TALES OF A CITY K U , n o d n o L

PHOTOGRAPHED BY Seigar

This series is part of my long-term travel and street photographic narrative about the UK, mainly taken in London, that I started in 2005. On this occasion, I aimed to capture some magic as a friendly reminder to people that we must see the world through our prism. Life and magic are there; we only need to open our eyes. I n recent years, I have parked my ego far from my heart to focus on sensing the creation process. My priorities have been living, caring for myself, and enjoying life. These new tales are reflections of this sweet moment in my life, and I will do my best to make it last a long, long, long time. I will not enumerate these series anymore; I have realized all the tales belong to the same project: Tales of a City. While I was trying to identify the British identity, what I found was my voice.

Seigar is a passionate travel, street, social-documentary, conceptual, and pop visual artist based in Tenerife, Spain. He feels obsessed with the pop culture that he shows in his works. He has explored photography, video art, writing, and collage. He writes for some media. His main inspirations are traveling and people. His aim as an artist is to tell tales with his camera, creating a continuous storyline from his trips and encounters. He is a philologist and works as a secondary school teacher. He is a self-taught visual artist, though he has done a two-year course in advanced photography and one in cinema and television. He has participated in several international exhibitions, festivals, and cultural events. His works have been featured in numerous publications worldwide. His last interests are documenting identity and spreading the message of the Latin phrase: Carpe Diem. Recently, he received the Rafael Ramos García I nternational Photography Award. He shares art and culture in his blog: Pop Sonality.

Since 2005, I have been working on this long-term travel and street photo-narrative project in the UK. I took this twelfth series in London, in May 2023. Connected emotionally and professionally with English culture, I have tried to show this personal bond in a pop manner which is my most important artistic influence. I am also interested in giving my views on British identity. On this short trip and staying in my favorite place in the world, I revisited all the usual urban spots I love to capture my fetishes once more: shop windows, my plastic people, food, abandoned objects, and curious finds. I also was seduced by its street art. I pushed the form with reflections, repetitions, and saturated colors, the elements that have become part of my style. I n this series of the project, I sense I have found some bright and shining light that you can feel in the photos. I was on my own so I could flow to my rhythm and dance to my beats, possibly because I have been able to put my ego in plane mode, and my priority for the last few years has been enjoying life. This has been the first for me. The intention is clear once more in these Tales of a City, as a conceptual artist, I forced myself to communicate in a direct way, and to send straight messages in my images. This approach is essential for me. Enjoy the new tales, carpe diem!

Ba rb ie

Gir l to A n o t h e r ? ?Th e P o w e r o f P i n k ? B a rb i e P i n k !? I t had been almost a year. Yes. I have been anticipating this movie for a long while? I knew since then that this is going to be HUGE!! As an artist, I think I have this ?I nstinctive Spider-Senses? of trends and forecasting? that hints of this phenomenon! The ?Zeitgeist? had been leading to this ?Pink Revolution? also known as ?Soft Girl Era? AND the much powerful Aesthetic Trend of the? ?BarbieCore?. You better buckle up! I t?s going to be a PI NK UNI VERSE!

We are now in an era where hyper-femininity, kindness and soft-energyis considered cool and the ?Machismo-Tough-Guy-Energy? is considered lame. Even the Pantone? ?Color of the Year for 2023 is Viva Magenta, which the company describes as powerful and empowering. ?Viva Magenta is brave and fearless, and a pulsating color whose exuberance promotes a joyous and optimistic celebration? ? Breaking News: Just upon writing this article Pantone? recognized the unique Barbie Pink Phenomena taking over pop culture! ?The official Pantone color for Barbie is 219c which is 87.84% red, 12.94% green and 54.12% blue.? Which is a distinct relative of the Viva Magenta color of 2023! Aesthetically, Visually, Commercially Hyper-Feminine-Girl Power is the Zeitgeist ? the sign of times ? and I am here for it! I t was said that this is the ?Barbenheimer? = Barbie + Oppenheimer kind of Summer? But I beg to differ! I would say it is solely a Barbie summer of 2023! We all need this kind of light and joy after a few years of heavy crisis and just so many problems in the world! I f you walk around the city? For sure your eyes will catch a hot pink / magenta / fuchsia window display whether it is a fashion boutique, an art gallery, a cafe bar and clubs. I won't be surprised if a hardware store is all in pink ! Barbie had covered the town PI NK ? and definitely not only New York City but every town subscribing to pop culture. I have not seen such strong marketing and branding since Star Wars and may have even exceeded ?The Force? for that matter.

?? To th e B a rb i e l a n d !? I read one quick review that irked me TBH? Something to do with how shallow the story plot is. Ugh? Why would you expect something dark and heavy on this such sweet and nice flick?! Another popular feedback is that ?I t is not for kids!!? ? At first I thought ?I s the movie going to be obscene?!? No. I t was not. There are just deep undertone ideas to ponder after watching the film. But it is a feel good movie, that I will say? I t created this fantasy world of ?Barbieland? where all kinds of Barbies are successful in their careers? From the President, Astronaut to the Supreme Court Judge. The functionality of the Barbie Dreamhouse brings such nostalgia to women and girls who played with their own Barbies ? how it was to play with this Fashion Doll. Barbieland is a perfect world where Everyday is ?The Best Day Ever!? I love the parody and satirical humor of director and writer Greta Gerwig. The campiness and the irony of dance numbers are camp all the way! The story plot reminds me of those Fantasyland crossing-over to the Real World; very much like Disney?s ?Enchanted?. The conflict plot mission of the story is how Stereotypical Barbie (Robbie) needed to crossover the Real World on a mission to save

her owner human girl, Sasha (Greenblatt) and mother Gloria (Ferrera); putting them through a chase misadventures with the Mattel CEO (Ferrell) and Mattel executives. All the while Ken tagging along discovers how the ?Real World '' is so adept to men. The plot twist continues on with the struggle to keep the Barbieland as the ?Perfect World? with their daily ?Best Days Ever?

I t is not a complex storyline indeed, if you want a complex storyline, you should line up for Oppenheimer! I t is no-rocket-science (pun intended) Barbie is a feel good movie, a celebration of the what the Barbie Pink represents to each and everyone one of us! I did hear about overly wokeness of the film? Again for the second time? I beg to differ! I like the subtle and discrete message take-away of the Barbie Movie. Does Barbie belittle Ken as the take-away? No! The funny thing is there is alway a balancing act in anything and any cause. Whether we are in the ?Real World? or stuck in our own little ?Barbieland Bubble? there is always a balancing act that we have to find our equilibrium. Kensare are not enemies! Hurt people, hurt people? I actually for a brief moment felt Ken?s struggle. I find myself remembering all sad break-ups and how I felt that kind of existentialist confusion. I magine that, a Barbie-girl like me feeling the Ken-energy and struggles! I t also had a little notes like of the ?Animal Farm? where the oppressed becomes the oppressors in opposite worlds. But take it with a grain of salt that it is not about who is in power or ?perfect?... I t is a balancing act. Not to be a spoiler but? I love the ending that is coming full circle of Barbie becoming a real woman. The thing is I believe that is such a powerful ending for the film. No matter how perfect the Barbieland is; No matter how perfect and successful each Barbie Doll is? I t is no replacement for Real life. Yes, Barbie is a role model, but lest we forget, Barbie is a manifestation and an idea made by a Strong I ndependent Visionary of a Woman Ruth Handler who was not perfect at all but powered through the juggling act that is the Real World. I must say as a proud middle aged woman, this movie poked my heart in a deep and special way. Mostly about the film montage of memories playing with Barbies? I t made me so sentimental of my youth and my childhood memories! I ndeed, Barbie became my first role model and until today had been my muse as a fashion designer. She made me believe that I can be whoever I wanted to be. I t reflected with the first Barbie Dolls I was gifted by my Mom, my favorite Aunt and God-Mother? All strong women of their own accord. I t is a love letter to my childhood self? You may not have been allowed to wear pink then? Now you are living your childhood dream having all the pink dresses you want without being restrained. I did you good, K.T? (my

childhood nickname from Karen Tracy). Thank you Barbie for being my childhood heroine. I hold in myself the power of pink bravely and shamelessly radiating my inner joy that the pink represents to me. Conclusion: From one Barbie Girl to Another? From one Barbie Girl to another? Barbie the Movie may be many things to pop-culture now, a Hyper-Feminism Statement, a celebration of joy, a commercial tool to boost commerce. But from one Barbie Girl to Another? I think this is such a nice love letter to many women who grew up playing with Barbie. I t comes full circle watching this movie. I find chatting with my childhood playmates and reminiscing about our Barbie playdates. I t made me feel like I wanted to tell Barbie ?Hey Barbie! I became like you!! Look at me, did I make you proud??!? Toys and dolls are not only recreational childhood tools. I t is so much more, they become your friends, your creative companion and a time capsule of our youth? Reminiscing the innocence of our childhood memories and dreams. I t may not be the same take-away for everyone? But I wish it brings you all the same joy and happiness it has brought me as a fellow Barbie Girl. I am proud to be the Barbie Girl that I am and will always be. #nakakaBarbie = giving barbie vibes in Filipino.

escribing flowers as seductive symbols of hope, grace and renewal, contemporary still life and portrait artist Elizabeth Barlow says her latest series of work, Flora Portraits, is a call to awaken beauty. According to her, flowers represent the power of re-emergence that lies within all living things. Barlow spends a lot of time thinking about beauty and its purpose in the world.

?I believe that beauty is universal in the sense that we all find something beautiful. For me, it might be a rose glowing in the garden?s dawn light. For [another person] it might be the sun setting over the skyscrapers of a metropolis. Both of these experiences are beauty?s way of saying: ?Stop for a moment. Take a breath. Look. See."

?Beauty seduces us into hitting the pause button in our increasingly frenetic contemporary lives. I t lures us from our busyness and awakens us into the wonders of the present moment,? she says. Barlow shares a secret that is worth saving: the more we look for beauty, the more we find it. And then suddenly, it is everywhere. Barlow?s move from San Francisco to Monterey Peninsula, California, in 2016, led to a shift in focus of her work. Surrounded by forests and year-long flowers, she was inspired to take nature as her subject. Barlow started creating Flora Portraits; each painting requires gathering flowers, leaves, branches and vines, arranging the materials in dramatic lighting and photographing them. Over a period of hours ? or sometimes days ? Barlow constructs a composition that expresses the story she wishes to convey.

parallels that exist between art and meditation ? a daily practice of the artist ? she notes that painting flowers brings the same gift as meditation: the opportunity to let go and return to the present moment. Barlow says both practices have transformed her life by giving her a sense of reverence that she carries through her day. ?When we set our daily intention to find beauty ? whatever that may be ? and attune our eyes and hearts to it, something miraculous happens. Each time we stop for beauty, we strengthen our capacity to find it and we begin to see it everywhere,? she says. Barlow suggests that people try letting beauty serve as a guide for one day, or one week, and see where it takes them. When asked what the artist currently has on the go, she shares that her studio is filled at the moment with five large paintings, all of which are in some stage of evolution. All of the pieces which appeared in the exhibition Flora Borealis at Andra Norris Art Gallery in Burlingame, California, September 23 ? October 28. ?I usually prefer to work on one painting at a time, lingering and letting myself inhabit that world day after day. But, when I have a big exhibition on the horizon, I have learned that I need to crank up the creative energy and move back and forth from painting to painting. I walk into the studio each morning and five different paintings are asking for my attention and this fuels me,? she says. Once all of the paintings are ready for the show, Barlow will ?plunge into a commission? for a client on the East Coast. She says it is a painting that will celebrate the roses that the person grows in her Nantucket garden. ?I have been musing on this commission for months now, and I long to get it on the easel and see where it takes me. Each commission is a dialogue between myself, the client and the flowers, and I love the connections this weaves,? she adds. Barlow views her Flora paintings as portraits of flowers; they are representational and highlight the individual character and energetic essence of each bloom. As shared on Barlow?s website, she works with oil on fine French linen in a meticulous process and relies on glazed layers to achieve a level of richness. Some of her paintings are portraits of an individual flower and others are portraits of a garden. ?Since my paintings are so detailed, people often assume that most of my work goes into the actual painting process. However, my greatest creative effort and exploration lies in selecting, arranging and composing the flowers. ?When I begin ?playing?with the flowers, I usually have an idea of how I want the composition to look. But nearly every time, the flowers, the light and serendipity lead me in a different direction,? explains Barlow. Speaking about the

The Visionary Journey of

Gainus Wright III A Swim Coach's Quest for Diversity in Aquatics Acknowledging the prevailing admiration for sports such as football and basketball, Coach Gainus emphasized the need to shift perceptions, particularly among parents, regarding the lasting advantages of swimming. He highlighted how swimming, contrary to the high visibility and financial allure associated with professional football and basketball, offers substantial benefits, including potential scholarship opportunities for education. Engaging with successful swimmers who funded their college education through swimming, he stressed the sport's potential beyond professional athletics.

For over 25 years, Gainus Wright I I I has been an English teacher and swim coach in Fort Lauderdale. As he approaches retirement, his dedication to swimming and his profound desire for change in the aquatics world remains unwavering. Coach Wright?s remarkable journey began as a lifeguard. His entry into coaching stemmed from a pivotal moment involving his daughters and a coach he deeply respected, Cecil Russell. Cecil's controversial past and subsequent arrest due to involvement in illegal substance distribution in various countries became a turning point for Gainus. Determined to make a positive difference, he transitioned from coaching only during summers to becoming a year-round swim coach.

Acknowledging the prevailing admiration for sports such as football and basketball, Coach Gainus emphasized the need to shift perceptions, particularly among parents, regarding the lasting advantages of swimming. Efforts to secure funding for the initiative have involved discussions with influential figures, ranging from politicians such as Debbie Wasserman Schultz to accomplished swimmers like Simone Manuel, Lia Neal, and Natalie

Hinds. These dialogues aimed to garner support and financial backing for the groundbreaking project. There are many academic benefits of swimming. A study conducted by an esteemed figure associated with the I nternational Swimming Hall of Fame. This study revealed that swimming attracted some of the most academically inclined students. Coach Gainus underscored the importance of broadening athletic opportunities, highlighting how more privileged schools encourage participation in various sports beyond the mainstream choices of basketball and football. Students overlook the educational advantages of sports scholarships in favor of unrealistic aspirations for a professional sports career. I t is imperative to emphasize the urgency in redirecting the focus of young athletes towards understanding and harnessing the educational opportunities available through sports. Coach Gainus concluded with an inspiring message for future coaches :?Well, this is it. This is it. I 'm hoping that the next generation of coaches see that they shouldn't just limit their students to one arena that they should diversify. Do everything that you can to get your athletes to participate in other things that are going to supplement what they are most interested in.?

Gainus disclosed his dream and vision: the establishment of an aquatic facility at Dillard High School. His ambitious plan aims not only to bridge the gap in aquatics but to specifically address the disparity within the black community. He emphasized the failure of various efforts to engage the black community in competitive aquatics, highlighting the lack of facilities and limited participation. The proposed aquatic center at Dillard High School represents a beacon of hope. Situated at a historically black high school, it aims to be the first of its kind in Florida, filling a void where no aquatic facilities currently exist in black high schools across a substantial part of the state. Gainus's plan stands as an innovative solution to combat the drowning disparity prevalent in the United States. By strategically locating this facility and emphasizing inclusivity, he hopes to attract and engage the black community in aquatics, opening doors to opportunities previously inaccessible. www.creativmag.com |Oct - Nov 2023 | NeoBoCREATIV | 45

Growing up under the shadow of communism, the interviewee vividly describes the absence of fashion and freedom in her country. For years, Albania had been isolated from the rest of the world, devoid of any semblance of fashion and creativity. The oppressive regime imposed strict rules on personal expression, prohibiting hairstyles, makeup, and fashionable clothing.". I n my communist country Albania, you couldn't wear anything. I t was prohibited. For example you couldn't wear jeans, you couldn't wear your hair down

and you couldn't have makeup or painted nails." "We were living under a very strict regime and I mean they'll kill you for any small infraction. For example, we could not observe the Day of the Dead in Albania. Whoever goes to the cemetery to pay their respects or mourn their loved ones, would be arrested. Or if, for Easter, you dared to have painted eggs for the children. We would grind the eggs and throw them down the toilet, otherwise, they'll arrest you. This was 60 years of pure agony." A Gl i m p se of H op e: As communism began to crumble, Ema seized the opportunity to explore the outside world. Their first encounter with the vibrant city of New York opened her eyes to a newfound sense of freedom and endless possibilities. Su ccess am i d st h ar d sh i p : With a dedicated work ethic and a combination of talent and passion, Ema found success in the fashion world. Her unique designs gained recognition, allowing her to achieve professional milestones such as becoming the official sponsor of Miss Universe in 2021. Through dedication and perseverance, she broke free from the constraints of her communist past and built a flourishing career that transcended borders.

Pr eser vi n g Cu l t u r al H er i t age: Despite pursuing her dreams, Ema remains deeply connected to her Albanian roots. She carries her country's rich history and culture with her, cherishing festivals like the Day of the Dead and incorporating elements of her heritage into her designs. Her unique background and experiences give her work a distinctive flair that captures the attention of audiences around the world. "That marked the beginning of my journey. When we moved to I taly, I was already a professional volleyball player, a path I had embraced since the age of four, much like the rest of my athletic family. My son even holds the title of a national champion in beach volleyball, conquering both North and South America. Athletics run deep in our veins. Leaving my home country at the age of 21, I ventured out as an athlete, a role I had mastered over years of dedicated practice. Alongside my athletic pursuits, I harbored a passion for sewing, embroidering, and fashion, cultivated from a young age with my mother. I t was more than a hobby; it was a form of artistic expression. Thus, I found myself equipped with a profession, an ongoing education, and a creative outlet."

"Upon our arrival in I taly, I seamlessly transitioned back into volleyball, joining a team led by my father, who had become a successful coach in the south, pioneering innovative training methods. Our family quickly found success in our new surroundings. During the summer, while playing beach volleyball with my brother, I caught the attention of a modeling agency. This unexpected opportunity led me to become a fitting model for renowned brands like Blue Marine, Para, and Off Limit. I t was through this venture that I discovered a new passion? fashion? and, unexpectedly, met my future husband. Growing up, the concept of fashion was foreign to me. I n my homeland, the fashion industry was virtually nonexistent, limited to producing a couple of coats, a pair of shoes in three colors, a jacket, and pants each year. Everyone dressed in the same identical manner, as that was the extent of our exposure. I taly, however, was a revelation. A diverse array of fashions and styles unfolded before us, unlike anything we had experienced. Unlike my mother, who had encountered I taly at a young age, I had never been exposed to such diversity. I n my country, there was no access to external television broadcasts; any attempt to tune into channels from Yugoslavia, I taly, or Turkey was met with interference. The exposure to this variety was a transformative education for us, broadening our perspectives in ways we had never imagined."

A

frica A La Mode emerged from a profound affection and zeal for the diverse and vibrant cultures of the Motherland. Our mission is to present to the world the immense talent and creativity that blossoms from those who breathe life into their creations from the very depths of nothingness. We aim to illuminate the extraordinary artistry, innovation, and resilience of individuals throughout Africa, fostering admiration and appreciation for their invaluable contributions to the global creative landscape. I naugurated on Thursday, September 21, for the first time in Rwanda and Africa at large, the event was collaboratively organized with African fashion enthusiasts to spotlight the unique creative talents of local designers in Rwanda and pan-Africanists residing abroad. Beyond mere fashion, the event brought together designers from Nigeria, South Africa, and Haiti, transcending cultural boundaries. I t became a platform not just for showcasing style but for uplifting African fashion and honoring its rich cultural values. Derrick Mugisha Bush, Karen Uwera, and I do Ayo (Nigeria-American), among others, showcased their works, adding depth to the cultural tapestry. Amidst the fashion enthusiasts, models gracefully displayed stylish patterns and fabrics that eloquently told Africa's diverse stories through clothing. Local artisans and designers proudly showcased their unique styles, while their international counterparts infused a global twist that bridged the continent's values, heritage, and cultures.

The Africa a la Mode first edition was held in Kigali, Rwanda, it aimed to showcase the latest fashion trends and designs from both local and international brands with major focus on Rwanda and Haiti. As you may be aware, the fashion industry is rapidly growing, moreover as of late, most of the celebrity designers pull their inspiration from the African culture. The fashion extravaganza transcended clothing; it evolved into a celebration of identity, uniqueness, heritage, and the collective vision of a united and stylish Africa. I t underscored the shared aspirations and dreams of a continent poised to leave its imprint on the global fashion stage. The highlight of the night were the students of the Novelty Fashion Experience, These young talented minds closed the show with the most exquisite designs ever imagined. Certainly with a creative flair their work left the crowd wanting for more. Those students can very well present at Paris or New York Fashion Week. We can't wait to explore more of what the Motherland has to offer next stop Nigeria 2024.

FreeExpression| Relationship Advice

Are You an Active Listener with the Per son You're Dating, or Is Your Selective Hear ing Getting in the Way? The beauty of sound; it's amazing. Unless we plug our ears or something is medically wrong, sound and the act of hearing is involuntary. We can hear everything told to us, everything around us, and our brains can even tune out what's not important to listen to. That said, our decision to hear what's being said by the people we date can be done actively, or in a far too common scenario, selectively. According to an article by the United States I nstitute of Peace (USI P), "active listening is a way of listening and responding to another person that improves mutual understanding. I t is an important first step to... seek solutions to problems." With this understanding, the questions in dating become, I s active listening happening while we're getting to know someone and their desires for the future? Are we listening and responding with mutual understanding of what's being conveyed to us? These questions become critical to answer because they are often overlooked when dating ventures fail and we're left wondering what happened? What usually happens in situations where we may have felt blindsided by someone's actions or feelings about us is our decision to selectively hear what's being told to us. Selective hearing is simply, "appearing to only hear what is important to you. I t has nothing to do with hearing acuity; instead, it has to do with your brain." (Bootshearingcare.com) For example, if a woman decides she wants to date a man seriously who has mentioned his comfortability with being single or his desire to date around, that woman has made the decision to date this man despite what has been told to her; her ears heard one thing, and her brain did another. What happens in this example? Two to three months down the line, said woman is baffled by the man's decision to not take things more serious with her. She's hurt, feels misled, and wants the man to take some accountability. So, was the woman selectively hearing? I t's safe to say, clearly. I f she engaged in active listening, questions would've been asked, lines would've been repeated for understanding, and mutual agreements would've taken place. I n other words, she wouldn't have been left in limbo by a man who never agreed to committing to any one.

Nothing in dating is cookie cutter or absolute. Sure, there are a few cases when we've actively listened to the person we were dating and they threw us for a loop with their decision-- those cases are rare in early stages of dating and usually involve a form of manipulation. The fact is, too many single men and women are left wondering why the person they've liked or befriended had other plans to not move forward after several weeks of consistently dating; the answer is simple. There's a misstep happening with communication when two people are getting to know each other. Conversations that should happen are being brushed over, feelings that need to be repeated aren't, and time after time, single people are starting from scratch with someone new hoping for a different outcome. Moving forward, will you be listening to what the person you're dating is telling you? Will you be asking for clarity and understanding before taking next steps? Or will you pick out what you deem important from a conversation? Will you tune out his/ her desires and only wait to hear what you're listening for? Active listening is intentional, and when done correctly, can lead to better dating outcomes and less disappointments.

BROKEN CRAYONS STILL COLOR

aving a child as a teenager (feelings of brokenness). Having an abortion or losing a child (feelings of brokenness). Getting married to what you believe to be the love of your life, only to end up in an ugly and toxic divorce battle (feelings of brokenness). Attempting suicide after being molested/ raped (feelings of brokenness). Losing your job or not living to the standards of your family's expectations (feelings of brokenness). Being diagnosed with a sexually transmitted disease, cancer, or any form of a terminally ill disease (feelings of brokenness). Being arrested and serving time in prison (feelings of brokenness). Being diagnosed with mental health challenges (feelings of brokenness). Attempting to build a business to provide for you and your family but failing (feelings of brokenness). Having rejection, abandonment, daddy, and mommy issues and realizing it may be the reason why your dating life is nonexistent (feelings of brokenness).

H

I know firsthand what it means to feel completely shattered and broken from my teenage years to even now as a 43-year-old professional woman. I am learning through therapy that my life experiences (especially the bad ones) may leave a scar of brokenness, where I feel inept, where I feel unworthy; however, it doesn't mean I 've lost my value. You see, many of you (including myself) reading this consider ourselves in some shape or form, a broken crayon, identifying with worthlessness. However, a broken crayon doesn't lose its purpose or value. A broken crayon is still able to color. Therefore, my dear friends no matter what you may be going through or experiencing, I want to encourage you that you can still color this world with your special crayon. Don't get me wrong, I truly understand when life throws you curve balls, and happiness seems bleak, depression sets in. I magine being hospitalized back-to-back for three months with the certainty that your body needs medical help, but the local doctors couldn't diagnose the problem. Then at the age of 41, you've already prepared your will and funeral wishes before seeing a specialist, to only find out you suffer from severe migraines. The feeling of hopelessness and brokenness was what I felt; yet with God, I am alive. I was molested at the age of 12. This unfortunate event led me to broken relationships on repeat. Have you experienced that type of lowness, hopelessness of feeling so broken that you feel like you're too damaged to be in a healthy relationship? Too damaged to truly be happy? Therapy has helped me realize, that though my trauma is real, it doesn't mean I am broken or damaged. Yet I can still color. I would like to encourage my readers, that no matter the trauma you've been through or are going through, no matter how broken you may feel, you're a crayon that can still color. Your circumstances do not determine your future, you are a great human being ready to draw the next page of your book. Broken crayons can be useful in so many ways, don't consider yourself disposable. Sharpen yourself up and try again. One man's trash is another man's treasure. Just remember what you may be going through is needed for your growth and your purpose. Who would have thought, as many times that MY crayon was broken, that I would be here as a contributor for a well-known magazine? May these words resonate with someone and may they be encouraged. As Always, Smooches from your girl, MsMyalogues
