THANK YOU MA’AM Her Majesty The Queen’s Platinum Jubilee Gill Sherry
Can you imagine doing the same job for 70 years? It’s inconceivable isn’t it? Yet, that’s exactly what Her Majesty Queen Elizabeth II has done. I appreciate it’s not your average nine-to-five role but even so, it’s still a huge commitment and an amazing achievement.
I wasn’t even born when her coronation took place in 1953. I do, however, remember her Silver Jubilee in 1977 when parties and parades took place all over the United Kingdom (and beyond) to celebrate the 25th anniversary of her accession to the throne. I may only have been nine years old, but I can still picture the Union Jacks that decorated almost every home in the land. The Queen’s Golden Jubilee was equally memorable and was celebrated internationally. As was her Diamond Jubilee in 2012 which marked 60 years on the throne. It was a year of double celebration as it was also 65 years since she had married Prince Philip, their blue sapphire wedding anniversary taking place later in the year.
Understandably, the Platinum Jubilee promised to be even more memorable. And why not? Queen Elizabeth II is the first British Monarch to celebrate 70 years of service. A special extended bank holiday weekend allowed the people of the UK to mark the occasion and celebrate the historic milestone. With Her Majesty recently having to withdraw from some official engagements due to ‘mobility issues’ it was an absolute treat to see her waving from the Palace balcony, albeit without the Duke of Edinburgh by her side. The Duke had been a constant source of support throughout the Queen’s reign until his death in April 2021 at the age of 99. The highly anticipated family gathering on the first day of the celebrations wasn’t quite the same without him. That said, she was still able to enjoy the spectacular RAF fly-past, perfectly choreographed by Spitfires and The Red Arrows.

JUNE 2022
Other commemorative events included Trooping the Colour, A Royal Gun Salute, and a Platinum Party at the Palace. Famous faces (Sir Rod Stewart, Alicia Keys and Diana Ross to name just three) came together to perform a night of musical tributes which not only entertained the live audience of 22,000 but also millions of TV viewers across the globe.
On the Sunday, a Platinum Jubilee Pageant took place that saw hundreds of thousands of people converge on the capital, keen to pay tribute to Her Majesty as well as to enjoy the spectacle. The Pageant featured iconic moments from the past 70 years, a colourful and nostalgic procession along the length of The Mall involving key workers, volunteers, the military and celebrities from film, sport, music and TV. Ed Sheeran closed proceedings with a fitting rendition of his popular hit Perfect.
Indeed, it was a perfect display of pomp and pageantry, a party quite literally fit for a queen and the ideal opportunity for so many people to say thank you for her loyalty and selfless dedication. It was a joyous occasion with a strong sense of togetherness and where the shared delight was palpable. For many, it was a once in a lifetime occasion, the rarity of a Platinum Jubilee a unique and magical experience. The Queen delighted crowds with a second balcony appearance on Sunday evening, emerging from the Palace with her heirs, Prince Charles, Prince William, Prince George, Princess Charlotte and Prince Louis. They were joined by the Duchess of Cornwall and the Duchess of Cambridge, the Queen outshining them all in radiant emerald-green.
As with any job, the role of Head of State comes with its challenges, many of which are known only to the British Monarchy and kept well out of the public eye. Unfortunately, the most difficult challenges have been open to public scrutiny and have caused Her Majesty a great deal of stress, embarrassment and humiliation. The absence of certain members of her family from various celebratory events was a very obvious reminder that even the Queen has her fair share of troubles.
Such scandals would put pressure on anyone and let’s not forget, the Queen is 96 years of age. However, she has continued to take her duties seriously and has acted with the utmost integrity throughout, always putting the monarchy ahead of everything else. Lesser people would’ve retired long ago, walking away from the trials and responsibilities that marred an already demanding role. There’s no denying, however, that it’s also a role of privilege.
The Queen has travelled far and wide during her reign, including a royal visit to Kuwait in 1979. She also welcomed His Highness Sheikh Sabah AlAhmad Al-Jaber Al Sabah to Windsor Castle during a state visit in 2012 during which she said: “Our relationship runs deep, and the United Kingdom is proud to have played its part in Kuwait’s recent history.” Ultimately, though, no amount of wealth, luxury or enviable travel can assure a trouble-free life in the Monarchy but, as she celebrates 70 years as Queen of the United Kingdom and 14 other Commonwealth realms, Her Majesty Queen Elizabeth II should be commended for her exemplary duty and dedication. She has continued to deliver on the promise she made 70 years ago during her coronation at Westminster Abbey: “The things which I have here before promised, I will perform and keep. So help me God.” The Platinum Jubilee was the ideal opportunity for her loyal subjects to celebrate Her Majesty’s many years of service. It has been an extraordinary reign during times of enormous change. Remarkably, at the age of 96, the endless constitutional and representational duties continue for the muchloved and respected Monarch. In fact, she was quick to issue a statement once the Jubilee celebrations had concluded: “My heart has been with you all; and I remain committed to serving you to the best of my ability.” She truly is an exceptional human being and I am proud to call her my Queen. Thank you Ma’am.

GMO-OOOOOH! Athari Abdulaziz Almutawa
Ali Alshobbar @ali.alshobbar
Let me begin by first unravelling what GMOs are, GMOs are “ genetically modified organisms”. It’s when an organism has been changed through biotechnology using In vitro nucleic acid techniques or fusion of cells beyond the taxonomic family as an organism whose DNA has been altered by genetic engineering. Before you start zoning off and start to imagine that consuming one of these GMO crops, you’re going to grow an extra limb or start mutating like Ninja Turtles. Let’s be clear that artificial selection is nothing new.
There is evidence that one of the first crops to be artificially selected is wheat this was found in archaeological sites in southwest Asia that dated back to 7800 BCE (Rangel, 2015). While, corn or maize is one of the major crops that has undergone substantial genetic alterations (Rangel, 2015). It began as a wild grass called teosinte that had tiny ears with very few kernels (Rangel, 2015). Numerous plant crops have undergone genetic modification to increase their resistance to diseases, insects, drought, heat, and saline conditions (Al-Salameen et al., 2012). As well as, improve the colour, flavour, texture, nutrient value, and shelf life of foods (Al-Salameen et al., 2012). So all these wonderful benefits come from GM production, which enables us to feed the masses. On the other hand, some concerns are attached to it also, which are; is that they might cause cancer, contribute to resistance to certain antibiotics in humans, resistance to pests and, herbicides, impact livestock, and last but not least the focus of our topic cause “allergic reactions”. The top ten foods that contain GMOs are; corn, soy, yellow zucchini, papaya, milk, canola oil, canned soup, meat, alfalfa and potato. There was this case where a woman named Grace Booth, 35 in California went into anaphylactic shock after consuming chicken enchilada which was later found to be a result of the taco shells containing a genetically modified type of corn called StarLink (Kaufman, 2001). This was a result of ingesting genetically engineered BT corn that not only invoked an anaphylaxis response within the body but could also deregulate several proteins, inhibit fertility, and alter the
overall immunological responses in the body (Cyran et al., 2008) (Damato, n.d.). As, during digestion, natural Bt-toxins are not entirely destroyed, and they do react with mammals (Verma et al., 2011). Therefore, there may be serious consequences of gene transfer if Bt toxin causes allergies (Verma et al., 2011). So the situation is that Kuwait does not regulate GM produce for the marketplace and has no form of labelling. In a study on the “Detection of genetically modified DNA in fresh and processed foods sold in Kuwait” conducted by Al-Salameen et al., (2012) it was determined that out of 89 food samples examined (raw and processed), 19 of them contained GM DNA elements. All I am asking for is mandatory labelling of GM foods so that there is a sure way to trace back any effects on the general public and that we are all reassured of our safety and freedom of choice! “So what do we want? Better quality assurance! When do we want it? NOW!” Reference List

What to See in Hong Kong, Off the Beaten Path
Latifah Al-Hazza
We’ve all heard of the popular tourist attractions in Hong Kong, like the view from Victoria Peak (pictured) or Hong Kong Disneyland, but you don’t always hear about the things you find away from the city streets that paint an authentic portrait of the region's culture. Don’t get us wrong, everyone should see iconic Hong Kong, but we have better surprises in store. If you know where to look, there are lots of places away from the crush of the skyscrapers where you can learn about the city’s unique position in the world.

Take a ride on a Star Ferry
Though there are now tunnels that connect the two sides of Victoria Harbour, many locals still use the Star Ferry vessels, a city mainstay since 1898, because of their reliability and efficiency. This is the most beautiful way to quickly commute across the world-renowned harbor and travel between Hong Kong Island and Kowloon. The best time to climb aboard is during the nightly Symphony of Lights laser show: At 8pm, skyscrapers on both sides of the water light up with laser beams, colored lights, and searchlights. Music is broadcast from both sides of the harbor and a refreshment is usually served.
Climb to the Big Buddha
Tian Tan Buddha, also known as the infamous ‘Big Buddha’, stands watch by one of Hong Kong’s most important Buddhist sanctums, the Po Lin Monastery. Those who brave the 268 steps to reach it are rewarded with both sea and mountain views. While they’re up there, visitors can walk through the monastery’s colorful formal flower garden and refuel with a vegetarian meal at the monastery’s restaurant. Opt to take the cable car and pay a little extra for the glass bottom…trust us, the thrill is worth it. Reach it on Lantau Island by taking the MTR to Tung Chung station (exit B), then taking a 25-minute ride to the island on the Ngong Ping 360 Cable Car.
Explore Lamma Island
Hong Kong has 263 islands, and believe it or not, most are inhabited. Although they're a short trip from Central by ferry, their slow pace feels like a world away. Lamma Island’s uniqueness lies in its blend of rural and tropical. Start by taking a 30-minute ferry to the island’s Fisherfolk Village. Local fishermen come to the 150-year-old temple to the Goddess of the Sea to pray for a successful return. Most visitors take a laid-back hike around the island past pavilion, beaches, and changing sea vistas. Along the way, vendors sell inexpensive frozen fruits—try the frozen pineapple. End the hike with a decadent seafood meal (we’re talking a whole fresh-caught fish, plus rice and veggies) from one of the many seafood stalls at Yung Shue Wan village before hopping back on the ferry. It’s a fairly easy hike but will take about four hours if you do the whole circuit.
Relax at Shek O Beach
Some call Shek O the most beautiful beach on Hong Kong Island—in fact, it’s the setting for many popular Cantonese music videos. The MTR Island Line to Shau Kei Wan station (exit 3) and a 20-minute ride on bus 9 from the Shau Kei Wan bus terminus are required to get to this beach town, but it’s worth the trek. Spend the day lounging or come here to rest after hiking Hong Kong’s popular four-hour Dragon’s Back Trail that connects Shek O and Tai Long Wan. The trail leads hikers deep into the lush wilderness where skyscrapers can only be seen as a tiny ribbon along the horizon. Shek O attracts surfers, paddleboarders, paragliders, and families who barbecue on grills in the sand. Take time to explore the narrow streets of its colorful village and grab a bite to eat at an authentic restaurant. Before calling it a night, grab a drink and some snacks at Ben’s Back Beach Bar (41 Stubbs Rd.), located right on the water.
Meditate at Tsz Shan Monastery
Tsz Shan Monastery, located in the Tai Po District, gives off a peaceful and serene vibe despite the fact its central attraction is a mammoth 249-foot-tall Goddess of Mercy (Guan Yin) statue. Its monastery, which replicates the Tang Dynasty Era, was only completed in 2015 and cost US $193 million. The sanctuary includes a bell tower, a drum dower, three temples, and a meditation path, so there's lots to explore. Look in at the learning and lecture halls—sometimes they offer Chinese calligraphy courses to visitors. Tsz Shan only allows about 500 guests a day; so booking in advance through its website (www. tszshan.org) is a must. The monastery can be reached by taking minibus 20B, which operates every 10–20 minutes to Tong Tsz from MTR Tai Po Market station. Disembark at the intersection of Tong Tsz Road and Universal Gate Road and walk uphill along Universal Gate Road for 10 minutes.
Hike Lion Rock Peak
14
Lion Rock, which got its name for the crouching cat it sometimes resembles, may be one of the most beautiful viewpoints in Hong Kong, and it’s found an hour's walk from Won Tai Sin JUNE 2022
MTR station, Exit B3. Choose a day that’s not too hot and fuel up with some noodles at the hole-in-the-wall restaurant at the entrance to the well-marked walk. The circuit should take 4–5 hours round-trip with some steep segments. Local website Hike Hong Kong gives the hike a 7 out of 10 for difficulty and advises that beginners may find it too tiring; the site also posts a great step-by-step guide on how to get to Lion Rock, with pictures.
Kayak in Sai Kung or experience a different type of market
Sai Kung is a charming little town on Clearwater Bay located in the North. To reach this part of the eastern New Territories, take the MTR to Choi Hung station (exit C2) then minibus 1A to the last stop. The first community settled in Sai Kung during the Song Dynasty (960–1279AD), and today it’s a perfect getaway from the fast-paced center of Hong Kong. Kiosks compete with kayak rentals and tours, which take explorers out by speedboat to paddle further from shore. Float among rock caves, sea arches, and even coral (yes, Hong Kong has coral). Since you’ll need some energy afterward, head to Seafood Street and choose your aquatic friend of choice from the floating markets that are tied to the piers, then take it to any of the restaurants to be cooked for a nominal price. Those who don’t paddle can stay on shore to watch Sai Kung’s fishermen tout their wares.
Spot pink dolphins
Whale watching and dolphin watching have become mainstream around the world, but pink dolphin watching tours are something different. Catch these unusual beauties while you can, because Hong Kong’s pink dolphins are endangered. These animals are actually white when they're at rest, but when they exert energy chasing fish, they flush with blood, making them look like they’re blushing. Narrated excursions run by Hong Kong Dolphin Watch last 3–4 hours, and there’s usually a good chance of spotting a few of them frolicking through the waters.
Cycle along the waterfront
Believe it or not, despite its density, Hong Kong has some great cycling paths. For a leisure ride, rent bikes at Sha Tin (MTR to Sha Tin station) and take the 13.5 mile paved route to Tai Po. The track starts along the Shing Mun River and continues alongside the waters of Tolo Harbour. The Guan Yin statue (from the Tsz Shan Monastery) can be spotted along the route. The route can be continued for an additional 5 miles past Tai Po to Pat Sin Leng seaside village. To refuel, check out Tai Po market’s indoor cooked food center, a local hotspot. The stalls are family-run, cheap, and varied with options. Warning: This is not like a food court found in a mall. Don’t be alarmed by the friendly mice crawling around nearby. That's just life in one of the world's most intense cities.
Count 10,000 Buddhas
At Ten Thousand Buddhas Monastery, they got a little Buddhahappy and made an additional 3,000 of them—have fun counting all 13,000 Buddhas. It takes a 431-step climb to get to the payoff, but not to worry, along the way, 500 unique lifesized Arhan statues attend the path (pictured) as a distraction. Each one has a different pose, facial expression, and outfit— some even wear lipstick. In the monastery’s main temple, 13,000 mini (12-inch tall) gold ceramic Buddha statues line the wall. Take time to explore the five temples, four pavilions, and nine-story pagoda which in 2001 was selected as the symbol on Hong Kong’s $100 bill. To reach it, take the MTR to Sha Tin station.
Win money on Horse Racing
Horse racing is a popular pastime in Hong Kong and we highly recommend attending an event. Get to Happy Valley, centrally located on Hong Kong Island (or go to Sha Tin in the New Territories), grab a racing guide, place your bets, join the nervous (but rowdy) crowd, and hope for some luck. To meet locals, ask for betting advice—they love to share their opinions. The competition is intense and the arena is full of food and impromptu dance parties. Even if you can’t bear the possibility of losing money, the scene is boisterous and entertaining. Admission price is HK$10 and no one under 18 is permitted. To get to Happy Valley, take the MTR to Causeway Bay station (exit A). For Sha Tin, take the MTR to The Racecourse station (only open on race days). www.cpmagazine.net

SAY ‘NO’ TO FLOWER WASTE HERE ARE TIPS TO TRANSFORM YOUR BOUQUETS OF FRESH BLOOMS TO BEAUTIFUL AND MEANINGFUL SOUVENIRS Dina Al-Malik from Flowers.ae shares her best tips on how to preserve all flowers you’ve received during this celebration month and give them a longer life.
16
JUNE 2022
Fresh blooms are undoubtedly one of the most classic gifts to share love and uplift someonethey will never go out of style. The passing of the holy month of Ramadan and Eid Al-Fitr and all the togetherness and joy it brings, is a time that is hard not to reminisce, and if you have vibrant bouquets and fabulous arrangements of flowers that are now starting to lose their freshness as the days go by, having to discard them is no longer something you have to do!
Whether you received an array of long stem blossoms, enchanting corsages or short-stem fragrant arrangements of fresh flowers, Dina Al-Malik, Marketing Manager at Flowers.ae, UAE’s leading luxury online flower shop shares her tips and tricks on how you can make your flowers last a lot longer than a few weeks, and remember the good times they represent for months to come.
1. PRESS AND FRAME YOUR FLOWERS TO MAKE BEAUTIFUL WALL ART
Not only is this another incredible way you can use flowers to decorate your home, but this method is also one that will make your flowers last for even up to a year, with their beauty and the memories they come with preserved! Simply take off your flowers from the bud and place them in any pattern your heart desires on wax paper. Then, place the wax paper with the flowers between the pages of a heavy book or a slab of wood, or any other heavy surface that is accessible to you. Place another sheet of wax paper on top and press your flowers to dry them for a week. Once your flowers are pressed together, place them on an empty frame and relive the memories whenever you walk past them!
3. DIP YOUR FLOWERS IN WAX
If you want to save your bouquets from the test of time without compromising on the look of the arrangement as it is, dipping your flowers in wax is the closest you can get. Simply melt some paraffin wax in a saucepan on medium heat and once your wax is melted, dip each individual flower in the wax and immediately take it out and hang it upside down to dry. For this technique, it is best to avoid using the flowers that have already begun to lose its color or its petals. Once the wax on the flowers dries, aside from touch, they will take you back to the very first night you got them, and keep them that way for months!
2. PRESERVE THEM IN SILICA OR RESIN
Also a great gift idea, or a way to make your coaster for your coffee table! All you need is easily available at your nearest stationary or craft store- select a shape for your mold for a small necklace pendant, a paperweight, or a coaster and fill it with epoxy resin. Then, carefully place your flowers or flower petals in your desired arrangement to the top and let it dry. Take off the mold after drying and unveil a beautiful decoration that preserves your flowers for years to come.
4. DRY THEM IN SAND AND CREATE POTPOURRI
If you adore the look of a vase full of potpourri and have enough flowers to create one, this ones for you! Simply dry your flowers in a bowl of sand for a week. Once your flowers have lost their moisture, you can either place them in a clear vase and create a beautiful and timeless centerpiece for your dining or coffee table, or tear the petals into smaller pieces and spray them with your favorite scent, and enjoy homemade potpourri that is sure to wow anyone that sees them. www.cpmagazine.net

FormerlyMe.com presents “Nutrition Plan”
WHAT IS FORMERLYME?
Jim West
Ask enough fitness experts and trainers and you will continuously hear that exercise is not as important to a healthy body as your nutrition plan. What we eat contributes significantly to our health. The old saying, “Garbage in, garbage out”. Is definitely a true statement. Also you have to unlearn the word 'diet'. Nutrition is positive long term habits and diets are short term phases. When I started my journey I knew I would be trying many plans to see what worked for me. I feel that there is not one plan that fits everyone and every person's body type and goals. 18
JUNE 2022
I first tried going 100% vegan plant based nutrition. The first week was rough, but by week two I felt great and had lots of energy. I was on this plan for over 90 days. Then I switched to a high protein low carb plan. Not quite to the levels of Keto or Atkins, but with reasonable allowances for victory days. I found that this plan gave little room for error or indulgences as I was still taking my proteins and other supplements.
Recently I decided to focus more on my gut health and try intermittent fasting with some more plant based components than I typically would consume. This I found to be the right balance for me. Just because this plan works for me doesn't mean it is good for everybody. I would strongly encourage anyone to seek out the professional guidance of a nutritionist, dietitian, or trainer to help you define, refine, and achieve your goals for your health. You get one body and one life to live. Live the best life you can; while you can with the right nutrition plan for you.
I then decided to go with a calorie counting plan which meant I could eat whatever I wanted but kept what I ate under 2000 calories a day. This included fast food and all the worst things out there in the supermarket aisles. I found that although I didn't gain weight, I simply felt sluggish and workouts were hard to push through.
Follow my journey online at FormerlyMe.com and on the YouTube channel. Next month I will cover my more unique experiences I had in 2021-2022. Until next time that has been FormerlyMe! facebook.com/FormerlyMe twitter.com/MeFormerly instagram.com/formerlymeofficial www.cpmagazine.net

The natural color palette takes inspiration from Turkey, blending soft shades of blush, cream, aqua, moss green, ocean blue and metallic grey. Fabrics sourced from Turkey are soft and luxurious in silk and organza, emphasizing the pared-back aesthetic. Silhouettes take shape in flowy kaftans, dresses and abayas highlighted by unique details such as a hooded abaya, backless cutout dress. Hand embroidered elements such as braided belts, tassels and raw edges add a bohemian touch while 3D embellishments adorn necklines, sleeves and cuffs to modern effect. Understated and versatile, HASHIMI’s SS22 Collection transcends seasons with effortless ease. 22

LA MAMOUNIA Inspired by the Arab-Moorish tradition that is prevalent in so much of Morocco’s heritage, the architecture and décor of La Mamounia seamlessly blends the opulence of the past with the style of modern luxury. The history of La Mamounia goes back to the 18th century when the Alaouite Sultan Mohammed Ben Abdallah offers a sumptuous orchard of 13 hectares to his son as a wedding gift. The son later transforms the orchard into a leisure venue for outstanding garden parties. Two centuries later, the Moroccan Railway Company decides to build a hotel on the site, which possesses an exceptional flora. The French architects Henri Prost and Antoine Marchisio design a structure that combines the ancestral codes of Moroccan architecture with the Art-deco style. La Mamounia is born from the union between the comfort of the West and the splendour of the East. A unique building where traditional Zellij tiles and Berber tapestries mingle with Art-deco furniture.

Since then, La Mamounia is known as the most famous and luxurious city hotel in North Africa. It has provided a peaceful oasis in Morocco’s capital of culture, Marrakech, for almost a century. In the blissful shade of the Koutoubia minaret, and just a stone’s throw away from the famous Jamaa El Fna Square, this palatial hotel with its fabulous tiling, silk draped ceilings and marble fountains has provided respite from the buzz of the Moroccan city’s medina since 1923.

Since the 1950s, personalities from French cinema and the Hollywood elite have all visited La Mamounia – Charlie Chaplin, Marcello Mastroianni, Claude Lelouch, Francis Ford Coppola and many other famous names from the filmmaking industry have visited for a peaceful retreat. Politicians are also frequent visitors of the Palace. Winston Churchill used to take up residence in winter to revitalise himself. Once he arrived at La Mamounia, he traded his suit and his figure as a statesman for that of an artist, without surrendering his customary cigar. He went from one balcony to another in pursuit of the sun, to reproduce that distinctive light in his watercolour paintings. In a letter to his wife, Churchill wrote “It is a marvellous place, one of the best hotels I have ever visited”. His love of the Palace has entitled him to lend his name to the hotel bar that he used to visit, as well as to one of the most emblematic suites. Franklin Roosevelt stayed here on Churchill’s recommendations, while the General Charles de Gaulle was seduced by La Mamounia for a one-night stay during which the director ordered a custom-made bed to accommodate his height.
undertake its latest design overhaul by the celebrated Jacques Garcia, with his trademark plush style and subdued lighting combined with the best of Moroccan craftsmanship. Now several spaces have been refreshed by the fashionable Parisian design firm Jouin Manku. The effect of the changes is to give the hotel a more modern, cosmopolitan feel. Renewed Mamounia feels more like a palatial oasis as opposed to a hotel. From the moment you take your first step in the hotel, you smell a delicate scents of dates that is all over the property (by the way, you can purchase the scent in the hotel shop and take home with you). The journey continues in the corridors of La Mamounia, which magically reproduce the Medina’s narrow streets. Behind the characteristic wooden doors that preserve guests’ privacy lie 135 rooms and 71 suites, where the quintessence of Moroccan craftsmanship is expressed in all its splendour, alongside impeccable contemporary decoration. Classic Traditional rooms on the ground and first floors and decorated with warm tones and have views over the city and internal gardens. Since 2018, Louise Trotter, Lacoste’s Artistic Director, has propelled a new wave of sophistication and modernity into the crocodile brand. Founded in 1933 by tennis player René Lacoste, the brand showcases the crocodile, Lacoste’s nickname on the tennis court and an emblem embroidered on his white shirts before each match. For the interaction with A.P.C., Louise Trotter worked with Jean and Judith Touitou to design playful pieces for women and men in which the famous crocodile encircles the A.P.C. logo. This collab resulted in essential sportswear pieces with military references dear to A.P.C. and a 90s touch in terms of colors and volumes. A windbreaker in navy blue nylon, in khaki gabardine and, of course, in denim. Loose jeans, shirts and polo shirts with blue and layette pink stripes. Roomy shirt-dresses for women. Not to mention slightly oversized polo shirts, also in a patchwork version. Completed with fleece pieces, joggers and sweatshirts that integrate different versions of the logo created for the occasion.
For the finishing touch, the collection includes accessories: sneakers, striped socks, denim bags as well as, amongst other items, a giant tote bag and an A.P.C. Lacoste candle whose scent evokes a stroll to the tennis courts in the Luxembourg Gardens in Paris.

55
Tell us a little about you as a person!
My name is Ali Al Muhanna. I am an 18-year-old author and writer constantly looking to formulate meaningful projects that could change my world and hopefully the world of those around me.
Tell us about your education.
I graduated from the American School Of Kuwait. I am also looking forward to obtaining a bachelor's degree in psychology at the University Of Bristol, England.
Share some of your childhood hobbies.
As a young kid, I was always interested in sports. I always envisioned myself participating in football-related paths. However, as I grew older, I realized that I was much better academically than athletically. That led me to other opportunities involved with writing.
What inspired you to write your first book?
It has always been apparent that my most significant strength is communication, primarily through writing. So when the Covid-19 pandemic took over in 2020, I was left with nothing but a desire to showcase my skills uniquely. A Cruel Path To Clear Perception was the way to start everything for me.
What was the most difficult part in the process? How did you overcome it? The most challenging part of the process was realizing that I was not ready. When I first wrote this book, I ended up with 30 pages. So I had to start from scratch, formulate a plan, create an outline, and turn my story into a 216-page book.
How did you decide on the title for the book?
Humans learn from their past. Our weaknesses and misfortunes make us wiser. A cruel path in life leads to a clear understanding of ourselves. "A Cruel Path To Clear Perception."
Who is your target audience for the book?
From what I have seen, people of various ages found this book helpful. The human mind constantly evolves. Some conclude that they must turn their weaknesses into strengths when they are 12. Some reach that conclusion when they are 70. That is the beauty of the message I portrayed.
How was the book published and how was been the response? I self-published this book and posted it on amazon. Many people were confused as to why I did not sign with a publisher or display my work in a bookstore, but I wanted this first book to be a product of my hard work. Furthermore, I liked the process to be exclusive to me. It still paid off as many people in Kuwait and some from various parts of the world ordered my book on amazon.
How did publishing your first book change your process of writing?
56
Publishing my first book was a unique experience. I had older and wiser writers read over it and tell me what I got right and, most importantly, what I got wrong. These priceless tips have only made me a better writer, and I strongly feel that if I were to write this book again, it would only be better. JUNE 2022
Does one of the main characters hold a special place in your heart? If so, why? How did you select the names of your characters?
Yahya is the main character of this book. My book follows his life story, which is also somewhat the story of my life. I called him Yahya and not Ali because I did not want readers to know where the story was going. Also, I selected local Arab names to represent a local Arab setting.
What message are you trying to convey through your book? The message I am trying to convey in this book is that our self-growth results from our failures. Whether we decide if those failures are detrimental or beneficial to us is up to us. We are the writers of our own stories.
Who are some of your favorite authors and why?
Dale Carnegie is my favorite author. He wrote “How to win friends and influence people,” arguably one of the best self-help books. He stood out to me because he would back up every piece of advice suggested with countless real-life experiences he and others around him had. In addition, his storytelling method was beautiful.
What’s your favorite genre to read? Is it the same as your favorite genre to write?
Unexpectedly, my favorite reading genre is not the same as my favorite genre of writing. My favorite genre to read is self-help. On the other hand, my favorite thing to write is to create stories. However, it does make sense because I still am not credible enough to write textual pieces relating to self-help. However, I plan on doing that one day.
You recently joined the group “Tafarudi”. Tell us more about that.
Tafarudi is a startup company whose main service is a website for freelancers in Kuwait. Freelancers can register and sign up, maintain a profile, and list as many services as they want under provided categories. I offer various writing services.
What are your plans for your higher studies?
I am looking forward to obtaining a bachelor's degree in psychology at the University Of Bristol, England. After that I will be aiming for a masters and doctorate degree in clinical psychology.
What are some of your hobbies?
Some of my hobbies are traveling, photography, football, and driving aimlessly.
Your message for our readers.
It’s never wrong to try. Go for whatever you believe in. Not a lot of people will believe in you but everyone will cheer you on once you make it.

Colorful markets, secret gardens, grand houses and palaces, small winding alleys, breathtaking desert… Marrakech is beautifully chaotic with a rich history dating back almost 1.000 years. Today it is home to an incredibly pulsating energy that invites you to wander aimlessly in search of stunning architecture, a cup of mint tea and maybe a spicy Tagine.

A colourful, bursting metropolis within the North African country of Morocco, Marrakech is a cultural and trading epicenter and a wonderful travel destination. It is one of Morocco’s imperial cities, a Berber/Arab fortress settlement often referred to as the Red City, because of its pink-tinted buildings, nestles like a rose-quartz gemstone near the rolling foothills of the snow-capped High Atlas Mountains. However during the nine centuries of its history, Marrakech has accumulated a significant green heritage. Since its creation in the 11th century, the town has become a model garden-city. The urban part of the Medina was then surrounded by a green ring of orchards and vegetable gardens. Since then, some districts have taken the names of their gardens (Arsat Missiouni, Arsat Chbani, Arsat El Bardii...).
JUNE 2022
More than just an oasis, Marrakesh is a real garden city. The four corners of the city offer green spaces reflecting the passion the Marrakchis have for the art of gardening. Since the city was created by the Almoravides in the 11th century, it has been a model garden city. The total area covered by the green spaces is about 350 ha not including the Palmeraie (palm grove) (10,000 hectares), the olive grove of the Menara (80 hectares). All those spaces offer the ochre city an average of 11- sq.m green space per inhabitant (the world of cial ratio is 10 sq.m. green space per inhabitant). Knowing, that these last years a new generation of art and ecological gardens, was born or spirit to be born, in Marrakesh, to enrich even more the city-garden.

THE SECRET GARDEN The origins of the complex date back in the time of the Saadiens dynasty, more than four hundred years ago. Reconstructed in the middle of the XIXth century by an in uential boss of the Atlas, the Secret Garden was the abode of few of the highest political personalities of Morocco and Marrakesh. The riad, which we can today appreciate fully thanks to its recent restoration, is part of the big tradition of the Arab-Andalusian and Moroccan palaces: the visitor can discover gardens and buildings which compose it and which constitute so many exceptional testimonies of the art of gardens, of the architecture and the hydraulics arabic. Thanks to the millennium and ingenious hydraulic technique of the khettara, the Secret Garden disposed indeed from its origin of domestic water, a rare privilege and an additional sign of its wealth. The original hydric system of the riad was restored too : The courses of the water show well the way the water coming from the Atlas was distributed inside the palace to irrigate gardens and stoke cookings, hammam and fountains.

JARDIN MAJORELLE The Majorelle Garden is a small, peaceful heaven, located in the heart of the city of Marrakesh. This botanical garden was created in 1931 by the French painter Jacques Majorelle (1886 - 1962) around his Art Deco studio of an astonishing modernity, built by the architect Paul Sinoir. This garden is a living masterpiece composed of exotic plants and rare species, which Jacques Majorelle, a botanical lover, brings back from his travels around the world: cactus, yuccas, water lilies, water lilies, jasmines, bougainvillea, palm trees, coconut trees, banana trees, bamboo... In 1937, the artist creates ultramarine both intense and clear blue, the Majorelle blue, of which he dyes his garden that opens to the public in 1947. The workshop became the Berber Museum, which was inaugurated in 2011 under the High Patronage of His Majesty King Mohamed VI. It presents a panorama of the extraordinary creativity of these people, the oldest in North Africa. From the Rif to the Sahara, more than 600 objects collected by Pierre Bergé and Yves Saint Laurent attest the richness and diversity of a culture that is still alive. www.cpmagazine.net

MOORISH ART IN THE MEDINA Exploring the medina by foot is one of Marrakech‘s finest enjoyments. It’s a whirlwind of emotions as you try to understand the narrow streets while being distracted by unexpected experiences, like people putting snakes on your shoulders, or the scents of colorful spices and herbs that are strange yet alluring. It can be a tad hectic, but it’s worth it! There are endless masterpieces of Moorish architecture like the Bahia Palace, the grand Koutubiya Mosque, the Kasbah Mosque or the Madrasa Ben Youssef, a Koran School. With its elegant 77m high minaret, the Koutoubia Mosque is the symbol of the city and one of the oldest mosques in Morocco. The busy Jemaa El-Fnaa, a UNESCO World Heritage Site, is a magic world of snake charmers, musicians, acrobats, water vendors wearing distinctive red suits and wide-brimmed hats and jangling bells, story tellers, ebony-skinned dancers in brightly hued costumes… You can also relax and recharge at the Menara, a vast garden with an emblematic basin. Marrakech shower its visitors by its splendour and its diversity, you just have to leave the ramparts to be immersed in modern Morocco. JUNE 2022
Hi, please introduce yourself in a few words?
Hello, my name is Maryam Khajah. I’m working as an Engineer in the Oilfield sector (Schlumberger). I’m also a fitness athlete and sports influencer. Acting as a board member in the Kuwait Federation of Sports for All & an active member of the competition committee in the Kuwait Federation of Triathlon. I’m a proud Leader of Thunders GYM, an Ambassador for ASICS Frontrunners team, a Global Ambassador for Spartan and OCR Buddy and Part of Aura Athleisure Circle. I’m usually very active in work and in sports; I run at 5 a.m. in the morning, work from 8 a.m.- 5 p.m. and workout 7 p.m. this is my routine. Sports became a big part of my life since I got all my family into sports; with my family support I was able to grow more in sports. Thunders GYM motivated me to start a healthier life journey; from the day I started growing more. My love for Obstacle course races is endless; this is where I started. I attended many OCR races locally and internationally; also qualified for many championships across the world and came back with golden medals. I was nominated and awarded by the Kuwaiti Ministry of Youth being a Kuwaiti successful achiever. I hold the first ever qualification for the OCR World Championships held for Kuwait in the USA and other championships. Moreover; I always like to motivate people into sports and a healthier life as this will be a great advantage for each person in the long run.
Tell us about your education:
I’m holding a bachelors degree in engineering. I graduated back in 2017 from the American University of the Middle East. I participated in the International conference of Industrial Engineers with my group & awarded the first place between many countries. I started multiple internships in Equate Petrochemicals, Kuwait Institute for Scientific Research, Zain telecommunications, Albabtain group for Automotive & etc. for 2 years until I was offered a job at Schlumberger Oilfield. I believe that a person can start from scratch to build their career; as this will help us learn to appreciate our job & earn our position with our own hands. I’m searching for my passion & seeking new challenges always.
What got you interested in what you’re doing?
I’ve never thought pf being into sports ever. A friend of mine asked to join a free class in a GYM and that’s how it all started. Thunders GYM provided me with everything I need and supported me all the way to reach my goals. My coaches (Ali Al Daihan, Mohamad Bagheri, Hussain Boushehri & Ahmed Al Rshaid) invested in me since day one; they got me into something I never expected I could reach. When I started to progress, I loved the journey because I enjoyed it. it was my stress relief sport. The day I joined my first ever OCR (Obstacle Course Race); I didn’t expect to finish it at all. But because my coaches believed in me; I did finish it with a big surprise. I completed the race and got my first medal & covered in Mud; I looked around the whole course and said to myself ” I did this?” “this whole race; I was able to do this?”. I had mixed feelings between happiness, achievement & success (I also wanted to cry). The feeling was amazing I said to myself ” okay that was fun, can I do it again please?”. The story didn’t end here; I went back home full of Mud and had my father waiting for me and surprised of all the Mud. I told him ” Baba, give me 30 minutes I will wash and come back to explain”. I told him everything; my dad was surprised & amazed of what I did. The next race my father joined me and we had a blast. After that my next family members started joining. I was happy to leave a good impact and influence my family into sports and a healthier life style.

Who are your top 3 heroes and why?
My Dad Haroun Khajah, my Grandma Qamar and my Coach Ali Al Daihan. Because they taught me that nothing is impossible and believed in me since day one. They were always there for me supporting and guiding me. I learned a lot from them and I’m still learning.
Tell us your journey to where you have reached today. I graduated in 2017 and wanted to find my passion. I didn’t want to choose the easy part. I wanted to prove myself until I reach a point where I find the place that makes me able to wake up go to work happily and perform very well; the struggle was to find my passion. I worked in many places as an intern; Equate Petrochemicals, Kuwait Institute for Scientific Research, Zain telecommunications, AlBabtain group for Automotive and etc. for 2 years until I was offered a job in Schlumberger Oilfield. People say you wasted two years just to find your passion; but for me those two years I learned many things between many different departments and companies. I still didn’t find my passion though; but I’m happy to where I’m going and building up my career. On the other part of my life I started when a friend asked to join a free class in GYM; today I’m an athlete with many achievements across the world. I started in Saracen race (located in Kuwait) from there I started to work on myself more until I reached the world championships for OCR races. I never thought I would take this path actually; it all began when my coach told me you can’t; I just wanted to prove him wrong, while in the process I enjoyed it and took it far than expected and loved it. today I’m an athlete holding multiple medals from gold to bronze from local to international. This is all because I surrounded my self with positive people and eliminated toxic people. Today I seek to motivate more people into sports and a healthier life style as it has a great influence in their lives currently and in the long run. Helping people to start this journey it self, brings joy to my life.
What are some of your top achievements?
My top achievements are: •Second Place AG in Spartan Jabel Ali- UAE Super Race 2018 •First place AG in Spartan Jabel Sifah- Oman Beast Race 2018 •First place in the International Conference of Industrial Engineers Bandung- Indonesia 2018 •Qualified & First place AG in Spartan championship of the

Tell us about a dream that you would like to fulfil or make it a reality:
My dream is to reach the Olympics, motivate more people into a healthier lifestyle, leave a good impact on the environment around me and make Kuwait a better healthier sport friendly environment.
You recently received an award from TOYOTA AlSayer & CP magazine. Tell us about it.
I would like to thank TOYOTA AlSayer and CP magazine for initiating this award as it’s a big motivation for many people across Kuwait. These Kind of awards will keep us going, happy to give more and also motivate other people to start achieving in their passion. How do you manage the balance between being an Engineer and your passion for sports?
If you love what you do, you’ll never work a day in your life. I love my job; I enjoy it. At the same time, I have a passion for sports. I always say if its important to you? You’ll always find a way. I believe that life is a balance; I manage between three things in life: my job, my passion for sports and my family. I always find a way to balance these main three things and still enjoy my life. Quote”If it’s important to you, you will find a way. If not, you’ll find an excuse” My Advice to the reader; find your passion & do what you love. Trust me with time management you’ll always have time for what matters to you. Another Quote “People with Passion can make the impossible happen”
What did you learn from your biggest failure?
Easy ways are not appreciated and valued like the hard ways which has a lot of failures. Yes, I failed a lot in my life; in many aspects in different ways. But I always believe that my failures are only lessons learned. I always make sure that I learn every day. I strive to learn more and challenge my self more. Each failure taught me things I wouldn’t have learned in any other way if it wasn’t for this failure. Today I can say that I’m not afraid of failures, I search for failures to make sure I’m in the correct direction; where I can learn and achieve my goal at the same time.
What is the biggest challenge that you face and how do you overcome it?
I faced a lot of challenges in Life. Mentally, physically, socially, etc. Let me tell you about my challenge between my Engineering job and passion for sports. I have a full-time job of 9 hours + which is challenging by itself; who would think someone with this job can enjoy their life and pursue their passion? The day I got the job I said okay no more sports. But then I realized that this was the biggest wrong decision I have done in my life. I said to my self I can make time for both because I love both. This is my Challenge I wake up 4 a.m. have my breakfast and go for any cardio workout (run/walk/bike/workout) , get back home shower and off to work (9 hours+) , after that I go directly to the GYM for my normal training (any workout with weights), later on I head back home have my dinner and rest. This is on repeat except for weekends where I prioritize my family. Imagine doing this everyday; trust me its challenging I could’ve done it the easy way; but this is me, I love what I do and I love to challenge my self. I won’t say it’s a routine I face challenges everyday tbh. These challenges are my extra spices that keeps me going. Message to the reader; at any time, you think you are afraid of failure remember these two Quotes: “Don’t be afraid to fail, be afraid of not trying” “Stars cannot shine without darkness”
What are some of your other hobbies?
I love to try new things and explore more. Specially in sports; water sports, extreme sports, easy sports, etc. I run, walk, bike, hike, workout, paraglide, triathlon, swim, ski, jet surf, etc. and I’m still on going for more activities. I love to keep myself active and try different things. Note: I enjoy Being active, it’s part of my lifestyle.

Boys and Oil: Growing Up Gay in a Fractured Land
by Will Jawando
Flying Solo
The Woman in the Library The ornate reading room at the Boston Public Library is quiet, until the tranquility is shattered by a woman's terrified scream. Security guards take charge immediately, instructing everyone inside to stay put until the threat is identified and contained. While they wait for the all-clear, four strangers, who'd happened to sit at the same table, pass the time in conversation and friendships are struck. Each has his or her own reasons for being in the reading room that morning—it just happens that one is a murderer. Award-winning author Sulari Gentill delivers a sharply thrilling read with The Woman in the Library, an unexpectedly twisty literary adventure that examines the complicated nature of friendship and shows us that words can be the most treacherous weapons of all.
by Linda Holmes
Growing up as the daughter of Mexican immigrants in Chicago in the '90s, Erika Sanchez was a self-described pariah, misfit, and disappointment—a foul-mouthed, melancholic rabblerouser who painted her nails black but also loved comedy, often laughing so hard with her friends that she had to leave her school classroom. Twenty-five years later, she's now an award-winning novelist, poet, and essayist, but she's still got an irrepressible laugh, acerbic wit, and singular powers of perception about the world around her. In these essays, Sanchez writes about everything from sex to white feminism to debilitating depression, revealing an interior life rich with ideas, self-awareness, and perception. Raunchy, insightful, unapologetic, and brutally honest, Crying in the Bathroom is Sanchez at her best—a book that will make you feel that post-confessional high that comes from talking for hours with your best friend.
“I am a child of the American West, a landscape so rich and wide that my culture trembles with terror before its power.” So begins Taylor Brorby’s Boys and Oil, a haunting, bracingly honest memoir about growing up gay amidst the harshness of rural North Dakota, “a place where there is no safety in a ravaged landscape of mining and fracking.” In visceral prose, Brorby recounts his upbringing in the coalfields; his adolescent infatuation with books; and how he felt intrinsically different from other boys. Now an environmentalist, Brorby uses the destruction of large swathes of the West as a metaphor for the terror he experienced as a youth. From an assault outside a bar in an oil boom town to a furtive romance, and from his awakening as an activist to his arrest at the Dakota Access Pipeline, Boys and Oil provides a startling portrait of an America that persists despite well-intentioned legal protections.

Through her career as an international banker, Lore splits her time between two countries and two families—until the truth is revealed and one husband is arrested for murdering the other. In 2017, while trawling the internet for the latest, most sensational news reports, struggling true-crime writer Cassie Bowman encounters an article detailing that tragic final act. Cassie sees an opportunity—she’ll track Lore down and capture the full picture, the choices, the deceptions that led to disaster. But the more time she spends with Lore, the more Cassie questions the facts surrounding the murder itself. Soon, her determination to uncover the truth could threaten to derail Lore’s now quiet life—and expose the many secrets both women are hiding.
Though humans claim to rule the Earth, we are the inheritors of a dynasty that has reigned over the planet for nearly 66 million years, through fiery cataclysm and ice ages: the mammals. Our lineage includes saber-toothed tigers, woolly mammoths, armadillos the size of a car, cave bears three times the weight of a grizzly, clever scurriers that outlasted Tyrannosaurus rex, and even other types of humans, like Neanderthals. Indeed humankind and many of the beloved fellow mammals we share the planet with today--lions, whales, dogs--represent only the few survivors of a sprawling and astonishing family tree that has been pruned by time and mass extinctions. How did we get here? In his acclaimed bestseller The Rise and Fall of the Dinosaurs, American paleontologist Steve Brusatte enchanted readers with his definitive his - tory of the dinosaurs. Now, picking up the narrative in the ashes of the extinction event that doomed T-rex and its kind, Brusatte explores the remarkable story of the family of animals that inherited the Earth--mammals-- and brilliantly reveals that their story is every bit as fascinating and complex as that of the dinosaurs.

Fake It Till You Bake It by Jamie Wesley
by Lyndsie Bourgon In Tree Thieves, Lyndsie Bourgon takes us deep into the underbelly of the illegal timber market. As she traces three timber poaching cases, she introduces us to tree poachers, law enforcement, forensic wood specialists, the enigmatic residents of former logging communities, environmental activists, international timber cartels, and indigenous communities along the way. Old-growth trees are invaluable and irreplaceable for both humans and wildlife, and are the oldest living things on earth. But the morality of tree poaching is not as simple as we might think: stealing trees is a form of deeply rooted protest, and a side effect of environmental preservation and protection that doesn’t include communities that have been uprooted or marginalized when park boundaries are drawn. As Bourgon discovers, failing to include working class and rural communities in the preservation of these awe-inducing ecosystems can lead to catastrophic results. Featuring excellent investigative reporting, fascinating characters, logging history, political analysis, and cutting-edge tree science, Tree Thieves takes readers on a thrilling journey into the intrigue, crime, and incredible complexity sheltered under the forest canopy.

It was 1986, when world renowned Superstar Tom Cruise donned a pair of Ray Ban Aviators and introduced us to the phrases “Danger Zone!”, “I feel the need; The need for speed!”, and “You can be my wingman anytime”. With an 80’s pop soundtrack and a cast that included Val Kilmer, Anthony Edwards, Meg Ryan, Tim Robbins, and Tom Skerritt, this film had tremendously increased the US Navy recruitment rates by over 500%. Talk about quite the impact of a film that also grossed 176 million against a budget of just 15 million. Now over thirty six years later, Tom Cruise is back in the cockpit as Captain Pete “Maverick” Mitchell. This film has quite a number of writers with two for story and three for screenplay. Yet the team of writer’s have delivered a solid film with just the right balance of nostalgic callbacks to the first film and a multilayered storyline stacked against a stunning series of non-CGI practical stunt visuals in real jets. This film earns my “Writing a Movie RIGHT” review.
Here comes the spoilers.
A young Michael meets his adoptive brother Milo who both suffer form We wake up with our hero, Maverick as he works on his beautiful P-51 Mustang plane and then gets on his motorcycle to head in to work as a test pilot for a hypersonic scramjet under a project called “Darkstar”. When he arrives to work he is met with the team who informs him that a Rear Admiral Officer is head there to shut down the program. Maverick insists they proceed with their test flight with the ahead of schedule speed goal of Mach 10. He meets the speed goal, but instead of slowing down he pushes the plane into high hypersonic and ends up destroying it. The Rear Admiral wants to ground him for his actions, but instead sends him to North Island as a Top Gun instructor as ordered by Maverick’s friend and former rival from the first film, Admiral Tom “Iceman” Kazansky who is now the commander of the U.S. Pacific Fleet. He arrives and meets with his new superiors who immediately let it be known they do not agree with the Admiral’s decision for Maverick to train pilots. They present to him an urgent mission to bomb a uranium
enrichment plant that sits inside of deep pit between a canyon and a tall mountain. The plant is heavily fortified with surface-to-air missiles and 5th Generation fighter jets. Maverick suggest an attack with Super Hornets which will fly through the canyon and destroy the plant. They have brought the “best of the best” pilots in for this training and one happens to be the son of Maverick’s late best friend Nick “Goose” Bradshaw, Lieutenant Bradley “Rooster” Bradshaw (played solid by Miles Teller). The aviators are put to training in dogfighting immediately as Maverick knows they will potentially have a dogfight to get out of the airspace alive. It takes a bit of time, but the pilots begin to understand the parameters that Maverick has set for timing to target and speed is crucial for them to have time to get back home safely. The pilots attempt many times to navigate a simulated canyon course to practice timing and none can seem to make it on time. Maverick gets a message from Iceman and he goes to see him. When he arrives to his home Iceman’s wife informs Maverick that Iceman has throat cancer and doesn’t have long. Their sit down and conversation is perhaps the most poignant of the film. Days later Iceman passes and the Rear Admiral grounds Maverick and sets new mission parameters with more time which means the pilots have greater risk of not surviving the mission. Maverick takes an unauthorized flight top show them that the canyon can be navigated at the original speed parameters. The Rear Admiral is finally convinced and he makes Maverick the strike leader. The rest of this film is a love letter to pilots who dare to push themselves to the limits of G forces and a beautiful sendoff to a character that has been a part of cinema for over three decades. Kudos to the Navy for allowing the actors to fly in these jets and to the actors for taking on the G’s. Try to see this in IMAX or any 4D Theater as you will NOT be disappointed! There are a couple fast twists and turns closing this story out, but it goes by so fast you will be leaving the theater with the need…the need for speed! Thanks for reading Writing Movie ‘WRONGS’.

FAISAL MAREI Kuwaiti R&B singer, Faisal Marei, better known as ‘Face’, began his music journey at an early age and continues to pursue his musical passions today. As a child, Faisal remembers singing along in the car to an array of musical genres from the 60’s and 80’s with his parents. He began to gain an interest in R&B music in the 90’s when basketball became popular, and his days comprised of hanging out with his friends by the basketball courts listening to hip hop. As he entered university in Toronto, his passion for music grew, and he began meeting with musicians and other young artists to jam and exchange ideas. He created a band with a few other musicians in Toronto called ‘Meadow Parks’ and began uploading his music onto the internet through musical platforms. Right before graduation from university in 2002, Faisal signed a record deal with Alien Records in Kuwait and became a part of the well-renowned band ‘Army of One’, the first official hip hop group in the Middle East.

Members of the band eventually took on their own directions, and today, Faisal has chosen to pursue his musical career as a solo artist. During the pandemic, with more free time on his hands, Faisal reconnected with his musical creativity and began writing, producing, and collaborating with artists to create his R&B singles. Faisal’s latest release, his comeback song, ‘My World’, in collaboration with Rahaf from the band Guitara, merged Arabic and English R&B into one to create a new sound, quite unique to the music scene in Kuwait. Afterwards, Faisal worked on his first solo song ‘I Need You’ followed by his music video produced by Rashid AlNeaimi “rashidvisuals.” Later, Faisal collaborated with an underground Jamaican artist named Kozmik to create the song ‘Come Down.’ Finally, Faisal created the song ‘Diamonds,’ a track that mixes old and new school sounds and created a video directed, edited (DOP) by Fadi Attia AlMograby, also known as Fadi Films. Faisal plans to continue dropping singles every few months, and hopes to continue collaborating with artists from all over the globe, to experiment with different sounds and genres, and to continue sharing his musical talents with the world.

Huawei Watch GT 3 Pro
The most luxurious smartwatch Tech meets elegance - An everlasting masterpiece.
Haya AlObaid's Favourite. I was looking for a new smartwatch that could provide me with all the best in tech and was elegant to wear for my everyday use. I had some key features in mind, specially the design and material used. They are important factors as they epitomise style and decide wearing comfort. Other features such as the battery life and charging speeds are crucial because what use is a smartwatch without power? Moreover, the health and fitness tracking features are imperative and important as they give you timely updates about your health and physical condition. Having all this in mind, I went last week to make my purchase. After seeing many options in the market. One salesman at a store mentioned that Huawei has recently launched the HUAWEI WATCH GT 3 Pro that comes in two variants: Titanium Edition and Ceramic Edition delivering a lavish, upgraded, and more convenient user experience. When he showed me the watch, I was amazed. On top of its attractive and fashionable looks, the smartwatch also came with an up to 14-day battery life with wireless fast charging, professional health management, new workout modes, in addition to other convenient life assistant features. What more could I ask for.

The enhanced battery architecture provides the HUAWEI WATCH GT 3 Pro Titanium Edition with 14 days battery life and 7 days battery life in intense usage scenarios while the HUAWE WATCH GT 3 Pro Ceramic Edition comes with 7 days battery life in typical scenarios and 4 days battery life in heavy usage scenarios. The smartwatch supports the fast and convenient wireless fast charging. It only takes 10 minutes to charge for a full-day use (in typical scenarios). My favourite part is its Professional Health Management features. The watch supports Electrocardiogram (ECG) data collection, which can accurately provide single-lead ECG measurements, real-time analysis, sinus rhythm and atrial fibrillation detection, and premature atrial and ventricular beat reminders for users and supports arterial stiffness detection, allowing users to actively prevent the risk of vascular diseases. It also offers allround health management in heart rate monitoring, blood oxygen, sleep, respiratory health, and pressure, which helps keep tracking the changes in your body. With the HUAWEI Health App on the phone, you can synchronise real-time exercise and health monitoring data to pay close attention to your health.
The HUAWEI TruSeenTM 5.0+ does not only further improve the accuracy of heart rate monitoring, but also improves the accuracy of SpO2 monitoring: It increases the data processing capacity by four times, reducing the signal loss rate, and improves the accuracy of heart rate monitoring. The watch also offers an upgraded workout monitoring feature, providing over 100 workout modes, aside from the new freediving mode, it also includes other professional workout modes like golf driving range mode, running, walking, mountain climbing, hiking, cross-country running, cycling, open water swimming, triathlon, skiing, snowboarding, cross-country skiing, free training, elliptical machine and rowing machine.
I kept the best for the last. My HUAWEI WATCH GT 3 Pro supports Bluetooth calls. In addition, you can receive read and reply to SMS messages right form your wrist thanks to the convenient message notifications. With Petal Maps on-board, I can also navigate my way around right form my wrist. The HUAWEI WATCH GT 3 Pro also supports watch faces to bring a more personalised experience. There are also over ten thousand of watch faces themes for download. Over all, I am so excited and happy with my HUAWEI WATCH GT 3 Pro and can’t think of removing it! www.cpmagazine.net

ARIES
LEO
You’ll feel the love this month, dear Aries, as Venus, the planet of romance and money, makes her way into your sign on May 2. These vibes are perfect for embracing the sweeter side of life, though there will certainly be a passionate and exciting energy to go along with this planetary placement. While matters of the heart will be on your mind, make sure you’re using this cosmic climate as an excuse to prioritize your needs while indulging in plenty of self-care. The universe wants you to feel adored and pampered, not only by the people who surround you but by yourself as well. Luck will be on your side beginning when auspicious Jupiter enters Aries on the tenth. Use this opportunity to check in with your personal goals, because you’re sure to see growth wherever you put your energy over the next several months. For this reason, it’s important that you gravitate only toward positive people, experiences, and behaviors that can help elevate you to new heights. Mars, your ruling planet, enters your sign on the evening of May 24, bringing a flurry of activity your way over the next several weeks. You should feel inspired, motivated, and passionate about your ambitions, making it an ideal time to start new projects and pursue your dreams relentlessly.
(April 20 - May 20)
TAURUS This will be an exciting month for you, dear Taurus, because the sun makes its way through your sign and brings attention and new activity your way. May 5 will feel particularly thrilling thanks to a cosmic alliance between the sun and revolutionary Uranus, which is bound to shake things up in your personal life. These vibes are ideal for going off-script, so don’t feel guilty if you opt for adventure over responsibility, if only for a day. The Scorpio full moon on the fifteenth brings intensity to your relationships, helping you connect with your partner or bestie in profound ways. However, these vibes could also put you in a private or secretive mood, causing you to pull away from your nearest and dearest. If you find yourself walking a solitary path during this lunar event, make sure you’re using the time to embrace self-love. Venus, your ruling planet, is cozied up to healing asteroid Chiron in the sector of your chart that rules the subconscious. This can act as a cosmic salve for whatever it is that’s ailing you internally. You’ll feel a shift when the sun enters Gemini on May 20, activating the sector of your chart that governs finances, your sense of security, and the material realms.
(May 21 - June 20)
GEMINI This month could be an intriguing one for you, dear Gemini, because the Aries sun shines a light in the sector of your chart that governs secrets, revealing information that was once hidden. Even the subtlest of clues could crack open a mystery you’ve been struggling with, so be sure to pull at any threads that pique your interest or intuition. These sentiments could feel particularly pronounced when the sun cozies up to unpredictable Uranus on May 5. It could lead to moments of clarity that strike like lightning. Mercury, your ruling planet, enters its retrograde motion while traveling through your sign on the tenth, which is sure to leave you feeling a touch out of sorts. Watch out for low energy levels, brain fog, miscommunication, errors, and clumsiness now as the universe plagues you with some cosmic funk. Luckily, this energy will also give you full permission to reflect, providing an opportunity to tie up any loose ends in your personal life.
(June 21 - July 22)
CANCER You and your friends can bring stability to one another this month, sweet Crab, because the Taurus sun activates the sector of your chart that governs community. This cosmic climate is perfect for laying down foundations for new relationships while helping you feel secure in the process. These sentiments receive a significant boost when the sun cozies up to revolutionary Uranus on May 5, creating a breakthrough in any new connections you’ve had trouble growing. While it’s certainly important that you invest time and energy in your friendships right now, you’ll also want to keep one eye on your career as Jupiter enters Aries on the tenth. This planetary placement is set to bring prosperity and luck to your solar tenth house, making it important that you invest your energy in the professional path of your dreams. If you’re unhappy in your current situation, now would be the time to shift your work in a new direction. You might also want to touch base with the other side, whispering your hopes to the wind, because the universe will look for ways to help you achieve such goals.

JUNE 2022
You’ll have cosmic support to build something solid in your professional life, dear Leo, because the Taurus sun activates your solar tenth house. This energy brings a lucrative and stabilizing energy to your career, helping you make steady headway toward your goals. However, this energy tends to move at a slower speed, so it will be important that you remain patient with each step. This is also a great time to work a little money magick around your income, so don’t hold back if you feel drawn to light a candle and make a wish. The vibe shifts significantly as Gemini season emerges on May 20, amplifying your position within your communities. Use this energy to build up your connections, but don’t be afraid to share the wealth by linking any friends or colleagues you believe might benefit from the introduction. You might also feel inspired to invest in your neighborhood, choosing to support small businesses rather than give your hard-earned dollars to faceless megacorporations. Meanwhile, action planet Mars enters fiery Aries on the twenty-fourth, providing you with the motivation needed to implement any major changes you’ve been building up to.
(August 23 - September)
VIRGO You can be a master manifester this month, dear Virgo, because the Taurus sun shines brightly in the sector of your chart that governs spirituality. These vibes can create a portal-like connection between you and the other side as the universe looks for ways to guide and support you. However, you’ll need to back up your dreams with any work required to achieve them. While the powers that be might send you the opportunities you ask for, you won’t see any actual payoff unless you can keep up with the responsibilities that inevitably come with every blessing. Unfortunately, this month won’t be without its tests, because your ruler Mercury heads retrograde on May 10. This planetary backspin could create issues in your professional life, plaguing your career path with new obstacles. Luckily, this energy can also present you with an opportunity to break patterns and learn from past mistakes, giving you a chance to overcome such hurdles. Survive this cosmic climate by staying centered, monitoring your stress levels, going early to the office, and proofreading every communication before sending it.
(September 23 - October)
LIBRA This month could put you in a transactional headspace, sweet Libra, because the Taurus sun activates your solar eighth house. This cosmic climate won’t have you in the mood to mince words or play games, bringing out an uncharacteristic directness that could throw your loved ones and colleagues for a loop. Don’t feel guilty about stepping into your personal power, negotiating, or advocating for yourself, especially if you feel as though others haven’t been taking you seriously of late. Just try not to let a desire to cut to the chase take away from your ability to engage in pleasantries, since not everyone will be in the same place as you. Your heart will have plenty of room for romance and connection beginning when Jupiter enters Aries and the sector of your chart that governs love on May 10. Whether you’re dating or in a stable partnership, this planetary placement brings some sparkle to your aura, helping to breathe new life into your connections. These vibes can also strengthen any chemistry that exists between you and that special someone, and your charm and charisma can reach new heights. However, you should be cautious about rushing into a commitment just because someone sweeps you off your feet, no matter how tempting it might be. A shift occurs as the sun makes its way into Gemini and the sector of your chart that governs spirituality on the twentieth.
(October 23 - November)
SCORPIO Get ready for a month full of love, luxury, and romance, dear Scorpio, because the Taurus sun activates the sector of your chart that governs matters of the heart. While this energy should bring more stability to your relationships, that doesn’t mean there won’t be a good dose of excitement to go along with it. Shocking gestures or declarations of love could find you when the sun cozies up to unpredictable Uranus while aspecting your passionate ruler Mars on May 5. Whether you’re in a committed relationship or looking for a hookup, you can bet that these steamy vibes will bring plenty of excitement to your day. Creative inspiration will find you when Mars forms a cosmic alliance to dreamy Neptune on the seventeenth. Lean into your artistic side even if you don’t consider yourself a master crafter. Playing in your imagination is sure to bring you healing while giving your confidence a little boost. These vibes are also perfect for taking action toward your dreams because your efforts can transform fantasy into reality. Just remember to stay grounded and clearheaded in the process. Emotional investment in any given situation could cloud your judgment if you’re not careful.
(November 22 - December)
SAGITTARIUS Though you’re known for your exuberance, sense of adventure, and fierceness, dear Sagittarius, you might want to slow things down this month. When the sun shines brightly in Taurus and your solar sixth house, the universe is pushing you to bring solid foundations to your daily routines, especially if you’ve been burning the candle at both ends. Use this cosmic climate as an opportunity to recommit to a more consistent schedule, which is sure to pay off in a boost to your efficiency, physical stamina, and mental well-being. You’ll feel invigorated by a renewed belief in yourself starting when your ruler Jupiter moves into fiery Aries on May 10. This planetary placement can take your image and artistic genius to new heights over the next several months, helping you find and use your voice while inspiring others to do the same. Just try not to abandon your grace in the process, and be aware of whether or not you’re maintaining a healthy ego.
(December 22 - January 19)
CAPRICORN It’s okay to build yourself up right now, dear Capricorn, because the Taurus moon activates your solar fifth house, asking your ego to come out and play. While you’ll certainly gain a new appreciation for your capabilities and talents, these vibes also encourage you to nurture your existing interests. Take some time to reconnect with a creative outlet right now, because the universe is blessing you with inspiration and a desire to express yourself. Embracing your artistic side can offer healing and personal transformation, especially when the sun forms a supportive connection to Pluto, currently camped out in your sign, on May 19. While you’ll certainly be in a more free-spirited mood throughout Taurus season, you’ll notice a shift in your priorities when the sun enters Gemini on the twentieth. This solar placement can motivate you to achieve greatness, pushing you to bring steady organization to your daily routines. These vibes are also ideal for mapping out your path forward so you can break down your big picture into small, manageable steps. Just try not to put too much pressure on yourself, and don’t be afraid to ask for help when you need it.
(January 20 - February 18)
AQUARIUS Your focus will be on domestic affairs this month, dear Aquarius, because the Taurus sun shines a light on your solar fourth house. These vibes are perfect for embracing luxury from the comfort of your own home, which could inspire more evenings in and perhaps a proper staycation. However, you might also feel drawn to freshening up your interior aesthetic, causing you to reach for a bucket of paint and some brushes. You’ll want to make sure to complete such projects before Mercury enters its retrograde on May 10, or you could end up regretting your decisions. Expansive Jupiter enters Aries and your sector of communication on the tenth, helping your voice grow in the coming months. For this reason, it will be particularly important that you avoid lies, gossip, or mean-spirited comments. Your words could reach further than you imagine. Maintaining a positive attitude can help you make the most of this cosmic climate, though you should also take some time out to reconnect with your spiritual or philosophical studies. You’ll notice a shift when the sun makes its way into chatty Gemini on May 20, putting you in a more social mood.
(February 19 - March 20)
PISCES You’ll learn more easily through hands-on experiences this month, dear Pisces, because the Taurus sun brings a rush of activity to the sector of your chart that governs learning, communication, and curiosity. These vibes can inspire you to get your hands dirty when it comes to expanding your knowledge, especially if you have a mentor to help illuminate any new mental journeys you choose to go on. However, this energy moves at its own pace, so you’ll want to make sure to be patient with your progress. Jupiter, the planet of luck and expansion, moves into Aries on May 10, helping you grow your wealth over the next several months. An increase to your prosperity is on the horizon, though you’ll need to be willing to take a few chances and say yes to opportunities. Be on the lookout for new work, career paths, or investments during this time, because the financial decisions you make right now are likely to pay off in big ways down the line. Mercury will be in the midst of its retrograde journey, so make sure you fully understand the terms of any new agreements you sign.
