MEDIA INFORMATION 2017
Introduction
F
or over a decade, Climate Control Middle East has been covering the regional and global HVACR industry with an unwavering commitment to providing in-depth news and analyses on policy, business and technology. The coverage has included a broad sweep of topics ranging from energy security to food safety and security, from building performance to climate change, from data centre cooling to process cooling and from fire safety to vaccine (pharma) integrity. Embedded in them are specific topics related to district cooling, standalone systems, hospital ventilation, transport refrigeration, cold storage warehousing, indoor environmental quality across diverse building profiles, commissioning, building retrofits, refrigerants and more. In covering the topics, the magazine has constantly applied such markers as health, energy efficiency, resource conservation, reliability and cost-effectiveness, keeping in mind broad social, environmental and economic ideals. Over the years, Climate Control Middle East has earned the approval and respect of stakeholders in the industry, be they ministries, planning authorities, policy-makers and regulators in government; master developers and developers; contractors; consultants; technology solutions providers or service providers. Playing the role of a conduit or of a commentator, the magazine has striven to be the voice of the industry and to collaborate in community building. It has celebrated path-breaking policy decisions, bold engineering approaches and best practices that have gone on to benefit people and planet.

Retrofit News & Chronicle First published in 2010, the supplement was path-breaking in its presentation of news, analyses and reports on a fledgling retrofit industry in the region. Today, with ‘retrofit’ in popular currency, the supplement is attracting substantial interest for the unique historical perspective it is able to offer and for its tracking of current efforts through interviews with high-profile stakeholders, casestudies, features, reports and analyses. The issues include retrofit finance, the availability of specific technology, the rental market and installation-related challenges and innovations.

YOUR GATEWAY TO THE HVACR INDUSTRY IN THE MIDDLE EAST
November Issue
Climate Control Guide & Directory (CCG&D) Into its ninth year, this standalone annual book is a ready-reckoner that lists all the players connected to the HVACR industry. The book, in Super-A5 format, is a comprehensive directory of manufacturers, resellers, agents and service providers, so that readers across the Middle East are able to find products in their territory. The book – primarily consisting of product-wise and company-wise listings – offers vendors targeted distribution to customers they need to reach, unlike the usual crowded directory in a generalindustry magazine. Today, thousands of consultants, contractors and buyers of HVACR products (including representatives of master developers and developers), in general, consider CCG&D as the most-focused HVACR reference book for the Middle East region.
PUBLICATION LICENSED BY IMPZ
Published every November, the book enjoys immediate exposure, thanks to The Big 5 Show, Dubai (www.thebig5exhibition.com), held in the same month. Further, it is distributed at all major HVACR- and construction-industry events in the Middle East and elsewhere, including AHR EXPO, The Big 5 Saudi, The Big 5 Kuwait, WETEX, Project Qatar, IDEA’s Annual Conference & Trade Show, ISH, Mostra Convegno, Chillventa, Saudi Air-Con and Saudi Build. In addition, it is extensively distributed through CPI Industry’s very own bouquet of marquee conferences and events. In short, it enjoys a year-long shelf-life.

The 3rd Annual Middle East Variable Refrigerants Flow Conference, held on March 30 and 31 at the Habtoor Grand Beach Resort, Dubai, served as a platform for end-users, consultants and manufacturers to discuss issues plaguing the VRF industry. Lack of operational data for VRF systems and a call for the harmonisation of regulations were the two topics that secured major time and attention amongst the stakeholders. We bring you the first part of the report.

rom humble beginnings more than 10 years ago, Climate Control Middle East has very surely positioned itself as the single authentic mouthpiece of the HVACR industry in the Middle East. Every stakeholder in the HVACR industry in the region refers to Climate Control Middle East as their single, one-stop reference resource for the happenings in the industry, and this speaks highly of the team that conceived the magazine and nurtured its growth. Much of the phenomenal reputation of the magazine can be attributed to the unflinching and unbiased coverage of the industry, the technical soundness of its articles and the role it plays as the voice of the HVACR industry. Climate Control Middle East successfully connects the industry to its end users and is always at the forefront of new ideas and innovations. I have no doubt that the magazine will scale new heights at the global level in the very near future.

5th Annual Middle East Variable Refrigerant Flow Conference Towards critical mass 27 March 2017 Al Yasat Ballroom, Roda Al Murooj Downtown, Dubai, UAE
www.vrf-me.com
While the downstream aspects of the food cold chain receive a lot of attention from regulators, the mid-stream, consisting of cold storage warehouses, could be strengthened through better specialised refrigeration consultancy and contracting practices. Food Chain, into its 8th edition, will bring together 3PL cold storage warehousing companies and dedicated warehouses (large, medium and small), government regulators, contractors, consultants and technology solutions providers for macro- and microdiscussions that could yield solutions for better cold storage design, construction, operation and maintenance.

The Consultant Contractor Conference
Doha International Food Safety Cold Chain Conference
Strengthening the foundations for better building performance 15-16 May 2017 | Dubai, UAE
September 2017 | Doha, Qatar
The conference will be the most comprehensive ever and will feature the largest gathering of general and MEP consultants and contractors in the GCC region with an agenda to discuss issues that are preventing and, at times, perhaps even impairing them from delivering optimal solutions. The conference comes at a critical time. With mega events looming in the horizon, and an urgent need for the building industry to align itself with environmental and socio-economic goals, such as the UAE Strategic Vision 2021, there is no disputing the fact that best practices in consultancy and contracting services represent two important pillars that hold up such ideals as energy efficiency, reliability and IEQ. In view of this, the Conference will hear the consultants and contractors speak on their concerns and explore the pathway to an enabling environment for them to sustain their businesses and to offer the best-in-class solutions.
Held under the patronage of the Qatar Ministry of Municipality and Environment, the Doha International Food Safety Cold Chain Conference and Expo is the most comprehensive canvas ever to address food safety issues in the Peninsula. With the 2022 FIFA World Cup not too far away, the objective of the Conference is to highlight the progress made to date in promoting the science, technology and business best practices in food safety, and exploring the road ahead to strengthen the goal of a safe and healthy society, as enshrined in Qatar National Vision 2030. The Conference is also envisaged as a meeting ground of cold chain-related technology experts from the world over with a view to understanding global best practices. A key objective of this is to understand how the various technologies can fit well to provide a cutting-edge cold chain structure in the Peninsula.
2017 EVENTS
With increasing pressure to reduce power consumption, energy-related regulations have firmly come to the forefront. Bodies like SASO and ESMA moved into this a few years ago, and Qatar and Bahrain have launched MEPS programmes. These developments sit well with the VRF industry, which according to manufacturers and suppliers of the technology, can achieve critical mass sooner than later. The drivers are a drop in unit prices, proven ability for energy efficiency, flexibility, and the growth in the number of consultants, installers and maintenance personnel, who have received specialised and dedicated training in the technology in the region. Special Feature: ‘VRF Installation Challenge Competition’ – a live theatre, where installers pit their skills and expertise to demonstrate the ease with which VRF systems can be installed in a facility.

2017 EVENTS
Widely called the Oscars of the HVACR industry, the objective of the blacktie, gala dinner event is to recognise merit across the various disciplines of the HVACR industry and to raise the bar on building performance, cold chain and fire safety, to name three. To achieve the objective, CPI Industry enlists the services of seasoned HVACR professionals as judges and of a thirdparty certification agency to evaluate companies under several categories. Into its seventh year, the Awards exercise serves as an objective and accurate barometer of the industry.

2nd Annual Middle East Fire Safety Conference 4 October 2017 Andalus Ballroom, Habtoor Grand Resort, Jumeira Beach, Dubai, UAE Starting with an endeavour to demystify recent updates to fire codes and the role for the HVAC industry, the conference seeks to address such specific issues as system integration, design analysis, smoke ventilation design in high-rises and healthcare facilities, the use of CFD in HVAC, zone control, lift lobby pressurisation systems, smoke purging, smoke curtains, fire-rated fans, building thermal insulation, power cables and sealants. The conference is the only platform that brings together expertise in HVAC and fire safety, thus giving a unique perspective on a critical aspect of society.

limate Control Middle East has established itself as the most important magazine for our industry in the whole Middle East region. Eurovent and our new issue group, Eurovent Middle East, have keenly contributed editorial insights, and we are looking forward to doing so even more in the future. As we are endorsing quality in our industry, we are also endorsing quality when it comes to publishing. Eurovent Middle East and its members recognise the leading role Climate Control Middle East is playing in this field and look forward to increasing the fruitful exchange already in place. limate Control Middle East magazine is the only one of its kind in the region, as it focuses on a niche sector. For us at TROX, having a magazine that focuses on the HVAC industry, and which is not scared of talking about its shortcomings and achievements is significant. We have a long-standing relationship with the magazine, because it helps promote good quality and raise awareness of issues within the industry to customers, manufacturers and consultants.

1st Annual Middle East Building Asset Management Conference 30 October 2017 | Dubai, UAE
Transforming building-retrofit aspirations into bankable projects in the region with a view to helping accelerate energy-efficiency targets 11 December 2017 | Dubai, UAE The key objective of the Conference is to engage the building services industry, building owners and banks and other financial institutions in discussions, which it is hoped, would lead to a better understanding among the stakeholders, thus facilitating a transformation of building-retrofit aspirations into bankable projects in the region. Doing so, it is further hoped, would help the cause of accelerating the meeting of energy-efficiency targets.

he magazine provides great insights into interesting topics, pressing issues and new technologies. It is an excellent platform for the HVAC community to communicate challenges, solutions and best practices. The magazine’s increasing focus on sustainability and the preservation of energy and water is an essential component of its success. It has been a great space to share my thoughts as an HVAC professional as well as a representative of the ASHRAE and CIBSE local chapters. The magazine and its efforts to bring together the HVAC community via various equally successful and essential conferences and events are what make Climate Control Middle East stand out. Congratulations to the Editor and the team for an exceptional editorial profile in the Middle East. I look forward to continue being a part of the success of such a platform.

like to keep up with news about District Cooling, and I find Climate Control Middle East magazine to be a valuable resource. Its in-depth, educational articles are a great source for industry professionals and especially for those who are curious but might not be experts in some climate or energy-related fields. The well-rounded articles vary in topic area, thereby providing a variety of interesting reading.
