Zum 20-jährigen Jubiläum der Neueröffnung der ALBERTINA wird ein grandioses Ausstellungsduett zur Druckgrafik der letzten sechs Jahrhunderte präsentiert. Seit der Gründung der ALBERTINA durch Albert von Sachsen-Teschen vor über 200 Jahren liegt ein Schwerpunkt des Sammelns darin, der jeweils zeitgenössischen Kunst gesteigerte Aufmerksamkeit zu schenken: Dürer, Munch, Miró - The Great Masters of Printmaking macht hier den Anfang. Wie kaum eine andere Sammlung weltweit vermag die Albertina die Geschichte der grafischen Künste mit den herausragendsten Stücken zu präsentieren. Die Ausstellung reicht von den ersten druckgrafischen Experimenten bis zur Kunst der Moderne. 2. Heeresgeschichtliches Museum

Eines der am meisten unterschätzten, aber auch interessantesten Museen Wiens. Der Schwerpunkt des Museums liegt auf der Geschichte der Habsburgermonarchie bis zu ihrem Zerfall im Jahr 1918. In einem Saal sind das Auto, in dem der Thronfolger Franz Ferdinand und seine Frau 1914 erschossen wurden, die blutgetränkte Uniformjacke des Erzherzogs und die Chaiselongue, auf der er starb, zu sehen. Ein Herzstück der Sammlung ist der sogenannte „Marinesaal“: eine Ausstellung über die Geschichte Österreichs als Seemacht. Was viele nicht wissen: Als Österreich noch Zugang zu den Meeren hatte, war es über 200 Jahre lang eine bedeutende Seemacht.

2. Heeresgeschichtliches Museum

One of the most underrated, but also most interesting museums in Vienna. The museum focuses on the history of the Habsburg monarchy until its collapse in 1918, and one room features the car in which the heir to the throne Franz Ferdinand and his wife were shot in 1914, the archduke’s blood-soaked uniform jacket, and the chaise longue on which he died. A centerpiece of the collection is the so-called “Marine Room”: an exhibition on Austria’s history as a naval power. Ever since the ALBERTINA was founded by Albert von Sachsen-Teschen more than 200 years ago, one focus of collecting has been paying increased attention to contemporary art: Dürer, Munch, Miró - The Great Masters of Printmaking starts here. The Albertina is able to present the history of graphic arts with the most outstanding pieces like hardly any other collection in the world. The exhibition ranges from the first graphic print experiments to modern art.

3. Botanischer Garten der Universität Wien

Rund 11.500 Pflanzenarten aus sechs Kontinenten wachsen im Botanischen Garten der Universität Wien. Die vielgestaltige Anlage umfasst einen Englischen Landschaftsgarten mit Pflanzen aus den wichtigsten Verwandtschaftskreisen, eine Gehölzsammlung, eine pannonische Steppenlandschaft, Glashäuser und vieles mehr. Die einzigartige Pflanzensammlung beherbergt vom Aussterben bedrohte Arten, Exoten und Vertreter der heimischen Flora. Viele davon werden von WissenschaftlerInnen erforscht und für die Ausbildung von Studierenden verwendet. Die Baumgruppen und Wiesen des Gartens sind ein wertvoller Lebensraum für Wildtiere. About 11,500 plant species from six continents grow in the Botanical Garden of the University of Vienna. The multifaceted complex includes an English Landscape Garden with plants from the most important family circles, a woody plant collection, a Pannonian steppe landscape, glasshouses and much more. The unique plant collection houses species threatened with extinction, exotics and representatives of the native flora. Many of them are researched by scientists and used for the education of students. The garden’s groves of trees and meadows are a valuable habitat for wildlife.
