A Message from your LTG Hey guys, School’s just begun which means there’s a lot of Key Club work to be done! In this issue you will find the link to the divisional crewneck I made, information about RTCs, information on membership and dues, and some info on Fall Rally. Remember that when you’re at school and trying to get people to join Key Club, mention things like Fall Rally, service hours, college applications, and the friendships you’ve made. They’re in the same position as you were a few years ago so it’s a good idea to think back to the reason you joined this amazing organization.

Get ready to “Experiment with Service” at Fall RTCs! Twice a year, the New Jersey District of Key Club International organizes RTC’s (the scientific name being Regional Training Conferences) to learn about Key Club and make friends in your region. RTC’s give Key Clubbers opportunity to learn about the different organizations we work with, such as UNICEF and March of Dimes, as well as get insight on how to become a better leader. The theme for this year’s RTCs is to “Experiment with Service”. Breakfast will be served in the morning to excite your electrons for the informative day ahead. During the first workshop session, officers have a chance to learn about their positions and ask questions to members of the District Board. Other workshops will inform you about our partners in service, project ideas, and fundraising tips. “Periodically”, someone from the District Board may lead you in a game of Baby, I Love You or another icebreaker. Time might feel like it’s going faster than the speed of light as you make friends and learn about your District. You may not realize how fast the workshops go by, but Heisenberg tells me you’ll know exactly where you are by lunch, which will also be included. South Fall RTC’s will be held at Burlington Twp High School on September 15th. Central Fall RTC’s will be held at the Marine Academy of Science and Technology on September 21st. North RTC’s will be held at Livingston High School on September 22nd. All RTCs are held from about 9am to 12pm. I was trying to think of an electricity pun to end this, but my head Hertz. Whether you’re an officer, general member, or advisor, Fall RTCs will give you an opportunity to “Experiment with Service”. ***ALL OFFICERS MUST ATTEND AT LEAST ONE RTC IN EITHER SPRING OR FALL IN ORDER TO BE DISTINGUISHED. *** Invite your general members, they can learn a lot and may want to run for a position in the future. MEMBERSHIP If your club has a “club rush” week try having a trifold with information as well as pumped up officers standing around to explain why they should join this organization
You’re going to get the question “Why should I join Key Club?”. Sit down and think about the reason you joined. Even if it wasn’t because you loved service, chances are your reason could make someone else want to join. Common answers are: -”all my friends were joining” -”I needed service hours for National Honor Society/college applications” -”leadership potential” -”free food” -”looks fun on Facebook” Pictures and just an excited face can really get people to want to join

P AND DUES Dues must be $12 but clubs can charge up to $17. The extra $5 can go to building up your club treasurer. This money can be used to do a big service project, get busses to big events like Fall Rally, DCON, ect.
As you collect dues from members make a spreadsheet with the following information: first name, last name, graduation year, gender, homeroom, address, phone number, email, and any other information you think you will need throughout the year. All of this information is needed to update the “Membership Update Center. Secretaries will need to ask their advisor for the username and password to input this information.
Early Bird Award is given to clubs who submit dues and update thee online database by NOVEMBER 1st. All dues must be in by DECEMBER 1st at the latest

Fall Rally This year’s theme for Fall Rally is “Superheroes of Service” and Division 1B will be represented by *drum roll* Buttercup the Powerpuff Girl. And I know what you’re thinking, “she’s not a superhero” but she does have superpowers and saves the world just like Key Clubbers are superheroes by saving the world from MNT! Those who are attending can bring in new school supplies for our “Tools for Schools” drive. Officers can give hours depending on how much each member of their club donates. Arrive a 7:30-8:30 am on October 13th, for those who did not buy an early registration ticket for $36 they can still purchase a ticket at the door for $40. Head over to the stadium for tons of cheers, spirit and of course the NJDB. We can’t wait to see you there!
