from the editor

Ayo Red Devils! First and foremost, I want to say thanks to Emily Nguyen and Katherine Chong for creating the front cover of the newsletter! I hope you all had fun at the banquet and the officer training conference because I did. Summer is here, be sure to stay hydrated! AND don't lose the spirit of service over the summer!

Campus Clean-upÂ

13

The clean-up involved two of our members picking up trash around the school for one hour. Some objects that were found were straws, food wrappers, and even a broken scooter. The service event brought our school’s littering problem to light and helped improve the environment. - Christine Tran | Clayton Valley

14

Lei Making Social

15

We held a social each day to help make ribbon leis for our fundraiser. Making one ribbon lei was worth 1 service hour. While we made leis, we interacted and got to know each other more. This event really got a lot of us to befriend other people who love community service! It was an exciting event because of everyone’s involvement in helping us out. Even if it meant staying at school for an extra hour or two, we enjoyed our time together! - Gyle Viloria | Deer Valley

16

Friends of Sausal Creek

17

Friends of Sausal Creek is a habitat restoration organization with the goal of maintaining and protecting the Sausal Creek Watershed. They have a large plant nursery which houses a variety of flowers, ryes, and other plants native to the watershed. When we got to the nursery the people there were quick to put us to work. We did a variety of tasks that included planting, washing tools, and sowing seeds. We also dug up weeds, watered plants, and collected seeds. - Katherine beckley | College Park

18

Kids Fest

19

Volunteers help set up the day before the event and help clean up and run booths at the event. Some of the tasks at the event include, arts and craft booth, wristbands, costumes, balloon booth, parking, etc. Some even stayed the whole day! Making the event run was all thanks to Mount Diablo students, Staff, and Key Club members that took out their time to help. - Amanda Le | Mount diablo

What is your favorite Alhambra

Volunteering at the Quaker House in SF with my club, and helping hand out food to those in need. It felt really good to give back to people who are less fortunate than me, and to see how happy it made them

Mount Diablo The Multiple Sclerosis Walk because I got my hands on a cup of coffee and I ended up hiding in a bush for 10 minutes

Concord At RTC 2016, we were all at the bonfire and cheering each other on, that's when I really realized how special Key Club was to me. Not only is it awesome service events where you get to help out the community, but also when you cheer each other on. Key Club isn't just family, it's a home

Pittsburg Spending days creating our club's homecoming car (float) with the 2016-2017 term board. I became a great bonding activity and we even placed 3rd!

DeerÂ

FRN! All the peo that we could still the best. It's ha because ev comes new fun. With a favorite memo meeting

Antioch

One of my favorite memories in Key Club so far was going to region banquet last year and sharing all of the memories with the seniors, dancing and getting a DLT award. I made many new friends and got to celebrate the new term in becoming a president

The bonfire at RTC 2016, it was a memorable moment. Seeing everyone with such spirit and creativity, feeling the inclusiveness and joy. It was great to just vibe with people who are pursuing the same cause

Dozier-Libbey

Northgate

The FRN from two years ago. Red Devils had extremely on point spirit cheers, and we came sooo close to winning the spirit stick! I lost my voice for three and a half days!

The MS walk because a lot of our members went to the walk and I ended up making many friends and handing out t-shirt. Near the end, my friends and I snuck out during our work to get fake tattoos on our face
