EDITOR’S NOTE EDITOR’S NOTE

Hi everybody! Our first few club meetings have officially taken place and I am so excited for what’s next to come! Thank you to everybody who came to our meetings so far and I hope to see some of you at our upcoming service, division, club, and district events. Additionally, our appointed board applications are open, and I highly recommend applying if you’re even the slightest bit interested. Being a part of the appointed board last term was so rewarding and helped encourage my Key Club journey, and you never know what will happen if you just take a chance! Lastly, thank you for keeping up with my monthly newsletters so far!

EDNA BATEY BOBCAT BASH EDNA BATEY BOBCAT BASH

On Friday, September 13th, almost 50 volunteers from Pleasant Grove Key Club came to help Edna Batey Elementary school with their Bobcat Bash event! Volunteers ran activities like face painting, tattooing, plinko, and other carnival games for the elementary students to participate in. I was stationed at the plinko station, and my partner and I were in charge of instructing the children on how to play the game, distributing prizes, and so on. Even though there were a few hiccups with some clarity I had to get from the volunteer coordinator on the rules for the games and how to distribute prizes, the game ran smoothly for the most part. It was entertaining to watch people participate in different activities and get prizes all around campus. Also, it was especially fun to go to this event, personally, because it allowed me to see my old elementary school again! Additionally, nearing the end of the event, I got to go around and visit each station and see all the volunteers helping out and having fun at their places. All in all, seeing so many volunteers helping out with this event was very inspiring and makes me hopeful for future Pleasant Grove Key Club service events.

On Sunday, September 22nd, the Laguna Creek, Sheldon, and Pleasant Grove Key Clubs hosted their game night interclub! Before the event started, I helped to set up the tables and go through the games so that I knew the rules for each one. There were a variety of games for all participants to engage in such as Jenga, bingo, card games, connect four, water games, and even more! At the beginning of the event, all attendees received ten tickets which they could bet on the games they played with others in order to get enough tickets to buy the possible prizes! From plushies to candy to even a FRN ticket, there were some very enticing prizes we could aim for. Personally, I was aiming for one of the plushies which cost 40 tickets. This event was very engaging and fun and I got to play many games including the giant jenga, uno, chutes and ladders, spoons, bingo and so on! We were also able to purchase boba and were provided pizza which kept us well fed. By participating in these games with my group, I gained some tickets from winning a good amount of games! Nearing the end of the event, we also played a few rounds of bingo with everyone at the event for a prize of twenty tickets each winner! This kept me hooked the whole time, even though I didn’t end up winning any rounds. Despite this, at the end of the event, I had managed to get exactly enough tickets to purchase one of the plushies I had wanted! Overall, this was a fantastic way to end off the event, and this interclub was one of my favorites I’ve ever attended!

REGION 16 SURFER V BIKER-TC REGION 16 SURFER V BIKER-TC

On Saturday, September 14th, region 16 hosted their annual RTC! My club members and I entered the campus ready with energy and spirit! The event started off with the opening session where all the divisions gathered in the gymnasium for announcements and the kickoff! This was an entertaining start to the event with representatives from all the divisions competing in various games From volleyball to musical chairs, there were a variety of activities that we could participate in After this we moved onto session one where I decided to visit the editor’s workshop to learn more about my position! It was exciting to see the district news editor and district visual media editor in person, and the presentation was very engaging. After this, I stayed in the same room to learn about scholarships for session two. I was taught about many aspects of scholarships that I didn’t know before, which was very helpful for answering some questions I had. When these sessions were over, we moved onto lunch where we all received sandwiches and were given the opportunity to relax, show spirit, and purchase items! For instance, many spirit battles started which were super fun to participate in! I also got to buy items from stands in the outside lunch area which gave me the opportunity to get some cute region shirts and stickers! After lunch, we transitioned to session three where many members, including me, went to learn about Key Club Rizz! This was an amazingly entertaining station with us playing soulmates and learning about how rizz is related to being a Key Clubber Finally, at the end of the event, was the long awaited spirit session! All the divisions gathered once more to show off the spirit chants they’d been working! But even though my division, division 7 south, made it to the final round, division 27 north won in the end. Even if it was a disappointing end for my division, it was still a lot of fun to be able to attend this energetic, spirited event! With this being my first RTC, my experience at this event has left me with an amazing impression that makes me so enthusiastic to participate again next year! 8 P a s t

WHAT IS FRN? WHAT IS FRN?

Fall Rally is an annual event where members from the northern regions of CNH gather at Six Flags Vallejo. At Fall Rally North, LTGs and Executive officers are "auctioned" off to Divisions; the winning Division is able to then spend a designated period of time with the "purchased" officer. Auction funds and a portion of the ticket sales for the event goes towards the Pediatric Trauma Program. At this event you participate in a Spirit Rally, meet new people, support the Pediatric Trauma Program, show your Key Club spirit, and have fun! (cnhkeyclub.org)
