The history of Ottershaw Park begins in April 1761 when Thomas Sewell a barrister of Lincoln Inn Fields bought Ottershaw Farm from The Reverend Thomas Woodford, cleared it away and built the first Ottershaw Park mansion. Over the years it has been used in several guises, notably a hospital during WW1 and a college after WW2. In early 1945 Ottershaw school was founded and classes were held in the Mansion block and in the Bothy both adjacent to Tarka. Several houses in the grounds were occupied by members of staff, two built in 1957 and two in 1961. 1961 also saw the building of the Chemistry laboratory now nos 20 and 21 (Tarka). Ottershaw Village is a short distance away and offers a range of everyday shops and local pub. The location lies between Heathrow and Gatwick airports as well as the A3, M25, M3 and M4. Nearby sporting facilities including golf at Foxhills Country Club, Queenwood & Wentworth. Other busy centres locally include Woking, 3 miles and Weybridge, 5 miles both of which offer a mainline station into London Waterloo.
