Change is Here to Stay
OVER THE PAST FEW YEARS , we have all gotten more comfortable with change and grown more flexible.
Communication and technology changes are taking place here at the Club and we are excited about the improvements. As we’ve expanded our app, website and email messaging, our Club Life newsletter is no longer the most-valued information hub,but still a key component Members enjoy.By publishing two issues annually, all our seasonal events, clinics and programs are listed in this issue and the next issue will feature a recap ofthe season with more photos, tournament results and off-season events. We have a new Wine Lovers opt in email group
because, who wouldn’t want to save on wine?
Golfers will notice big changes this year as we are rolling out a new tee time booking platform that offers a better user experience, a color-coded system and easier than ever guest registration. In addition,Members will be able to easily register online for ALL tournaments, weekly events and clinics in one location.
Even our entrance is now a classic white, with new sidewalks! What has not changed? Our goal to give every Member and guest that enter our doors a warm welcome, outstanding service and memorable experiences that exceed expectations. Our motto “Welcome H.O.M.E.”does not change!
Sharing our turf
Our short game area now has two chipping/pitching stations with artificial turf. Two people can practice comfortably and help reduce some ofthe wear and tear on the grass.Enjoy!
Walk the walk
New sidewalks along Bayview Drive will aid any local resident Members who choose to save on gas and get some extra steps! Walk on in!

From the CRCC Kitchen, with love...
Both of our chefs hail from different parts of the world and bring their love of cooking to the CRCC menus all year-round. Here are a couple of favorites they LOVE to share with Members.
CHEF UDO MUELLER ,who grew up in the Black Forest area ofGermany, frequently serves up a flatbread that most consider a “pizza.” Flammkuchen actually originates from the southwest region of Germany that borders France, not far from where Udo grew up.Easy to make (especially ifyou use a premade pizza crust) and so delicious!
Flammkuchen
Alsatian Bacon and Onion Tart
1 16 oz pizza dough
2 cup crème fraiche
2 - 3 tablespoon garlic,chopped
1 cup onion,very thinly sliced 12 strips bacon,chopped 4 tablespoon gruyere cheese,grated parsley,chopped
Place pizza stone in oven and preheat to 500˚F.
Mix the garlic into the crème fraiche.Cut pizza dough into 4 quarters and roll out.Spread the crème fraiche mix heavily onto the dough. Spread the bacon and onions evenly over it and finish with the cheese.Put in the preheated oven for 10-12 minutes,or until crust is golden brown. Take out, sprinkle with the parsley, and serve.
Makes 4 personal size servings.
CHEF VITO GRISETA grew up in Chicago in a family that LOVED to cook. His father was a cheffrom Bari,Italy and he spent lots oftime at his Uncle Vito’s pizzeria. This pasta, orecchiette (pronounced o-rek-kyet-teh), named for the shape which resembles little ears is a favorite of Vito’s.Hearty, packed with flavor and pretty healthy, too!
Orecchiette with Broccoli Rabe & Sausage
4 tablespoons extra virgin oil
6 garlic cloves,sliced 1/2 teaspoon chili flakes
1 pound Italian sausage,casings removed
2 tablespoons salt
2 pounds (or 4 bunches) broccoli rabe,2-3 inches ofstems removed and reserved
1 pound orecchiette pasta
1 cup grated pecorino romano cheese
1/2 cup butter
Bring 6 quarts salted water to boil. Meanwhile,in a large skillet add Italian sausage and cook until brown.Drain fat, remove sausage and set aside
Drop broccoli rabe and salt into boiling water. Blanch for 6 minutes or just until tender. Remove but do not drain water! Place in bowl ofice water. When cool, remove and rough chop into small pieces.
Place broccoli rabe stems into boiling water and cook until soft. Remove but again do not drain water! Place in bowl ofice water. When cool, place stems in blender with 1/4 cup pecorino romano, pinch ofred pepper flakes and 1/2 tablespoon chopped garlic.Puree adding a stream ofextra virgin olive oil until smooth and creamy.
Heat olive oil in same large skillet that sausage was cooked in over medium-low flame.Add garlic and cook till golden (about 30 seconds). Add chili flakes and chopped Broccoli Rabe. Sauté for 5 minutes.
Drop pasta in same water that broccoli rabe was cooked in and cook until al dente,(about 9 minutes).Reserve 1 cup ofcooking water, then drain pasta.
Return pasta to pot and add garlic, olive oil and Broccoli Rabe mixture, halfofthe pecorino romano and Italian sausage.Stir in butter, salt and pepper to taste,a little ofthe reserved pasta water liquid and a few good spoonsful ofthe broccoli rabe “pesto”.
Transfer to serving bowl and sprinkle with remaining pecorino romano.Serve with a good crusty Italian Bread and BIG glass ofRed Wine! Buon Appetito!

Nice Fountain!
Actually, the giant spout at the pool is a water cannon which can lower the temperature ofthe water from 2 to 4 degrees.Lap swimmers,in particular, appreciate this new feature during the hot summer months.
The Art of the Shine
In the day ofincreasing rubber-soled,casual men’s footwear, one could almost forget about the comfort and molding ofquality leather shoes. And the almost forgotten, shining ofshoes. Not so at Coral Ridge!
Plenty ofshoe-loving men and women appreciate clean shoes and a good polish, whether it is a leather dress shoe or their favorite golfshoes. Our staffin the Men’s Locker Room have recently been tutored by Todd Dufek,President ofthe Locker Room Managers Association and past Shoe Steward at the Arizona Biltmore Club in Phoenix. He has extensive knowledge regarding shoe care and repair and has authored books and articles on operating a shoe room at country clubs and resorts.
On hand, left to right in bottom photo, were Tim Sunga,Johnathan Augustin,Fabrice Joseph,Pawel Szemplinski,Kervin Chevelon, and Bruno Boujoly. They spent two days with Todd having hands-on training to learn the cleaning, applying ofpolishes and buffing techniques to create that shine that not only protects your shoes, but also says, you are a “sharp-dressed man.”
Shoe room attendant arrives daily at 6:30 am and is there until 7 pm,Tuesday -Sunday and in-season all seven days coinciding with the golfcourse being open.Shoes can be dropped offeither at the Men's or Ladies' locker room with Member name and number. Complimentary.

PROGRAMS&CLINICSServe&Return
The two most important shots in the game
IT’S AMAZING HOW LITTLE players practice their serves and return ofserve.Think about it, you really don’t have to hit a backhand but every other game, however you must hit either a serve (singles) or return ofserve in every game. So consider the following tips:
Serve
First Serves | Focus on placement, not necessarily power. Use this serve to exploit your opponent’s weakness or to open up the court.
Second Serves | Focus on depth. The second serve is the most attackable shot in the game.
When down two points in the game,or after a double fault, hit your second serve first.Your opponent won’t be expecting this and it takes pressure offyou.
50 YEARS
Congratulations
Will Hoag!
Since 1972,Will Hoag, our Director of Tennis, has been a valued and highly regarded member ofthe Coral Ridge staff.
Anyone who knows Will, knows he is a talented teacher and coach,a master of the courts and one ofthe wittiest guys you'll ever meet! 2022 has been his 50th amazing year with us.
Return of Serve
Singles | Hit first serve returns deep through the middle ofthe court. This takes away the server’s angle.Second serves, attack! Hit a drop shot, drive deep to the opponent’s weak side,or hit deep and come to the net.You can and should pre-plan your second serve strategy.
Doubles | Keep first serve returns away from the net player either by deep diagonal groundstrokes or lobs.Only go down the line when ahead in the game.
When playing against a “net rusher” make your return land near the service line. This will cause the server to hit up making the first volley less effective.
Second Serve Returns | Attack, when possible, approach the net.You can also throw in a drop shot from time to time.Again, you can and should pre-plan this shot.Never give your opponents a “free ride”especially ifthey have a weak serve.

Welcome Back!
WE’RE EXCITED TO HAVE YOU BACK at the Club! Golfoperations have made some reservation changes we think Members will appreciate. We are rolling out a new booking system with an even better and easier display for making starting times and moved ALL our Men’s,Women’s and Junior Event registrations online.Members can look forward to a much more streamlined golfexperience this season.
This Club Life issue is jam packed with all our season highlights, but our Thursday GolfNews emails will continue to cover the details.
We hope to see you participating in club events, taking lessons, attending clinics,or teeing it up with the instructional stafffor Play with the Pro.
To be the best player and enjoy the game the most,we kindly ask you review our Top 4 Etiquette Tips:
1Check in and be on time!
All players should check in at the Golf Shop and groups should provide changes prior to going to the first tee.Report to the starter 5 minutes in advance.
2Replace Divots and Repair Ball Marks on Greens
Take the extra minute to replace your divot correctly and repair those ball marks on the green. It shows you care about your course and the golfers behind you.
3Maintain the bunkers
Enter and exit at the lowest point and rake your footprints evenly before leaving. Tap your shoes when exiting to keep the sand in the bunkers.
4Maintain the pace of play
Golfers should expect 3 hrs.40 mins per round. No one wants to wait, including the players behind you!
Get Fit with Track Man
Ifyou want to have your best playing season yet, schedule a club fitting with our professional staff.Properly fitted irons need to address the following areas:proper length, lie angle, grip size, shaft flex, shaft material, weight, model ofclub, etc. We use the latest in fitting technology including Track Man.This superior system allows us to measure your club head speed, ball speed, ball spin, carry distance, club path, angle ofattack, etc.By using this technology,we can get you dialed in with the best equipment that fits YOU!

Special club events, wine dinners and holiday dinners are popular events that sell out and require the purchase ofspecial food and beverage products, equipment, entertainment, etc.Last minute un-replaced cancellations (including changes to the party number) are unfair to those Members who are turned away due to full capacity and cause the Club to incur unnecessary expenses ifthe reservation is not replaced.
As a result, the Club must exercise a firm enforcement ofthe special event and holiday dining policy.
•Please let us know ifyou have other Members dining with you so that we can charge all accounts accordingly.
•You may cancel 7 days prior to the event, without being charged.
•Ifyou cancel less than 7 days prior to the event you will be charged 100% of the event price.
NOTE: Note: Should there be a wait list and we are able to fill your reservation less than 6 days prior to the event, your account will be credited in full.
