TheStartofSomethingNew… |06| INTERVIEWS ”I am super excited for the upcoming volunteering opportunities and service events! I look forward to having fun with my friends whilst giving back to my community. Although it is far from now, Mr. Key Club is an event that I'm excited for the most in this upcoming school year of service!” BrandonHau CVCHS Key Club Member ‘22 ‘23 "Hello! This upcoming school year I am excited to serve as one of the D26N spirit coordinators! I can’t wait to teach everyone our new cheers, icebreakers, and encourage other key clubbers to be more spirited! Also since I’m a senior now I want to leave my mark on both my home club as well as D26N as a whole I’m so excited for everyone to see what’s to come!" Spirit Coordinator ‘22 ‘23
”I am most excited about FRN this upcoming school year!! Since we revamped the club at liberty a little too late last year, we weren’t able to qualify for FRN.
"I’m most excited to meet new people and crate more connections within the key club community! the vast majority of key clubbers I’ve met were some of the friendliest people I’ve met, so I’m hoping that this year, I’ll be able to expand my circle of contacts and get to know more people in key club <3 to know that within this club, I’m with many like minded people who want to serve our community, it makes me look forward to the potential friendships this year has in store."

Because of that, I’m so excited to be able to experience FRN with my fellow red devils and make lots of long lasting and worthwhile memories.“

Olivia Baluyut has been doing a great job at her role. She always ask questions and help for articles, visuals and newsletters information. She submits her articles and visuals early and is always on task. To add on, Olivia attended the July DCM even with other surrounding circumstances. College Park Key Club is quickly preparing for the start of the new school year This past week we have been working on promoting and getting our club name out there He is always asking if the club is in need of assistance and is always providing his room as a location for our club to meet up and share ideas, meetings, and bond with one another. Additionally, he is always helping out the cabby members and teaching us anything that we are unfamiliar with with our roles. When ever we are confused or need something, she will always help us. She reply to messages very fast and explain everything quite and easy. She also give us opportunities to come and volunteer. One of the nicest people i’ve met. Even through difficulties, Argentina tries her best to fix situations and is the kindest person ever. She has kept in touch and has helped organized events. She is always aiding us with the supplies and items that we need for events and providing us with opportunities for service such as the restaurant tour event!

Congratulations to the Cherry Cinnamon Rolls for taking gold at R9 Olympics and congrats to Region 9 for raising OVER $1800 for PTP!
. The best performances we’re allowed to move onto the fourth round, which was Fencing! Of course, we did not use genuine fencing gear and, instead, teams valiantly competed with pool noodles! The teams with the most strikes by the end of the time period won the round and got to move on to the final round, Musical Chairs. The teams competed until the last man standing, which then concluded R9 Olympics.
On July 23, we participated in our annual REGION 9 OLYMPICS! As Division 26 North, we are a part of the Region 9 Waves, along with D2N, D2S, D8, and D26S! During this year's Region 9 Sanrio lympics, teams of six were formed to compete in five olympic games, starting at 10:30 AM and ending at 3:30 PM The first game was a Water Balloon Toss, and the teams with the least amount of water balloons popped were allowed to move on this round The next game was a Scavenger Hunt, in which teams scurried, searching and performing a broad list of activities. On the third game, teams were required to create cheers on the spot to then be judged by their performances

What we ' ve been up to...
There wasn't much to the event other than the tie dying and bracelet making. We tried to make this small event a fundraiser by raising money for the Pediatric Trauma Program during the event A major highlight of the event was making matching bracelets with other Key Club members. The beads for bracelet making were very cute and varied. The tie dye was also fun to do and I loved seeing everyone’s different designs. It was an overall fun bonding event for our local Key Clubs Not only do I wish to have another event like this one but to see everyone who participated in the event again!

SUMMER OF SERVICE
Each day ranging from July 11th 15th had a different event virtually with the last day being an in person event. The first day, we chose freerice. Freerice is an application that lets you donate rice grains simply by answering trivia questions Our second day, we did Cranes 4 Cancer, which consisted of members making cranes in the comfort of their own home for donation! The third day was Pause For, which would let you donate by taking a break from the internet. Our fourth day was Charity Miles! Just like in the name, charity miles is an app where you can donate to unicef simplifying by walking or running as long as you log it within the app
For our last and final day, we did an in person activity called Sidewalk Chalk Art! Two members and one officer came This happened in the CV Senior Parking Lot and the individuals who came made positive messages for others to see! Our officer also collected cranes for anyone who attended. If you weren’t able to attend, members were allowed to draw by their homes whether it be the parking lot or sidewalk, and send a message thru the remind for service!
During Mid July, Clayton Valley’s key club held a virtual volunteering week called The Summer of Service We decided to do a virtual volunteering week since the heat was getting pretty unbearable, plus, people at work or were on vacation. Our solution to that was to do a quick and easy week of volunteering.

One of our motivated Free Rice participants, our secretary Calysa described how this event helped her indifferent ways as she states “FreeRice is a familiar event as it is commonly hosted when in need of an 'easy access' event and is also used to encourage not as active members. I personally spend my time there testing out my Spanish and matching flags to countries. There is always so much to try but I know my to go and I'd like to say that through here, my understanding of the Spanish vocabulary has increased This event shares rice to those in need and can also be self beneficial because of the vast 'game' options If I didn't time myself, I could get lost within the website Earn service hours now and share rice!” Not only does this event give easy service hours and helps the world food program, but it also serves as a great learning practice! With the different game options, one could explore all the different games and have fun while doing good for the food program!

Yet another Free Rice participant, Cadence decided to partake in this event as well to get some easy hours and an easy way to help gain grains of rice! She states that “It was fun cause I did it when I was bored.” Free rice not only helped with education but with boredom as well! Both participants that participated in this event had gained their own pros to it!
On July 3rd til the end of July, Freedom Key Club held a free rice event for members to help donate grains of rice and get easy service bourse as well! Many games and questions were answered while playing this event and some were very helpful to those people that participated and learned a few things! The website kept points tracked and hours were taken down as well for each member!

This was one of our first community service events we participated in as a new club! It was a delight to help out with our community while also having some fun. We got to hear many amazing stories of Kiwanis members and reflect on them with our own experiences in Key Club We are really looking forward to our Key Club members joining us in similar events for the new school year!

KIWANIS RESTAURANT TOUR Article by Anica Hijada
Slowly steering back into the school year, Dozier Libbey Key Club ended July with a bang by helping with the Kiwanis Restaurant Tour! On July 31st, around hundreds of participants purchased a ticket to get a bite of free food from 8 different restaurants around Antioch and Brentwood If all restaurants have been visited, participants would be entered into a special raffle Officers were assigned different restaurants like Sip and Scoop California, Dad’s BBQ, and Cold Stone Creamery Our task was to punch participant’s tickets in the designated restaurant in order to sample food Through this event, we met many wonderful people from Kiwanis and got to sample delicious food. In total, we were able to count up to 20 hours of community service as a club!
