LTG Announcement Hey Devils! I hope you all had/are having an amazing winter break! I'm sorry for being a bit MIA for the past few weeks; needless to say, it's been some of the craziest months of my life thus far, and it's been one filled with obstacles and trials, but with amazing rewards and blessings as well.
HAPPY NEW YEAR!
Thank you all for the work that you have done thus far in this amazing organization, and for continuing to fuel your passion for service and for keeping up your golden attitude, even when times are hard. There are still around four months left of this Key Club term (I know, it went by fast), so it's vital that you take advantage of these next few months to really make a difference. It will be tough, and at times, you may want to quit. It's important, however, that you continue to strengthen your endurance and use the last few months before District Convention to make a HUGE impact on your community. Thank you and happy winter!

Hi everyone! December has been hectic, but thankfully it's finally winter break! I hope everyone has been keeping up with service events, especially at this time of the year because it's the season of giving. So what can you give? It's as simple as spreading your beautiful smiles around. Let's give back to those in need, those who don't have a family to celebrate with, etc. Nothing is more heartwarming than being the reason behind someone's happiness. Spread the joy and keep up the service! I hope to see you all very soon!
Red Devils! Winter break is almost here! I'm very happy about this break, because now I can make some time to do some more community service activities! Speaking of community service, I hope each club is aiming to reach their community service hour goals! Thank you to those of you who showed up to our Joint DCM with Division 26 South and Division 2! It was loads of fun and for me, a great firsttime experience! I finally learned how to ice skate! The many opportunities Key Club brings you. Also as mentioned in the DCM, I hope everyone plans ahead for DCON! Please find ways to fundraise, and find chaperones that are able to attend along with you! See you all soon, Red Devils!

The Past month our club has been trying to put together a Christmas party, as we figure this would be a great way for us to get to know each other better. The party is planned for after finals and during winter break.

College Park's main focus of the month is fundraising for the Philippines. All the money we have raised from food sales, individual buckets, see's candy sales, as well as future bake sale profits is going to help the typhoon victims. Volunteering wise, we are greatly involved with the food bank at the moment. In order to connect our school more, we have invited other clubs to our events. This has proved to be a worthwhile action, and will definitely continue in the future.

PITTSBURG
Currently we are helping Pittsburg Kiwanis to promote the See’s Candy Fundraiser for the Key Club Scholarships. It's an all week service where we get to hold and dance with signs for 2 hours to where the candy is being sold. December 16th was our last club meeting for 2013. We ended the year with more than 40 members still active and ready to serve.
NORTHGATE
This past month, Northgate Key Club has Helped Fight Hunger in front of local Safeway’s and covered for the Tree of Lights in Walnut Creek, Pleasant Hill, and Moraga/Lafayette. This week, Northgate Key Club will continue writing letters to raise money for the Make A Wish Foundation. These next few weeks we are hoping to fundraise for DCON and to continue helping our community with various service projects.
All club updates should be submitted to Desiree Choe by the 14th of each month. Thanks!
MT. DIABLO
The Mount Diablo Key Club has just finished their collections and counting of the money raised for typhoon relief for the Philippines and has raised over $400 for the Philippines Red Cross. We are very happy with the results and participation that has emerged from this event and couldn't be more pride of our members. We are also currently looking into doing more volunteer events for the holidays and, or possible ice breakers and community builders for our club.

Key Clubbers in Action—Community Service
Volunteers from Northgate Key Club help out at Safeway’s Help Us End Hunger Food Drive at various locations in Walnut Creek. Their help was much appreciated in the local community and was a generous action of service in this holiday season.

Turkey Trot—Lesliejane Pada, Mt. Diablo During Thanksgiving Day, the Mount Diablo Key Club volunteered at the Walnut Creek Turkey Trot in order to help raise money for the Food Bank. Many of our members spent the day doing various jobs throughout the event such as registering entries, set up, clean up, and work with the tech crew. Our members had fun working with other volunteers and participating in the mini games during breaks.
Operation Christmas Child Minami Coleman, College Park College Park Key Club participated in the national collection week of Operation Christmas Child, which is a Samaritan’s Purse International Relief program that sends shoebox presents to children in need. We helped collect boxes for the drive and pack shoes boxes in cartons. We then helped loaded them into trucks that were to be shipped to many different places far and wide. We were very pleased with the hard work we put in and the results we saw at the end of the day. We are so happy to have been given this opportunity.
The Hunger Games for Roy Samuel Golingan
Haiyan
On December 13th, we hosted the first Pittsburg Hunger Games competition after school. This was our Typhoon Haiyan fundraiser, charging $5 per player. 30 students signed up and we raised about $150 with additional donations to the cause. To briefly summarize the games, players had to collect as many items from the fountain as possible and bring it back to their base, while avoiding other players trying to grab their flag belts. It was a clash between all the classes, resulting in a very fierce competition, with the Seniors being the victors at the end. Although there weren’t as much players as expected, it was still a very successful event. We hope to do this fundraiser again in the Spring, and double the number of players by then.

Reminder: The 68th Annual Cali-Nev-Ha District Convention will be held in Sacramento, CA on April 11-13, 2014. You’re sure to have a wonderful experience at DCON! We recommend that you begin fundraising now to lower the prices of your tickets so that every member can attend!

Hey Red Devils! For me, 2013 has been a year of new beginnings. I’m so grateful for all the people I’ve met, all the opportunities I’ve had, and all the lessons I’ve learned. Hopefully I can carry these experiences with me into 2014 and make it an even more amzing year. I hope you, red devils, can do the same thing in all aspects of your lives, including school, family, friends, Key Club, and other areas. As we have the opportunity to take a break from school to reflect on the past year and spend time with loved ones, I hope we can take some time to reprioritize and organize our lives, or make resolutions we’re sure to keep. 2014 is upon us, and it’s going to be a fresh start. Remember that you have the potential to make a difference everyday. So make the most out of every opportunity. Continue serving with a smile. Inspire and be inspired. Meet new people, rekindle old friendships. Stay on track and remember your goals. And last but not least, enjoy the New Year.
Happy Holidays! In Service,
