As Director of Diversity and Supplier Diversity for H-E-B, James Harris is responsible for developing and implementing the diversity and inclusion corporate initiatives. He is also responsible for driving the supplier diversity program by ensuring the company’s procurement entities create an environment of inclusion for small and minority business enterprises. Harris has over 27 years in the food industry and developed a reputation for driving change and connecting corporate strategy to community engagement. Before joining H-E-B, he had a number of stops along the way to include The Minute Maid Company, Bruno’s, Meijer and Kroger. James serves on the boards of the Houston Minority Council’s SDAC (Supplier Diversity Advisory Council), Texas Diversity Council, Texas NAACP Corporate Advisory Council, Texas Business Alliance Advisory Board, American Heart Association’s Health Equity, Vice Chair of the Southwest Minority Supplier Development Council and H-E-B’s Corporate Health & Wellness Council. James obtained a bachelor’s degree in Political Science from Alcorn State University. He has been married to his wife, Shavonda for over 27 years and has two children, Carmen and Brandon. He is a member of Lilly Grove Missionary Baptist Church.
