In Person Registration:
How to Register
Registration Policies & Guidelines Uh-oh, we had to cancel: Regrettably, if a minimum number of registrants is not met, we may have to cancel or combine classes due to insufficient registration. These decisions are made prior to the course start date. Please register early to avoid disappointment. A 100% refund is granted when we cancel a program. When a class has been cancelled due to instructor illness or weather conditions, a class will be added on at the end of the session. If this is not possible, you will be issued a refund in the amount of the missed class. Oops, changed your plans?: A refund will be issued if we receive applicable withdrawal notification. Programs and lessons require five (5) or more days’ notice prior to course start date. Camps and certification courses require seven (7) or more days’ notice prior to course start date. If appropriate notice is not given, no refund will be issued. There may be other exceptions to these guidelines. In some cases, these exceptions will be noted in the individual course description. To request a refund, please contact the facility that is offering your program. All refunds are subject to a $5 processing fee.
Sorry, the course is full: If a program is full, please ask staff to put your name on our waitlist. We will do our best to accommodate those waitlisted.
Customer Satisfaction: We care about your experience in our programs. Please contact one of our Programmers directly to discuss any questions, comments, or concerns that you have with our recreation programs.
Refunds: Payments made by credit card will be refunded by the initial payment method. Payments made by cash, cheque, or debit will be refunded by cheque; please allow a minimum of two weeks’ processing time.
Extended Illness / Injury and Missed Classes: Please stay at home when you’re sick, even if symptoms are mild. In cases of extended illness or injury, a prorated refund may be granted upon provision of a medical note. Classes missed due to vacation, or other reasons will not be refunded.

The workshop participants will not only learn about the healthy gut, but also develop practical working knowledge about how to have a healthy gut biome for the health of their body, mind and spirit! Let’s dive in for an exciting adventure into perhaps the least known part of the human body and have incredible fun!

Upon familiarization with the symptoms of stress and anxiety, a natural body response to anticipated events and threats is presented for both healthy and maladaptive coping mechanisms. This class is for hikers, kayakers, campers, and anyone who spends time outside. We will review some critical cloud interpretation to determine the short-term weather forecast, and explain when (and why) the forecast by the professionals is less dependable. We will also cover some “local, west coast, micro climate” specific weather situations, how to interpret tide tables for water levels and currents, weather forecast tools, and some of the most popular weather apps for your device.
This course is taught by a Search and Rescue Manager with over 30 years’ experience. Do you spend time in the wilderness, and have a solid understanding of “survival priorities”, fire starting, shelter building, essential gear, and how to alert search and rescue? In this session you will learn about “enemies of survival” and get hands-on experience with survival equipment. You will learn some advanced survival skills that are specific to Vancouver Island from an experienced SAR professional in a fun environment. This class will start indoors and then move outside for some fire-starting practice as well as hands-on shelter building, so please dress appropriately for the weather. Bring your own fire starter kit to practice with if you want to try it out.
