Remember Loved Ones At Special Event In Thetford

Annual events organised by a local hospice to remember those close to our hearts who are no longer with us and to celebrate their lives are being held across West Suffolk and Thetford. It is hoped the Light up a Life events, organised by St Nicholas Hospice Care, will help those who attend to remember special times they had with their lo ed ones and re ect on fond memories.

One of the remembrance events, which feature readings, music and prayers, will take place in Thetford’s United Reformed Church, IP24 2AD, on Thursday 9th December, at 7pm. This year there will also be an online service, which can be viewed from 6pm on 21st December.

Charlie De-Moore, the hospice’s events fundraiser, said: “Our Light up a Life remembrance events create a comforting atmosphere as people gather together to remember loved ones. “The events offer people who are bereaved, their family and friends an opportunity to join together and remember those that have died. It is a chance to celebrate and give thanks for their lives. These events are something we would like the whole community to share in, anyone who would like to remember a loved one, whether they were cared for by the hospice or not are invited to attend.” During the events, the names of loved ones will be spoken, readings will be shared, and there will also be music and prayers. People can also remember their lost loved ones and share their tributes online through an online book of remembrance on the hospice’s website. There is no charge for the Light up a Life events, which this year are supported by Chassis Cab, but donations to the hospice are welcome. These donations will make a big difference to the charity, which needs to raise £11,000 a day to fund its work supporting those facing dying, caring and grief across West Suffolk and Thetford. Due to the ongoing Covid-19 pandemic, measures will be in place at all Light up a Life services to ensure the safety and welfare of everyone attending and supporting. People will be asked to sanitise their hands, encouraged to wear face coverings/masks, and in some cases, venues may limit capacities to enable social distancing. The hospice will also be asking people to let them know in advance if they wish to attend.
