ack in the mid 1990’s my husband Ron and I would visit relatives and spend a lot of time golfing in the Valley of the Sun. We immediately fell in love with the area as a result of playing both Troon North Championship courses. In 1999, we made the move to Arizona, bought a lot in Troon North’s master planned community, in 2000, and built our home. The Tom Weiskopf designed course at Troon North has lush fairways meticulously maintained and the greens are like ice – all situated among the boulder outcroppings of north Scottsdale’s Sonoran Desert. We especially love the panoramic views of Pinnacle Peak, Troon Mountain, and the McDowell Mountain range. Each night the flagsticks must be laid down on the greens. Wind, you might surmise? And you would be wrong.

M

oose. That’s right. Moose. It seems the gangly creatures that make their home in these Idaho parts like the salt deposits left on the flagsticks from golfer’s hands. Such quirky challenges combined with a compelling site in the dramatic foothills of the Grand Tetons make for what golf course architect David McLay Kidd called his “greatest creative opportunity” and “quite possibly a bigger achievement than my course at Bandon Dunes.” This is Huntsman Springs. In Driggs, Idaho. International businessman and philanthropist Jon Huntsman, Sr saw a sleeping opportunity in this nature-rich Idaho community just over the pass from tony Jackson Hole, WY. He and his family began buying property. In
