At the heart of Mountview’s new building is a brand new training theatre. This theatre will be a world-class resource for the next generation of professional artists. High quality training facilities will prepare students for performance and backstage careers throughout the creative industries, providing acting, directing and technical students with the opportunity to learn and perform in a professional environment.

A THEATRE FOR THE LOCAL COMMUNITY AND INDUSTRY The theatre will be open to the public year-round, showing over 26 high quality productions of new writing, large scale musicals and classics every year. Discounted tickets will be available for local residents. Surrounding bars and cafés will welcome the local community and audiences. The theatre will also be available for professional hires, large-scale events and conferences, with discounted rates for charities and community groups.

TECH SPECS The maximum capacity of the space is 200 seats. The footprint is similar in size to the Unicorn and Young Vic theatres. The space has a mixed technical offer with a gantry, tension grid and fly floor, all of which are fully wheelchair accessible. The theatre is a fully flexible space with options for an orchestra pit and thrust, end on, in the round and traverse configurations.

TIMELINE AND FUNDRAISING Mountview’s new building in Peckham will open in late autumn 2018. The full fit-out of the main theatre space will follow soon after, and the theatre will welcome its first audiences in spring 2019. The full cost of the build and fit out is £28.3m. Mountview has secured 95% of this with £1m still to raise, which represents the costs of fully fitting out the theatre space to become a world-class resource for training, performances and events.
