the Club has been one of the busiest and most exciting yet! As the staff at the Club strives to continuously improve your experiences at CRCC, we are overjoyed by the recent feedback from Members and guests. Following the Member-Guest golf and tennis tournaments we heard comments such as: “This is by far the best Member-Guest event I’ve played in. What you guys do here is remarkable.” and "Nothing beats CRCC Member-Guest. There is nowhere else you can go and get anything comparable – from the phenomenal greens and delicious food, to the great atmosphere and amazing customer service levels – you just can’t get this anywhere else.” We thank everyone for their participation and support of the Club throughout this busy season and we look forward to seeing you at the many upcoming events such as the Old Fashioned Clam Bake and Princess Tea, MGA & WGA events and Memorial Day Mixed Doubles. In an effort to continuously improve our offerings, CRCC Summer Camps have been expanded and revised based on participant

feedback. Be sure to keep your children busy over the summer months by signing them up for our golf, tennis, swim and combo camps! Pick up the new camp brochure at the Club or download it from the website and be sure to sign up early due to popular demand. As many of you already read via e-mail, the Club is now on a golf membership wait list. Those waiting for a golf membership to become available must be a social or tennis Member of the Club. If you have any questions about upgrading your membership to a golf category or know of someone interested in joining the Club, please let us know. S AV E

How our Weather affects Green Speeds JAY

BORING

GOLF COURSE SUPERINTENDENT

AS ONE MIGHT IMAGINE,

the condition of a green is highly dependent on the weather. The biggest factor in green conditions is the amount of sunlight to which the grass is exposed. The grass plant is able to function at its highest capacity when it receives a lot of sunlight. Without enough sunlight, the plant cannot produce energy and is forced to use its reserve that is stored in its root system. There is only so much energy that can be stored in the root system and, when that energy reserve is depleted, the plant dies. Therefore, long periods without sunlight are extremely detrimental to a green’s health. In order to help the

2

CORAL RIDGE COUNTRY CLUB

grass plant thrive during those times, we alter maintenance practices. The lower the grass height, the more sun the plant needs to survive, so we are forced to raise the height of the cut on the greens during cloudy periods. As you know, the greens mowing height directly affects green speeds: the higher the grass, the slower the speed and vice-versa. To increase green speeds when we are forced to keep the greens at a higher cut, we roll the greens more. With all of this being said, I hope you can understand why the green speeds can vary from week to week and sometimes even day to day. We are always closely monitoring the health and speed of the greens so that we can maintain a healthy course while providing you with the best playing conditions possible.

C LU B EV E N T R E S E RVAT I O N P O L I C Y Special club events, wine dinners, Saturday night seafood buffets and holiday dining are popular events that sell out and require the purchase of special food and beverage products, equipment, entertainment, etc. Last minute un-replaced cancellations (including changes to the party number) are unfair to those Members who are turned away due to full capacity and cause the Club to incur unnecessary expenses if the reservation is not replaced. As a result, the Club must exercise a firm enforcement of the special event and holiday dining policy. • At the time of making your reservation we will charge your account 100% of the event price. • Please let us know if you have other Members dining with you, so we may contact them. • You may cancel 7 days prior to event, without being charged. • If you cancel less than 7 days prior to the event, you will have to pay 100% of the event price. Note: Should there be a wait list and we are able to fill your reservation less than 6 days prior to the event, your account will be credited in full.
