Ja Ja Ball is a tenacious entrepreneur and philanthropist whose desire to help others enabled him to build a multi-million dollar business that not only develops business owners but also strengthens local communities across the United States. Mr. Ball is the President and Co-founder of Colbert/Ball Tax Service, a franchise tax service company with over 350 locations in 23 states. He, along with business partner Al Colbert, took a dorm room dream and blended it with a passionate approach to customer service. That special combination laid the foundation for America’s largest and most recognized African-American tax service company and franchise. Colbert/Ball Tax service is not an overnight success story. The company was established in 1995 and the first office opened in the Third Ward community. By catering to the needs of minorities and empowering leaders to become owners, Colbert/Ball Tax Service achieved sustained success. The small Third Ward office became several offices with a giant building sign facing a major freeway. Mr. Ball is ardent about youth education and entrepreneurship. Beyond his duties at the Colbert/Ball office, he spends a great amount of time mentoring and speaking at youth events. Mr. Ball often says, “You can’t stop a dream that doesn’t have brakes!” When youth learn that they can be what ever they want despite their ethnicity or neighborhood, the possibilities are endless. Mr. Ball annually contributes to the United Negro College Fund in addition to his personal scholarships for youth in Houston and his hometown. Some of Mr. Ball’s awards and accolades include, Ebony Magazine’s Young Leaders of the Future Award, The YMCA Outstanding Achievement Award, The Houston Pinnacle Award, 100 Black Men Outstanding Achievement Award, Texas Southern University Distinguished Alumnus Award, Jessie Jones School of Business Entrepreneur Excellence Award, Black Enterprise Magazine’s ranked Colbert/Ball Tax service as a top African American Franchise opportunity, Entrepreneur Magazine ranked Colbert/Ball Tax service as a “Top 25” Fastest Growing Franchises in the Country as well as one of the top 300 franchises in the nation, and Rolling out Magazine 40 under 40. Beyond serving as the co-founder of Colbert/Ball Tax Service, Mr. Ball has established several sister enterprises including, CB Entertainment and CTS. The future plans for Colbert/Ball Tax Service is immense. Mr. Ball is reaching for 1,000 franchises across the nation and even more cities in the next three years. Mr. Ball is the father of five children and resides in Missouri City, Texas. He attributes his many blessings to his steadfast commitment to keeping God first.
