Kimberly J. Williams serves as Vice President of the Office of Small Business (OSB) for the Metropolitan Transit Authority of Harris County (METRO). OSB’s mission is to serve as a liaison between the business community and METRO in support of full and fair participation in METRO’s contracting opportunities. OSB performs outreach, technical training, certification and compliance and reporting. In this role, Williams is also METRO’s Disadvantaged Business Enterprise (DBE) Liaison Officer.
Williams believes in servant leadership and is active in her community. She is President of the Houston Chapter of the Conference of Minority Transportation Officials (COMTO), the only association dedicated to advancement of minorities in all modes of transportation. She serves as a Board Officer of the Greater Houston Black Chamber (GHBC), where she was named 2012 Board Member of the Year, and is a recent former member of the Midtown Redevelopment Authority. She is a member of Delta Sigma Theta Sorority, Inc. and a graduate of Leadership Houston Class XXIX. Prior to METRO, she served as Vice President of External Relations for Texas Southern University. Williams has been recognized by her peers and was named COMTO’s “Emerging Leader of the Year,” Top 40 under 40 and Top 25 Outstanding Women of Houston by Rolling Out magazine. Williams is a graduate of Howard University and Wayne State Law School where she served as Survey Editor of the Wayne Law Review. She is the proud mother of one daughter, MacKenzie.
