CRCC

It’s a People Place

AS A COUNTRY CLUB, we offer an exceptional golfing experience, premium tennis courts,a heated pool and a welcoming Clubhouse as a gathering place.

But more than the sports amenities and dining opportunities available,Members comment on how much they enjoy the genuine friendships and unpretentious social atmosphere at Coral Ridge.

We are committed to providing a casual place and time for forging long-lasting relationships.Whether it is golfevents, tennis socials, pool parties, kids and family activities or holiday events,it’s the social interactions that

are the thread that connects the Club.Family friendships have spanned generations and the legacy grows as the grandchildren ofmany who have grown up at the Club are now Members.

But it is not just the Members who join and decide this is the place to be.Many ofour staffreach celebrated milestones ofemployment, including our management team.In fact, more than halfofthe team have been at the Club for over 10 years.

It is that familiarity that gives the club, Members and staff, the comfort level of feeling like this truly is a H.O.M.E.away from home, for all.

ALLYEAR ROUND...

FROM THE CRCC Kitchen, with love...

GOOGLE REVIEW: “A top notch club with a kitchen anyone would envy. The sous chef is Italian but not spaghetti and meatballs. We are talking New York has nothing on this guy in creative dishes beyond anything expected in a club. The exec chef is German, so it is a well-run organization with a creative flare. The best of Europe in South Florida.” We couldn’t agree more!

From CHEF UDO MUELLER ,who grew up in the Black Forest area ofGermany and loves serving up innovative cuisine, but he also appreciates classic comfort food. This is a great one for fall and cozy dinners at home.

Braised Beef Short Ribs

5 pounds beefshort rib,bone in

1 cup onion,chopped

1/2 cup carrot,chopped

1/2 cup celery,chopped

4 garlic cloves,minced

2 Tbsp tomato paste

1 1/2 cup red wine

1 sprig rosemary

3 cups beefbroth flour

Serves 4

Preheat oven to 300 F

Season ribs with salt and pepper, flower dust and arrange bone-side up in roasting pan and sear ribs until they are browned,Transfer ribs to paper towel-lined plate.Cook onion, carrot, and celery until lightly browned, about 5 minutes.Add garlic and tomato paste and cook another minute. Lightly flower dust the vegetables, add broth, wine, rosemary, and ribs to pot and bring to simmer.

Cover pot and transfer to oven.Cook until sauce is slightly thickened and ribs are completely tender, about 2 1/2 hours.Remove the ribs and set aside.Strain and skim sauce.Enjoy with homemade mashed potatoes and fresh vegetables!

For CHEF VITO GRISETA ,there isn’t any food he likes to prepare better than Italian cuisine,as a nod to his family upbringing in Chicago! And soups are just one ofhis favorites.

Ball Machine Practice

If you want to get the most out of your time on the ball machine here are a few tips when you are using the machine by yourself:

Use only one ball hopper of balls in the machine, not two. Reason being, after hitting approximately 70 tennis balls you need a break!

Adjust the speed to what you are accustomed to when playing.

Practice by how you play. If you play mostly singles, have the machine keep the balls in the center of the court. If you play mostly doubles have the machine, send the balls to one side or the other.

After your first hopper to warm up, have the machine give you a

variety of shots similar to when you are playing. For instance: a deep groundstroke, a short ball to approach the net, and then a volley to end the point. Note: Set the machine to give you time to get back to the baseline to start again.

The machine will give you a great workout but, more so, it can help you improve your technique and movement.

If you have never used the ball machine, call the Tennis Shop and ask for a free trial and mention that you would need a staff member to help you on your first day.

Mark Taylor hits 32!

IF YOU PLAY TENNIS AT THE CLUB or have had children who attended tennis camps or clinics, you know our mild mannered and always encouraging, veteran tennis instructor,Coach Mark.Mark Taylor is a native ofFlorida, was born and raised in Fort Lauderdale, graduating from St.Coleman’s,Cardinal Gibbons and Broward College.Coral Ridge has been Mark’s home court and he has been a great asset to Members as well as the tennis department.

Will Hoag,Director ofTennis commented, “I hired Mark Taylor when he was 14 years old to work as a tennis court and pro shop attendant. He worked until he left for college. After college he came back, but this time to become a certified USPTA teaching professional.Mark has been teaching lessons and helping with programs for both our junior and adult Members since his return. Mark has a great love for Coral Ridge Country Club and its’Members and it shows every day that he comes to work.Coral Ridge is very fortunate to have an employee like Mark Taylor.”

Mark’s goal at the Club? To exceed the expectations ofhis students by helping them improve their tennis skills and create a level ofexcitement on the tennis court.

We extend a HEARTY congratulations to Mark for his many years of‘serving’at the Club!
