Suggestions, foods, herbs, and supplements to support and strengthen your natural immunity focuses on how we can create a stronger immune system over time and support it's journey to a healthier state. The immune system can be divided into two distinct categories: one is innate and the other is adaptive.

Innate vs. Adaptive Innate Immunity is what we are born with or our first line of defense against unwelcome viruses, baceria, and parasites. Adaptive immunity is the protection our immune system learns throughout our lives as we are mildly or moderately exposed to these things either through vaccinations or natural experiences. Discerning the Times There's a Biblical saying, "to everything there is a season and a time for every purpose under heaven." There is even a time to build up and a time to tear down. Having a mild to moderate exposure level (or "dosage") to germs, especially when you're young, can actually prepare and strengthen your immune system. The key is in moderation. Examples I've heard where this

applies is playing in the dirt, dogs licking our face, working with typical farm animals, and so on. A mild to moderate exposure helps the immune system learn how to develop antibodies to fight off unwelcome viruses and bacteria.

However, this kind of exposure is best done more frequently in times when a we are not going through a pandemic. There is a time to "tear down" old limitations. The time to "build up" our immune system is when we are "going through a storm." So How Can We "Build Up" or Support Our Natural Immunity? Let's start with diet..... Here are a few natural foods, herbs, and supplements to start with to build up your immunity:

¡0 Garlic- Garlic comes in many forms, but compounds in it are responsible for killing countless micro-organisms. I like using it as a spice and supplement.

¡1 Vitamin C- Vitamin C really supports your immune system when starting to feel "unbalanced" or getting sick or getting over a cold. I like the supplement that is a powder that changes to a liquid when water is added because it is absorbed faster than a capsule.

路2 A Good Multivitamin- A good multivitamin is always good to "fill in the gaps" of your diet where you are missing important vitamins. Powder changing to a liquid with water is better absorbed than capsule.

路3 Echinacea- This is a plant which can be bought as a supplement by itself or mixed with other helpful and natural chemicals in an immune capsule. Echinacea has a compound in it that inhibits viruses and bacteria from getting through to healthy cells.

路4 Elderberry- Elderberry is a plant that can be used as a supplement which has a lot of antioxidant and anti-inflammatory compounds in it.

路5 Turkey Tail- This is a mushroom that is well-known that has polysaccharides in it that have immune enhancing power. There may be supplements of this or supplements that contain this on the market somewhere. Please be careful when picking in the wild and chosing a reputable supplier. Mushrooms that are misidentified and ingested can make someone very sick. A Summary It's important to have a mild to moderate exposure to some germs in order to build up immunity. It is also important to support your immune system through supplements in this journey to become stronger, especially when sickness is more common.

Putting It Into Action... Are you overly impulsive about germs during seasons when illness is not widespread? Can you allow your immune system to develop more antibodies during this time and use suggestions, foods, herbs, and supplements to support and strengthen your natural immunity during times of widespread sickness?
