Happy Mardi Gras and Happy Valentines Day too! As they say in New Orleans “Laissez bon temps rouler” or Let the Good Times Roll! The SOSC sure had a great time at the January event at the VFW - it’s a good thing we were the only group there! The laughter and yells of BUNCO rang throughout the building! It was a great way to start the year. Thanks to everyone for the yummy food and to Marsha (BUNCO mini-club chair) and our programs gals for a fun evening.
If you have missed any of the wonderful functions, please look over the photos at www.scottosc.shutterfly.com - you’ll see a very nice selection of many great moments from 2012-2013!
It’s that time of year to start asking “how can I be involved in such a great club”? We are starting to collect names for 2013-2014 board positions. Read over the small descriptions (page 4) and fill out the form on page 3 and either bring it with you to the function on Feb. 13 or drop it in the mail. I am very thankful for the wonderful board we’ve had this year. They have put a lot of hard work and dedication into each event and their positions! We have many great upcoming events planned and they are highlighted in this newsletter! Just around the corner is our Trivia Night (see pages 10 & 11 for details). It will be a wonderful, fun-filled event.

We will be sending the membership an email in early February with links to our Town Hall meeting notes, which can be reviewed before the meeting on the 6th or before a possible vote. If the board passes the motion to vote on combining the clubs, all members will receive an e-mail with voting instructions the day after the meeting (14 Feb). Per the SOSC Bylaws, Art II, Section 2. Electronic Votes, "Voting will be permitted for three full days following the email notice (i.e., if the notice is sent on 1 Jan at 9 am, then the vote concludes at 8:59 on 4 Jan)." ~ Stephanie Price, Parliamentarian Thank you for staying tuned!

They are starting their Helping the Homefront activities with either a morning or evening of FREE child care once every few weeks (for children aged 6 weeks through 5th grade). They will provide age appropriate activities and caring attention while parents have a morning/evening to themselves. Their care givers are all CPR certified and most have child education backgrounds to boot ... so parents can rest assured that their children are safe and in an encouraging environment. Parents who would like to participate can register via the "special offers" tab at www.gopmo.org, or ask questions by contacting Suzie Dubose at sueduboseaf@aol.com.
