the dne Summer is practically over. Wow. I hope your summer went well and you were able to take a break from everything. It was a very busy 2 months for me, and honestly, I barely caught a break. Now we're heading back to school though! Are you excited? I can't wait honestly! I missed being outside during school, attending classes, hanging out with friends, and having a proper class discussion. I hope you guys will be able to transition from distance learning back to the traditional in-person learning. Make sure you don't put assignments until the last minute. For tips on how to balance school and service work continue reading!
Hey Ghosts!
Anyways, I hope you guys enjoy this month's newsletter. I wasn't entirely sure what my theme and color scheme for this month was going to be. When I think of August I think of mainly warm colors. A lot of orange and yellow more so. ;;;.. Besides that, don't forget to, check out the service events and fundraisers going on during this month and remember to attend the DCM on the 14th! Can't wait to see you all there! Until Next Time,
Khadijah Muhammad

RIVER CITY high school On June 28th, they had their monthly board meeting and one of the main topics was how they would gain more members as school is about a month away. They don’t plan on having club meetings, but they still plan to have some events to have the members connected.
INDERKUM high school At the End of the Year Banquet, the board at Inderkum High School announced that they would be doing the Free Rice as their fundraising event for the summer! All members had to do? Answer simple questions and collect rice grains. This would eventually be donated for the cause of saving lives in emergencies and building a better future for people that are in hunger. Details haven’t been finalized due to the summer being very busy for all of the board members, however they are planning to make members do this by at least the end of August!
Along with the previous McKinley Rose Garden Collaboration, they collaborated with West Campus (not present in the picture) and NP3 Key Club and hosted an interclub event! The procedure was the same as before, however they had to contact the coordinator beforehand due to the relatively large group. Since it was one of their first events that they have attended inperson, it was great seeing members from different schools and divisions. Additionally, building relationships with other clubs is also very useful long term. They are hoping to collaborate with different clubs in the future!
Summer is almost over and school is starting again! After a year of distance learning, many are finally beginning to return to in-person learning. The past year was not the easiest being at home, away from the learning environment everyone was familiar with. Due to that, many began to forget old habits they created which allowed them to balance schoolwork with extracurricular activities. Here are some tips to help you regain that stability with school and service events for Key Club!
1. create a schedule
p
During the beginning of your day, list all the tasks you want to accomplish. This will allow you to stay on-task and focus on achieving your goal for the day.
2. don't procrastinate Procrastinating is your worst enemy! To overcome it, don't set tasks aside and keep them for later. Get it done with as soon as possible!
3. know your limits
If you are struggling to get a task done, don't add overwork yourself by adding more to your plate. Deal with what you have, then you can decide whether you can take on another task or not.
4. take breaks
You deserve a break between school and extracurricular activities! Treat yourself at least a day per week with binging a show or hanging out with friends.

pro tip!
As you do your work for school, make sure to work in a quiet environment. And if you need background noise, play some music that will help you focus or a show/movie that you have seen many times and don't need to pay attention to (ex. One Day At A Time). When I desperately need to focus (primarily during finals/midterms season) I go through all the songs I've been listening to recently and add them in a playlist designated to keep me focused. This reduces the amount of time I waste finding songs.

Interclub events can be described as a “get-together” between school clubs in a division. The event that is planned will be coordinated between the clubs that are involved, meaning, communication is the key to a successful interclub. The event can include but is not limited to: themes, games, icebreakers, awards, entertainment.
PLANNING TEMPLATE The planning template is used to help clubs keep track of all of the information involved in the interclub. It is not required, however, it is highly encouraged! Create a copy of this sheet and share it with all of the officers in your group (only one organizer is needed per event). If a category is non-applicable, please leave it blank and try to complete as much of the other information as possible! Once completed, please have one officer from your group email the planning template to d07w.cnhkc.ea@gmail.com and cc it to d07w.ltg@cnhkeyclub.org.

Another part that is required in the planning process of the interclub, is filling out an Event Request Form (ERF). One of the clubs in the rotation group should fill out the event information portion and then share it with the other presidents to fill out the contact information and approvals. Please remember that every club involved needs to fill out the contact information and approvals.
IDEAS If your group is having trouble coming up with ideas, the link below may help. Or ask any DLT member for help.
ROTATION Rotations will be used to ensure that schools are interacting with other schools within the division. For three months, your school will be paired with another school(s). During this time, the officers (and DLT, if needed) will plan an event that will bring together their schools. The amount of events that are planned during this time is completely up to your group of officers. After this time is over, your school will be put into a new group with another school(s).
