Editor’ s Note Editor’ s Note

As the weather gets warmer and the days sunnier, the end of the school year has come to a close and summer has officially started. Congratulations to the entire class of 2024 for finally making it to the end of your high school journey! I hope that no matter where you’re going after this chapter in your life, you’ll go on to achieve great things. To the rest of you, good job on finally making it to the end of the year! I hope you all have the chance to wind down from the stresses of this past school year and enjoy your entire, welldeserved summer break.

This has been a super hectic year for me, but also one of the most memorable years as of yet. Trying to balance my school and personal life with my first APs, along with my duties as BE has been a struggle, but I’m happy to have had my friends and family around to support me through it. Overall, my sophomore year has been a long year of discovery and new experiences, which I think is safe to say, has truly built me as a person.

Finally, as the school year comes to a close, I’d like to thank everyone in Key Club who has made this year so memorable. This school year was my first year as an officer of both extended and executive board, and I can honestly say that I couldn’t have asked for a better home club. Let’s continue to reach even greater heights next school year monsters!

Roaring in service, Skyla

May DCM

On Saturday, May 18th, Division 7 South officially held our first DCM of the year! Similar to last year, it was held at Countryside Park, Sacramento. We gathered at the center of the park, and the DCM was started! The D7S presidents started off with club updates, and then LTG Chigo presented our Member Recognition. Finally, she revealed the new DLT board for the upcoming year. To refresh from such a hot day, we had ice cream and pizza! After lunch, we gathered on the grass and played some water games. Some of these games included the water relay race, where members were lined up in 6 different groups, and had to pour the most water in a bucket. Finally, we gathered back at the quad and started our Water balloon the DLT 4 PTP event. Since we had so many water balloons left over, it ended in a Free For All water balloon fight!

On May 1st, we held our first COKC meeting with our new executive board for the 2024-25 term and our second to last meeting of the year. In honor of this, we hosted a candy salad potluck where members got the opportunity to bring candy to make a candy salad and eat it while doing service. During this meeting, we introduced our new executive board. Club members also had the opportunity to color in Color a Smile sheets for children’s hospitals. Overall, this meeting was a blast!

On May 15th, we had our last general meeting of the year! During this meeting, we took the time to recognize all of the hard work our graduating seniors have put into Key Club within the past 4 years of their journey. Our members learned how to make orange and white ribbon leis to give to these special seniors at graduation. For many of us, it was a struggle at first, but once we got the hang of of it, it was a blast! In future years, we hope to continue this tradition and celebrate our seniors here at COKC!
