Experience three weeks of training at one of the UK’s top drama schools. Mountview has trained some of the greatest stage and screen actors of our generation for 25 years. Join us and be among the next wave of rising talent. Mountview’s Summer Boot Camps in acting and musical theatre are designed to offer an introduction and access to world-class drama school training at an affordable price: on each course you’ll receive 90 hours of training from Mountview’s expert staff.

ACTING Three weeks Monday 29 July – Friday 16 August 2019 £1,050

COURSE CONTENT Week 1: The Skills Garage Week one includes 30 hours of intensive professional actors’ training. Sessions will cover: • • •

Acting: unlock creativity and explore truth and connection to character Voice: an introduction to the principles of vocal technique teaching you how to use this amazing instrument Movement: discover how to access character through observation and physicality, explore the importance of body language and connect your body to the text

Master these key skills and you’ll be on your way to becoming a professional actor. Week 2: Unlocking Shakespeare Five days of practical work demystifying and breathing contemporary life into Shakespeare’s words. Unlock the secrets of acting the world’s greatest playwright and learn how to bring his characters to life. This week will take the fear out of understanding and acting Shakespeare. Week 3: The Audition Get the inside track to success at drama school auditions. You will learn how to pick and prepare the best classic and contemporary monologues for you, avoid clichés, and bring your character to life. With only a few short minutes to impress an audition panel, make those minutes count! This week is packed with rehearsal and mock auditions, advice and tips.

MUSICAL THEATRE Three weeks Monday 29 July – Friday 16 August 2019 £1,200

COURSE CONTENT Week 1: Heart, Body and Soul In week one you’ll learn how to get to the heart of a character, use your body in serious dance training and express your soul though song. This is 30 hours of intensive triple-threat training with sessions including: • • •

Acting: unlock creativity, find a truthful connection and bring characters to life Singing: discover the principles of vocal technique, develop musicality and improve your sight-reading Dance: build stamina and strength, improve dance technique and learn to express yourself through dance

Week 2: Blood, Sweat and Tears You’ve got one week to put all your performance skills together into one fiendish ensemble performance. Working with a professional creative team, this intensive week will make you quicker at picking up direction, vocals and choreography: the focus is on attention to detail and rehearsal process. This week will cement the vital triple-threat skills you need to succeed. Week 3: The Audition From getting into to drama school right through to working in the industry, the audition is key and you need to make those vital minutes count! This week is packed with advice and tips, rehearsal and the inside track to unlocking success at your future drama school auditions. Learn how to select, prepare and perform songs and monologues, and ace your future auditions.

ENTRY REQUIREMENTS To apply for a Summer Boot Camp, please download the application form and email it to shortcourses@mountview.org.uk Applicants must be aged 17 or over at the start of the course and must be fluent in English. We require a level of English that is approximately IELTS 6.0. It is not mandatory to have taken English language tests prior to attending this course; we recommend that for nonEnglish speakers if you have not completed Level 6 IELTS that you must have the equivalent English language experience. Mountview welcomes applications from people with disabilities and is keen to support all applicants to achieve their best. If applicants have any special requirements or access needs, these should be discussed with the course leader/administrator. ADDITIONAL COSTS We do not have our own student accommodation at Mountview, so all Boot Camp attendees must be able to arrange somewhere to stay at an additional cost to the course fee.
