Marilyn A. Rose

Accounting Administrator, Harris County Sheriff’s Office/2nd Vice Chair, Texas Southern University, Board of Regents in completing the American Institute of Certified Public Accountants examination in 1990 and is licensed under the Texas State Board of Public Accountancy. Rose is a Texas Southern University Board of Regent. She is serving her second term having been appointed in 2011 by the former Governor Rick Perry and reappointed by Governor Greg Abbott in 2015. Rose is a former board member of the Lupus Foundation of America Texas Gulf Coast Chapter and Texas Organization of Youth Sports (TOYS).

arilyn A. Rose is a Certified Public Accountant. She is the Accounting Administrator in the Finance Office of the Executive Bureau at the Harris County Sheriff’s Office. She has worked in various capacities in her six year tenure there. Before coming to the Sheriff’s Office, Rose spent nine years at the Harris County Tax Assessor Collector and Voter’s Registrar Office as the Internal Auditor. Prior to embarking on a full-time position with the Harris County, she worked on several contract engagements with Independent Accountants and established the LM Rose 130

Rose’s work in the community has come with some recognition. On June 5, 1999 at the Status of Women Luncheon, she received the Status of Women Achievement Award from the Sigma Gamma Rho Sorority, Inc. Epsilon Tau Sigma Chapter in admiration of her spirit, love and unselfish dedication to the pursuit and betterment of those she touched with her simple act of kindness. Rose was presented with the Marilyn Rose Presidents Leadership Scholarship Donor Award in 2013 by the then president, John L. Rudley, in appreciation of her commitment to student success at Texas Southern University. In 2015, for her outstanding support to the university, students and alumni, Rose received the Excellent in Achievement Award from the Texas Southern University National Alumni Association. Consulting Group. She was employed with Price Waterhouse International Accountant Firm (Price WaterhouseCoopers) in her native country, The Bahamas, from 1988 to 1993. Rose attended Prairie View A & M University from 1981 to 1984, where she obtained a Bachelor of Business Administration Degree in Accounting. She went on to complete her graduate studies at Texas Southern University where she obtained a Master of Business Administration Degree in 1988 from the Jesse H. Jones School of Business. Her passion and love for all people is shown in her dedication to helping others, something she credits to her mother Yvonne Watson and her father, the late William Watson. Rose was born in New Providence (Nassau), Bahamas. She is married to The Honorable Lynden Rose, Honorary Consul to the Bahamas. They have three children, Madelyn, Lynden and Lynnard.
