After three years of renovation, carried out according to the style, the 18th century charterhouse of Château Le Pape has reopened its doors to visitors. It offers five

A former winemakers home, « La Pignarderie Home » in Saint-Emilion

The owner is actively involved in all the wine tourism industries and has been awarded several « Best Of Wine Tourism » awards.

This fifth cru, classified in 1855 in Margaux is, first and foremost, a really great wine, but its also a wine warehouse and a stunning fermenting room with concrete egg-shaped vats. A wing of the château houses five prestigious guestrooms, which combine Tuscan and Flemish influences. The décor of the rooms was entrusted to a Belgian antique and art dealer, who unearthed some unique

Take part in a bespoke visit to « L’Angélus » in Saint-Emilion This château, an A ranked Saint-Emilion premier grand cru, is globally renowned. It owes its name to the location of the vineyard, from where the wine-growers could hear the bells of L’Angélus ring from the three surrounding churches. Nowadays, a carillon of 18 bells, which is its emblematic heart and soul, reigns over it. The address remains private. However, it is possible to go through the château’s doors for a private tasting session or a lunch, therefore enjoying a unique experience discovering a legendary vineyard and a property, the name of which alone is inspirational. The Les Ormes de Pez Château goes back to the 18th century. Classified second cru in 1855 in Saint-Estèphe, Cos d’Estournel is one of the most prestigious estates of the Médoc. You recognise the château’s silhouette from far away, as its roof is topped with exotic pagodas which breakup 6

the Médoc skyline. The history of the estate is intimately linked to India, where its wine was greatly appreciated by the maharajahs. The château was subjected to significant renovation work in the style dear to its founder, Louis Gaspard d’ESTOURNEL still known as the maharajah of Saint-Estèphe. We cross the new ageing cellar created by the architect JeanMichel WILMOTTE, making use of a footbridge which overhangs it. The visit is spectacular.

Best of Wine Tourism - 2016 Winners 20 sites from the region, the most remarkable ones in terms of wine tourism, were awarded a 2016 trophy, including 6 Best of d’Or, in the context of the annual competition organised since 2012 by the Bordeaux Chamber of Commerce and Industry. The winners, rewarded with a Best Of d’Or are Château Carbonnieux (a Pessac-Léognan ranked Grand Cru) in the Architecture and Countryside category, Château de Reignac (an Entre-deuxMers) in the Discovery & Innovation category, Domaine de Grange Neuve (Bergerac and Monbazillac producer) in the Accommodation category, Château de la Dauphine (a Fronsac)

in the Restoration category, Lynch-Bages & Cie in the Wine tourism services category and Château Coutet (a Saint-Èmilion) in the Wine tourism promotion of environmental practices category. It was Lynch-Bages & Cie (owners of several châteaux, especially in Médoc) who won the Best Of Wine Tourism International, in the context of the international version of the competition, via the Network of Great Wine-growing Capitals, which brings together eight cities from « Old Europe » and the « New World ». http://bestofwinetourism.fr

Sleep in a real mansion in the « Domaine de La Fauconnie »

Located 10 minutes from Bergerac, La Fauconnie and its area - 46 hectares of woods and meadows - invites you to discover a mansion, the origin of which goes back to the 18th century, which has been completely restored in 2011. You can also play golf, go on canoe trips on the Dordogne and even practice horse-riding, 5 to 15 minutes away by road. Continental breakfast is served in the morning. A restaurant serving a traditional cuisine is only 800 metres from the mansion. The facilities of La Fauconnie lend themselves perfectly to organising marriages or work trips in a meeting room inside and/ or, if good weather is on the cards, outside, in a verdant and light setting.

London City - Bergerac route with British Airways The British airline has committed to Bergerac for three years from May 2016.Three to four flights per week are planned.

Amsterdam-Bergerac route with Transavia The Dutch low cost airline is opening, all year round, a route between Amsterdam Schipol, KLM hub and Bergerac, from 4th April 2016, at a rate of two to five weekly rotations in the high season, ensured by Boing 737s.

by Air France From 27th March 2016, the Air France airline will once again begin the daily Paris-Charles de Gaulle Biarritz route (twice as often: departing Paris at 08:50 and 16:15) therefore complementing the 6 daily trips from HOP! Air France between Paris-Orly and the Basque resort. The line will be operated via the Embraer 170 equipped with 76 seats.

London-Biarritz route by British Airways British Airways is opening a route between the British capital and the Basque city on 29th April 2016. The 2 weekly flights, Wednesday and Sunday, from London Heathrow will be made by BA382s, departing at 16:25 - arriving at 19:50 in Biarritz.

A new website

A new site dedicated to tour operators, journalists and bloggers Put online on 4th November 2015, the professional site of the Aquitaine Regional Tourist Board dedicated to tour operators and travel agents, has been completely redesigned. The new site is also for events organisers and the press.

A new site’s structure The content is presented in a format similar to that of blogs. The site’s structure highlights the main destinations of the region, Bordeaux, Biarritz and the Basque Country, the Dordogne Valley, the Pyrenees and the Atlantic Coast. Six leading themes are dealt with: wine tourism, cycling tourism, surfing, golf, naturism and river tourism. The site also offers ideas for routes to discover the region in a practical way.

Journalists and bloggers will find all the press releases, news and press kits circulated by the CRTA and its partners there. The site also brings together all the information on the Aquitaine service providers, host agencies, coach operators, interpreter-guides and public tourism bodies. On the technological side, the site was developed with a responsive design to adapt to all screens and the ever increasing mobility of those viewing it.
