En-route to your mountain lodge, visit the Inca ruins of Tarawasi and drive through a winding road to Marcoccasa. Here, begin your trek to Soraypampa on an old route called the “Camino Real” (Royal Path) - a beautiful six hour trek. (Breakfast, picnic lunch, dinner included)

DAY 06 HUMANTAY LAKE DAY HIKE (3869M)

Take a 4 hour acclimatization hike on the slopes above the lodge to Lake Humantay. (Breakfast, lunch, dinner included)

DAY 07 SALKANTAY/ WAYRA LODGE (3906M)

Hike 6-8 hours up the Rio Blanco Valley, circling Humantay Peak across from Salkantay Peak. The highest point on the trek is the Salkantay Pass at 4638m. (Breakfast, lunch, dinner included)

DAY 08 DESCEND: WAYRA LODGE TO COLPA LODGE (2870M)

Descend 3-4 hours along the left bank of the Salkantay River with views of increasingly verdant scenery. (Breakfast, lunch, dinner included)

DAY 09 ALONG SANTA TERESA RIVER VALLEY TO LUCMA LODGE (2130M)

Hike 5-6 hours along the Santa Teresa River Valley. Stop for a hot picnic lunch served by the river. Hike for another hour before a private vehicle transfers you to the beginning of the “Llactapata Inca Trail” (aprox. 30 mins). (Breakfast, lunch, dinner included)

DAY 10 LUCMA/ MACHU PICCHU (1900M)

Head uphill for 2-3 hours towards Llactapata Pass (2736 m), where you will come upon a distant but spectacular view of Machu Picchu Sanctuary from the southeast! Lunch is served at a scenic viewpoint. Begin your final descent then board a train for a scenic ride (approx. 1hr) to Machu Picchu town. (Breakfast, lunch, dinner included)

Start your adventure on a 4-wheeldrive to Salar de Uyuni (World's largest salt dessert) with a visit to the Incahuasi Island (access not be possible between Nov to Apr due to high rainfall). DAY 10 COLCHANI / POTOSI / SUCRE

Drive 4 hours to Potosi, en route visiting the Pulacayo mine. Potosi, a UNESCO World Heritage Site, was founded as a mining town. You will visit the San Lorenzo Church, La Compañia Tower, the Cobija Arch and the Royal Mint. Continue to drive for 2.5 hours to Sucre. (Breakfast, lunch included)

Soak into the charms of this colonial city. Visit the Convent of La Recoleta Museum, see the admirable façades of the churches of San Lazaro and Santo Domingo. Unless you are a die-hard enthusiast for wildlife, you would probably visit the Galapagos once in a lifetime. So, the most common questions when planning a trip to the islands would be the length of the cruise, size of the ship and the month of travel.

Length of cruise: Cruises range from 3 to 14 nights. The longer the length, the more islands you will be able to visit. A 3 or 4 night cruise gives you a taste of the islands and its main highlights while the 7 nights cruise is the best, allowing one to experience the remote islands with some of the best snorkeling/scuba diving in the area. Seasons: The Galapagos climate is influenced entirely by the ocean currents. The warmest months are from December to April featuring warmer days, clearer skies, sporadic rains and a calmer sea. May to November are cooler, but tradeoff with a rougher sea.

Size of the ship: There are many ships plying the waters in Galapagos, from yachts to large cruise ships. Large ships (80-100 passengers) are more stable, spacious with amenities and appeal to travellers concerned with sea sickness. Smaller ships (12-20 passengers) tend to rock more and are noisier, as space is restricted and one cannot get too far away from the engine, but is compensated with a more intimate experience on board. Small ships are highly flexible with stops and allows more time on the islands. Mid-sized ships (40-60 passengers) offer the “middle ground”, with the intimacy of the smaller ships combined with the space and amenities typically found on larger ships.

The drive passes gold-mining towns, the infamous prison of El Dorado and the dense forest of Sierra de Lemo before suddenly changing to the great plains of Gran Sabana. DAY 04 LA GRAN SABANA

Learn about the indigenous Iboribo community and cross the Aponwao river by the local curiara canoe and walk to the amazing Chinak Meru waterfall. After lunch, pass the rapids of Kamoiran, the Kawi Meru waterfall and the Nak Piapo lookout for a fantastic view of the great plains crowned by the majestic tepuys. Continue to the town of Santa Elena for dinner and overnight stay. (Breakfast, lunch, dinner included)
