GRAPHY SELF-PORTRAIT
I am Csenge Győrbíró, a young textile artsit recently working with untreated natural plants as raw materials for artworks.
As a textile designer I am interested in natural materials, material research and innovative methods of material preparation within art and design. Previously I worked with banana fibers in Poland for experimental object collection, cotton fibers mixed with plant parts in Hamburg, Germany as a new material for experimental cotton sculptures. The mixed material, and the creation of the material is often in the focus of my work. I am intrigued by the battle between “effect” and “honesty” within artworks. There is a tension between a desire for the work to remain raw and sincere and the editing process so that truth is disguised. The exploration of these issues are still evolving.The interest of textile design, natural materials, sculpture and installation is driving me to push the boundaries, try more, experience.

Private Botanical
GARDEN Rare flowers are dangerously close to become extinct, due to climate change. My work, including “Private Botanical Garden” aims to illuminate this fact through a medium that can move us in a way that statistics cannot.
