Spectrum AquaBlend Pencils are such a versatile medium, they are perfect for creating soft natural colour. Each shade contains artist’s grade pigment and is fully water-soluble allowing you to blend with ease, to create an artist’s style watercolour effect. You can either colour directly onto your stamped image and then use a damp paintbrush to blend, or you can do as I have done here, which is to create a palette of colours by scribbling swatches of colour onto

Sheena Stamping card then pick up the colour with a damp paintbrush. Experiment and see which style suits you best. Over the next few pages, I’ve shown you how to create two different looks with your stamp set – rich autumnal hues and lush summery greens, which could easily be adapted to suit Christmas cards too. Have a go at recreating these looks first, to get used to the technique, then get creative with your own great ideas!

Autumn blessings

HOW TO MAKE Fold an A4 sheet of Sheena Stamping Card in half to make an A5 tent-fold card base. Print designer paper from the Autumn Morning collection on your free CD onto Printable Light Card. Cut a piece to fit the front of your card base, then mat onto black card and stick to the card front using All-Purpose glue. Cut a 19x13.5cm (7½x5¼in) piece of Sheena Stamping Card and use your free leaf dies to die-cut a pattern from the top left and bottom right corners of the card, as shown in the step by step. Colour the edges by sponging on Distress Inks in Vintage Photo, Fired Brick and Wild Honey. Stick to your card front using 3D glue gel. Cut a 21x3cm (8½x1¼in) piece of Sheena Stamping Card and emboss using your free Vine Leaves embossing folder. Ink using Vintage Photo, Fired Brick and Wild Honey Distress Inks and mat onto black card. Secure to your card base with All-Purpose glue. Using your free die set, die-cut five of the largest leaf shape from Sheena Stamping Card, then using the coordinating stamp from your free stamp set, stamp onto each one using black archival ink. Use Spectrum AquaBlend pencils to create a palette by scribbling a block of colour onto Sheena Stamping Card and working from this. We used Red Berry, Ruby (Primaries set),

Carrot (Florals Set) and Hickory (Naturals Set). Next, use a damp paintbrush to pick up the colour and lightly paint your leaves. Take your time getting the colour changes right for the best results. Once the colour is completely dry, spritz the back of the leaves very lightly with water and shape them into a realistic, slightly curved look.

Stamp the sentiment from your free stamp set onto Sheena Stamping Card using black archival ink. Die-cut into a circle and ink the edges using Vintage Photo, Fired Brick and Wild Honey Distress Inks. Mat onto a circle die-cut from black cardstock, sticking slightly off-centre. Add a single gem. Assemble your card using 3D glue gel.

Thanks so much HOW TO MAKE Create a 15x15cm (6x6in) easel card base using white Sheena Stamping Card. Cover with chocolate brown Centura Pearl Card. Print two pieces of the Autumn colours leaf paper and one of the Autumn colours dots paper from the Autumn Morning collection on your free CD onto Printable Light Card. Cut two squares of the leaf design and one of the dots design measuring slightly smaller than 15x15cm (6x6in) square. Stick one leaf square to the inside of your card base. Stick the other leaf square on top of the dots square at an angle, then trim off the overlap. Die-cut a circle aperture from the centre. Cut a 15x15cm (6x6in) square of chocolate brown Centura Pearl card and die-cut a smaller

circle aperture from the centre (make sure you keep the die-cut, you'll need it later). Stick the leaf panel on top to make your easel topper. Stick the brown circle die-cut inside your card using 3D Glue Gel to make an easel stopper. Die-cut a smaller circle of leaf paper and stick it in the centre. Draw faux stitching around this panel and your topper, using a black fineliner, as shown. Cut two 7x15cm (3x6in) strips of chocolate brown Centura Pearl Card and score at 1cm (½in) intervals to make concertina strips. Stick these to the back of the topper – one each side – with Red Liner Tape. Set aside. Cut another 15x15cm (6x6in) square of brown Centura Pearl Card. Die-cut a circle of dots card and stick in the centre. Die-cut a circle of white card and ink with Distress Inks. Stamp with a sentiment from your free stamp

set using Vintage Photo Distress Ink. Stick to the dotty circle using 3D glue gel. Set aside. Take your free leaf dies and die-cut a selection of leaves from Sheena Stamping Card. Stamp each leaf with the corresponding stamp using the Potting Shed archival ink pad. Colour using Spectrum AquaBlend pencils in: Cherrywood, Pineapple, Papaya, Strawberry and Carrot. Spray each leaf with Spray & Sparkle Iridescent Glitter Varnish. Once dry, shape then stick the leaves to the topper, sentiment panel and easel stopper, as shown, using 3D glue gel. Now stick your topper to the sentiment panel using the concertina tabs. This allows your topper to fold flat for posting, but pop up to give a lovely 3D effect. Stick the topper to the front flap of the easel base card. Add gems and a ribbon bow, to finish.

Falling leaves HOW TO MAKE Cut two 6½x6in pieces of black cardstock. Using your scoreboard turned to the inches side, score at ½in and 3½in along the long edge. Turn the card and score at 1½in. Hold the card so that the taller panels are at the top and cut away the small rectangle on the bottom left. Also cut the centre score line up to the 1½in embossed line. Print the wood panel design from the Autumn Morning collection on your free CD onto Printable Light Card. Cut a 6x4in piece of card, cover the back with Stick-It adhesive and attach it securely to the two adjacent 3x4in scored panels on one of the pieces of black card. Repeat this process with the second piece of black card.

Take one of the pieces of card, and using the central score line as a guide, die-cut two apertures in the wood panel sections either side of the central line using the Die’sire Create-A-Card Vine Leaves die (leave the bottom of each panel intact, as shown). Print the falling leaves design from the Autumn Morning collection on your free CD onto printable vellum. Cut a piece a little bit smaller than 6x4½in. Stick this behind the diecut panel using Collall All-Purpose glue. Make sure you rub away any excess glue. Trim down the connecting tab on the panel you haven’t die-cut, and add a strip of Red Liner Tape to connect the two panels together. Next, use Red Liner Tape to attach the remaining tab to create a box shape. Hold these base flaps in place securely using Collall All-Purpose glue. To make the lid: cut a 4⅛x4⅛in square of black card. Score at ½in along all four sides. Cut a triangular notch from each of the four small squares formed in each corner to form

tabs. Fold and burnish the score lines. Cover the top and sides of the lids with woodgrain printed card then glue the lid together using Collall Tacky glue. Use the Sara Signature English Country Garden flower dies to die-cut a selection of flowers from two orange shades of Core’dinations cardstock. Lightly ink the edges of the petals using black ink. Using an embossing tool and a foam mat, shape the smaller flowers. Coil up the larger flowers and glue to the lid using hot melt glue. Hand cut some of the printed vellum leaves (that you printed in step 4). Ink the edges of the leaves in black and shape using an embossing tool and craft mat. Attach the leaves and flowers to the top of the luminary using hot melt glue, as shown. For a great finishing touch add gems to the centres of the small flowers. Now all that’s left to do is to pop a battery-operated tea light into your luminary and enjoy the warm autumn glow.

Leaping reindeer

HOW TO MAKE Using an A4 sheet of Kraft card and The Ultimate Pro, score along the tri-fold A4 line to make a tri-fold card base. Next, mark the half-fold A4 and gatefold A5 lines along the top edge and score a diagonal line between each mark. Die-cut the reindeer and place on the score line of the first panel, adding the flourishes on both sides. Die-cut, emboss, and before removing the die, rub through with Vintage Photo Distress Ink for a darker finish. Do the same with the die on the last (or smallest) panel, again rubbing though with Vintage Photo Distress Ink for detail. Print patterned paper from the Timeless Collection on your free CD onto Printable Light Card. Cut pieces to fit the reindeer panels on your card base and ink the edges with Vintage Photo Distress Ink. Die-cut three large and two small poinsettia flowers, plus two leaves from cream linen card

and ink the edges with Vintage Photo Distress Ink. Layer the large flowers together and attach a large gold gem in the flower centre. Stick to the largest panel on your card base. Stamp a sentiment with Vintage Photo Distress Ink onto printed card, trim and layer onto Kraft card, inking the edges as you go. Layer the leaves and the smallest poinsettia flowers onto the corner using 3D glue gel to secure in place. Stick to the smallest panel on your card front to finish.
