Farewell Letter Hi everyone, It’s been a long year full of amazing events which is why I decided to make this newsletter to recap all the great things we’ve been a part of. I’ve gotten to know most of you through DCMs and club visits and you are all great leaders that I’m lucky to have worked with. There were times where I was stressed by report forms and trying to meet quorum but you were all there for me to make things better. For the seniors who are graduating soon, I hope that you continue your love for service in Circle K and if your college doesn't have one, start one! High schoolers, I hope you continue to serve your community with Key Club. It’s important to always give back to your community and I know that for some of you serving others has always been an important part of your life. I hope you have made everlasting memories and friends through this club like I have. Best of luck in all of your future endeavors. Get ready for some tears at DCON... Yours in Caring and Service, Cynthia Thurairajah
District Convention 2013 “The Great Gatskey”
This time last year we were celebrating the beginning of the 2013-2014 service year by partying it up like Gatsby. We had a roaring year of service with clubs from all over the state learning about the eliminate project, the positions in Key Club International and meeting new people. DCON is the time of year to meet up with old friends and make new ones. If you are attending this year’s DCON be prepared for lots of selfies and awkward hugs.
Regional Training conferences took place in the spring and fall of 2013. It’s not exactly the most fun to get up early on a Saturday morning, we had a great turn out of Key Clubbers who wanted to learn more about Key Club. Shout out to Cedar Creek for hosting this year!
Regional Training Conferences
Service Projects
There were tons of service projects throughout the year but I got to meet a lot of you at the 4H fair this summer where we served food with the Galloway Kiwanis club. Lots of orders and even a wild horse running around.
International Convention Everyone had their phones out and #KCDC was trending. Spending a week in Washington, DC with Key Clubbers from all over the world was a great vacation with old and new friends making all kinds of crazy memories. (Yes that is me in the unicorn mask)
Fall Rally Fall Rally was a Sunday in mid October with a record of over 3000 Key Clubbers at 6 Flags Great Adventure. We dressed as superheroes of service and got to fly around the park spreading our cheer. The weather was great and even though we had a few mishaps (an LTG got stung by a bee ouch‌) It was a great day for everyone.
I don’t think anyone joins Key Club knowing what they’re getting into. Most of us joined for college resumes or just because a lot of our friends were joining. Some of you joined because of your passion for service. Whatever your reason was, in the end the reason you probably had a great time is because of the memories you’ve made along the way. This is my fourth and final year a Key Clubber and I look back at my high school career and Key Club is the number one memory. From staying up all night to prepare for elections, making newsletters, late night phone calls to prepare for board meetings, long car rides, filming Fall Rally promotional videos in the heat, crying at DCON and midwinter and every board meeting, every event has been a memory for me. I hope that after your first, second, third, or final year in Key Club, that you have made memories and friendships that will never leave you. Take these memories with you and join again next year or continue with the K-Family with Circle K!

Are you a high school senior getting ready to attend college? Circle K International (CKI) is the premier collegiate and university community service, leadership development, and friendship organization in the world. With more than 12,600 members in 17 nations, CKI is making a positive impact on the world every day. Circle K clubs are organized and sponsored by a Kiwanis club on a college or university campus. CKI is a selfgoverning organization and elects its own officers, conducts its own meetings, and determines its own service activities. CKI blends community service and leadership training with the opportunity to meet other college students around the world. Projects such as the Six Cents Initiative, CKI’s International fundraiser that aims to provide water to the 2.2 billion children worldwide who lack safe drinking water, bring CKI members together to make a difference in the world.
