STRIKE BENEFITS PICKET DUTY & STRIKE PAY SIGN UP
STRIKER RESPONSIBILITIES: DOs & DONTs
1. To qualify for the full strike benefit, you must walk a picket line or perform strike support for at least 20 hours a week.
1. PICKET. Picketing wins the strike. It is your most important responsibility as a striker to picket the shift and the line to which you are assigned. This is how you will demonstrate your support of the strike and how we will win. DO keep walking and moving on the picket line.
2. Bring your strike ID card and sign in / out of your shift on the line. The Union will have a system in place if you did not get your card in the mail. 3. Sign up for strike pay on the line (see next page) or by scanning a QR code available on the line to fill out the form. 4. Your picket week begins the first day we walk out on strike. 5. Don’t forget: When we go on strike, you will receive your last paycheck from the casino the first week of the strike. 6. You will receive your strike pay on the second week of the strike. For example: If we strike on 11/10/2023 then your strike benefit will be automatically deposited to your bank account on 11/23/2023, as long as you are fulfilling your picket duty from 11/10-11/17. 7. Every week after that, your strike pay will be automatically deposited to your account.
2. ATTEND rallies and marches. Participate in every event to show how strong and determined we are. DO be loud, proud, and let guests, customers, and pedestrians know why we are on strike 3. STAY INFORMED. Don’t pay attention to rumors. Get real information about the strike from your picket captain on the picket line. 4. FOLLOW all instructions from your picket captain. DO NOT block entrances and exits to the casino property. 5. REPORT any misconduct to your picket captain. DO NOT obstruct the ability of pedestrians to move along on the public sidewalks. 6. GET TO KNOW everybody on your picket line.
8. By law, the Union is required to report all payments that total over $600 to the IRS. You are responsible for the taxes on your strike pay.

STRIKE FAQ WHY ARE WE HAVING THIS FIGHT? To win the largest wage, health care, and pension increases EVER negotiated. Reduce workload and win daily room cleaning, strengthen our existing technology language, and to win language that gives casino workers the right to respect non-union workers picket lines. IS THE CULINARY UNION READY TO STRIKE? YES, together we will fight for our future. We are ready to and WILL outlast any employer who wants to fight us. We are strong. We are prepared. ONE JOB SHOULD BE ENOUGH! WILL WE BE FIRED IF WE GO ON STRIKE? NO, you cannot be fired for striking. Going on strike is your federally protected right by the U.S. National Labor Relations Board. CAN I GET A SECOND JOB DURING THE STRIKE? YES, as long as you do your strike picket shift (20 hours a week), you will get your per week strike pay. WHAT HAPPENS TO MY CULINARY HEALTH FUND BENEFITS? If you have Culinary Health Fund benefits now, they will continue for an additional 4 months after we go on strike. DO I HAVE TO USE MY POINTS OR CALL IN WHEN I AM ON STRIKE? No.
WHAT DO WE DO WHEN WE WALK OUT? You should pack up your station like you usually do when you leave work for the day. Drop off your bank, wrap and label your inventory, clean off your table, drop off your cart, etc. HOW LONG WILL THE STRIKE LAST? We will strike until we win. We know how to win. ONE JOB SHOULD BE ENOUGH! WHAT WILL OUR STRIKE PAY BE? Strike pay is $300 the first week (since you have one more paycheck coming) and $400 every week after. The full strike benefit will be $400 per week. WHO GETS THE STRIKE PAY? Striking members who consistently walk the picket line for 5 days-a-week, for 4hours a day will receive the weekly strike pay. WILL WE HAVE HELP WHILE WE ARE ON STRIKE? YES. The Culinary Union has the resources, skills, and experience to win. We will make sure strikers receive the support for as long as it takes. We are putting together a STRIKE RESOURCE GUIDE that you will get soon. Members who win contracts know this is all of our fight and will stand in solidarity with unsettled properties until everybody has their contract. BENEFICIOS DE LA HUELGA REGÍSTRESE PARA RECIBIR SUS DEBERES DE PROTESTA Y EL PAGO DE HUELGA
RESPONSABILIDADES DE HUELGUISTA: QUÉ HACER Y QUÉ NO HACER
1. Para calificar para el beneficio completo de huelga, debe caminar en una línea de protesta o apoyar la huelga durante al menos 20 horas a la semana.
1. PROTESTAR. Protestar gana la huelga. Es su responsabilidad más importante como huelguista hacer protesta en el turno y en la línea a la que está asignado. Así demostrará su apoyo a la huelga y así ganaremos. Continúe caminando y moviéndose en la línea de protesta.
2. Traiga su tarjeta de identificación de huelga y firma la entrada/salida de su turno en la línea. La Unión tendrá un sistema implementado si no recibió su tarjeta por correo. 3. Regístrese para recibir pago de huelga en la línea (consulte la página siguiente) o escaneando un código QR disponible en la línea para completar el formulario.
2. ASISTA a mítines y manifestaciones. Participe en cada evento para demostrar lo fuertes y decididos que somos. Sea ruidoso, orgulloso e informe a los invitados, clientes y peatones por qué estamos en huelga.
4. Su semana de protesta comienza el primer día que salimos a la huelga.
3. MANTÉNGASE INFORMADO. No preste atención a los rumores. Obtenga información real sobre la huelga de su capitán de protesta en la línea de protesta.
5. No lo olvide: Cuando hagamos huelga, recibirá su último cheque de pago del casino la primera semana de la huelga.
4. SIGA todas las instrucciones de su capitán de protesta. NO bloquee las entradas y salidas a la propiedad del casino.
6. Recibirá su pago de huelga en la segunda semana de la huelga. Por ejemplo: si hacemos huelga el 11/10/2023, su beneficio de huelga se depositará automáticamente en su cuenta bancaria el 11/23/2023, siempre y cuando cumpla con su deber de protesta del 11/10 al 11/17.
5. REPORTE cualquier mala conducta al capitán de su protesta. NO obstaculice la circulación de los peatones por las aceras públicas. 6. CONOZCA a todos los que participan en su línea de protesta.
7. Cada semana después de eso, su pago de huelga se depositará automáticamente en su cuenta. 8. Por ley, la Unión debe informar al IRS todos los pagos que sumen más de $600. Usted es responsable de los impuestos sobre su salario de huelga.

¿QUÉ HACEMOS AL SALIR? Debe empacar su estación como lo hace habitualmente cuando sale del trabajo por el día. Deje su banco, envuelva y etiquete su inventario, limpie su mesa, deje su carrito, etc.
Reducir la carga laboral y lograr la limpieza diaria de las habitaciones, fortalecer nuestro lenguaje tecnológico existente y lograr un lenguaje que brinde a los trabajadores de los casinos el derecho a respetar las líneas de protesta de los trabajadores no sindicalizados.
¿CUÁNTO DURARÁ LA HUELGA? Haremos huelga hasta que ganemos. Sabemos cómo ganar. ¡UN EMPLEO DEBERÍA SER SUFICIENTE!
¿LA UNIÓN CULINARIA ESTÁ DISPUESTA A HACER HUELGA? SÍ, juntos lucharemos por nuestro futuro. Estamos listos y sobreviviremos a cualquier empleador que quiera luchar contra nosotros. Somos fuertes.
