What’s DCON? 1

A Message From Your LTG Hi everyone! I know I just put out an issue a few weeks ago, but it’s come to my attention that many of you do not know what DCON is. With so many acronyms in Key Club like RTCs, CMRFs, ICON, and DCON, I can see how you might not really know what DCON is all about. In this issue I will try to go over as much about District Convention that I can. This year’s theme is “Destination: Service” so join the New Jersey District as we travel the world with service! There’s a ton going on in this weekend long event and every Key Clubber is welcome to attend Yours in Caring and Service, 2

Rooming

Upon arrival at the Ocean Place Resort and Spa on Friday, March 28, your advisor will have rooms assigned. Each room has between 3 and 4 people from the same club of the same gender. Each room has a balcony (most with a beach view), beds, and a bathroom. Members must be in their rooms from 12am-6am. 3

Service Fair

At the service fair, clubs from all over New Jersey make tri-folds that show off some of the best service projects in our state. There are also tables with representatives of organizations such as March of Dimes, Children’s Miracle Network, and more!

4

Sessions and Awards

DCON Sessions are scattered throughout the weekend with awards, guest speakers and information about our partner organizations.

5

Friends

What would a Key Club event be without friends? During DCON there is plenty of time to hang out with old friends (and make new ones!). Spend free time out in town getting ice cream or playing by the beach, eat during meal time together, or have a party in the hallway.

6

Dances and Talent Show

Need a tie? Want to dance with an NJDB member? A dollar goes a long way! All money gets donated to the Eliminate Project. 7

Where do I sign up?! Well I’m sure this newsletter has convinced you that DOCN is one of the best Key Club weekends of the year. Dances, food, friends and so much more packed into one weekend. Ask your advisor (or me) for more information on how to attend District Convention. DCON will be held on March 28-30 at the Ocean Place Resort and Spa in Long branch, NJ. The cost is $260 per Key Club member and while it may seem like a lot of money, this is a “party” to end all the work you’ve put into Key Club. Whether you’re a new general member or the president who is graduating soon, talk to your advisor about attending! Information about awards, scholarships, and registration can be found in the registration emails. Hope to see you there!
