The highlight of the year, Bordeaux River Festival will open this year with a new look. The festival is held over two days, 18th and 19th June 2011, at the same time as Vinexpo, the international trade exhibition devoted to wine and spirits. On the agenda: the presence of exceptional tall ships in addition to the faithful Belem (France’s last surviving 19th century threemasted cargo ship), the reconstruction of a typical fishing port with oyster-farming shacks, fishing boats and tasting of sea produce, the departure of forty tall ships for the BordeauxBilbao regatta from the new Richelieu giant floating dock, a traditional Basque barque race and countless events along the quaysides. A swimming race across the Garonne is also scheduled to take place on 18th June.
