ANNABEL FAIRFAX grew up in Suffolk and has painted all her life. After studying photography with Jorge Lewinski she then attended The Heatherley School of Fine Art. She regularly takes courses with Robin Child and it is under many years of his tuition and influence that Annabel has shifted from her more representational work to a more abstract style. “Annabel has always had an unusually fine feeling for a decorative painting. However in the past two years she has added to this gift a remarkable understanding of the artistic values that reveal a serious painter. This has come about through a determined study of master works and the qualities that lend them distinction. Her paintings are beautifully composed both in tone and colour and she has an enviable ability to invent and set new colour coordinates for each of her paintings. This makes them so visually compelling, binding the whole into a garden of rich delights. The subtlety of her tonal divisions give weight and balance to the intuitive delicacy of her drawing. Her endless delight in painted flower forms is infectious as is the natural fluency of line and the variety of detail that never outweighs the design of the whole picture. This in itself is a remarkable achievement and it promises much for her future development and I commend her happy enthusiasm and fine ability to all with a taste for excellence”. – Robin Child.

DAVID PEARCE was born in 1963 and has lived in Cornwall since the age of three. He is a self-taught artist whose work has been exhibited internationally since 1998. He had great success at New York’s hippest Art Fair the “Outsider” represented by Marion Harris Fine Art, Park Avenue, New York and recently “Accidental Genius” Milwaukee Art Museum. His paintings were exhibited in the “Summer Exhibition” at the Royal Academy of Art in 2015 and 2016 and he has been shortlisted again for inclusion this year. “It is not often that a contemporary artist stops you in your tracks, roots you to the spot and draws you into their work with just the briefest of viewings. In a turbulent world, his work comes as a breath of fresh air in its directness and honesty. David Pearce’s work is testament to his standing as an increasingly important figure in Contemporary Art”.

EMMA HAGGAS gained a degree in Fine Art, History of art and Education at Homerton College, Cambridge in 1986. She now paints full time from her studio in Wiltshire and takes inspiration from the beautiful landscapes of Salisbury Plain and the Marlborough Downs. She also paints on the North Cornish coast. She enjoys painting from her observations of life in landscapes, still life, flowers and abstract. “Emma has the rare ability to turn what she sees into a work of personal insight. Such a gift is a rare quality to possess as it is the necessary force that lends the work distinction and grips the observers attention and interest. It is her excitement to paint that gives her work its emotional appeal and gives the forms and colours their compelling interest”. – Robin Child.
