Marcum Uptown Music Festival The Marcum is a gold sponsor with Enjoy Oxford and part of this sponsorship includes tabling at the annual Thursday Uptown Music Festival. The Marcum along with Campus Services Marketing hosted a table on July 21 during one of the most popular musician’s performances, John Kogge & The Lonesome Strangers. Two prizes were handed out—the grand prize was a king suite for Thanksgiving weekend, Easter weekend, or one night’s stay based on availability by a raffle system and second place received a custom Marcum gift basket with a customized cell phone holder, Starbucks mug, and other office goodies. It was a great time to get out in Oxford and chat with the community.

Model T Donut Trail You may have seen some historic Model T Fords come through town on July 22. The Model T Ford Club hosted the Model T Tour in the Butler County Donut Trail where The Oxford Doughnut Shoppe was one of 13 shops that provided delicious treats along the trail. Their stop was on Western Campus by Peabody Hall and it was a fun day to see the historic vehicles with Western’s historic buildings in the backdrop.

NCF-Envirothon
Cowboy Caviar
Event Services is excited to have hosted NCF-Envirothon for the first time this year, an international environmental and natural resource problem-solving competition that builds leadership experience for high school students that chooses a different state each year to host their event. This year, Miami was chosen as the Ohio host and they have been bringing great energy to campus with activities like a trading session where each group traded SWAG (including Canada!) and conducting research at the Ecology Research Center.
A fresh, simple dip that can be thrown together in under 15 minutes! Cowboy Caviar makes a great side dish for any picnic, potluck, or party, and is a great way to use up your summer produce! Ingredients • 3 Roma tomatoes seeds removed, diced • 2 ripe avocados, diced • ⅓ cup red onion, diced • 15 oz black beans, rinsed and drained • 15 oz black eyed peas, rinsed and drained • 1 ½ cups frozen sweet corn, thawed (I just usually toss it in the salad frozen unless I plan on eating it immediately, it thaws quite quickly) • 1 bell pepper, diced (I used half a green and half a red, but color doesn’t matter) • 1 jalapeño pepper, seeds removed and diced into very small pieces • ⅓ cup cilantro, finely chopped Dressing • ⅓ cup olive oil • 2 Tablespoons lime juice (fresh preferred) • 2 Tablespoons red wine vinegar • 1 teaspoon sugar • ½ teaspoon salt • ½ teaspoon pepper • ¼ teaspoon garlic powder • Tortilla chips for serving Directions • Combine tomatoes, avocado, onion, black beans, black eyed peas, corn, pepper, jalapeño pepper, and cilantro in a large bowl. Toss/stir well so that ingredients are well-combined. • In a separate bowl, whisk together olive oil, lime juice, red wine vinegar, sugar, salt, pepper, and garlic powder. • Pour dressing over other ingredients and toss/stir very well. • Keep refrigerated. If not serving immediately, be sure to toss/stir well before serving. https://www.spendwithpennies.com/cowboy-caviar

Host an Event at Goggin Goggin Ice Center is a wonderful facility to host events right here on campus. They have all types of rental options for teams, organizations, and private parties on an hourly basis. Activities include ice skating, broomball, ice hockey, or whatever creative idea you can come up with! They also have the Club Lounge available with bar and catering options. MU groups receive a significant discount! Goggin has two NHL size ice sheets available, one of which provides a unique ‘drop-down’ wall dividing the ice into two individual playing surfaces. This is a great option for broomball and allows for two activities offered during the same ice time rental. It’s a great option for youth groups and on-campus groups. If you’re celebrating a birthday, Goggin has you covered! Birthday party packages are offered during public ice skating sessions. Saturdays and Sundays, 3:15pm to 5:00pm. A private, rink-side locker room is offered during weekend skates. Light refreshments are permitted, and non-skaters are more than welcome to join. Take advantage of this awesome event space right here on Miami’s campus! For more information contact Jon Elliott, elliotjl@MiamiOH.edu.
