PRESIDENT | letter
WELCOME I am honored to serve as president of the Central Washington Homebuilders Association this year. I anticipate continued improvement in the housing industry as well as enhanced value to our CWHBA members. Central Washington has seen tremendous growth throughout the past few years and with it, we encounter new challenges affecting the industry every day. As an Association committed to advocating for fair and balanced regulation of our industry, we maintain vigilance, active engagement and rock solid advocacy with elected officials and agencies responsible for managing growth. At the same time, our Association strives to enhance member benefits through networking, education, community contribution and leadership development. The CWHBA provides you with local, state and national representation. Our influence and reach are partly a function of the size of our membership. As the largest regional organization advocating exclusively for the best interests of the home building industry, the CWHBA provides a highly experienced and exceptionally well connected staff to serve the evolving needs of our members in a dynamic market. When you join the CWHBA, your company is recognized as one who is just as committed to your industry as you are to the people you serve. Value of Membership
F
or more than 60 years, the Central Washingon Home Builders Association has been the area’s professional association for the building industry serving over 600 members in a six-county jurisdiction: Yakima, Klickitat, Kittitas, Chelan, Douglas and Okanogan. This volunteer organization is comprised of builders, developers, trade contractors, suppliers, lending institutions, title companies, engineers, attorneys and various other types of businesses that have a relationship with the building industry.
The National Association of Home Builders (NAHB) is a trade association that helps promote the policies that make housing a national priority. Since 1942, NAHB has been serving its members, the housing industry, and the public at large. Last year, NAHB’s advocacy efforts saved the typical home builder roughly $6,200 per housing start, including both single-family and multifamily. For more information about NAHB, visit www.NAHB.org The Building Industry Association of Washington (BIAW) is dedicated to creating a positive business environment for the housing industry by addressing the housing issues of the people of Washington. BIAW Represents 14 local associations and nearly 8,000 members across Washington. For more information on BIAW, visit www.biaw.com

CWHBA | advocacy program
GOVERNMENT AFFAIRS A core mission of the Central Washington Home Builders Association is advocacy. Representing the home building industry in city halls, county courthouses, the state capitol and area congressional offices, CWHBA works to keep its members informed on regulatory issues as well as serving as a trusted information resource for public officials. Successes have included code changes, favorable local tax structure, more efficient permitting process and protection from harmful ordinances and regulations.
CWHBA, BIAW AND NAHB advocacy efforts annually save the typical home builder approximately $7,000 per housing start. When CWHBA advocacy is successful: • Rising construction costs and housing costs are contained. • The overall universe of potential home buyers and home owners is larger. • More homes are built, sold, and remodeled. • Economic development of the region is advanced. • Thousands of jobs are created and sustained inside and outside of the construction industry.
AHCCW The Affordable Housing Council of the Central Washington Home Builders Association, general-purpose political action committee (PAC) is devoted to a point of view, not a political party.
