Hey Red Devils! Hope this summer has been awesome for you all, and that you're still spending time BURNING with service during your vacation! You've been doing an amazing job serving your communities throughout summer break, but remember to keep that fire blazing! With school coming up in just a month, you need to charge into the new year with fresh ideas and a newly-fueled passion for service! I'd like to encourage all of you to really think about what your own personal goals are for this upcoming school year - what would YOU like to see your club achieve in these first few months, and how exactly do you plan to implement these goals? During the next few days, look over the goals that I and the rest of the Division Leadership Team set out for you and your club; I know they seem intimidating or too much to handle, but don't worry - we're all one OHANA and I believe in you! Before summer vacation ends, I'd love to visit you and your club in person at least once. If you happen to have a club meeting, board meeting, or service project coming up within the next few weeks, PLEASE let me know and I will do everything I can to attend! For now, though, I'll see ya'll at the August DCM on Saturday, August 24!!
Burning with service,

Hope everyone is surviving through this bipolar weather and having an amazing summer! How are those summer community service activities going? I know summer is that lazy time of the year, but every once in a while you and your key club should set up a community service event and get some extra hours when you can! Not only will you get more hours, but you’ll have the opportunity to get closer to the other members of your club. Also, there are 2 months left until Fall Rally North! It is time to seriously start fundraising for PTP if you haven’t started yet. If you need help thinking of community service activities or need fundraising ideas, please contact me through the executive assistant email account! Have a great rest of the summer!
ASSISTANT Hey Red Devils! I hope you guys are having an amazing summer so far! But remember that Key Club does not stop in the summer. It's a year round organization, so please attend most or all events. Try to reel in new recruits, plan events and service projects and just have fun. For example, I was able to go to the Concord Relay for Life at Todos Santos. It was a very touching and beautiful event. They lit up luminaries for those who's lives have been taken by cancer, those who are fighting and those who are survivors. In addition, I have been busy making pocket tees, where proceeds go towards my school's club's Pediatric Trauma Program fund. So keep in mind, you can always do something to help! It doesn't have to be something super spectacular. I hope to see more many more familiar and new faces at division events!

With a few Key Clubber from the Eastern Canada District during the Meetand-Greet portion of ICON.
The first four days were spent touring D.C., seeing landmarks such as the Lincoln Memorial, Washington Monument, Arlington Cemetery, Mt. Vernon (George Washington's home), and much more! Although the weather was humid and moody for much of the time, us CNH Key Clubbers still had a blast. It was amazing seeing these historical sites and thinking about how so many of our nation's very first leaders stood on the same steps as us - the future leaders of this nation. When ICON officially started on July 3, the CNH Bees were quick to show our spirit and let everyone else at the convention know that we felt fine - all of the time. Over the next four days, we spent our time going to informative and valuable workshops, dancing the night away at the Storybook Service Dance and the Eliminate Project-themed dance, meeting hundreds of Key Clubbers from all over the world, and electing the 2013-2014 Key Club International Board (comprised of an International President, International Vice President, and 11 International Trustees). Going to ICON in D.C. only made us more excited for next year's convention, which will be held in our very own GOLDEN Anaheim, California. It's truly an experience that you do not want to miss, and us CNH Bees hope to see you all there to represent our amazing district!

CLUB UPDATES
Hey Key Club, how do you feel?
Antioch
This past month our club participated in the Antioch Relay for Lif Although we didn't actually participate in the event, we were there to help serve breakfast with our local Kiwanis club. We had to set up and make pancakes with other snacks, which were provided to all of those who were attending the event. We served drinks and handed out the dishes This month our club is planning to gather up and discuss plans for the upcoming school year.

Concord Concord High's Key Club has been enjoying summer while contacting foundations who are in need of our service. We've recruited new members eager to help us and the community. In addition, we have raised over $100 in counting towards PTP through our pocket tee and hair bow fundraising. In July, we attended the Todos Santos Relay for Life where we walked and created luminarias for those who have passed. In August we hope to have more club meetings, volunteer at the food bank at least twice, volunteer at a shelter in Concord, and have a bake sale fundraiser.

Before the very beginning of July, our officers held a meeting together and discussed past events such as the OTC and future events such as what are we going to do as a club for the summer and when the new school year begins. We also discussed several fundraiser ideas and what would work best for our club. I also had a meeting with our club advisor discussing how to promote our club to potential members. Currently, several of our members, including one of my officers, are out of state and on vacation. Some of the Mount Diablo Key Club members have continued to be involved through the community with many taking on their own individual volunteer opportunities. The rest of our club officers and I have been looking for several group volunteer opportunities and are currently awaiting some replies.

On Saturday, July 13, hundreds of people came together to participate and help out at the Concord and Walnut Creek Relay for Life events. Much-needed funds were raised as cancer survivors and their loved ones trekked around the course, raising awareness for the cause. Northgate, College Park, and Concord High’s Key Clubs had the amazing opportunity to not only volunteer at the Relays, but also experience the empowering determination of those who were walking in support of the American Cancer Society.

“The Walnut Creek Relay for Life gave College Park and Northgate high schools a heartfelt volunteering experience that made a stupendous impact on our community. Our experience gave us an opportunity to honor those who have passed on or survived from cancer. Our gregarious efforts ranged from helping out in the registration booth to making a huge amount of Luminaria bags with cans of food and water that we later distributed around the course. In the end, I am honored to say that I have made an impact in many people's life whether they were having fun raising money or were honoring their loved ones. I look forward to participating again next year.

Relay for Life Set Up >> Monica Willemsz, College Park Preside
Before the Relay, Northgate and College Park Key Clubs helped set up signs and tents. We arrived around noon and were given metal stakes to be put around the track. They wer stuck in and hammered in to stay, and we stuck signs on them to help people direct themselves. After, we helped set up ten and chairs around the field. We also moved cases of water and completed any other tasks that the coordinator specified for us. The next day, our Key Clubbers participated in the Relay, and were there to help set up anything else. They set up more signs and helped the coordinators make sure the event ran smoothly.

It’s almost school time! This is a crucial time to start planning how your club can hit the ground running to kick off a successful school year. Here are some tips from your Division Leadership Team!
TIPS FOR THE S C H O O L YEAR (2013-2014)
Advertise! Make sure your club is doing its best to advertise all the fun things you’ve been doing! Remember, we’re always looking for new recruits to add to our family!
Plan out your fundraisers! Before the school year gets too hectic, take advantage of your renewed determination and get all your fundraising events organized! Planning ahead will ensure you have less worries by the time finals (ugh!) roll around.
Organize a board meeting! Officers should be having these monthly (at least). Choose a place, grab some snacks, and get organized! Also, be sure to keep Leon updated on when you have these. Get ready for your school’s Club Day! Grab a booth, set up some signs, and show you Key Club spirit! Once you get all the recruits, make sure to let them know what exactly Key Club is and all the wonderful things we do. Often, new members will leave if not immediately interested.
Most importantly: HAVE FUN! Just because summer is beginning to wrap up and the school year is upon us doesn’t mean all the fun has past! Get your members together and get spirited!

AUGUST DCM When? Saturday, August 24 . Time: To be announced!
Where? Katie Shimizu’s House 3708 Rancho Estates Ct. Walnut Creek What? This DCM is gonna be SUPER fun. You definitely do not want to miss it! Bookmark it now and make sure everyone is there! Why? Well, we’re going to get crafty and make a bunch of really fun spirit items! Make sure you’re prepared with cash as we will be charging per each station. This way, we can stay in our budget, raise money for PTP, and get spirited. See you all there!!!
DEVIL of the MONTH Monica is probably one of the most spirited and dedicated Red Devils out there! She is an inspiration to all of us. Here’s a little Q&A! Q: What do you love about Key Club? A: Key Club is a second family to me. I love the enthusiasm and dedication. Without hesitation, there will always be someone to help and guide you.
Monica Willemsz, College Park
Q: What has been your favorite Key Club experience? A: There are so many! Highlights from a couple: at my first DCM, I felt so welcome and that’s when I realized there are a lot of dedicated people in Key Club. Another one was at OTC. I made new friends, and a highlight of the day was when I did the hand bird whistle and someone across the room answered back! Radical!
Q: What’s your favorite Key Club cheer? A: Oooh, probably how do y’all feel?...Remix devil style.

The chart above shows the goals we have set for each club in Division 26 North. We know these goals may seem a little scary, but they are very attainable with a little planning, determination, and dedica tion. We have FULL confidence in all our clubs that these goals (and more) can be reached. Remember, your Division Leadership team is ALWAYS available if you need help with ANYTHING. We CAN make these goals a reality, so let’s get started!
Hey Red Devils! Wow, can you believe we’re already halfway through summer vacation!? I guess time flies when you’re having fun! Hopefully you all have been making some awesome Key Club memories. I know I have! Something I really enjoyed this month was volunteering at the Relay for Life. It was a crazy long shift and I did injure myself at the end, but overall it was SO much fun getting to spend time with fellow Red Devils while serving our community.
I sincerely hope you all enjoy the rest of your summer break! Remember to stay active volun teering in the community, and start brainstorming ways for you club to hit the ground running for the upcoming school year. Looking ahead we have some pretty exciting events coming up – it’s gonna be an awesome year! I hope you enjoyed this installment of the Inferno! In Service,
