformylastyearas asenior!

On June 6th, COKC, MTKC, and SHKC hosted a summer interclub for members to relax, de-stress, and socialize with others after the school year. The main event of the day was making slime, but members also had the chance to enter in a raffle for a basket full of goods, do Color a Smile for service, eat yummy food, and pie their presidents! Look out for more fun interclubs in the future!

From June 15-16, members had the opportunity to head down to Cal-Expo to volunteer at the Crawdad Festival. Some tasks included helping out the info desk, serving crawfish, or watching over the kids area. The festival featured numerous live performances, countless food booths, and merchandise stands where people could purchase different clothes and trinkets. The event even featured races, raffles & giveaways, a car show, and a bunch of games!
