Our assessment is one of the first efforts in Vietnam to promote the practice of gender impact assessment in hydropower development. The assessment focused its research on Buon Don district, Dak Lak province. Buon Don, or formerly Ban Don, was named after Laotian (the majority of the population here long time ago), meaning "Island Village". The village was built on an oasis of the great river of Srepok, the second largest river of the great Central Highland region.
