Editor's Note Hello Division 26 North, the sizzling hot Red Devils! My name is Tommy Nguyen and I am serving as your Division News Editor for the 2022-2023 term! Key Club has been such a pivotal part of my life and I hope it has had an impact on you all as well. We are all drawn together with this sense of spirit and community that makes us, well US. I hope you are all currently enjoying your Summer Break, because I know I am, and I look forward to what this term holds for all of us. With that being said, I am excited to present this month's newsletter to you all!
Tommy Nguyen
Division News Editor 2022-2023
Message from our LTG Hello all my lovely red-hot devils! I hope you all have had an enjoyable Pride month full of love and good fun. As we carry on into the rest of the year, my wish is that we continue to carry pride with us no matter the month. The objects of Key Club call upon us all to build up our community; I hope we can stay true to this and build a safe, accepting environment especially for our friends in the LGBTQ+ community. As a member of the queer community, myself, I want you all to know that I am always here to lend my support in anyway that you need. We all need a friend sometimes! As dutiful members of Key Club, I encourage you to be a friend to others as well. Be kind to those around you, and be kind to yourself as well.
Lieutenant Governor 2022-2023

ARTICLES & VISUALS Antioch Library Cleanup Article by Samantha San Diego On Monday May 30th 2022, from 9 AM to 3 PM Freedom's new board went to the Antioch library to organize and clean books! At this event the participants helped to organize books in alphabetical order to prepare for their book sale! All the books were donations from the community and were sorted in boxes. This event was a great opportunity for the members to see some new faces from the community and work together to even out the workload of organizing many books! Freedom's diligent President, Vivian Nguyen, describes the hard work that the members went through and exclaims “In all honesty, the event was really tiring but it made me really happy to see the faces of the people all around me as I was helping them sort out the hundreds of books that were donated. Doing it alone would’ve taken those at the event an eternity and taking part in lessening their workload and the time it took them to organize the books was something I enjoyed! My favorite part was working alongside the people of the community and seeing new faces!” Though this event was tiring, there was also a bright side to seeing how everyone else worked together and spread out the work so it wouldn’t pile up on one person! Yet another hardworking person, Freedom's secretary Calysa, expresses her experience at the event and says “The event went by smoothly because it was a group effort. All hands were on deck and no person was alone on a task. I enjoyed seeing the before and after as in seeing how the books were stored and restored after organizing. I like things in order.”
Keep reading to see at what our division is up to!

May DCM + Banquet + DLT APPOINTMENT Article by Anya Francisco On May 22nd, 2022, Division 26 North got together with its sister Division, 26 South at the Pleasant Hill Senior Center, to hold the end of the year's Devil’s Banquet. The banquet included an assortment of food to eat, and it enabled everyone to mingle, as they reminisced on the past terms memories. Tears were shed, friends were hugged, as we all looked back to the 2021-2022 term, but this banquet surely had everyone looking forward to the upcoming term. As we said a teary goodbye to our past officers, we were able to meet our new ones! As we celebrated the upcoming term, the members of the 2022-2023 Division Leadership Team were revealed at the banquet, and it gave us a taste of what was yet to come for our division. Awards were also given to the past officers, accompanied by sweet messages from our past LTG, Ethan. At the event, there were QR codes on each table that led us to the Love-Box. The Love-Box let people type out anonymous messages to a certain someone at the banquet, which were later read aloud to the entire room. The messages on the Love-Box surely triggered a few laughs, as many were funny and heartfelt. The banquet was surely a great way to look back on our year and memories, as well as to bring everyone together.

Serving at the Food Bank Article and Design by Ysabelle Bolano Each Wednesday from 3:30 to 5:30 p.m., the Concord High School Key Club hosts a service event at the Food Bank (4010 Nelson Ave, Concord)! Although there are only ten spots available for this event, it is strongly recommended that you attend. If you choose to attend, remember to wear a mask and closed-toe shoes to keep safe and sanitary. Our attendees assisted with the organization and cleaning of a variety of items that arrive at the food bank, including oranges, water bottles, and onions! Not only has this been a fulfilling volunteering opportunity as you can make time to help others, you truly become connected with your community as you work alongside your fellow red devils and even Kiwanis! If you're still on the fence about attending, take a look at what other Key Club members have said about their experiences... "Working alongside Kiwanis on the annual Earth Day Food Bank Event was a blast! We organized two whole giant palette-sized crates of oranges into mini net bags (there were also onions EVERYWHERE). It was nice to make conversation with the families volunteering alongside us and, at the end of the event, we got to stand with Kiwanis for a special donation towards the Food Bank!" - Tommy Nguyen
“When I went to the food bank it was just Tommy, Sofia, and I. We cleaned A LOT of water bottles that came in, so many cases! We just had to wash off the dirt and put them in other crates.” - Isha Saleem
