RUNNER INSTRUCTIONS

MAY 8 & 9, 2021 TA M PA , F L O R I D A 1

What is a Virtual Run?

A virtual race is a race that can be run (or walked) from any location you choose. You can run, jog, or walk on the road (be safe), on the trail, on the treadmill, at the gym, or on the track (or even at another race). You get to run your own race, at your own pace, and time it yourself.

What Is Run Virtually On Bayshore?

When the extreme circumstances of COVID-19 forced the Gasparilla Distance Classic Association to convert all 2021 PGDC Events to a 100% Virtual Experience, the City of Tampa agreed to close Bayshore Boulevard to traffic on Saturday and Sunday mornings, May 8 & 9. Though not a traditional 2021 PGDC Race Weekend, with the Bayshore Boulevard road closure, the Association can offer 2021 PGDC Registered Participants an opportunity to run or walk their virtual event on Bayshore Boulevard. Running virtually on Bayshore isn’t required. 2021 PGDC Registered Participants can run their virtual event anywhere, and at any time they feel most comfortable. Regardless of where you’ll run or walk your virtual event, please remember to track your distance using a tracking device and to time yourself too. Many have already tracked, timed and completed their virtual event, and uploaded their results to the 2021 PGDC ASICS Runkeeper Results Platform. The deadline for posting is Sunday, May 9, 2021. We would love to hear about your race. If you haven’t already, please join our Run Gasparilla Facebook Group and share your photos and connect with fellow participants! Also, please post a photo on Instagram using #PGDC21, #RunGasparilla & #ARRRGH . In the following pages, you’ll learn more about the 2021 Publix Gasparilla Distance Classic Race Weekend, the 8 On Your Side Health & Fitness Expo, and Run Virtually On Bayshore! If I’ve already completed my 2021 PGDC Virtual Run, can I also Run Virtually On Bayshore? Absolutely! You are welcome to join in on the fun. To access Bayshore Boulevard and the Secure Suggested PGDC Start Line & Finish Line Area, you must be wearing your personalized 2021 PGDC Race Number.
