From The editor! Hey ghosts! Happy New Year D7W! I hope everyone had a great and lovely break. We are almost towards the end of our Key Club term, but don’t worry, we have so much left in store for our division! Thank you to all who have attended our January DCM! We have more upcoming and exciting news, such as introducing our new LTG-elect! Also shoutout to those who attended the Gift of Giving service event on the 17th! It was so nice to see some ghosts come and take part with other divisions and Circle K. Also, our lovely fundraising task coordinator, Hala, created a Bingo Night Fundraiser that will take place on the 24th of Janurary. More info about that will be found in our newsletter!

DAVIS HIGH thanking essential workers nationwide
Our hardworking ghosts from Davis High participated in four events last month! Starting with A Gift To Humanity, from December 16-18th, members sent letters, online messages, or videos to essential workers through the A Gift To Humanity website. A student-led project created by a sophomore in Northern Virginia, A Gift to Humanity was started to appreciate and thank essential workers nationwide. Our lovely cards are shown above! For more information, go to http://ag2h.site/v. 6
RONALD MCDONALD CHARITY HOUSE LUNCH CARD MAKING On December 19th, members of community service clubs, including Key Club, attended a Zoom webinar to create small cards for lunch deliveries by the Ronald McDonald Charity house, a nonprofit charity that helps sick children and their families.
Davis High also held a drive for the Empower Yolo charity for Her Drive. Key clubbers donated menstrual products, general hygiene products, and lightly used bras. This was ran through December 19th-21st, and on the 26th & 27th.
NP3 HIGH In December, NP3 partcipated in the Ronald McDonald Devote to Lunch Notes service event! Key clubbers crafted cards to be sent out to sick children and families who receive lunches from the Ronald McDonate Charity house.
NP3 key clubbers created lunch notes with very cute drawings and unique styles!
A student drew a Christmas tree for the holiday season.
With over 30+ submissions, NP3 ghosts worked hard throughout December to create lovely notes.
This key clubber was able to create multiple Devote to Lunch Notes cards for children!
“Our December Service Event was making lunch notes to Ronald McDonald House Charities in Idaho. We submitted some very cute notes with jokes, designs, and art from many of our Key Club Members. 8
CRANES FOR CANCER On November 28th, from 11AM - 12PM, D7W held a Zoom meeting to watch a movie and fold paper cranes for the Cranes For Cancer service event! Cranes were to be sent out to Arizona where they would be distributed to various cancer patients nationwide. This crafty NP3 student made 5 different cranes!
RIVER CITY In December, we held events for our members to attend and formed our board for the next term. We are excited to continue serving in the new year! On Friday, December 4th, we held our monthly club meeting. During this meeting, we went over membership dues, DCON information and upcoming meetings, and senior awards. We also told our members about the Candidate Training Conference and our club’s board elections. Our current board members each gave a description of their responsibilities so that members would have a better understanding of each position.
BOARD MEETING On Friday, December 18th, we held elections for the next term’s board over Zoom. In order to learn more about each member interested in a position, the officers currently in the position interviewed them in breakout rooms. Our current board then looked over each person’s interview and discussed who to select for each position. We are very excited to train our new board and prepare them for the next term! 10
HOLIDAY CARD MAKING CARDS FOR FRONTLINE WORKERS
On Saturday, December 12th, we held a holiday card making event over Zoom. Our members were able to make holiday cards for frontline workers with any materials that they had at their house. They were then able to either drop the cards off to us or they could mail them on their own. We were really happy to participate in an event that would allow us to show our frontline workers how much we appreciate all that they do! In the picture above, members are posing together with their own cards that they have made!
CANDIDATE TRAINING CONFERENCE On Saturday, December 12th, CTC was held. It was open to Key Clubbers interested in becoming a candidate for the position of LTG or if they just wanted to learn more about the position. During this event, attendees learned about the duties and responsibilities of an LTG, as well as the challenges and rewards that come along with the position. Attendees were also able to learn about the campaigning process.
INderkum FUZZIES FOR
CAMP KOREY
On the 12th of December, we introduced a service opportunity to decorate “Warm Fuzzies”, a tradition for Camp Korey. Members printed out templates for their Fuzzies and personalized them with markers, crayons, stickers, etc. They will be sent to Camp Korey, which “... empowers children living with serious medical conditions and their families through year-round, lifechanging experiences, always free of charge.” 12
DEVOTE TO
LUNCH NOTES
Our Devote to Lunch notes service opportunity was introduced to our members on the 7th of December. We hosted a Zoom event when members could hang out, watch a movie, and decorate their lunch notes. These notes are sent to the Ronald Mcdonald Charity house in Idaho, where they are put in lunches sent to their hospital partners.
SHAVE THE DAY
Since January 4th, members have been able to play the mobile game “Shave the Day” to earn service hours. This game supports St. Baldrick’s Foundation by raising money for childhood cancer research.

CANDIDATE TRAINING
CONFERENCE The CNH district board held a training conference for those interested in running for LTG next term. INTRODUCING......
LI TEH
OUR LTG-ELECT On January 16th, D7W held our Conclave to elect our next term LTG! Li Teh, a junior from Inderkum High School, won the election! President of her own Key Club, Li has lots of experience and is very excited to take on her position! Read on to get to know more about our incoming LTG. Why did you decide to run for LTG? I decided to run for LTG because I wanted to give back to the club that helped me find myself! I came into high school as a shy person but Key Club has helped me open up, meet a lot of friends, and serve my community at the same time! I hope that everyone can enjoy their time as a Key Clubber and find their passions, just like I had! What are your goals for next term? How do you plan to unite our division more? My goals for the next term are to fundraise $2,000 towards PTP, ensure that all clubs are dues paid, serve 3,000 service hours as a division, and increase DCM attendance. My personal goals include getting to know each club individually and planning division wide events based on our interests. Interactive ice breakers and fundraisers can increase interconnectedness. I plan on having fun activities during our DCMs to increase attendance and allow members to get to know each other! We are all a part of the CNH ohana and, quoted from Lilo and Stitch, “Ohana means family. Family means nobody gets left behind or forgotten.” I’m here to support and help you! Reach out to me if you need anything!

GETTING TO KNOW MORE ABOUT LI What are your 2021 resolutions? My 2021 resolutions are to build me self confidence and have the courage to try new things! As Theodore Roosevelt once said, “Believe you can and you’re halfway there.” What do you like to do on your free time? During my free time, I enjoy baking, eating, reading, knitting, crocheting, watching kdramas and cdramas, playing word cookies, drawing, playing violin, and a lot more! Although I haven’t played competitively for 3 years, I still enjoy playing badminton!
Do you have any pets? I’ve only ever had pet fish because they don’t make messes. I currently have many fish in my aquarium and they’re all super pretty! What is your favorite subject in school and why? My favorite subject is biology, because I enjoy learning about the world I live in and the role I play in our environment. If you were to go live on a remote island, what three items would u take with you? If I were to go to a remote island, I would bring my water bottle, a hair tie, and extra clothing!
What was your favorite service event so far? My favorite service event so far is the Prostate Cancer Run! Although I had to wake up early for that event, I loved the cold morning fog, sunrise, and seeing all my fellow key clubbers serve my community with me!
CONGRATULATIONS LI! WE WISH YOU THE BEST FOR NEXT TERM!
