Clean Goole Campaign Group organises clean-up project in memory of Captain Tom Back in September 2020 Graham Toft and Rebecca Watkins set up the Clean Goole Campaign Group after seeing lots of criticism about litter in the area The group has recently organised a clear-up project named Captain Tom 100 Bag Challenge. The aim was to fill 100 bin bags with litter and get as many people in the community to take part.

The event wanted to embody the spirit and determination of captain Tom who inspired and helped us all through those difficult months. Captain Tom proved that anyone could take on a challenge and make a difference.

The event was a huge success just like Captain Tom’s 100 laps of his garden. Angela Wilson comments on how “It was wonderful to see so many people getting together to celebrate Captain Tom’s fundraising spirit as well as giving something back to the community.” Old Goole Community centre also thought a litter pick would be a good idea so Clean Goole Campaign Group volunteered to run one for them Sunday 16th May. Regular volunteers from the Clean Goole Campaign Group were also joined by some of the members
