f there is one word used to describe Chey Castro, it is hard-working. ack in the mid 1990’s my husband Ron and I would visit relatives and spend a lot of time golfing in the Valley of the Sun. We immediately fell in love with the area as a result of playing both Troon North Championship courses. In 1999, we made the move to Arizona, bought a lot in Troon North’s master planned community, in 2000, and built our home. The Tom Weiskopf designed course at Troon North has lush fairways meticulously maintained and the greens are like ice – all situated among the boulder outcroppings of north Scottsdale’s Sonoran Desert. We especially love the panoramic views of Pinnacle Peak, Troon Mountain, and the McDowell Mountain range. The elevation at Troon North also provides a great setting for night views of the valley below. We are continually intrigued by the topography of the area and Troon North is attuned to keeping the landscaping indigenous to the desert. I enjoy the
resulting calm and peaceful atmosphere of the community. Living in the High Sonoran Desert also provides many recreational opportunities with nearby Pinnacle Peak, Troon North’s 4-acre community park and a 185-acre mountain preserve with winding multi-use trails. Why do I love Troon North? I love it because it has something for everyone, whether it’s golf, tennis, dinner at the fantastic clubhouse, the beauty of the high desert or access to nearby shops and restaurants in Scottsdale. Even though the golf facilities are regularly improved and enhanced, the renovated clubhouse is really a game changer that in our eyes has elevated Desert Highlands even higher. Because the community is set at the base of Pinnacle Peak, the views we get to see every day are amazing. Because Desert Highlands is a bit removed from the hustle and bustle of the city we enjoy the peace and quiet, but we’re still very close to the best shopping and dining options, and the 101 is nearby if we want to go downtown for sporting events.
